"Downtown Franklin welcomed McCreary’s Irish Pub to Main Street back in 2002, and it’s been serving Irish dishes and slinging imported beers ever since. Come for the daily two-for-one happy hour on draft beers, then stay for an order of Dublin-style fish and chips served with fried cod and wedge-style fries. Other popular Irish options include cottage pie, hot potatoes, and bangers and mash." - Kellie Walton

Yelp
Great service! Highly recommend the fish and chips and the patty melt. Great bar and really good food!!

Yelp
One of the best gems of the Nashville/Franklin area!! McCreary's is such a fun environment with friendly staff, great food, and amazing deals. I recommend going for lunch around 2:30-3 PM, and then staying for 2-4-1 drafts starting at 3! Absolutely get the fish and chips entree and the loaded tots for an app! Also check out special events they hold, like their Saint Patrick's Day celebration!

Yelp
If you are walking Main Street in Franklin and you are feeling a little Irish, stop in to McCreary's Pub. It's a small Pub, a few tables out side if the weather is nice, If they are busy grab a pint and stand outside. I grabbed a proper pint of Guinness to start with and some Corn Beef & Cabbage Egg rolls, very tasty with some spicy mustard. Then I had the Fish & Chips. The fish was very good, lightly battered. The fries are ok. I prefer a thinner fry.

Yelp
I love this restaurant, the food is delicious. The servers are sometimes great and sometimes ho-hum. The ambience is fun and can be hectic when it's crowded so we try to go when it's not super busy. The tables are very close together since the restaurant is narrow, it can be hard to hear and talk at times. I get the chicken pot pie almost every time I go, my boyfriend got the fish and chips and commented on how crispy and tasty the breading is. They definitely keep an eye on their fryers and make sure the oil is fresh and hot.

Yelp
The food was great. We're ordering takeout Rubin's this go round! The beer cheese is ta die for!

Alan M.

Yelp
First, the atmosphere is pretty spot-on in terms of capturing the ambiance of a public house. We've dined here numerous times when visiting Nashville/Franklin, and I'd say that service is usually reliable but seating is at a premium. The staff has always been friendly and thorough. The food is always reliably tasty and well prepared. It's pub fair so don't expect anything fancy, but you'll leave with a satisfied belly and palate. I'd say definitely give this place a try if you're in Franklin and there's a table available. I wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes to eat here though. There are other places with more seating and similar food without a long wait.

Yelp
Friday night we decided on the local pub for dinner- and quickly realized the band- Johnny Jameson and the Empty Pints was quite popular. Dinner was later than we planned but we loved the live music- lots of popular Irish drinking songs and the crowd was encouraged to sing along! We visit Nashville quite a bit and looking up Johnny Jamison's schedule will be part of our planning. Beer selection had lots of choices but we went with Guinness and cider! And the food- FANTASTIC! The loaded tots are a must for a starter. Then fish and chip, bangers & mash, cottage pie and a Ruben were all amazing- so good I forgot to get any pictures of the food.

Keith B.

Yelp
Service very good, food pretty giid. I had cottage pit, wife had Reuben. I personally would not have put cheese on my cottage pie, but that's just me.

Yelp
OMGOSH I really don't like to deviate much from just normal americana foods, so I was a little nervous when checking out the menu ahead of time. Happy hour goes until 6pm Monday to Saturday I believe, Beers two for one, wine $2 off, 1/2 price specific apps. My Pinot Grigio was great, the beer cheese chips app was great! The fries that came with my sandwich were incredible and I asked the waitress between the boneless wings or black bean burger and praise all things holy she said the black bean burger because honestly I think it has to be my favorite of all of them here in town. Ridiculously good. The flavor amazing (I wasn't sure about the "salsa" it said it had in the burger or the aioli) but I promise you should not ever pass this option up. The bread melts in your mouth and the cheese is so flipping good, tomato super fresh and delicious. Literally so filling! I was super hungry and only ate half. You bet I took the other half home! It was a Friday night and it was busy. Mine didn't come out with the rest of the tables food so we did wait on mine a bit longer plus a beer was forgotten until my sandwich was brought out. The slow weird service didn't even matter that much being that the food (and company) was excellent. This place is now on my radar and I'm so happy about that! Husband got Paddy melt, and would get it again! Our friends got the Reuben (liked it), and cottage pie (it was ok). Also they have tees, hats, drink koozies, and stickers for gear!! Ambiance: super busy, it was so hot out and it was cool but definitely sticky. We started at a table by the bar under the air con that was leaking so we ended up switching seats. Definitely recommend and definitely will be back!

Yelp
So...I truly loved it here. I loved that... we were seated right away, the live music was lovely, our server was Irish, the Guinness was poured properly, and my food was fabulous. I loved the salad that came out (cheese-less yay!), as well as the Dublin (chicken) pot pie. It had great flavor and I liked my slide of Irish Sodabread, too. Would love to come back!

Mike R.

Yelp
This was my first time to eat here. The food was hot and fresh. Very tasty. Service was very good. Ambiance was good. If you are walking around downtown Franklin, this is a affordable place to eat. They serve brunch and have a good variety of beers.

J.R. A.

Yelp
It's a small restaurant but a great atmosphere. Fish and chips were okay. Good happy hour deals.

Yelp
Amazing people here- they go above and beyond (we recently"popped" in with a group of 7 and they happily figured out a way to seat, and were beyond accommodating). Just a solid place with great food, good beer, and a neighborhood pub vibe

Yelp
Yo went for Lunch hands down the best food and beer must go .kid from Brooklyn and I approve this message

J'aime K.

Yelp
Pretty good food, nice service. I was surprised by how tasty the food was. The server said his parents started the restaurant. Everything was fresh and tasty. I really enjoyed it.

Mac M.

Yelp
Shepherd's Pie is ridiculously good. Good seevice, came fast, nice and hot. Loved it!

Audrey H.

Yelp
This place isn't the best for large groups, BUT the service and food made up for the slightly awkward seating. Highlights were Palmer the awesome waiter, the Main Street Club Burger, and the fries. Love that they had some vegetarian options as well!

Bob P.

Yelp
Went tonight for a beer and Fish & Chips. Fun atmosphere with live music and best fish & chips I've had in years. That includes my 10 days in Ireland. The Fish was crisp and not greasy. Hope they can replicate that because I will definitely be back.

Kim M.

Yelp
First time dining in, have had fish n chips takeout from here before and it was great! Service is bar walk up so no issues there. It's a fun comfy bar/pub atmosphere, nothing fancy.

Tim C.

Yelp
Great, traditional pub. Only Irish beers on tap, but an extensive list of other beers in bottles/cans. Mixed drinks are well done! Cottage Pie and Reuben are outstanding. Service was friendly - although not speedy - they may have been a bit overwhelmed for a Thursday night. Can't wait to try the Irish breakfast on the weekend.

Jeremy C.

Yelp
Consistently great food and drink, prompt service, cozy atmosphere. Great for lunch, dinner, or just a pint and a snack!

Rhonda D.

Yelp
We ordered for my mother- in law, and we live out of town, who is house bound. We spoke with them to make sure it that they had the order, they were super nice and said it would be the first one out for delivery. My mother- in law loved it all ! Thank you!!

Yelp
I had low expectations for this tiny pub in downtown Franklin but it ended up being a date night gem. Service was great (you could see the small waitstaff hustling but happy to answer questions. Food came out quickly too). Dinner was delicious and satisfying after a cold rainy day (just like Ireland!). We had cheese curds, burger, and cottage pie served with salad and soda bread. I wanted to stay for the live music but we could see other patrons anxiously waiting to have our table. Besides--we had lingered for about two hours enjoying the food, conversation (where you can talk or laugh loud if you want to), and drinks. Did I mention they even have happy hour specials on Saturday night? Good luck getting a table--they are consistently packed for a reason.

Yelp
We came on a Monday for lunch. The restaurant was close to full. For how busy they were the two guys working took great care of the dining room. Our server was really nice and efficient. Food came quickly and hot. I enjoyed the burger. Fish and chips were good too. They had a lot of interesting options on the menu.

J D.

Yelp
Food was just okay. Reuben was pretty light on meat. Fish was kinda greasy. Beer was cold. Service was good.

Dennis S.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch while roaming downtown Franklin. The place is small and pretty tightly packed, and rather loud. Perfect draft selection for cred as an Irish pub. Really enjoyed a mid-day black and tan. Surprisingly excellent chips, and well above average fish that was also nicely crunchy. Another in our little group had the Irish country veggie special, and it really looked fresh and nice. They commented that it was a bit over seasoned with black pepper, but that didn't keep them from finishing off the plate. So extra credit for an Irish pub that can deliver the goods to vegetarians. It may actually be a good thing that McCreary's is a bit small and that parking can be just a little trouble, else I'd probably be frequenting more than I should!

Rudy D.

Yelp
We did the corned beef egg rolls, salmon salad, and fish n chips. They were all delicious. The service was quite slow. But otherwise, the ambiance was nice.

John D.

Yelp
Visiting my newest grandson in Thompson Station TN and staying downtown Franklin TN. Dropped in over Labor Day for a pint and if you'd looking for quick service...not your establishment!! If your a local they will gush over you and blow part you..,,however not atypical for a dive bar in Franklin TN among great restaurants. Good Luck!!

Leslie F.

Yelp
The cottage pie, whiskey salmon and fish with chips were all delicious. We got a side of Irish Soda bread. It was slightly sweet and also delicious

Will B.

Yelp
It's a little tight in here for space but the food is legit and the service is good. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Davi Y.

Yelp
Feels like a local pub. I came here with my wife for a Saturday night. Food was good. Beer was good. Live music was good. I will be coming back here again.

David J.

Yelp
First time in, and we really enjoyed McCreary's! My son had the roast beef and provolone sandwich and I had the Reuben. Both were amazing! We'll be back with the family.

Sherry W.

Yelp
A hot spot in downtown Franklin, especially on Saturday night when they have a live band... You'll see regulars @ McCreary's because the locals like to hang out here... It can get very loud because the crowd is like a big family interacting with the band... You'll witness everyone laughing, singing, clapping, and clinging their glasses against each other in a cheerful way... The drink choices are good and the menu has an assortment of Irish style food... I recommend the Fish & chips, which is a favorite.

Joel M.

Yelp
This was an awesome experience. The people were great which was a plus. The Irish foods like bangers and mash and the fish and chips are a must. Top it off with an authentic Irish brew and you will instantly be thinking of when you can come back. We were there for Celtic music night on Friday and the group was wonderful. Thank you for a wonderful evening.

Jenny M.

Yelp
Fish and chips and the bangers and mash for dinner. Both delicious! The salmon dip with rye bread for an appetizer is awesome! Enjoyed the music and the people working there are so accommodating and fun! Enjoyed it all and we will be back!

Mark F.

Yelp
Super packed due to the Christmas parade that day. The staff took it in stride with a smile! Definitely be back!

Bill R.

Yelp
Wife and I drove into Franklin and ate there for lunch today. I had the fish and chips, she had the chicken sandwhich, with some cheese curds for an app. Food was excellent, service was great. Love the feel of this place. We will be back.

James S.

Yelp
I've been a regular at the Pub for too many years to count, and don't think I ever left a review. The love, care and attention to detail is evident to me in the good times and the bad times. The food, the Guinness, the Smiddicks (spelled Smithwicks), and the innovative cocktails are great. The people are greater. The family atmosphere, the Irish music most weekends, the trivia nights and the smiling faces and quick check-ins with the staff make for a great time every time. It is a place where old Franklin thrives during a time when the invasion of out-of-staters (ie CA & NY) threatens to bring the rudeness and entailed nature of those places to the town. Bring your kindness, your stories and your good nature and tip a few at the greatest Pub in Franklin. Maybe one day they'll put curry and chips on the menu! If you've been to Dublin, you know....

Sonja A.

Yelp
Made a pit stop here for a late lunch to check out the authenticity of Irish pub fare (and flair). It was most perfect to catch a game of college ball. A rather establishment popular with the locals and tourists alike, so don't be disappointed if there are no seats. Positive notes....the bangers and mash here are chicken and spinach (not the traditional pork), they serve Stiegel Radler (A+), the soup of the day was the total (Irish) bomb, and the staff very friendly and fun. My boyfriend had the mushroom and swiss burger and it was juicy and flavorful. The negative....really not a fan of soda bread and the mash was *very* dry (so not the typical mash I am used to anyway). Other than that, i am happy we ventured here and would recommend it for anyone looking for a tall guiness or a snack, served with a smile!

Lacey M.

Yelp
Service was great ...... food, not so great . Probably the worst Ruben I've ever had.

Barb S.

Yelp
Disappointed in service recently. We sat down w/ 7 people & were ignored for 10 min. Finally asked waitress Who was chatting and flirting at the bar - she gave us the one min sign, continued chatting and then finally came over and told us she wasn't our server & he'd be out. Another 10 minutes went by and the guy who looked kind of Squirrley came to our table. No personality, would disappear for 20 min. Other visits here in past were much better - or I would've given this visit less stars. Beer is great, food is good, service stunk.

Kayden L.

Yelp
Really good. We came from out of town and visited multiple times throughout our week stay. The bacon Gouda burger was so good! Highly recommend.

Jazmine B.

Yelp
Took my stepdad here for a late lunch. There was a wait to get a table, I hope they can expand one day. I appreciated the atmosphere. The service was excellent. All the waiters and waitresses greeted us. The food was fantastic. We got the loaded tater tots %100 recommend! A must try. Burgers made perfectly and tasty. The homemade cheesecake, phenomenal. Definitely will go back. I would recommend to friends and family.

Yelp
We were both so excited to see this place move to Columbia especially since they had fish & chips. Hubby's had it at 2-3 times other places and it was awful. We are use to fresh cod that is lightly battered. We came at lunch and we were seated right away. Loved the atmosphere and decor of the pub. Our waiter was prompt and friendly. I didn't get to fully look over the menu but did see two items that sounded good. However I miss this dish so much I ordered it as well as hubby. The order was promptly delivered and very hot. Loved the newspaper in which it was presented. Took a bite of the fish to taste just on its own but quickly realized it was all breading. Both of the fish looked identical in size and shape, if you know you know. So I took another bite this time with tartar sauce. It looked nothing like what I'm use to and definitely didn't taste like it. I asked the waiter if it was coleslaw or tartar sauce. You see it had shredded carrots in it and was sweet and just looked different. It said it had carrots, mayo, and sweet relish plus other things I don't remember and was made fresh daily. I'm use to dill and that twang that relish brings. I kept trying to eat the two together but I couldn't hang with the sauce. I started pulling the fish apart but found there wasn't much fish. The breading for me was just to much. Hubby said it was the best he's had here so I'm glad he likes it. I liked the steak size fries though. I will be back though. The menu said there was corned beef and cabbage and then there's a burger with bleu cheese. Hubby will have the cottage pie. I prices were reasonable too.

Susan P.

Yelp
Knowledgeable waitress who gave great food and drink suggestions. Enjoyed the Cottage Pie. Mom makes better soda bread. Also really loved the seasonal pimiento cheese, bacon burger on the pretzel bun. Chips were perfectly seasoned. Thought the cheese curd appetizer was so-so, but the sauce was yummy.

Amy S.

Yelp
First of all, they have Magner's cider on tap . The food is always great & the atmosphere is fun.

Gregg D.

Yelp
Great little pub on Main Street in Franklin, TN. My wife had the Dublin pot pie...she loved it! I had the fish and chips... it was also a winner...great place !!

J T.

Yelp
The best Irish Pub with great food in this area! Try the cheeseburger, fish & chips, and especially the loaded tots! Ignore other subpar reviews.

A C.

Yelp
When we first moved here and lived by the ocean the fish n chips were actually pretty good. Then took family here and noticed the shape and texture was of a frozen type. It was awful. The waiter who was family stated yeah it's frozen and we get out of a box. It was not good and can go to Culver's ironically for a better dish.

Kayla S.

Yelp
My server Debbie was honestly and truly the best!!!! The literal warmest personality and the sweetest human!! Came here on at Patrick's day and this place was absolutely packed and she was still so attentive and sweet and truly gave me the best experience!!! The food was great but the service from Debbie was beyond incredible!!
