Some colleagues and I went to lunch just after 1, upon arrival we waited for a minute or two, then a waitress asked us how many, we said 4, she paused looked around and said I’ll be right back. A minute later, another lady came up and asked us how many. Then our first waitress popped back out and set down silverware and menus on a table we eventually were seated at. The waitress appeared annoyed with the other lady that was trying to serve us. All that to say that for the first time ever, I felt a negative energy when walking into the restaurant. Not really sure if the folks that work there enjoy being there. The service got better during our visit and the food was great as usual.

We had an absolutely exceptional dining experience at McBride’s Land & Cattle in Wichita Falls! Despite the restaurant being packed to the brim, our server, Mikaila, provided top-notch service that truly made our evening special. She was incredibly attentive, constantly checking on us to ensure our food was perfect and that we had everything we needed. Her warm and professional demeanor elevated the entire experience. The food was nothing short of phenomenal—hot, fresh, and far exceeding our expectations. The steaks were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and every side was a hit. The potato skins, sautéed mushrooms, fried mushrooms, sautéed onions, and mashed potatoes were all incredibly flavorful and perfectly prepared. We brought the family, and everyone left raving about their meal. The romantic yet family-friendly atmosphere added to the charm, making it the perfect spot for our evening out. McBride’s Land & Cattle delivered an unforgettable dining experience, and we can’t wait to return. Thank you, Mikaila, for making it so special!

This place was decent, but didn't blow me away. The prices are great and so is the service. The food was okay, but came out correct and in good time. It is dark inside this establishment, though.

I cannot say enough good things about the steak. A steakhouse who actually nails what most people come for, and none of the frills that come with some chain restaurants. The waitress was great and I know it’s somewhat minor, but we were sat after a party of the same size that arrived after us, and were given the same waitress time as us, so they didn’t call ahead to get on the waiting list. I brought it to their attention, and we were the next party sat. Overall it was a good meal and would go back.

Google
It felt like I went back in time to where things were simple and good. No fuss or fancy, just good quality food at a fair price. The steak was spot on both in seasoning and temp. The fixins were just right. I'm glad I chose here and not the fancy steak house. This place brings back great memories of how our country used to be.

We are traveling to the Bahamas headed to DFW for our flight out. Yeah! Speed off here at McBride's Land and Castle Company for some supper. I didn't take pictures until late... sorry 😞! I know. Anyway, I had the chicken fry, mashed potatoes, side salad. My wife had the filet mignon 6oz. Let's start with her. She orders her steak medium well, yep I know, WHY? Right? Well, it came out perfectly cooked. She said it was tender, loved her steak. Her asparagus was charred, more than likely in purpose. Her words, it was bitter and tangy which took away from the flavor of the asparagus, she ordered a double helping because she loves this vegitable. I do not; it is one of the few I don't find enjoyable aside from the florets, ends. She didn't finish the asparagus because of that. My chicken fry was stupendous, stupid good for my redneck folks. The breading stayed together and had the perfect crunch. The mashed potatoes... were mashed potatoes. lol. I ate a few of them. They weren't bad; they weren't great. They were good. My salad, on the other hand, I didn't care for.... not because it was bad; but because I don't care for bitter greens. If that is you, you wouldn't enjoyed the salad. The ranch was nice. My major complaint is the bathroom. It smells like a sewer plant. The only thing about that is, if am owner allows a place the public can go to get in that condition, it makes you wonder about the kitchen where the customers can't go. I don't know, just how my mind works. The bathroom was sickening with the smell. I would recommend the food. Didn't get sick.. .lol; and the food for the most part was good. Stay away from the bathroom if you can. Well off top the Bahamas!!!! Peace ya'll!!

Google
The mesquite grilled shrimp are delicious. The salad has fresh lettuce (not out of a bag). The baked potato was cooked perfectly. The food came out quickly and the waitress checked on us often. The only downside is it is an old restaurant and dark inside. But it didn’t smell old and musty.

Google
My husband and I both ordered the petite filet mignon. We both got the salads which were awesome and fresh. He had a loaded baked potato and I had them mixed vegetables. Both were delicious. We enjoyed the Texas toast. It was very busy because the early bird special was just ending so they have great pricing up until six. 5 to 6. We were able to order wine as they have a full service bar. It was a lovely experience.

Yelp
This McBrides is WAY better than the one on Maplewood! Took my father in law for pre Father's Day dinner. The ambiance is very nice, the food is wonderful and the service was great! I believe our servers name was Tara or something like that. She was wonderful!! My father in law loved his steak and OMG he got the biggest piece of cheesecake I had EVER seen! He loved every bite We will definitely be going back

Yelp
3.5 came here with some friends to enjoy a birthday lunch. The waitress is nice, but I got super busy. Took a little bit to get our food but for the first time and my steak and fish were both really good. Everyone at the table liked their food and agreed that we needed some extra seasoning. They don't have Texas Pete at this restaurant so it's a Tabasco type spot just FYI. It was a little bit chilly. Had a good atmosphere usually a little dark ambience. Had some friends who hadn't been here for years that we brought with us and they enjoyed their food, they had a couple to go boxes. All in all I rather go to this restaurant than the other one on the other side of town. For a bit different, but neither one of them is diverse in anyway, and can make you feel some kind of way when you're the only person over certain ethnicity, background or culture and a crowd a restaurant.

Yelp
I had friends visiting from Oregon for a wedding. I needed a restaurant to feed them and treat them like royalty. I picked the right one. They were impressed with the atmosphere, the service, and the food. They had an incredible evening.

Yelp
Wichita Falls, TX. First off this is a log cabin and the interior is right out of the 1950s I think. Looks original. The interior is lowly lit and it took a minute to adjust to the light. The food was delicious! The prices were quite far and maybe better than fair . The portions were large! Casual, off beat, delicious with great service!!
google avatar

Yelp
Big fan of this steak joint in WF! One of the few good restaurants in town. We always get the Sir for Two; giant sirloin with 2 fully loaded baked potatoes, onion rings and a salad. A lot of bang for your buck and the steak is always juicy and flavorful. The country singer, saddles hanging from the ceiling and overall country cabin ambience makes it stand out from other steak places. The service can be spotty. Definitely a stop for steak lovers!

Yelp
Great steak but apparently we were the last table for the evening though no one told us they were closing and didn't have hours on door. We all three ordered steaks which were cooked to the ordered temperatures and were treated as good steak should be treated - let the meat shine and don't overcomplicate it. The sides were mediocre and could've been warmer. Warmth was not found in the wait staff as they were eager for us to leave. I wish we would've know they were closing as we felt more a pest than a guest.

Yelp
Pretty good food. Got a good Texas vibe. Very reasonable prices. If you want a decent steak, they're not bad. The waitress and staff were very friendly. If you're coming from out of town and want to goto a local steak place, this place is neat.

Yelp
Best steak in Wichita Falls . The atmosphere is really great as is the service.I always add the grilled mushrooms to my order it puts it over the top.

Michelle N.

Yelp
The service was very good. Wait staff did a great job. The food was ok. The Tuna steak seemed to lack flavor and was a little dry and over cooked. The asparagus was cooked oddly and was very mushy and chewy at the same time. Could not figure out what cooking method they were going for. The baked potato was the best thing on the plate, it would have been nice to get a little more of the butter, sour cream and bacon toppings. I think there was maybe a scant tablespoon of butter for a fairly large baked potato. Not sure why the quality of food seems so different for this place from years past.

Yelp
Stopped by for dinner on Saturday at 8:38pm. Was told they close at 8:30pm. On a Saturday. They need to update their website and online info.

Yelp
I love an old time local independent western steakhouse. Nothing fancy just some basic but good for the money good steak and tater and sides and such. I don't set the bar high like I would at a fancy schmancy steakhouse but I expect it to be as good if not better than Texas Roadhouse. So let's start with the appetizers. We got the combo and it was clear the mushrooms, zucchini, and cheese sticks came out of the freezer and I'm 90% sure the potato skins did too. My steak was supposed to be medium rare but it was definitely medium to medium well. Sautéed mushrooms were good and the baked potato was satisfying. Someone else got ribs - they asked for bbq sauce but was told they don't have BBQ sauce, just the secret sauce they put on the ribs. I'm sure like many restaurants they are short staffed as our service was slow but I try to be forgiving on that due to the issues in the industry. All that said, it was a decent experience but I'd rather go to Texas Roadhouse next time for the same money or find another local joint.

Blythe C.

Yelp
Best steaks in town! Love the cozy feeling and amazing food! My favorite item is the ribeye and baked potato, it never disappoints!!!
google avatar

Teresa M.

Yelp
We were in the area and needed some lunch. Their website says open for lunch until 2 pm. We arrived shortly before 1:30 pm. We were told that they had stopped serving lunch. Excuse me but you website says 2:00 pm.

B G.

Yelp
We love that we can get the steak for two. It comes with salads and baked potatoes with all the trimmings for around $25. The steak always is cooked perfect. The only thing that was not perfect was the area we were seated is always cold. The air blows right on you.

Fred F.

Yelp
Monday night ribeye special Waited 10 minutes for waitress to finally show up Had to go to front to ask what was taking so long Steak was ok 45 years ago this was the best place in Wichita Falls to eat That day is long gone It's hard to believe in a city the size of Wichita Falls is so hard to find a good restaurant for your money Most have horrible service and overpriced food

Yelp
The steak was dry and tough. I ordered a top sirloin, rare. It had way too much fat for a sirloin. My sister's (ordered rare) top sirloin was overcooked, dry, tough, and super fatty. Someone else in our party ordered well-done, and their steak was burnt so badly it was inedible. The asparagus was overcooked to the point it was mushy. The potato skin appetizer was the tastiest part of the meal. We never received a drink menu, if they have one. Someone in our party asked about beer, and the selection was mostly cheap American beers. We saw some other customers with wine and possibly cocktails. The atmosphere is laid back. I would call the decor "dark ranch". It's dimly lit with pictures of farms and animals, and I think 2 cow heads. It's not in your face Texas. Lots of wood. It was quite cool inside, so the more sensitive might want a jacket. We came in with a large party. It took almost 3 hours for us all to order and receive our food. People were frequently out of drinks or needing to order something, and couldn't find our waitresses. They have the space, but I wouldn't recommend for large groups.

Yelp
Had our anniversary dinner last night. Hubby thoroughly enjoyed his prime rib dinner cooked to perfection and I (always) enjoyed the ribs and cowboy beans. Yes there was Texas toast and baked potato but we came for the meat. Oh and the Cabernet Sauvignon we had was extra delicious due to it being only $4.25 per glass. We will definitely be back!!!

Yelp
I'm sad to say that as someone who has frequented McBrides, I think it's time to call it quits. The last few times have been absolute disasters between appetizers being forgotten, drinks never making it to the table, and incredibly rude staff experiences. The last time we visited, my mother's dish was made with shrimp when we asked for chicken- initially she tried to stomach it, but simply couldn't. When asking the wait staff if she could just give that portion to her brother who was with us and HAD ordered the shrimp dish (since the screw up was on them anyways) the waitress got the bartender to come over and tell us that, no, they'd have to remove the plate. When my mother attempted to pass the plate to my uncle, it was forcefully snatched from her hands by the bartender and returned to the kitchen to, presumably, be thrown away. I can't think of anywhere where actions like this should be acceptable, especially in an establishment where so much money is spent to begin with. This is just one of a few very sour encounters that have turned me away, and I will continue to press other past patrons to take their business elsewhere.

Yelp
I went today with some friends for a bday celebration. The meatloaf was excellent.I wish they had filtered water .They had bottle so I had to purchase one
google avatar

Karen E.

Yelp
Atmosphere was nice & clean. Food was good. Waitress was nice but hurried. We got the shrimp cocktail appetizer & Monday specials. Super yummy!
google avatar

Yelp
Food is terrible and expensive. Literally nothing is worth eating. Potato skins came out burned. Steaks came out either completely over cooked or raw. When they finally corrected the steaks to med rare they were tasteless. "German" potato salad was cold and tasted nothing like German potato salad. Sautéed mushrooms were canned mushrooms that threw into a pan. Bill was $110 for garbage food.
google avatar

Roro O.

Yelp
Not from Texas, but had a craving for a steak fix. Yelped a couple spots and tried a few spots but McBrides Land and Cattle takes the cake. Salad was served in a cold bowl with crispy lettuce and my steak was made to perfection, medium rare. The sides just completed the tastiness of my meal and the friendly staff won me over. I'll be coming back.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
We liked this place. It's dark and decor reminds one of the old time steakhouses I used to find in Montana. It's all done with wood. We had a ribeye and a filet. Both were excellent and cooked right. Very tender. Salads were run of the mill- a little spinach added in. What we thought was odd is that they bring a large carousel with bacon, cheese, sour cream and chives out to your table for your potato. We couldn't imagine the restaurant actually dumping all that out after each use. It made us wonder how often those carousels are re-used throughout the evening. I'm giving this place 5 stars on food quality and price. It has a few quirks but nothing I found too serious.
google avatar

Jack S.

Yelp
They walked past my wife to seat someone else. We were sat at a dirty table and they just opened. The server greeted multiple tables sat after us. We gave up and left to find a place that cared we were there. I called and asked for a manager and was told there was no manager working (Saturday). I asked when a manager would be there and was told Tuesday, no Wednesday, no Tuesday, sometime between 11 and 1:30 cause they are open then. Terrible experience with staff that didn't care and no leadership.
google avatar

Ivy M.

Yelp
If not for our waitress, this experience would be as dull as the dining room lighting. We've visited here a couple times now and both times we have experienced the same hostess. She is memorable due to the unwelcoming stare and mute demeanor. It just feels like money can be better spent elsewhere. Ribs were tender. Toast was tough. Onion ring not exciting.
google avatar

Ralph T.

Yelp
This place is absolutely he worst. What we ordered and what we got was two different things. Then when we spoke to management he made it out to be our problem and made excuses for the cook staff. Go to Texas Road House if you want a good meal.
google avatar

G F.

Yelp
What a fantastic meal. I found this great steakhouse driving through town on our way to Colorado . I ordered the Ribeye and my husband the prime rib. Everything we ordered was incredible from the onion ring, the bread , the salad and the meat was cook to perfection .We will be back anytime I pass by.

Yelp
First time I've been back to visit and eat at McBride's in more than 30 years. The building doesn't seem to have been updated or spruced up since I was here last in the 80's. That being said, our server was outstanding! We had a group of ten and she didn't miss a beat. One of the best servers I've had in a long time. In the area I live at now, a decent 10oz filet would cost close to $100. The one I had at McBride's for only $24 was more juicy, flavorful, and tender than any I've had in a few years. Our entire group had a great meal and excellent service!

Sarge R.

Yelp
Best steak worst hours. If you're in the mood for steak then it's probably closed during big peak hours.

Teresa J.

Yelp
Great RIBEYE. Awesome service. Great value. Wonderful atmosphere. Quick time from ordering to eating.

Cassandra H.

Yelp
Do not eat at this place. They have a rodent problem. There was mouse droppings in my drink. It came up through my straw, I spit out to see what was in my drink and it was mouse poop. The waitress even admitted that they had a rodent problems. It was the grossest thing that has ever happened to be.
google avatar

Alex P.

Yelp
I must confess that the outside of McBride Land & Cattle Co has seen better days with the Native American Statue leaning closer to the sidewalk, the old sign, and the building itself. Normally with dark ambient lighting in the evenings, it is slightly hard to see the country inspired decor. The food is simply amazing. The meat is cooked to your request with a hearty side of your choosing. The salads are quite delicious with bacon, cheese, and ranch served on the side. The staff is quite helpful and friendly to boot.
google avatar

Renni G.

Yelp
Quite the gathering place if I do say so myself! Hubby and I stopped by for dinner recently and the place was nearly packed. I think if our party was larger than 2 we probably would have had to wait. Nearly every table was filled with a group of 6 or more! Many of the tables were seated with 10-20! The restaurant is one large room sort of like a huge lodge. I found it a bit odd we were seated and then had to wait about 5 minutes for menus. Usually they (menus) come right when you are seated...at least I had thought so?? When we were finally given menus..correction. One menu. Two people. I'm horrible at math, but that doesn't add up...usually two people = two menus? Sometimes it's little things like two menus is nice. Maybe I ask too much? Did they not have more menus to spare? Oh, I feel a Seinfeld episode coming on... While it's known as a "steakhouse" I can't say I was overly impressed. I think for the area it probably isn't bad and I'm sure it's not the worst but I can't rave over anything from the meal. Hubby is the true carnivore in the house so he had to get a ribeye. He liked it but thought it was a little "grisly" for his taste but in his words "It's alright, but I've had better" I tasted it and thought it was ok as well. His came with a choice of two sides. (tons to pick from and he asked for mushrooms and asparagus). The asparagus was roasted and seasoned well. The sauteed mushrooms. Whoa! I don't know but neither of us could eat more than a bite...way too salty tasting. I, on the other hand, opted for the catfish platter. Probably not the smartest thing to order especially when you're dining at a steakhouse but I wasn't in the mood for red meat. Low and behold the catfish was battered and fried really well. Of course it was a bit greasy but that's expected. The portion was huge. I don't recall how many pieces but at least 5-7? I couldn't even eat them all. It came with fries but I asked to get a side of mac and cheese instead. (wasn't able to substitute it either) What is it with my M&C craving lately? Probably because it's been forever since I've had it and it was okay. It was super cheesy and gooey. I thought the noodles were a bit overcooked but hubby licked the cup clean. Overall, the place wasn't bad. It's more like 3.5/5. It gets pretty busy on weekend nights so for larger parties...definitely make reservations! Not sure if we'll be back, but I'd hope the service would be better. Also I'd try something else since the menu has a decent selection of food. Soups, salads, sandwiches and of course steaks. For the value not bad. Two drinks and two entrees was only $45. And if you show them ID, they gladly provide a military discount!
google avatar

Jay C.

Yelp
Mouth watering steaks! I've been here a few times and it's always on point. They also give a military discount. Staff is nice and friendly as well
google avatar

James J.

Yelp
While lunch at McBrides was okay, especially my grilled chicken salad, the service left a lot to be desired. We had server #25 today, she never gave her name. She brought the food and never came back to ask how my wife's steak was - which was tough by the way. And, she finally came back and refilled my water after we were done eating. I recommend going somewhere else if you are bothered by poor service
google avatar

George C.

Yelp
We loved this place. Came with a group of political types who are used to eating in steak restaurants in DC and Austin. Truth is, the steak here (had the 10 ounce filet) was as good as anything I've had in most other places. The sides are more authentically small town Texas. You won't find lobster bisque on the menu, but if you want a garden salad with some ranch dressing followed by a baked potato served with all of the sides, you'll be quite happy.
google avatar

Will D.

Yelp
The Cowboy cut Ribeye is awesome. Ive been back 3 times in the last month. The service is wonderful. They are very polite and friendly. The atmosphere is good, just a bit dark inside. Otherwise fantastic place to grab a steak!
google avatar

Billy R.

Yelp
The steak was over cooked but it was still good to me. The lighting in there was awful. I had trouble seeing the menu. We got there at 5pm and didn't get our meals till 5:30ish but it was acceptable bc the waitress was nice and kept checking in on us. Overall, the place was good but the steak was way overpriced. They are good but if you're going to make me pay $30 for a steak, at least have rolls, a toss salad, or something to eat while you wait on the main dish.

Tina P.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. Hostess and waitress were extremely rude. Food was mediocre at best.
google avatar

Justin J.

Yelp
A small locally owned steakhouse in downtown Wichita Falls, not to be confused with another steakhouse called McBride's across town, McBride's Land and cattle is a great place for either lunch or dinner. Hours can be a little odd, and lighting inside is lacking, and it can be a little dark. However this place is fantastic. Prices are about what you would expect from a steakhouse, and are actually competitive with other local steakhouses. One thing that's really nice about them, if you order a baked potato, the only thing that will come on the potato is butter, they will bring you a few large cups with cheese, bacon bits, and sour cream, so you can add as much or as little as you want. The steaks are excellent and they have dozens of mix and match choices as well. You can get a filet migon and shrimp for $21. That's also with two sides! Arguably the best steakhouse in town.

Zachary C.

Yelp
Amazing steak... Been all over the world and eaten plenty of beef... I had the cowboy cut ribeye and it was exactly what I had hoped it would be... Perfectly cooked to medium, you can tell the quality of the steak as well as it is very well seasoned... The juice in your mouth on every bite exploded as if the marbling in the steak was created just for me... Great steak! Certainly will come back... Food service, the waitress was very put together on her order... 9 people at one table isn't exactly a breeze... But getting food in about an hours time is very... VERY reasonable, the expediter in the back I'm sure has a rough time with all the business going on here... But it is extremely well done and very UP TO DATE unlike some of the other reviews... Cost, it's a bit on the pricey side but well worth the quality and quantity... Overall I maintain the position this restaurant is a 5 star review... Rock solid food for reasonable prices and good customer service... Just be prepared to have some patience... You are not that special to have someone else be sorry because you had to wait an hour to get your food...

Yelp
The lunch menu is very affordable. The steak was amazing! The service was also very good. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Locals recommended. Arrived at 5 PM. Quickly crowded. Service slow. Took long time to get local wine to taste and quickly decided to get a Ca Cab. That took mid meal till it arrived. I had ribeye (rare) and frog legs with German potatoes(they were excellent). Steak and asparagus were not hot but good. Wife had steak and ribs. Not really hot either. Taking home 1/2 of steak and potatoes. Prob better when hot. Will try another place next time.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great restaurant. Had the lunch ribeye and chicken fried steak. Both we very very good. Beautiful salad and baked potato. Service was outstanding Mary brought the food and Alisa took the check. Both so friendly and helpful. Don't miss this place if in Wichita Falls and hungry. Stopped at McB again last night, got the CFS, not the biggest ever seen but was the best. Flavor was just awesome, crisp beautiful crust gravy just like mamas so so good. Great potato will all the condiments also very good salad and real quality wait staff and cashiers. Love the place

Tim M.

Yelp
I had a business lunch here. I was extremely pleased. Very nice. Steak was good quality. Service was great. Atmosphere was nice. Walking distance from downtown. Very convenient. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars, is that I did not have a dinner meal. And five stars is excellent in my book. This is definitely a good steakhouse. If you want a genuine Texas appeal in a steakhouse off the beaten path, this is the place for it. I definitely recommend.

Deanna W.

Yelp
McBrides came highly recommended from a few locals in the area. The decor was very fitting. The food was okay. The steak was cooked perfectly and had great flavor but the sides were mediocre. We had fries and onion rings and wouldn't have them again. We had frog legs for an appetizer and they were bland but with a sauce they were decent.
google avatar

Gerg P.

Yelp
Wow!! Great tasting steaks, potatoes, very nice rustic atmosphere. Not your typical California steak house, thank goodness! Tender steaks, flavorful, good service, reasonable prices, beer selection could have Rahr crafts on tap though. Will be back, Better then the WoodShed in FW.

Yelp
Well my 42 year love affair with McBride's Land & Cattle has come to an end and it pains me to write this. I have loved this place for the atmosphere, service, quality of food and value. They have always been known for the freshest of everything and produced one of the most consistent products in the area. When I judge a restaurant, I base it on the meal as a whole, not just one component. The atmosphere is basically the same, and the staff are great, the food has changed. One of their best products was their baked potatoes. I tried to duplicate them at home but never could get it like they did. They were gigantic and delicious- full of flavor. I noticed a big difference last Saturday nite. They were about half the size and didn't taste the same, almost tasted left over.I have since discovered that they are frozen and reheated. Also a signature item on the steak was a hand cut, hand battered onion ring. Not anymore....they are frozen premade from a bag as well. Then there was the steak....the cowboy cut ribeye: not the same as I have had in the past, it was good, but not great. I believe that will be my last visit unless I am requested to go for a business lunch. Its a shame, because this was the best at one time!

Yelp
Not just a steakhouse. They have catfish, quail, and froglegs to name a few. I get the froglegs as an appitizer. My steak was tasty, spiced and cooked perfectly. McBride Land and Cattle on Scott is the original McBride. Don't be fooled by others.
