U.S. Embassy Partners With McDonald’s Locations in Austria | Eater

"Nearly 200 outlets across Austria have been designated as informal contact points for U.S. consular services: Americans can approach staff at these locations and be put in touch with the U.S. Embassy for assistance if they lose a passport or need help after legal trouble. The unconventional public–private arrangement—effectively outsourcing a public service to a multinational fast-food company—has drawn questions, but it’s reportedly practical for travelers (for example, someone in Vienna who suddenly needs consular support). Staff are said to provide embassy contact without forcing a purchase, though customers must buy something to use the restrooms." - Tim Forster

This was a truly disappointing experience. Instead of Sprite, my cousin and I were given plain soda water. Furthermore, most of the self-ordering kiosks were out of receipt paper. And to top it off, the fries were unpleasantly hard.

Hygienic problems are very clear and even dangerous for your health here. I was watching how somebody was using his naked hands for touching every detail of my burger while preparing it, and after that, he took bunches of fried potatos also with naked hand.. when I asked whether they use gloves or not, some girl answered - "we wash hands every once in an hour" - in a pretty dissatisfied tone. It doesn't help. One may touch something dirty in that one hour or have some skin or transmitting disease or just scratch his/her skin. Anyways, usung naked hands is terribly wrong and unacceptable whatsoever! Besides, tables are dirty.. and service people use some worn-out tissue towels for cleaning tables.. without spraying them and without fresh, disposable paper towels.

No Ice in summer time. Scrambled eggs overcooked with added hair, no ice coffee while ice machine is not working for whatever reason, hair found on serving plate which was not from us. Forgotten sugar salt and pepper. I think i will avoid this franchise for some time. Next check in 2 months. Very pity while they have fully potential from parking place till the Building location.

Absolutely the worst McDonald's I've visited in years. Hygiene was nonexistent.

Excellent branch I like the McCafe bar and hope all branches do the same

Unfortunately this branch is usually dirty. All the furniture is greasy. There is usually food residue on the chairs and tables. The last place I would think of if starving.

The place is constantly dirty. Incredibly dirty—the restrooms, the furniture, the tables. The furniture is made of faux leather, and almost all of it is torn. On top of that, it’s covered in food residue, grease, and other people's grime. The furniture, which was originally white or cream-colored, is now black from the dirt. It’s a disgusting place, a low-quality McDonald’s, the most unkempt one I’ve ever been to in my life.

"You have to wait for the apple pie, sorry." "How long?" "3-4 minutes." "No problem." After 10 minutes: no apple pie. Going to the counter, nobody wants to see or hear me. 5 minutes later I got the apple pie. How do you think it tasted after all these?
