Updating my review from when this McD's first opened:
They continue to milk people for every nickel and dime, I guess because they're paying that new Wrigley rent. I'm a huge McD's fan (see my profile), and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this place is just so extra that it's hard to support.
The Good:
1. Their bacon is crispy. Somehow they care about this more than any other McD's location. It matters a lot imo, I wish every McD's would make crispy proper bacon like this.
The Bad:
1. Everything is more expensive. No $1 drinks. Fries are $.5-1 more expensive. Burgers are $.5-1.5 more expensive. McFlurries are ++, etc. Every item is premium priced to pay the Rickett's family cut. I really miss our old Wrigleyville McD's that had a $1 menu.
2. No refills on drinks. C'mon guys... really? After the premium pricing the 10 cent refill is breaking the bank?
3. Hiding the napkins, ketchup, salt/pepper, sauces, etc. They treat you like you're in a McDonald's where petty theft is a huge issue. Wrigley is now an expensive neighborhood... hiding salt packets and napkins seems really petty and weird.
4. Denial of McDonald's mobile phone app deals - nearly every good deal that McDonald's advertises in their mobile app is rejected by this location because ... they are fancy?
Overall I'm glad that we still have a McDonald's in the neighborhood but the owners clearly think that they can just gouge people because they live in Rickett's world now. I hope they eventually realize that they are in fact a McDonald's.
