Taco Bell opens new location in Lakeview to replace beloved Wrigleyville location | Eater Chicago

"The longtime McDonald's that once sat across from the stadium was razed during the neighborhood redevelopment, and a replacement McDonald's now operates inside the new hotel building that replaced the original site." - Ashok Selvam

Chicago-Area Restaurant Openings For Spring 2018 - Eater Chicago

"McDonald’s is back across the street from Wrigley Field. Cubs fans who miss the old location that was razed to make room for the Hotel Zachary can get over it. There’s a new Golden Arches inside the hotel. A swanky West Loop location will open next week inside the company’s new headquarters on the former Harpo Studio site." - Ashok Selvam

Very disappointed with my service. Ordered immediately upon getting off of work (around 3AM) and headed in to pick it up. When I approached the window to pick up my order (as I was informed the dining room was closed), I was yelled at and told I had a drive through order (even though the location does not have a drive through), and had the window literally slammed in my face. At this point I was so tired that I would have happily canceled my order and gone to bed, but the app did not allow me to cancel as my order was "in progress". As I was unable to get my money back, I decided to try and get some more information from the person handing out orders, but as there were 20-25 others crammed into the small room outside the lobby I found it difficult to get her attention. Soon a small group of us realized we all had the same issue. After CONFIRMING that we had ordered to the correct location, we tried once AGAIN to pick up our order, but after being yelled at once more and told that we couldn't pick up drive through orders, the woman handing out food slammed the window shut and refused to engage with us, except when handing out orders to doordash drivers. At one point someone thrusted her phone forward to show the order information, and the worker grabbed the phone and walked away with it, closing the window behind her. She did not get her phone back for nearly 10 minutes. For this entire time we could see 50 or more bagged orders sitting inside untouched. All this while, others who had ordered after us were coming in and picking up their food with little to no trouble. Eventually, at around 4AM (over an HOUR after I placed my order), the employees began taking the 50ish meals to the back, and we were informed that all of the pickup orders were gone. At this point they began asking what we ordered, and one by one remade meals. I eventually got mine and went home, only to discover that over HALF my order was missing, and that the burger was made with incorrect ingredients, rendering it inedible. What's more, all of my food was extremely cold and stale. While I wanted to treat myself to a full meal after my long shift, I found myself only able to eat a handful of cold fries. I am upset that I waited over an hour, that I was yelled at and ignored, and that much of my order was missing or made incorrectly when I recieved it. I would like a refund as I was not delivered the food I ordered and spent much of my early morning being ignored. I understand and empathize with the employees here - fault is clearly on whoever manages the app and allowed drive through orders to be placed to a location with no drive through. I am hopeful this can help McDonalds corporate learn to better manage their app so that mistakes like this do not happen again. UPDATE: I have left feedback three times now vian the link they provided below. They have completely ignored me. DO NOT VISIT THIS MCDONALDS! Go anywhere else.

I ordered my food online, and my sandwich only came with bread and no meat, and I ordered a large fries and they came with a tiny portion. Everything was very, very bad.

The employees especially the female manager I believe makes the store ambience feel uncomfortable and scary. She's very rude to the food delivery people and when I go in there as a customer then she's just a tiny bit nicer. The employees are all very slow and unorganized and when the manager or some other employees try to work fast they create more chaos. It might be time for her to get out of the kitchen and go back to continue her education. I don't think these employees I care about education. They don't know how to provide service with a genuine wholesome smile.

Lourdes Freeman, is she missing? I haven’t been able to get ahold of her in days. Talked to her Monday but haven’t heard from her since. Usually hear back from her within hours or a day tops. She works at this location, does anyone have any information about her?

I am in this place right now, I got up to ask for ketchup and the woman who attended me did not understand me, I had to tell her 3 times and she still gets angry and she gives me only two packets and I told her you can give me more please. And with bad faces, she barely gave them to me. I asked her if she had to pay for that, and she turned around and left, In this place they are usually very kind but I think this girl is new. She was so unfriendly and rude very disrespectful.

Google
Lourdes (The manager) was so unbelievably rude, we ordered in and she threw the tray on the table, knocked over the table marker and didn't even say anything. We then went up to ask for sauces because we initially forgot to ask for some for our order and she told us we had to pay and we said we didn't get any sauces with our order because we forgot, she then continued to say we still needed to pay so we left it at that. We went back to order two more sandwiches and she ignored us while we were at the counter and we made eye contact with her multiple times. So after multiple people picked up their orders we had to ask her to take our order. She was very rude, and when we said we are using a code for a free sandwich she said that she couldn't, SO I had to show her where it says that it says we can redeem one. THEN, we asked for sauce and she tried making us pay for sauce, we told her that it was for the current order and it shouldn't matter considering we already paid for it, she rolled her eyes and didn't say anything. Absolutely unbelievable.

Google
Definitely the cleanest McDonald's we've ever been in. The food was also the best we've ever had at any of the McDonald's both in the UK and the USA. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restrooms were also immaculate. Praise where it's due and it was definitely due there. Well done to all concerned.

Yelp
This place should be ashamed to even exist. I have lived in the neighborhood before they even opened and after a couple of visits, receiving shoddy service I rarely returned to this location. It happened to be one of my childrens birthday and he wanted some McDonald's fries. I decided I would walk over there instead of getting in my car and going to a different McDonald's to avoid the nonsense this McDonald's offers. That was a huge mistake on my part. They would not honor what was advertised first of all. I tried to order a Happy Meal and a "basket" of fries and the kiosk would not let me order it and also the App said "Hamburger Happy Meal not available at this location" when I tried to order it through the mobile app. I brought this to the counter to show them and Jessica a manager told me I could get a Hamburger Happy Meal and "Basket of Fries" but I wouldn't be able to receive the discount. I asked to speak to another manager as that is blatant false advertising and I know that when something is advertised in print it must be honored so Gabriel the other manager or who I perceived to be the General Manager that Jessica got was very abrasive and confrontational after I politely explained the situation that they must honor what was being advertised. He agreed after a few minutes of hassling and another 15 minutes I spent trying to figure out how to order it from the kiosk and my app which wouldn't allow me to because Happy Meals were not available at this location according to my app. I placed my order for the Happy Meal and "Basket" of fries and I decided to check it before I left because my daughter wanted a plain cheeseburger. After looking in the bag I saw a little more than half full basket of fries and thought this is not more than even a large fry yet costs twice as much. I went to the counter and asked Jessica for a large fry container just to see. I took the basket of fries and poured it into the large fry container and it fit perfectly. I went back up to the counter and asked Jessica if I could get some more fries as it only fit into a large container. She went and got Gabriel and instead of offering me a few more fries which would have been the fair and honorable thing to do he immediately came up and in a very confrontational manner just blurted out "I can just refund your money" instead offering a large fry to replace what was missing. I was very turned off at this point and I said ok but this is not good business practice as it was a waste of food, money and time. All he had to do was offer me an order of fries to make up the difference and I would have left happy. Instead I left and went to Chic Fil A less than a block away. They were very nice and I have been going there ever since the incident as corporate has not been any help and told me the owner of the establishment would reach out to me to make things right or at least offer an apology. It has been over 2 weeks now and I have yet to hear anything from anyone. Automated email replies not addressing my issues. I even called and corporate said the owner of this establishment would reach out to me and still have yet to hear anything more than 2 weeks later now. My advice to anyone is just go to Chic Fil A where they care about you and your order. I signed up for their rewards program and it is way better than the McDonald's app. I used to get at least a coffee everyday from McDonald's not this location but elsewhere but I refuse to patronize any McDonald's now as obviously it doesn't matter to them. At least my children will be taught a valuable lesson in that if you are abused and mistreated you have other choices so they not only have lost my business, my wife's business but they also have lost a future generations business as we will not be returning customers to any of their franchises unfortunately as I used to have coffee as I said everyday at another location but I have not been there since the incident and have directed my wife to do the same. DO NOT GO HERE!! Chic Fil A is less than a block away and it is way better food and service!!!

Yelp

Yelp
It had been about 10 years since I have eaten anything from the "Clown." I ordered delivery and the food came promptly via Door Dash from a great driver. The food was so-so. Both bagels on the sandwiches were not toasted at all, but basically microwaved. Whatever you do, avoid the "steak" breakfast sandwich. Lots of weird chewy pieces in the "steak," whether that was due to crap product or undercooked product I don't know for sure. I am leading towards crap product. I feel like an idiot eating this garbage after making it so long without. Here is to another ten years before eating this crap again or this actually was the last time I will ever eat this...

Yelp
Believe all the low scores...I never rate or review this type of food because honestly service, food, everything is supposed to be garbage and it's expected so you go in with low expectations but this place goes lower than that. No reason to say what happened just stay away from this spot...You will live a better life because of it.

Yelp
Again, lobby closed at 8:30pm. Another trip of having to lug food home . Change the lobby hours listed if your just going to close it whenever you feel like it.

Yelp
Simple Uber Eats order cost me $50+ when all was said and done. Two big sandwiches were missing even though the bag was sealed and the receipt with the order clearly written out was on the side of the bag. So for $50 I got two cold bacon, egg, and cheese bagels and 3 mediocre hashbrowns. The order was ineligible for a refund so I'm FUMING.

Yelp
Unsure if employees aren't trained, if they have zero common sense, or if they simply don't care, but I received my Hot Fudge Sundae, ice cream filled to the top, and the hot fidge topping on top of that. This is obviously going to lead to spillage and waste. The pictures illustrate this is exactly what happened. That which did not spill just stuck to the lid. Just pure stupidity.

Yelp
Bottom Line: A fancy and clean Golden Arches but different than expected. It's not often I Yelp a McDonald's but this one was interesting. I suspect it is either new or newly remodeled and upgraded. The interior is nicer and more stylish than most Golden Arches. You can order at the counter or use one of the flat screen monitors to place an order with a debit or credit card. Food is picked up at a separate counter which I've never seen before. The soda fountain is not self serve and they do not honor $1 sodas. Although it was a nice McDonald's, I was just there for my $1 self-serve soda which instead was a $2+ employee-dispensed soda. McDonald's use to define quality based on consistency - but they seem to be branching out and trying new concepts lately.

Yelp
Great stop for a snack after the Cubs game. Decent service, food was okay. Tables weren't clean, but we made do. Ordering wasn't super simple with the new touch screen menu boards, but again, we made do. Staff not very friendly, but they were efficient. Lots of loud Cubbies fans, but that's to be expected after a game. Okay McDonald's overall.

Yelp
Completely wrong. I was literally sitting in the drive through and was told to well. I didn't even say anything, all I asked for was my order, I have videos of itBig MacQuality MchcickenWi Fi Worked. And him hanging up on me. So.......

Yelp
Forgotten items. Wrong size bag for food. Mobile order so store wouldn't credit forgotten items. Another customer was complaining in store the fries weren't fresh. Bad experience.

Yelp
Not quite sure why his McDonald's has received such poor ratings, but we just visited it this past weekend and were quite surprised at how updated it is. It is located directly across from Wrigley Field so the crowds can be massive during game days which could cause a little headache, but their setup should give them so relief to that. There is one counter you order it and then another counter with TV monitors for you to track your order and then to pick it up when it's ready. They also have the order kiosks that you can put your order in without interacting with another human if that's what you prefer. I won't go into details about the food, because it is McDonalds. There is a 99% chance you've been to one and this one doesn't differ really when it comes to food. I ordered a couple sausage egg mcmuffins and they came out a little burned and this was on a non-game day so it wasn't crowded so you would think quality would be a LITTLE better, but then again, it's McDonald's.

Yelp
Updating my review from when this McD's first opened: They continue to milk people for every nickel and dime, I guess because they're paying that new Wrigley rent. I'm a huge McD's fan (see my profile), and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this place is just so extra that it's hard to support. The Good: 1. Their bacon is crispy. Somehow they care about this more than any other McD's location. It matters a lot imo, I wish every McD's would make crispy proper bacon like this. The Bad: 1. Everything is more expensive. No $1 drinks. Fries are $.5-1 more expensive. Burgers are $.5-1.5 more expensive. McFlurries are ++, etc. Every item is premium priced to pay the Rickett's family cut. I really miss our old Wrigleyville McD's that had a $1 menu. 2. No refills on drinks. C'mon guys... really? After the premium pricing the 10 cent refill is breaking the bank? 3. Hiding the napkins, ketchup, salt/pepper, sauces, etc. They treat you like you're in a McDonald's where petty theft is a huge issue. Wrigley is now an expensive neighborhood... hiding salt packets and napkins seems really petty and weird. 4. Denial of McDonald's mobile phone app deals - nearly every good deal that McDonald's advertises in their mobile app is rejected by this location because ... they are fancy? Overall I'm glad that we still have a McDonald's in the neighborhood but the owners clearly think that they can just gouge people because they live in Rickett's world now. I hope they eventually realize that they are in fact a McDonald's.

Yelp
Surprised to see such low rating for this McDonald's! It's bright, clean, and the food and service is quality and consistent. Whether it's delivery, take out, or (back in the day) dine-in, I've always had a pleasant experience here. The other day I was running errands in the neighborhood and caught a wave of hunger. So I pulled out my handy McDonald's app and checked what local deals they were running. Pro tip: if you don't have it already, download it. There are always daily deals and offers specifically for you. The thing about McDonald's for me is that I don't have a go-to order. I kinda love everything on the menu, so it's always an 'in the moment' decision for me. This particular day, I noticed a killer deal on the Big Mac so that's what I took. When I arrived, it was ready. I took it home and enjoyed! Not much more to say. But this is a great McDonald's and conveniently located. When Cubs games return (crying) this location is a great spot to get a quick bite.

Ian W.

Yelp
This McDonald's is very unusual. Cash only from 5-7 am. I have missed out on thousands of rewards points because of this. And it is inconvenient because who has cash anymore? They only hire Hispanics - don't understand this one...? The food is usually good / OK but everyone always has their head down. No smiles. No nada.

Yelp
This place is pretty good but I don't understand why they don't work with the Richard Simmons "Deal a Meal" program. If I get fries and a soft serve cone how many cards do I move over in my wallet. C'mon people.

Erik J.

Yelp
This is the worst McDonald's around. The high school kids don't pay attention to the orders and always on their phones while taking orders. It is McDonald's so not much more to say

Yelp
Best goddamn pizza joint in Chicago!! I loved our server Barry!! I highly recommend the roasted oysters for an appetizer.

Nektaria R.

Yelp
Very nice and modern looking and running McDonalds restaurant. Of course it across from Wrigley means crazy busy but they've got it down good. Courteous and friendly. Must go if you need a cup of coffee or some fast food.

Matt W.

Yelp
The new location is terrible. Double priced! The order windows are closed and you have to order at pick up window where these is no menus so you can't see the prices and they screw you this way! If you believe in robots and computer taking over, go here! Only people in the kitchen, everything else was self serve!!
google avatar

Mark B.

Yelp
Terrible service. Right across Wrigley Field and service is terrible and prices are high. I'd rather pay the ballpark prices food is tastier and service is quicker and employees are friendlier. If you choose not to order on one of their 6 kiosks they make you wait to order with a person. Just terrible.

Carsten X.

Yelp
DO NOT GO HERE The prices are obscenely high. Some items are more than 50% more expensive. Customer service is terrible as well. No wonder it's dead inside.
google avatar

Matthew L.

Yelp
You simply cannot talk to a human here anymore. You're required to order from a kiosk. If you have any small tweaks to your order, good luck, it's not going to happen. It takes 3 times as long to do this process.... and welcome to Wrigleyville, every item costs about 35% more.
google avatar

Ken B.

Yelp
I came here before a Wrigley concert while waiting for the gates open. It's not that big inside but it wasn't that busy. Employees were friendly. The Wi-Fi worked. Interior and bathrooms were newer and cleaner. I only bought a soda but it was worth it to chill out in an otherwise busy area.
google avatar

Jason S.

Yelp
this location is full of rude individuals. they don't care about their jobs and shoo away customers when come through the doors. high expectations for a mcdonald's in the middle of Wrigley. Disappointing.
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
Typically I wouldn't write a review for McDonald's but this location is the cleanest, modern, and classiest (as classy one could be) McDonald's I've ever been to! To the people leaving bad reviews because the prices are higher, you have to realize you're eating at McDonald's literally less than 50 feet away from Wrigley Field. That's like leaving the stadium a bad review because a beer is $6. In terms of parking, they DO have parking in the underground garage which is FREE for McDonald's customers for 30 minutes. Simply take a ticket from the McDonald's kiosk and have one of the team members validate it before returning to your car. That's about all I can write about a McDonald's.

Nick Q.

Yelp
This place. Staff was terrible and honestly rude, I'm shocked at their employment. We got fries and a happy meal not a hard order right.Well this McDonald's was also pretty empty. We got the happy meal we got the food first attempt. Three attempts later we had the wrong toy still and we also didn't get water which we ordered. So I'm definitely not pleased

Sam W.

Yelp
Great service great food. Great time. :)) quality mchcicken. Great job guys. Water was cold. People were pretty. Two stars plus 20

Monse S.

Yelp
Love the service, friendly staff! And super clean. Every time I go there, my food comes out fresh and everything is fast!

Murphy L.

Yelp
Horrible service, everyone there was very rude and seemed like they didn't want to work. I placed an order that they were supposed to deliver to my table but they were just angrily calling it out at pick up. I then filled out a surgery and they said they wouldn't honor the discount code unless I had a barcode to scan. Might possibly be the worst McDonald's I've ever went to. Terrible staff, coldish food, weird interior decor. Never again.
