How the Slow Food Movement Drove Me to McDonald’s | Eater

"When the fast-food chain targeted Piazza di Spagna for what would become one of its largest outlets, the proposal provoked fierce local backlash: protests erupted and designer Valentino sued, arguing that the smell and cultural intrusion of a fried-food restaurant would defile the couture-filled area. Despite the opposition, the restaurant opened at the foot of the Spanish Steps and remains there today." - Suzanne Zuppello

This is a quirky McDonald's, it's the oldest McDonald's in Italy, opened 20 Mar 1986, worth a visit, this is near the Spanish Steps. The place is huge and at 8 am when I visited this place it was clean. Had scrambled egg with muffin and expresso as well as a croissant and fresh orange juice, enjoyed it as it was quiet and clean. The food was good. The only setback was that the self-service machine did not provide a receipt. Without a receipt, you can not go to the toilet.

From the moment we entered it was a fantastic experience. The Roman themed entrance to the building made you feel like you were in a museum and the world’s most ancient McDonalds. The statues, plaques and mosaic lined walls were a special touch. And this was even before we ordered the food. One could be forgiven for thinking that the chimney smoke from the nearby conclave was linked to the latest special menu item, the Big Smokey. It was a quiet evening which was surprising considering the conclave was in session, but the venue is fully prepared for busy periods with an abundance of screens to make your order. The bilingual staff made it very easy to hear our order number and we were soon sat down to eat. We weren’t disappointed! The Big Mac was up to scratch and the fries well seasoned. The Big Smokey McChicken was a delight and McChicken wrap a well rounded dish. The cheesy bacon fries were the only downside to the dinner. There was hardly any cheese on the fries (see attached image). However we quickly forgot about this, as the option to purchase a McDonalds branded football really elevated our experience. My friend took it home to Miami and will cherish it for time to come (see attached picture).

Italian's Mcdonald's in Roma with GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY (Senza glutine) option with a burger 100% Gluten free. I recommand this ristorante if you visit Roma. Reception, Services & Environment : -Very fast, a true fast food, you order in their tablets your menu and it's already prepared in 5-7min not like in other countries... -The downside is that it does not seem to have any table service, you can have it in other Mcdonald's -The inside of the ristorante was beautiful with the Roma Statue and it was clean Prices : -There's special menu with a happy meal and 2 Big Menu for less than 30€ -The price is very cheap compared to others countries -In average, you could pay like 10-15€ and it's okay. Dishes (No entrée, dishes, no desserts) -GLUTEN FREE burger (it's look like a cheese burger with no pickles, no sauce, no salad) -The special Menu with the happy meal and 2 Menu Maxi (1 Double Chicken BBQ, 6 McNuggets) -------------------------------------------- Just to see the inside of this ristorante and if you like Mcdonald's, you have to come here ! Plus bonus : if you're gluten free, they have an option for you with a gluten free burger. Too bad it’s not on the menu and it’s not that good...

Very efficient! Clean. You have your receipt into the bathrooms. They are difficult to scan but if you wait for somebody to leave the bathroom so you can just go in lots of options. Mostly friendly staff.

Google
This outlet is big and quirky design but still like it very much. Ordering via machines are standard now in all McD. It’s quite fast from ordering to getting your orders. 👍🏻 its spacious and cozy too 🤣 can spend hours sitting here enjoying a book and coffee as there aren’t that many patrons (at least when we were there) and you can recharge your gadgets too. 👍🏻

Google
Ordered soft serve ice cream cone. Unlike other McDonald’s they don’t make the cone and come out to call with the food in hand. Instead the guy called my number with nothing prepared so I thought it was a glitch. I kept waiting until someone in my group asked an employee, who then told the guy working the counter to make the cone. This is really weird to me because no other McDonald’s I’ve been to in Italy does it this way. They always make the ice cream and come out with it. Maybe here they want to make sure you are there before putting out the ice cream (quick melt)? Still, did not like the inconsistency. Had no idea this is an old McDonald’s. I did notice the fancy artwork decorating the hallway to stairs. Impressively spacious on second floor. And the baked items are cheap on the first floor. One euro croissants!

First and oldest McDonald's in Italy! Such an amazing experience! Ordered from a kiosk, got my order 5ish minutes later. Fries were made to order, burger was astounding, drink was fresh, service was phenomenal. HAVE TO GO HERE! Grazie ❤️🍟💪

Yelp
So yes I went to Macdonalds.... Twice really Once because I wanted to try the special chicken sandwich they had at the other place but this one I just wanted to see what was so special I've seen it so many times on videos and it's supposed to be fancy because it has actual Roman art like a statue and very old walls with art Yeah it's cool and clean and I got a pistachio McFlurry because I needed to use the bathroom lol which was tricky You scan your receipt but you gotta be patient and not force those doors in and out we got trapped and had to wait for the janitor to mess with the sliding doors The ice cream was okay it wasn't ohhh wow It's very large and you self order just like most European McDonalds They even have a front cafe at the entrance for just coffee and pastries And it's next to the Spanish steps practically

Yelp
When it doubt and starving why not!!! No flavor but maybe also no crap ingredients like the states!! Plus, you can order a beer!! (Birra) and macaroons!! Win win... while fighting with the crowd at the Trevi Fountain!!

Yelp
(Overall: B) - Great location positioning of this beloved classic, with free access to the bathroom, and a spacious two floor seating to relax in air conditioning before proceeding in a heavy walking day. I enjoyed that a pastry + espresso is only two euro, and tastes pretty good! The Italian McDonalds menu is not as impressive as the Asian ones for me, but much better than the American ones. Food: E Presentation: E Price: +1 Atmosphere: +1 Service: E Menu: E Overall: 4 stars Insta/Yelp/Beli/TikTok: @amei_eats

Yelp
My first McDonald in Italy and loved the food, definitely tasted better than America. Spicy nuggets were great and very affordable. Pretty clean and also had a working bathroom.

Yelp
This is the firs and oldest McDonald's in Rome/Italy. I had to stop by to see what all the fuss was. Well, the ambiance was very different than in the states. It is more upscale and designed completely different than the small location in the US. Very beautiful. The food choices were different. They had the typical burgers and fries, but also had chicken wings, gelato, and tons of sweets/pastries. Even a coffee bar section. It's been a while since I've had MDs in the states, but the taste seems slightly different with everything I tried. There is no real service as I am assuming with other locations. The place was nice and clean as well. There is quite a history to this place. It's a must visit if you're in the area.

Yelp
⁣⁣Hello to Rome's First McDonald's! This McDonald's was built 38 years ago. Like everything else in Rome; there's quite a history to this place as well. It was built in Italy amid protests via the Slow Food Movement group. A Italian journalist actually protested with bowls of penne pasta that they gave out to folks passing by and they had slogan, "We don't want fast food. We want slow food!" Here we are in 2024 and this McDonald's still stands. This definitely is not your typical McDonald's. Aside from a unique background; this spot is slightly an upgrade to to other McDonald's. There's marble walls, stairs and Italian statues. It is two stories and is said can hold 800 people inside! I am always intrigued by the different offerings McDonald has around the world and this one did not disappoint. They serve croissants and cappuccino. I tried their Pistachio Croissant and paired with Cappucino. Deliziosa! Price wise it was fairly cheap too and ran a croissant and cappuccino was under 4 euros. Location wise; this is near the Spanish Steps and Piazza di Spagna. The location is very convenient. This is a great McDonald's with a interesting history, different atmosphere inside and with affordable croissants!
google avatar

Yelp
The McDonald's here in Rome are off the charts awesome! How come they aren't this cool and awesome in the USA?! The menu items ROCK and there are Way more fun options like Macaroons, and SO many types of coffee options! Someone who has connections needs to let USA HQ know that if they want to improve business use the Rome model in the USA. #Justsayin.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
Always have to try McDonald's in other countries. I believe this was the first McDonald's in Rome. It's really big with a coffee/pastry bar on the bottom level. Regular food order/pick up is upstairs. Probably one of the busiest McDonald's I've ever seen. They have items that the US doesn't. The sandwich and espresso were really good but the loaded fries were disappointing. The bacon they used has that "fake" flavor. I'm not sure how else to describe it. If you know, you know.
google avatar

Karina U.

Yelp
Ordered a 0.5 L coke. Was handed something with condensation... the cup had been sitting out for so long and all the ice had melted inside. The drink tasted awful and was flat. 0/10 would not recommend.
google avatar

Kelsey N.

Yelp
As an American, I think it's fun to go to McDonald's in other counties and compare what they have! I've only been to a few countries but Rome has had one of the best McDonald's so far! They have great McFlurrys (that don't have a broken ice cream machine) and their food tasted a lot fresher than the ones back home. Plus this location had a ton of seating and was just a couple blocks from the Spanish steps and all kinds of shopping areas that are fun to walk around and window shop. Overall this was a fun break from Italian food while we were visiting!
google avatar

Yelp
This is a very nice McDonald's I visited a few months ago in Rome, Italy. I think it is better than most McDonald's in California. The dining room is so beautiful, and the inside layout is almost like a good Italian restaurant. I enjoyed my burger, French fries, and Coke in there. I'm sure it tasted better because of the beautiful dining room. They have self-service kiosks there, but most customers still like to place orders from the cashiers. The restrooms are for customers. You have to purchase before you can use the restrooms.
google avatar

Freddie B.

Yelp
They lost my order. I waited 45 mins when everyone is getting their food. This people working in the morning are not nice. they need to smile more and love their job, That's customer service. I would give Zero customer service here.

Jenna J.

Yelp
They lost my order and legitimately 60 people went in front of me. They said "we are busy" but all I got was one sandwich. Not fries no drink nothing else just one sandwich people that came 20 minutes after me were getting their full meals. I waited 40 minutes for one small burger. I should've just got pizza.
google avatar

Matt D.

Yelp
Best McDonald's I've been too. The snack wrap isn't as good as the USA grilled chicken with bbq but at least it's in the menu. All food items prepared with care, not like in the USA where everything is just thrown together.
google avatar

Matthew H.

Yelp
This McDonald's is huge. We came here to get a quick water to drink. The ordering system is touch screen and very easy to use. Prices were great here. I would recommend checking this out.
google avatar

Alper T.

Yelp
This McDonald's is a mad house. At a low season, the amount of people was insane. First of all, if you are with a stroller or wheelchair, you cannot even get into this place. There is no ramp, only steps to get in. It will take you so long to get in, now they have also kiosks to order your food, with the amount of people in there, you may not get your food less than 30 mins. It is extremely filthy, do not even bother to use their bathrooms, no ventilation, no air circulation in there, so think what you might face with. Food is below average, only eat , if there is nothing around. The only place here i must say looked decent was their coffee shop and pastry section at the entrance.

Irene P.

Yelp
So much better than American McDonald's. We all enjoyed our meals and appreciated the taste and quality
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Don't compare this to the states. It had some interesting selections that could be fun to try like... fried stuffed olives and macaroons! Gasp! Why don't we have macaroons in the US! The Big Mac was dry and had zero sauce and the food was barely warm.
google avatar

Benny H.

Yelp
Decided to give McDonald's in Europe a second shot, as some people I know have raved about it. This one was much better than the one I tried in Paris for sure. First, it's probably the largest McDonald's I've ever been to. This sucker is huge! Multiple floors, multiple sections, and over a hundred customers. It's massive. Just like the one in Paris you can order from a machine and you pick it up at the counter. The age of man is over, the age of the machine has begun. The food is pretty much the same. The Big Mac tastes like the Big Mac. The chicken nuggets taste like chicken nuggets. They do have curly fries and chicken wings though! Overall, a pretty decent experience. Oh, and they serve beer. Italian beer at that!
google avatar

Pat K.

Yelp
Usually I never step foot in a McDonalds in the USA because I don't care for the fast food items. But not so in Rome! This McDonalds has way different items than the US restaurants. First when you enter, they have only a coffee and pastry / snacks counter where you can get very good Italian coffee, cafe latte, and espresso which are all strong on my American palate. To the shock of the McDonalds person I ordered from, I asked for half Italian coffee with half hot water and it made it taste more like what I am used to. They have an excellent burger menu which I tried a chicken sandwich and enjoyed it. Did not expect McDonalds to have such awesome chicken sandwiches! Bathrooms were clean and tidy but difficult to find as they and other European countries do not place enough signage to direct people... The best part is that they carry similar pastry goods like a Starbucks but also the infamous macaroons. The macaroons from McDonalds were the best I have ever had! They had 4 flavors of macaroons but the quality was higher than any other place I had tried. Plus the price hard to pass at .85 Euro apiece! I would wish the American McDonalds would take a cue from their European counterparts to offering items that appeal to most others...
google avatar

Gretchen T.

Yelp
Came here mainly for the free, clean bathrooms and ended up eating here for lunch. Got a cheeseburger and nuggets. We also got some bacon cheese fries to share. Everything was good, tasted the same as the U.S.
google avatar

Kimberly J.

Yelp
We were site seeing around the area and in need of a restroom. Dropped by this McD's and to our surprise we found out that they have a nice McCafe area, filled with delicious baked goods, drinks, and gelato. The restrooms at this location weren't the cleanest and most of the doors barely locked but it got the job done. It's quite difficult to find a restroom around Rome, unless you're dinning in at a restaurant. There is plenty of seating at this location and though their restrooms weren't the cleanest, the seating area is quite clean and modern. Employees are friendly. Menu items are the same as the U.S. for the most part, with a couple of different items added to it. Their McCafe is quite awesome and decently priced.
google avatar

Chun P.

Yelp
Don't judge! ;-) This is nothing like a McDonalds in America. Its beautiful inside. And after spending 3-4 euro for a coffee and pastry at various independent Roman breakfast "bars", it was a relief being able to get an expresso and pastry for 1.80 euro, and it was just as good! Or splurge for 2.20 euro combo with a pastry and cappuccino. And they don't charge you an extra 30-40% to sit down, as all the independents do.
google avatar

Wai L.

Yelp
We went to this McDonald's restaurant while in Rome. This location was much better than any other McDonald's restaurants in Canada. It was huge, clean and beautiful. The service was great and friendly. I wish all McDonald's restaurants were like this location.
google avatar

Jordan K.

Yelp
Probably one of the largest McDonald's I have seen. First floor has a McCafe and gelato area. The second floor is the main area with plenty of the self order touch screens. Easy to order and pick up your food at the counter. It was clean with plenty of seating.
google avatar

Jess N.

Yelp
This is not your typical American McDonald's in Rome. This is a very nice and ornate restaurant (minus the very dirty bathrooms!!). I would suggest that you stay out of the restroom here and just grab food. Don't forget to try the McToast! and anything in the McCafe case too! They have gelato in many flavors. There's lots of delicious espresso drinks to choose from also. This is good stop for you to build up a sugar and caffeine buzz for sight seeing. I had a chicken wrap sandwich that was really tasty. I went with breaded chicken and that crunch was really good. The tiramisu was pretty amazing for fast food. The restrooms get 0 stars and the food/drinks get 4 stars.
google avatar

Jamie S.

Yelp
We stopped in for a quick espresso - very inexpensive (maybe 1 euro), very good and the restaurant was very clean. It had 2 levels and the lower level had a fun soccer video game that my son really enjoyed. It was much nicer than the locations in the US. The McCafe had delicious looking pastries, etc.. We did not have any, but they looked delicious.
google avatar

Eileen S.

Yelp
Dear tourist, You're in Italy... WHY WOULD YOU GO TO MCDONALD'S?! Surprisingly, McDonald's in Italy charge a lot more for their meals than the ones in America. However, they offer way better food options, and their McCafe serves delicious coffee drinks and desserts. This McDonalds' atmosphere is really nice, but it's always packed and seating is hard to find. Even if you're a tourist, it's a great place to try.
google avatar

Murray W.

Yelp
Am I the only one who thinks that when you're traveling overseas, you have to stop at McDonald's at least once to see what its offerings are like? I know at least my wife is onside with me on this. We were on our way to the Spanish Steps when felt peckish and wanted a cheap, cold drink. We had been seeing a lot more signs directing people to McDonald's locations than actual McDonald's at this point as well, so it was interesting to actually find one. The menu was of course very similar to the American/Canadian one, with a few additions like fish and chips, McLobster, Italian-ish salads, brioche turnovers and what we bought: spinach and parm croquettes. Three came in each order, and they were surprisingly tasty, given the price an location, as the filling was creamy and flavourful. This location was much bigger than you would expect from the street entrance which lead to this basement location, which just seemed to expand and expand. Cool air conditioning, free wifi and cheap mediocre eats, it's what you expect and what you get.
google avatar

Ana B.

Yelp
I know it is kind of tacky to go to McDonalds while you are vacationing in Rome. You come there and you hear English spoken by a bunch of customers. You start to think that you should be venturing out and exploring the local cuisine unlike those people. But McDonalds in Rome has very good McCafe which i like and which is by far superior to McCafe in the US. It is also cheap compared to the local businesses and the quality of McCafe drinks and pastries is very good. So why pay 3 euros for a cup of coffee if you can get it for 1 euro at McCafe?! Pastries were very good, and the hot chocolate was great. On weekends and holidays this McDonalds gets insanely crowded. I would not even bother to go there during lunchtime because you probably would not even be able to find a place to sit.

Mitchell D.

Yelp
I am so McHappy I McCame here. I'd McDo it again. I'd do it on McSunday, McMonday, McTuesday, McWednesday, McThursday, McFriday, and McSaturday. McThank you for reading my McReview. Really enjoyed my Crispy McBacon with McFries and McKetchup and McCoke. I've died and gone to McParadise.

Try their McCafé stuff it's great and cheap Specially their pastries and coffee deserts

Yelp
Mcdonald's stores millions of people a day over 100 countries, and Italy is no different. This Mcdonald's store in Italy, looks like a nice one but it is when you step inside, you just want to hide. When you enter, it starts into a Mccafe, mainly dedicated to the Mcdonalds Cafe drink/coffee range and some pastries, and you have to go down a few stairs to get to the main restaurant, hence is poorly wheelchair accessible, they is a way for wheelchair access but this involves : travelling down many back streets, using the freezer entrance and feeling like a hassle, and like they are taking part in something fishy, rather than a guest of a massive chain. When I finally got in the store, I tried to use the machine to order my food fast, to avoid big queues, however it was slightly difficult, (yet possible) to change the language to english, and then find dietary requirements notes, It said they had them but it just didn't work, and I had to go to the till The server was very slow, and it must have taken half an hour queuing to get service, which really isn't fast food, the guy who served me seemed nice enough but still was puzzled I wanted a burger with no bun. I would of wanted something else but after getting my friend to queue in another line for the machine checkout, what took about 2 minutes, they couldn't provide anything either, despite it being EU law and mentioning about it on machines. The food here, like the store was very poor, my burger meal must of been about 7.3 euros and it was awful, the presentation was poor, and it was just slopped on a plate, it was either put in a horrible, white sauce I guess was mayo or just simply dry, so it wasn't nice throughout, and all the toppings came off like a sandwich. My fries was not much better ; they were over seasoned. The staff made sure I got in okay, but when I wanted to leave, no one tried to help me out, as I had to go through the staff freezer exit on my own, after trying to get through other "emergency exits" To conclude, this store may look nice and like a posh Mcdonald's but at the end of the day, it is the same old menu, perhaps even worse than the UK as they don't sell cheeseburgers, the waiting time is dreadful and can leave you feel drained, just as you wait for a simple burger which should take minutes, the food is very poor and inedible in parts, it is a little pricy and noisy too. It really isn't a nice place and is definitely one of the more deserving places for my "Avoid at all costs" list
google avatar

Drew B.

Yelp
Oh god if you are needing a free bathroom break so bad and don't want to stink up the LV shop restroom, then go here. Tucked away at the 2nd floor. Take the men's section if you must. And oh, do patronize the place with some deliciously recognizable Big Mac and fries.
google avatar

Asma S.

Yelp
I wasn't expecting this but it was the best crema cafe I had in all of Italy! I love hazelnut flavored anything and the nocciola crema cafe is seriously amazing!! It's like semi melted coffee soft serve. We also got the hot cheese fries and they were decent, needed more cheese sauce though. I don't even go to McDonald's in the states, but I like seeing the unique menus abroad. Plus the upstairs is huge with plenty of seating.
google avatar

Denny B.

Yelp
This is the first Mc Donald's in Rome. They have a beautiful interior decorated in the Caesar period looking like catacombs. They have a full coffee bar and pastry shop. They have the normal shitty McD's menu right along with Happy Meals. Lots of locals come here and sit for hours just drinking coffee and visitng with each other. Very Rome.
google avatar

Audrey Q.

Yelp
I'm an Asian-American and it never occurred to me that I am one until I came to Italy. At this McDonald's, I just wanted coffee. I was served with attitude and stares.

Yelp
The undisputed crown jewel of the Roman restaurant scene. In a bold stroke of entrepreneurial genius, McDonalds casts aside the bland Roman conventions of pizza and pasta in favor of tantalizing meat circles brushed with digestive lubricants and topped with assorted vegetables. These carefully matched components are complimented by their casing: two edible mini-waffles. Some mini-waffles come with seeds, allowing diners in search of a sustainable lifestyle to grow their own at home. If the foregoing weren't enough to tickle every corner of the tongue, each meal includes a pile of thinly sliced potatoes bathed in a hot salted brine, delivering a Trevi Fountain full of taste. Due to troubling economic circumstances, the Romans have been unable to renovate or replace many of their buildings, streets, and art for centuries. This downtown gem is one notable exception. The multi-floored facility adorned with gleaning white floors and tastefully done blocks of red provides a perfect backdrop for a multi-cheeseburger dining event. This has become the McDonalds trademark experience: simultaneously feeding the body, the heart, the soul, and the mind. McDonalds has quietly revolutionized the Roman dining experience. Owners of the local pizza and pasta houses privately fear that their unimaginative menus will be conquered by the subtle sophistication of McDonalds' well-balanced meals. A nourishing masterpiece, and the finest Roman achievement in centuries. Five stars.

Yelp
You should probably be trying other foods besides McDonalds but I have to say you have to go and at least check out this place! This is one of the fanciest McDonalds in the world. Our group actually went to the Spanish Steps pretty late and were just looking for a bathroom when we stumbled upon this McDonalds. I was super excited to see it when I realized which one it was because it was one of the top rated, if not the top rated, on Travel Channel's show about McDonalds. The A/C is running full blast so it's a good break from the heat outside. The food is also more expensive than what you're probably expecting a McDonalds would cost. However, they have a large selection of pastries in the Cafe that you just can't look away from. Come to this McDonalds to experience the atmosphere (probably not so much for the food).

Declan H.

Yelp
Safe to say this McDonald's made the ones we have in the United States look like garbage.
google avatar

Nathan D.

Yelp
It was fun to visit the iconic American fast food chain nestled in a beautiful Piazza in Italy. That being said, the entrance signs on the street are somewhat confusing and there are no "Golden Arches" on the face of the building. We honestly walked by it twice since it was just a grey and black façade. Other than trying to find it and failing, the experience was pretty standard. The kiosks to order are nice and the space it large and clean. The food is exactly what you would expect, just you can get beer as a beverage. We were really hoping for wine, but whatever. Some of the sandwiches are different from the US market, but nothing that really stood out as special. Tried the Big Mac in Italy and it was good, just like ordering one in California. The lay out of the restaurant is somewhat confusing as from the exterior the signs made it seem like there was an entrance/exit from the upper and lower parts, but we never could find the upper part. As a fun touristy stop, it works.
google avatar

Annie H.

Yelp
Great interior, very much in line with the rest of the McDonald I've seen in Europe. The McCafe is fantastic for a warm coffee stop at a little over one euro for a cappuccino and the seating area is massive!
google avatar

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
Tacky... but McCafe in Rome is not equal to that in the States. Travel buddy loved the deal which is cappuccino + cake (tiramisu?) for 1.5euro! OK so it was a deal and it was definitely A-OK from the taste I recall. I'd be back for the dessert but not the other savory food... I mean, you're in Italy and you're at McDonald's?? :)
google avatar

Vyshali S.

Yelp
Horrible service. Attitude is the worst I have seen. I have traveled many places and we usually look for McDonald to have a comfortable meal bit this one has left a sour taste as far as service is concerned

Bill J.

Yelp
The McDonald's near the Spanish Steps is massive and supposedly the largest one in Europe. It has free wi-fi and pumps the AC at full blast in the summer. It's a good place to pause and regroup while hoofing around the city. Yes, I know you're not supposed to eat McDonald's anywhere but suburbia USA, but this one is worth visiting because of it's sheer size and comfort.
google avatar

Nikki B.

Yelp
McDonalds in Italy! We stumbled upon this because we need to use the restroom. This is by far the biggest and nicest McDonald's I've been to in the world! Very modern looking! It's right by the Spanish steps in piazza di spagna. It looks small from the outside but it's pretty big. It has 2 levels. Their cafe offers a lot of coffee and dessert selections unlike the McDonald's in America. It's more like a Starbucks actually. I ordered the cafe tiramisu, which was good but pretty strong. I guess this is just how Italians like their coffee.

Pam J.

Yelp
A beautiful McDonald's with the RUDEST service ever! Unfriendly with absolutely no regard to customers. Did not see one employee smile or be pleasant with any of the customers!

Hanna K.

Yelp
I visited this McDonald's with my daughter when we visited Rome. We had 2 shakes, and the price for a shake was 1 EURO. I wanted to leave a review here because I want to express gratitude for what the employees at this particular McDonald's did for me. My daughter left her phone in a blue case here after eating. We didn't notice we were missing her phone until about 1 and a half hours later. We looked also in other places but we came here to check last. The MD's employees had her phone, and returned it to her. We are very pleased that someone was honest and returned it to us and that the McDonalds employees returned it to us. So I would definitely recommend this McDonald's at this location near the Spanish Steps. Thank you again MD employees for returning her phone, it really meant a lot for us. :)

Yelp
THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER . They had 1 bathroom open for both women and men . And when I asked if there was any way they could open another . The maintenance man said no. This is a tourist place ! How the hell do you only have 1 bathroom ! And service was just straight rude . Don't come here and expect any good service
