"These purveyors of ultra-creamy ice cream got their start in Santa Barbara in 1948, and the heritage of their brand is hugely important to them. Their dairy is sourced from grass-fed cows which are raised just north of LA on the central coast, and they've been working with the same creamery since they got their start (eggs are cage-free, too). This is the kind of place where classic flavors like vanilla, chocolate, and the not-so-classic chocolate-covered strawberry reign supreme, and it probably goes without saying that kids can't get enough of it. You can buy this creamy goodness at many upscale grocery stores, but we prefer to have it scooped for us at either their Grand Central Market or Studio City locations. "

Wow this place is incredible! The service was excellent. The woman who helped us was super friendly and helpful. We each got two flavors in waffle cups: banana salted caramel + peanut butter and churro con leche + the seasonal Martinelli cranberry apple cider. Every flavor was amazing! The banana salted caramel particularly delicious. The waffle cone was fresh and perfectly crisp. Definitely want to go back and try all their flavors!

Google
The portion size was incredibly disappointing. I ordered a cone, and it wasn’t even filled properly—just barely enough to cover the top. For the price, I expected much better. The quality might be fine, but the lack of value left me frustrated. Probably won’t return unless they improve their servings.

Google
One of my absolute favorite ice cream shops of all times! Pictured in DTLA but I frequent Studio City the most because it’s the closest to me. No matter where or what they scoop you can’t go wrong. Their chocolate chip cookies are also delicious.

Google
Good ice cream with innovative flavors at great rates (4 flavor scoops for $8.50). Texture is really smooth and it tastes really good. They have 24 flavors (4 vegan) with good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Our favorites were caramel brownie, triple chocolate and vanilla boysenberry jam. They have a lot of toppings and brownie sundaes too. They are pro-environment and use steel spoons for sampling.

Google
Probably the freshest ice cream I have ever had. Loved the different variety and the staff was really nice allowing you to try different flavors without the eyeroll or "ugh" look other places give. The scoops were the perfect size too and the cones so fresh. We each got 2 scoops in waffle cones and ate both to the last drop.

Google
My wife dragged me here and I’m not usually a big fan of ice cream but wow…this place tasted amazing. From what we saw the ice cream was also organic and grass fed. This is definitely our new spot.

Great shake, one of the best I had I a while. The sea salt and cream was amazing. Price is bit higher but so worth it.

OMG!! There aren't enough adjectives to describe this amazing place! So, I flew to LA to spend time with my sister, who is going through a rough time right now. Kathy decided to give this place a try, saying she'd been waiting to try it for a while. Jayden greeted us and began by saying, "welcome to the best ice cream in the world!" He went on to say we can try every ice cream you see, and you don't have to buy anything!" Then, he proudly talked about the ingredients and offered us some of his favorites! I swear I felt like I was in Napa Valley at a wine tasting!! He described how the texture of each ingredient would taste and feel in your mouth and then he would describe which ingredient you could taste as you finished the tasting! We tried about 10 different ice creams and finally decided on two: the Dutchmen Chocolate and the Banana Salted Caramel! Both were AMAZING!! you could taste the love!! My sister was so overwhelmed by Jayden's passion and enthusiasm that she got teary- eyed! Like I said, she's going through a lot right now, so as tears welled in her eyes she said, "This was exactly what I needed!" I was so thrilled to see her experience that small moment of pure joy! Thank you Jayden and McConnell's ice cream for that exquisite moment and fabulous ice cream!!

Yelp
I haven't eaten garbage ice cream like Ben and Jerry's or haagenblahs since I found McConnell's, specifically their organic vanilla. It's better than any ice cream I've had and it's 4 ingredients. Do yourself a favor and stay away from processed shit. I know it's hard in our country, you have to go out of the way to be healthy but it's worth it. Lactose intolerance isn't an issue when the ingredients are real and few. Weird. Try it
google avatar

Yelp
Classique ice cream. Definitely on the sweeter side with interesting flavors. Texture is great and can't go wrong with it, just a little on the pricier side. Jenni's is still better.

Yelp
Absolutely love this ice cream, and I always find myself coming back. Today I tried something new, not sure if it was a limited time flavor or just in general a new flavor. But, I got the "Baby you're a firework: Blue Raspberry" mixed with Oreos for an ice cream shake. The blue raspberry was sweet and creamy, and I thought it would be paired well with the Oreos. The lady helping me was super friendly, I went late at night so there were not much of a line. Also lots of places to sit down and enjoy your ice cream. If you're unable to visit, I think you can find some of the pints at your local grocery store.

Yelp
The scoop of chocolate covered strawberries (~$7) was absolutely heavenly!!! I think I found my favorite ice cream flavor in the world. Huge chunks of freeze dried strawberries with bits of chocolate in a vanilla base.. it truly could not get better than this. Will be looking forward to coming back and perhaps trying their other flavors but honestly I just want more of what I got today. Servers were super friendly and rang us up quickly. There's a few chairs inside and outside, but the beach is just about a 10 minute walk away so you can enjoy some delicious ice cream with a view and have a beautiful time. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Yelp
Coffee is my absolute fave! Portions generous. Got waffle cup and it was underwhelming. Skip it and just get the cone or cup.

Yelp
Even though I swore off dessert for 2024, I took my wife for an ice cream date to end our busy week. I could not think of a better place for us to go than McConnell's. They're based in Santa Barbara but we thankfully have this location closer to us here in Studio City. I love that they have so many unique flavors and that you can choose up to two for a single scoop. Having the option to get two flavors is much appreciated! I combined churros con leche with sea salt cream & cookies and my sweet tooth was so grateful. If there's no where to sit inside, you can also sit out front and enjoy your ice cream unbothered. This is a great place to have in the neighborhood when you just want a little treat or want to try some quality ice cream.

Yelp
I am an ice cream lover and my favorite flavor is salted caramel. So I was walking by and stopped to try them. Not very exciting to be honest. Not a long line and pricing was same as everywhere else. But that flavor was not satisfying to me! Great neighborhood though.
google avatar

Angela B.

Yelp
Wow you've never had ice cream this good! Every flavor is delicious and even when you blend them together they still taste so great! Can't wait for summer time they usually are open later then too! The best treat and friendly staff.
google avatar

Yelp
You're never going to be disappointed with this Santa Barbara founded company. Some of my favorite ice cream in California. Delicious flavors, some with enough of a twist to make some of your go-to classics fresh and new. The interior looks like an old school ice cream parlor with red, white, and wood theming throughout. Super clean and bright. We went right at opening as we were strolling in the area and we got our ice cream right away by the girl behind the counter. I opted for the "Single", which gives you the option of one or two scoops. I got Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate, and Sea Salt Cream and Cookies - SO good. The flavors are perfectly indulgent and you'll be scraping the cup or happily finishing your waffle cone. TIPS: street parking only. Ask to test flavors if you're not sure. And once you find the flavor you love, check the freezer next to the checkout to see if they have a pint you can purchase to take home with you!

Yelp
McConnnell's ice cream is the real deal. Founded in 1949, they do it all real. Old school, real ingredients, made from scratch. Hailing from Santa Barbara, it's basically an ice cream institution at this point. They have so many flavors now and all of them are stellar. Creamy and full of flavor, I absolutely loved it. The chocolate caramel is phenomenal, out of this world. You should definitely be eating this high quality ice cream when you indulge!
google avatar

stephanie d.

Yelp
I got the sundae with two scoops, mint chip and my second was some sort of chocolate brownie caramel flavor. Topping: nuts, chocolate syrup and whipped cream. I wanted bananas but they dont serve that. That's ok. I would have liked a little more than they offered for price. I felt the scoops were a tad smaller than I liked. It was a small bowl. But it tasted so good. Line was long but employees worked fast to keep us moving. We parked at the bank parking lot. Probably illegally but it was late and bank was closed.
google avatar

Patricia D.

Yelp
McConnells just makes me so happy! The creaminess of the ice cream makes me smile with every bite. Mint chip is a must! And for non dairy folks the non dairy cookies and cream is delicious. There's no picture bc that's how quickly I dug into the ice cream lol.

Yelp
My kids think McConnell's ice cream is the world's very best, even better than the Haagen-Dazs ice cream that I've always considered amazing. So, every time my kids want ice cream, we go to this store. It's very easy to quickly pop-in, and quickly transact, which is important because oftentimes I have to double-park outside while my kids run inside to grab a couple of pints from the store and return to the car quickly, so kudos to their quick service. It's a lovely place, and I often see customers lolling around outside the store, enjoying their ice cream while admiring the sauntering strollers.

Yelp
Cute ice cream spot on Ventura Place! Perfect post brunch or just for a treat. Loved the fact that you could get two flavors.
google avatar

Serene A.

Yelp
Ice cream is creamy and good, have it after pizza!! When I went the staff let me try as much ice cream as I wanted since all the flavors sounded so good. It's nice inside with some seating and the outside store front also has a ledge you can sit at if it too busy inside.

Yelp
As first-time customers at McConnell's, my boyfriend and I had the most delightful experience, all thanks to Jay (I think that's he said his name was). From the moment we walked in, Jay's friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. He guided us through an impressive array of ice cream flavors with such enthusiasm and expertise. We tried almost everything on the list - give or take! Jay has a true palette for ice creams. His descriptions of each flavor were nothing short of poetic. He vividly described how each one melts in your mouth, painting a delicious picture that made choosing a flavor almost impossible--in the best way possible! His knowledge and passion for ice cream truly shone through. Jay provided great customer service, which can be rare nowadays. Trying multiple flavors with Jay's assistance was an absolute treat. His kindness and patience in helping us find the perfect scoop made our visit unforgettable. If you ever find yourself at McConnell's, make sure to ask for Jay. He's changing the world and palettes, one ice cream scoop at a time! As for what we ended up getting from ALL OF THE WONDERFUL FLAVORS THEY HAVE TO OFFER: I got banana & salted caramel paired with Santa Barbara Strawberry, my bf ended up with a classic mint chocolate chip paired with cookies and cream! A really great pick-me-up after having lunch at one of the restaurants next door. Couldn't keep it short but this review for this particular experience was definitely sweet! Thank you, Jay! We can't wait to come back and try more flavors with your expert guidance.

Yelp
Customer service is the worse! I don't understand what's so hard about splitting a single and giving me such a hard time every time! Because I simply want to split a single for my two sons! It's so ridiculous who cares if I want to split it!! What's the big deal!

Yelp
After drooling over a yelp friend's review, I immediately added this ice cream shop to my "must go to" collection. Tonight was the perfect night to take my daughter and the little boy she was babysitting. I had to try the Earl Grey Tea & shortbread, yum, the lemon Marionberry and mapled blueberry with shortbread. Such a great variety of flavors. Final decision...1 scoop of Eureka Lemon Marionberries & Maple Blueberries w/shortbread. My daughter went with the Churros & Sprinkle Cake, she gave me a taste, yum! Our kiddo went with Chocolate chip. (He finished before we did!) The ice cream had a creamy rich texture was flavorful and fresh tasting. They have several tables inside for sitting and a few benches out front. My 1 scoop with 2 flavors was $6.25. (For 3 single scoops is cost $18.75) It seems this is the going rate now for a scoop of ice cream when you go out. Not something I would do every day but now and then it's definitely worth it! HIGHLIGHTS: The ice cream is very good. Interesting flavors as well as traditional ones. Plenty of metered parking available. A fun place to take the family and then stroll around Studio City. Also fun to go with your friends. **They have floats, sundaes, waffle cones and cookies on the menu. Non dairy ice cream options are available as well.

Yelp
A cute little shop open late and in an ideal part of town - complete with delicious flavors and samples!! McConnell's pricepoint is a bit high compared to the conventional options, but in-line with the other artisan ice cream joints around the area. Easiest to walk here from somewhere else, though there's ample street parking. It's right next door to Alfred's. I like splitting single and double scoops for more variety. I like that portions are generous, so the scoops aren't tiny.
google avatar

Miranda R.

Yelp
My friends tried this ice creamery days before and recommended we stop and try it. I AM SO GLAD WE DID! The Churros con Leche is absolutely phenomenal. I am definitely in love and it's not too milky or overwhelming sweet. It's just right. If you're in the area I seriously recommend you stop by at have a try!!
google avatar

Yelp
Visited McConnell's Fine Ice Cream during the holidays with some friends to enjoy a cool treat on an unusually hot day. I've been going back every since. I really like a good waffle cone but. I ordered a milk shakes. One of my favorites is blending the banana & salted caramel with the double peanut butter chip. Nothing but delicious heaveness., The staff was great, blending the flavors well and making the drink slightly thick. The paper straw makes it difficult to enjoy a shake without a little struggle but tasty none the less.
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
You are probably coming here for ice cream because it's an ice cream shop but don't sleep on the salted caramel cookies. They bake them fresh and they are so good with your ice cream or even just to take home.
google avatar

Amber C.

Yelp
The ice cream is rich, superb; the best quality. It's soooo good. This ice cream is what dreams are made of. That's why I call it ice dream, instead of ice cream. It makes life worth living. It will turn a sad B**** into a glad b**** . Trust! You don't want to miss out on this. The flavors here are really really special and they compliment each other well. There's enough variety to have a flavor for everyone. So worth it!
google avatar

Brooke I.

Yelp
I LOVE McConnell's - they always have an assortment of unique flavors and they're all delicious. If you're not sure what to order and you like citrus, you can never go wrong with their Eureka Lemon & Marionberries. It's fantastically refreshing. If you're between flavors, you can get 2 flavors on a single size in a cup or cone, which makes choosing a bit easier. The staff is friendly, and it's not too crowded on off hours. This particular location has a nice bench to sit at out front, as well as indoor seating. Street parking was easy and can be found on both sides of the road. Definitely a must try if you're in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Greatful to have a high quality ice cream place so close. The flavors are wonderful, not... strange. Normally we would drive out to Fosselmans out near Pasadena but given this place is so much closer and we enjoy their malts, we'll be visiting here more often! Delicious !
google avatar

Deana M.

Yelp
Yum! We came in Sunday night after dinner and the line wasn't too bad. The service was quick and there were a lot of ice cream to choose from. The chocolate and strawberry flavors are my favorite. It was decadent and rich in flavors.
google avatar

Marla B.

Yelp
Ordered priority delivery from Uber Eats. To make sure there would be no melting. Both ice creams delivered were covered with ice on the exterior like their freezer is not working right. They had the nerve to ring it up and sell it anyway and let the driver deliver it to me. No, thanks, won't be doing this again. Extremely disappointed, everyone knows delivery is expensive. You really should think about that when your a proprietor and selling your supposed to be frozen merchandise. The ice cream was half soft as well. Horrible experience.

John S.

Yelp
I am sorry to have to write this poor review, because I do love the ice cream, however, the quantity and what they charge are ridiculous. $6.95 for two flavors that were a tablespoon size scoop ?!?! Really?! If you go to another ice cream shop on Ventura Blvd; your quantity is 3x as much for the same if not lower price. Very disappointed in this outcome I am sorry to say. Service was great, Ambiance was great, but value was poor. Just telling the truth.
google avatar

Winnie L.

Yelp
Pro-tip: You're better off getting two double scoops and splitting the flavors than getting the flight - the flight portions were sooo small. Highlights: The absolute most amazing flavor combinations. My boyfriend and I ordered two flights and a double scoop because there were ten flavors we absolutely needed to try. I eat a looooot of ice cream and I think Mcconnells may be my new favorite ice cream place. The ice cream was also the right texture and not too sweet. I also like the option to order flights or split scoops between two flavors. Lowlights: Two people were working when we ordered, a younger female and an older male. We definitely noticed the scoops from the older man were significantly bigger so that's always disappointing to see a notable size difference based on the worker.
google avatar

Nini N.

Yelp
this ice cream slaps every single time. my favs are the earl grey, chocolate covered strawberry, lemon & marionberry, and honey cornbread. the scoops are sooo creamy & rich, and the flavors are def on point. it's a little pricey for the scoop size, but I'd say it's definitely worth the money. the cookies are also v good, so I recommend trying out the ice cream sammies!!
google avatar

Abzal T.

Yelp
McConnell's Fine Ice Creams at GCM in LA is fantastic. I absolutely love their lemon flavor - it's a must-try! Every flavor is worth experiencing, and the quality is exceptional. Highly recommended!
google avatar

Steph P.

Yelp
Great ice cream, great service, great location slightly off the blvd. My faves are the Eureka lemon and marionberries, salted caramel chip, and honey and cornbread cookies. And when I'm not feeling like ice cream, I can always go for one of their sea salt chocolate chip cookies! One of the best!
google avatar

Gary C.

Yelp
Best ice cream anywhere. Rich, creamy, perfect balance of flavors. The classic mint chip (my fave) was off the charts. Highly recommend
google avatar

brian k.

Yelp
The only downside was the difficulty in finding legal parking. If you're determined and find parking, you wil be rewarded with excellent ice cream. Not too sweet. Not too creamy. I did a double peanut butter/cookie dough combo and it totally blended and hit the spot. They do custom IceCreamSandwiches which looked fantastic. Next time.
google avatar

Elisa G.

Yelp
Excellent service and reasonably priced!! Soriya is a doll. I tasted a few and decided on pumpkin caramel and candied pecan and yes all in one!! It's not low fat but it is gluten free!
google avatar

Jennie H.

Yelp
Their icecream is absolutely delicious and it is a great late night snack. There's never a line on the weekends and the service is very fast. Try their chocolate / strawberry icecream flavors they're the best. Best icecream in LA hands down. Cant get any better than this.
google avatar

Laurel R.

Yelp
This has no reflection on the icecream quality or the customer service. It is beyond me that this place has a young woman running the entire store alone at night! There was a long line and it was all because one young girl was running both the register and scooping icecream. I felt so bad for her because I know it's probably stressful and unsafe. Whether it's being understaffed or the management finds it ok to have one worker run and close a store alone.
google avatar

Jack G.

Yelp
Rate : 8.5 My review is about a famous ice cream parlor in one of #losangeles famous foodie spots. It was rich and flavorful with a well made waffle cone, let me explain the flavors. @mcconnellsicecreams Review: " Two scoops of flavor town " The first scoop on top was a Rich and creamy Pina colada made fresh and daily with all natural ingredients. The second scoop was battered cake made with scoops of cake mixed with rich vanilla ice cream made daily with all natural ingredients. This place was more then worth the wait I can't wait to go back to the foodie hub , a must go to #la #grandcentralmarket #mcconnells #icecream #richandcreamy

Jasmine M.

Yelp
Mmmm!!! I tried the Espresso Rumtini w/ macadamia nuts & Mapled Blueberry w/ Shortbread Crumble (limited flavors). Both were sooo delicious! I absolutely love this place when I am craving ice cream! It is comparable to Salt n' Straw and Jeni's (also love these places for ice cream). Definitely a must try if you haven't yet.
google avatar

Yelp
Literally the best ice cream in the San Fernando Valley. It is always packed with all ages, as if you love ice cream this is the place to go. The prices are very reasonable, and the flavors are plentiful.
google avatar

Karan B.

Yelp
Always amazing! Ample outdoor seating make this a great place to take the family! Consistently great!

Rom M.

Yelp
Most overpriced ice cream in Los Angeles. It's one thing to charge people $9 for their only option a "double scoop" of the scoops were actually a good size... it's a whole other ball game when the scoops are like tablespoons. I love great ice cream with wonderful flavors, and am willing to pay the price for a generous portion... but since when does a kids sized portion work for these prices?! Won't be going back here.
google avatar

Peter T.

Yelp
Seriously, delicious ice cream...the banana caramel is awesome... they even have peppermint chip all year I believe, which for me is very exciting !

Erika J.

Yelp
If I could eat here everyday I would, the ice cream is amazing and they have the best flavors. The Sees Candy collab is really good and you just try it. However, the line gets pretty long at nights in the summer.
google avatar

Edythe M.

Yelp
Scrumptious! We've been here a few times now and my kids love it. I love that they have a small size which allows two flavor options. It's artisan ice cream with broad flavor choices. The lemon was tart and coffee was bold. Definitely added to our rotation of parlor favorites
google avatar

Dianna T.

Yelp
the ice cream was really good unfortunately there was only one person working while there was a really long line outside. i felt the urge to ask them if they needed help even though it was my first time stepping inside of the establishment. i hope they get compensated what they deserve!!!!

George S.

Yelp
Ok it's decent ice cream Not as good as Marianne's Ice Cream but ok. Expensive though Real Santa Barbara price points!
