My fiance and I ate at this restaurant a few days ago! Even though they told us ahead of time there would be a wait the service and timing of our food was awesome! We were treated so nicely and everything was amazing! The salad was so good!! I always love their club sandwiches with their broccoli cheese soup!

Google
My family orders here frequently and orders are constantly wrong, poor quality or missing ingredients. This experience specifically we waited 45 minutes for our order some of the excuses for why it took that long was that the staff had put the potatoes in the oven but forgot to turn it on. How ridiculous is that honestly. My potato specifically the one pictured was missing over half of my toppings. The very rare times the food is correct, all ingredients are there and quality is fine it's good but as I said it's very rare that happens. I sincerely hope they get some kind of management in to better manage this location. Also we had to go to this location rather then the south side location because the south side was out of potatoes......again.

The bread is to small to hold onto. My stuff fell out. I had to make a whole new sandwich at home work my bread to be able to eat it. Put together very messy. Ordered online picked it up.

At some point McAlister’s quit the “Big Nasty” it really sounded good at the time and the reason I stoped in. With no”Big Nasty” I think Mcalisters should drop the Mc from the name and just be Alisters… Disappointing but not much can be done about corporate whims. I settled for a French dip another old favorite. This one wasn’t great, as the meat was raw and cold in the middle. Got given sweet tea instead of unsweetened, which they happily fixed. Place was clean, staff was very nice. Just not as good of food as they used to be.

Google
Great place for a quick lunch or to just hangout and visit over lunch or dinner. They offer sandwiches, big fresh gourmet salads and soups. They have a big selection of salad dressings for salads. They also offer gluten free sandwiches.we had the gluten-free Rueben sandwich with fresh fruit which was good. The Savannah chopped salad was fresh and delicious. Also we had the southwest avocado salad which was good.

Google
This is my go to lunch spot and the staff is always great! The food is always hot and fresh and I have NEVER had a problem with my order !

UPDATE 2024: I'm not sure why I went back. Still skimp on portions. Too much money for what you get. If I could give you less stars I would. The bread was equal parts chewy and soggy. The second order on my ticket requested no sauce, and no spring mix, remnants of both we in/on the sandwich. So they couldn't even be bothered to make the sandwiches after we ordered them?! Disgusting. As you can see below, the 4 oz container wasn't even full. I will not be back nor will I recommend to ANYONE.

Google
I haven't been to McAlester for years but I was offered a free entree through my T-Mobile app and using 1500 reward points and the food was good and the service was good.

Yelp
Food is always good. Drinks are huge. Prices seem a little high but nothing outrageous. Ambiance is usually quiet and casual. Every time I eat here it seems like they need to hire more people to help with the service of the food.

Yelp
The food at this location could use some work. I got a half salad and half sandwich. The salad had a lot of lettuce that looked old and had brown spots and didn't come with the dressing I requested, I had to flag down an employee to get me some. My sandwich also looked sad with ingredients that were just slapped on and falling apart with super brown avocado. I didn't have much of an appetite after seeing the presentation and didn't nearly finish my food.

Yelp
Two stars because they didn't deliver part of my order, and then only credited part of what they missed. Really irritating!! I texted then and notified GrubHub, so maybe beware The food we did get was good, sandwiches, salad, soup and cheesecake.

Michael K.

Yelp
I stopped into the Abilene location on Judge Ely and was helped and greeted by the manager Leslie and she was very helpful on asking for drink refill or if I needed anything else. Lots of places to eat and lunch there was fantastic.

Yelp
Great service in a clean and friendly environment. Sandwiches are delicious! Manager Blake was outstanding!

Yelp
We enjoyed our family lunch on Sunday. The server was friendly. She got our meals correct. The food was good too!

Yelp
Slow!!!!!! I ordered nacho basket(chips and Queso). The Queso was good but the chips were just Doritos. Took 15 minutes to get them!!!

Dennis H.

Yelp
Terrible. Took them an hour to put together a cup of premade soup and half a sandwich. Any positive review here must be from friends and family of the manager because I can not think of any good things to say about this location.

Kelsey H.

Yelp
Ate here passing through on a road trip. When we got here, there were no tables open as all of them had dirty dishes all over them. When someone eventually started bussing the tables, she gave us attitude for sitting down at a table she had already cleared off. Worst mcalisters I've ever been to by far

Adilynn M.

Yelp
Employees were super nice. Got the wrong soup but everything was still good. The strawberry lemonade is really good.

A.J. L.

Yelp
It's OK. Service was slow and was like we were inconvenience to the staff with 5 whole people in the dining room interrupting their conversation.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
I ordered a turkey on croissant and got home and discovered mold on it....after I had already eaten several bites. Check your bread, or better yet, eat anywhere else.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
Just wanted to share I just had one of the worst experiences at McAllister's ever. So my friend got a bread bowl that we discovered had mold on the bottom of it. The service was absolutely awful. Only one person on their staff was friendly. I waited for five minutes for a drink Refill and the manager looked at me three different times walked right past me twice and ignored me.

Meagan S.

Yelp
Terrible service...brought out the wrong order and refused to fix it because I didn't have the receipt that was never given to me. They were out of Lemonade and wouldn't make any more even though they didn't close for another 3 hours.
google avatar

Tina R.

Yelp
Ordered a club asked for no turkey just ham. So since I took off the turkey they charged me 2.50 more for extra ham, but isn't that the same just different meat. Then when I got it very little ham at all. I just paid 11.00 for a skimpy sandwich oh and also forgot My coleslaw. What a joke this place is. Need an actual manager not teenagers running it

Yelp
For starters, I usually have pretty good service from this McAlister's. However, today I order a salad and a cup of chili and I barely got a half of a cup of chili. I can't believe I spent $11 on barely any food at all. I also asked for cheese and onions to put in my chili and they barely gave me anything in a cup.

Sarah M.

Yelp
I wish I could give you a minus 100, but I guess one star will have to do. We got take out on Sat. the 21st. The Reuben sandwich was okay, but the club was not. Didn't want the spring mix (very weedy) not romaine either that is hard to bite and chew. Why do you not have iceberg that is perfect for all sandwiches and burgers? Anyway, we opted for no lettuce. There was meat on it but not a lot of anything else, including dressing. Also, just mayo is great, you don't need some other fancy dressing. even though there was so little it didn't really matter and the whole thing was dry. They came with a side and we ordered potato salad---which we did not get. We also ordered a side of mac and cheese. The container is not very big and it was barely half full. About 4 bites total. We also got two bowls of broccoli cheese soups. If anything could be worse than what we got, I'd hate to see or eat it. The broth was very, very thin. Like slightly colored water and completely tasteless. The broccoli was almost non-existent. All of this horrible food, little as it was, cost almost $40.00. Got a little change back from two 20's. If you think you are making money by serving crap like this, you are so mistaken. Nobody would ever come to your restaurant again and that includes us. So what have you gained by skimping on things and making some of it disgusting to eat? Good restaurants do the very best they can and so earn repeat business. Can't wait to see what goes into your spot when you are gone.

Yelp
I have eaten here several times. The food is always great and the service is always friendly. When you eat in the dining room. I ordered ahead of time for pick up at the window and the order was wrong. I didn't realize it until I got home and my daughter couldn't eat her sandwich so I called them and told them what happened. I had to drive back up there to get the correct sandwich but they replaced it and gave me a card for a free meal. It's a bummer they got it wrong but the manager was very apologetic and did what she could to make it right. Mistakes are going to happen sometimes and this was the first one I've had there so I'm still giving them 4 stars.

Yelp
I like soup. I like sandwiches. This location does both, well. The chicken and dumplings soup is surprisingly good at this location. That being said, customer service goes a long way in my household. I read many reviews complaining about bad service. This is quite the opposite. Last night I called in orders for food from two separate places. My family wanted food from one place and I wanted McAlister's. I made the orders using food apps and prepaid using my debit card. My wife and daughter paused our movie and struck out on our food run. Now, whether it was my rugged good looks or simply how into "Remember the Titans" she was, but she forgot my food when they went out. I WAS into the movie and didn't discover the oversight until after the movie ended and I went to eat my dinner. However, it was 20 minutes after closing time. I decided to give it a shot. We went to the drive up window and explained what had happened. The young lady, I should have gotten her name, cheerfully filled out order, anyway. Now, make no mistake, she did not have to do this. Whether it was her training in customer service or maybe she just had a inertial drive to do nice things, McAlister's gets the credit. Great job, folks!

Yelp
(If I could mark zero stars I would) I was stunned by the service that I received from McAlister during my last visit. During this COVID-19, my family and I have been eating a lot at McAlister or Brick Oven. We enjoy alternating between the restaurants. We ordered a few days ago and decided to order the same order, and my wife would pick up the order from work. She got off at 8 p.m., and it was a less than three-minute ride to McAlister. I ordered as I always do via the online McAlister app. At 8:03, my wife arrived at the window, asked for the order. The young lady at the window informed her that they did not have the order. Maybe it went to another store. My wife called me and asked when did I send the request? I told her to the location on N. Judge Ely, the young lady searched and then was told that the order was sent to the site on S. Clack then she asked my wife to please move up and wait. After 30 mins of waiting, my wife returned to the window and asked about the order. The manager arrived at the window and informed of the situation. The manager searched the shelf, retrieved our order, and handed her the bags. After 35 minutes of waiting, one would believe the ordeal to be over. Upon arriving home, a few side items were missing, one of the sweet lemonades was sour, they forgot to add sugar. One of the sandwiches appeared as though the sandwich makes just through a bunch of shop meat on it instead of ham as requested. The food quality had diminished somewhat after 35 minutes of sitting there on the shelf. Soggy bread from the tomato's, missing condiments, excess lettuce throwing on, it was a mess. My wife works elsewhere with one of the managers of that McAlister location. The next day she informed the individual of the incident. He told her that that was one of the typical things this particular individual would do when it is close to closing time, and there were a lot of idiots that did stuff like that working there. They would throw something together (sandwich) to get the customer on their way so they can close the restaurant up. My wife is his manager at another food chain and could not believe what she had heard, and he was a Manager at McAlister's'! Wow, she shook her head, knowing that would be the last time that friends or we would visit that particular McAlister. Indeed one of the worse experiences I, my family, or any of my co-workers/friends has encountered at McAlister's (we asked them, you know, word of the month can hurt you). The price of McAlisters' meals truly warrants better quality and service.

Yelp
I have to start by saying I came for lunch at 2pm so the lunch rush was over and the staff were in transition to the after lunch staff. That being said I stood there for 4 minutes while I got to hear them discuss who was getting to leave while one girl kept acknowledging me but admitting she didn't run the register. After my wait I appeared to have gotten the person who drew the short straw and was forced to help me. I love McAlisters and I have eaten at them all over the state at all times of day and I find them to be awesome. This one needs to retrain their employees that when you are out front your personal issues are secondary to serving customer. Once I got my food it was good so they still have that going for them. The back of their shirts say "genuine hospitality". I think they need to put that on the front to remind themselves what they're selling.

Yelp
I'm no stranger to McAlister's Deli. They are all over the place. And the food is pretty standard from one to another. And the prices are a smidge more than Jason's Deli. One good thing about MOST McAlister's is the service. They know it's lunch time and you are in a hurry so the food comes out FAST. Not so much at this location. It took over a half hour to get my sandwich. It wasn't that busy and I kept asking where it was. They assured me it wasn't lost and my food was on the way. Well, everyone at my table had finished their food. All the people around us had eaten. Why the H did I not have a sandwich. I didn't order anything weird. And if they'd apologized and admitted that they'd effed up, I might not be bitter. But I was totally treated as if this was normal. Yeah--I'll pass next time.

Tina H.

Yelp
We have ordered deliver from this restaurant 5 times. 3 out of the 5 orders were incorrect. They either forget something or send a totally wrong item! Why would you order a French Dip and not want the Au Jus? Twice I got NO Au Jus. If that's what I wanted I would order a roast beef sub!!! They are not worth the TIME or EFFORT and I will be re-posting this everywhere there is a review!!! Get it together!!!

James R.

Yelp
One of the worst meals that I've had from McAlister's. we order our food online and when we arrived, there was one person in line. Only one person was working the register while another employee was walking around. We had 4 people in our group and we each had to wait a few minutes to get our order. As they were handing out our food, people who were dining in started coming up looking for their food and complained they had been waiting for 30 minutes. We got back to our room and when we started taking out our food, it was apparent that it had been sitting for a while. My daughter normally gets the kids nachos and the queso had chunks of stuff in it. It was a terrible meal and we probably will not be going back to this location.
google avatar

Eric P.

Yelp
Walked in to grab a sandwich or something. I'd never been here before. I stood there four about 3-5 minutes without any acknowledgment by the people behind the counter. I just walked out in disgust

Yelp
McAlister's is now a favorite of mine since they opened in Abilene. If you want fresh food that isn't too pricey and isn't fast food, go here. The tea is the best! I feel like the Choose Two and other combo option portions could be bigger, but at least it all tastes great. I highly recommend the Unsweet Wildberry Tea! :)
google avatar

Jordan R.

Yelp
Worst service ever! I will not go back we had to things and there was no dressing on my sandwhich and the bacon wasn't cooked all the way! And my chili had hard brown stuff in it! And we didn't even get our water! A freaking water! The girls that we're working should be fired for not giving a little bit more effort! You don't close till 9 stop shutting down at 8:30 crappy service 100%!!

Yelp
This McAlister's Deli is very different than the ones around central Texas. We aren't from Abilene but decided to stop in for a quick bite at one of our favorite places.. kid's meals are more expensive. Service was fair- the manager seemed to have a chip on her shoulder- was very apparent when our Cashier asked her a simple question. Ciabatta bread was very dry. Plates came out correct- with less meat than usual but still enjoyed.

Yelp
Food was delicious, but service was awful. Took over twenty minutes to receive food and was not provided silverware because none was clean. Also served soup in "to-go" bowls. Staff was friendly, but seemed frustrated.
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
I'm torn on this review. I ordered the McAlisters Club and broccoli cheese soup. The food was delicious, but overpriced. My conflict is the cleanliness. The place has a nice, clean appearance. It's 6pm on a Monday night and there's a handful of people here. I'm alone and since the demand was low I was hoping for a booth. However there are 8 booths, two occupied by people and 6- yes SIX- full of dirty dishes. Plenty of employees on hand and not one is making an attempt to clean these tables. So while friendly staff and a bright appearance is nice, it's more important to have a place to sit!

Yelp
This location is absolutely awful. I ordered my food on the app and it told me it would be ready in 20 minutes. A little long for a sandwich, but okay. I got to the pick up line at the exact time it told me to be there (my friend had also ordered a sandwich and was in the car with me). We waited in a two car line for THIRTY MINUTES. When we got to the window, the rude worker told us we couldn't pick up two orders at a time, only one. 10 minutes later we got my friends sandwich and I went inside to get mine. My sandwich was not made, they did not have either of the sides that I wanted, and they put my sandwich on the wrong bread when they finally got it made. Absolutely unacceptable. Even all of this wouldn't have been so bad, but the workers were so unkind to both me and my friend. Never returning.

Roni T.

Yelp
We have eaten at many McCallisters across the country and have always found them to be consistently good. Just found the exception today! There were plenty of young workers we saw off and on but they had a young girl at the only register open trying to take orders. I understand someone needing to learn but they had no one with her helping to train so she had to constantly try to get someone to help her figure out how to work register. After a ridiculously long wait just to place our order once we got it they had completely mixed it up and shorted us a sandwich. Also sent out two pecan berry salads but only one had the chicken on it. We had to go through two people and finally the manager to even get the sandwich. They were not busy so didn't understand the long wait. Once sandwich finally was delivered it had very little chicken and was dripping with dressing. We won't be back.

John R.

Yelp
Most of these are great but the one on the south side of town is way too slow. The manager has a poor attitude! I had a call in and had to wait 30 min once I arrived after ordering it 20 min prior. Terrible service

David O.

Yelp
What a nice bunch of staff. Treated us great. Food was delicious. It was fun seeing all the families enjoying their evening out. What a great gathering place. Thank you so very much.
google avatar

Alexis M.

Yelp
Just left there from lunch. We both ordered a salad. Took 20 min and no one was there for them to be "busy". Then when we got our food, they forgot silverware for us. NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
I have hesitated in the past to post a review if this McAlister's. In our family it has become the joke that you cannot go to this restaurant without something going wrong with your order. Tonight was a good example. We called in an order that included a baked potato. When we arrived to pick it up, we were told that "they couldn't make the potato." I asked if that meant they were out of potatoes and they sheepishly said yes. I realize that not having baked potatoes isn't an unpardonable sin. However, it is consistently something like this at this location. The food is good, but the delivery is spotty at best. Be forewarned.
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
I've been to this McAlister's location several times, and each time I've been the service has seemed to get slower and worse. Today I called in my order at 6:30 and was told it would be ready by 6:50. I got to the window at 6:45 with no one else in the line, and then proceeded to wait for my food for another 45 minutes. The two servers inside walked passed the window and looked at me and never acknowledged me. Finally when one hurried over to the window she was impatient with me. I tried to be nice and think maybe they just hadn't gotten to my order or cooked my food yet and they were just busy, but on the contrary when I got home my food was so cold. I am highly disappointed.

Brooke I.

Yelp
WOULD NEVER GO TO THIS LOCATION AGAIN! I love McAlister's but this location has been nothing but awful for me. First, the charged my credit card TWICE without asking.. And then when I called about it, they were completely unhelpful and rude about it. I apparently talked to a handful of managers but the first as just as rude as the last. I got told "well it's out of our hands now" when I called to say the money hadn't been put back on my card. Not to mention it caused my card to overdraft.. Which I informed the manager and he didn't even offer to pay the overdraft fees which I had to pay for for HIS mistake. Also the drive thru for "call ahead orders" is so slow!! I waited 20 minutes in line before being fed up and going inside to get my togo order.. When I got my food it was cold, I had ordered a hot sandwich and Mac and cheese as a side and the side I couldn't even eat!! It had brown/blackish stuff all in it and was completely hard. Overall, very crappy experience and I would suggest going to the one over by the mall!

Cassie C.

Yelp
I spent 6 minutes with a rude employee from the call center, 20 minutes in the call ahead line, and my food was cold. If this was the only restaurant in Abilene, I still wouldn't go back.

Michelle N.

Yelp
Worst customer service.. been here twice with my co workers and the first time we waited for 40 mins waiting for order and since we had to go back to work we asked it to be boxed so we can go, took them another 15mins and so we are late at work and still hungrybecause we dint have time to eat. Tried going back the second time by myself past 4pm thinking maybe they'll be faster but I was proven wrong, I waited 45mins and if I didnt follow up they wouldnt make it. When they did it was the tiniest sandwich club. Will never go back. Worst experience

Sandi P.

Yelp
The restaurant on average is filthy. Come in when they are just opening and there's trash on the floor, tables not wiped and near the restrooms have a strange odor. I will no longer eat at this location

Mark D.

Yelp
Less than 15 people in restaurant other than my group. Sitting here 45 minutes after we ordered and still no food.

Tommy F.

Yelp
Couldn't tell you if the food is good. Went in after a tennis match to get a tea but no one would ever wait on us. Only ones there and stood there for nearly 10 minutes before we left! Worst McAlisters I have ever been to!

Lauri B.

Yelp
I have gone to both locations of McAlisters Deli in Abilene and this one is definitely the worst. I will not go to it again. I have learned my lesson. I am tired of getting a to go order and getting home only to find I'm missing half of my order. This place is too expensive to have such sloppy service. This restaurant will not make it if they don't improve their customer service.

Stephen K.

Yelp
We have been waiting for 45 minutes for our food and still no food. I have been to McDonalds for my kid and to ATM and back... Still no food! Terrible service. Should not take this long for food!!!!!!
