McGaugh's Donuts

I was pleasantly surprised. I expected an average donut experience but this place has FRESH traditional donuts, breakfast sandwiches and more. It’s nice to sit inside for a few minutes too and you can watch them roll out the dough. I waited a few minutes for a fresh butterfly roll and it was better than I thought it would be. The fact that it was warm and straight out of the oven made it that much more amazing. Definitely recommend their donuts and service.

It has a walk in or drive through, which ever you prefer. No matter which way you choose the service is fast and will be greeted with great customer service from start to finish. The doughnuts are absolutely delicious. If you like doughnuts and a service like no other, then stop by this place. You will not be disappointed. Mmmmmm

Bringing these donuts to any gathering seems to make you an instant hero—or if they are trying to watch their calories—the devil. Plenty of variety and always fresh. Great value too in the heyday of gourmet donut shops, can’t beat it.

This place is AMAZING. Cute little shop and has super friendly staff! They’ve been rated number one doughnuts in the state of Tennessee by Yelp and by USA Today, and for good reason. Their doughnuts were so fluffy and light! They were a nice smaller size too so you could try multiple flavors. Best doughnuts we’ve ever had!

They have good donuts, however they don't honor their own hours. Allegedly open until 2:00 p.m., however I've come by two different days this week, once at 12:30, the other at 1:30 p.m., the sign says that they're open, but the doors are locked, and nobody will acknowledge you at the drive-thru. I'll start going somewhere else instead of wasting my time driving out of my way to come here.

Sorry y’all! Ive been on a little bit of a hiatus. But. We are back at it again. So i found the place. The strawberry icing was great. Olivia had to try the fruity pebble. They were cold. But, they open at 4 and it was 8 when we got there. The lady greeted us immediately.’ And just like Fox’s there were sone older gentleman sitting in corner. I did give iy 5 stars cause my only issue was they were cold. Definitely go and trytlllllll

I had the opportunity to taste a McGaugh donut today and oh, My Goodness!!! McGaugh Donuts are sooooooo delicious!!! I had the blueberry cake donut....however I am certain they are all delicious....every bite....every crumb!!! Thank you family for introducing me to my new best loved donut!!! 1111 Gallatin Pike, South, Madison, TN....you will be glad you tried it!!! My family brought it to me however I believe service is great also!!!

The staff were very nice and the donuts were light and tasty! There were a ton of flavors for filled donuts and a big variety of cake flavored donuts! Would love for there to be apple pie filling in the bear claws! Would absolutely visit again!

Quick weekend trip with the family and found this place on the northeast part of town (+/- 10 minutes from the Opry Mills area). Ended up with several boxes to bring home for the kids! McGaugh's had a steady stream of customers while we made our selections. Mostly locals...always a good indicator. The Maple glazed is always my fave. Looks like a home-owned business...much better experience than the chain places.

About a year ago, I decided to put Middle Tennessee's numerous donut shops to the test in an exhaustive quest to find the best in town! It took 14 months and 22 bakeries before I finally walked into McGaugh's Donuts over the weekend just off Briley Parkway in Madison. I probably should have come here first! In a nondescript humble building, the kind of unassuming place in which greatness is often found, my mind was sufficiently blown with the first taste! One bite in the car ride home and I knew I'd found Nashville's greatest donut! I prefer yeast donuts over cake donuts, and while Nashville has some very good examples of the former, there is something so complex and deeply yeasty with McGaugh's little masterpieces that sets them apart. Each donut is so impossibly soft and richly flavorful, more than any other donut in town, and consider that these donuts were the last few left on a Saturday afternoon before closing time! Imagine that feat of culinary impossibility! How good do they taste when they're freshly made in the morning?! The lemon filled version is a spectacular combination of rich lemon curd and soft, sugary donut. The maple iced is a beautifully soft donut with a wonderful maple frosting that is neither overpowering nor underwhelming. The vanilla icing with Fruity Pebbles was easily my second favorite. But the long cinnamon twist spanning the length of the entire box of half dozen donuts was the ultimate prize of the pack! I had gone in with the anticipation that this would be the prime pick at McGaugh's, and I was right. Just as soft as its smaller yeast companions with a delicate glaze and the essence of cinnamon, this is surely one of the best baked goods in Nashville! In a world in which great donuts are often indistinguishable from each other, McGaugh's has somehow found a way to distinguish themselves as the greatest in the city. Well done!

Best donuts in Nashville! We go on an annual trip to Nashville and always leave with a dozen. Only wish they had a coffee bar to compliment to donuts!

I'm all about customer service. Placed an order through a delivery service, two of the donuts that I ordered were missing. Tried reaching out to the delivery service for help, but as predicted it's impossible to reach a human person. Called the restaurant trying to get a credit for the two items that I paid for and didn't receive and they refused to help. The fact that the restaurant refused todo the right thing and offer to replace the items that I paid for but did not receive is pretty silly tome. First and last time giving this place my business.

A donut shop doesn't need all the modern aesthetics that a lot of new coffee shops do but this place has all the varieties that you want AND they also carry the Texas staple of kolaches here. Their blueberry cake donuts are superb and also is their classic glazed donuts. There is always a line when I stop in which means business is great and the service is bustling behind the counter during peak hours. If you're in the Madison area, it's worth a stop through for a good ol' American donut shop.

Perfect neighborhood donut shop. You won't find anything fancy, but you'll find friendly people, good prices, and real good donuts. What more could you want?

I made it to McGaugh on a weekday around 11. They had plenty on traditional donuts available and the glazed donuts I received where hot and fresh. The preparation area where the donuts are made is open to view with a plexiglass wall for separation, which I thought was cool. There were only a couple of people sitting on the inside and I remember it not smelling so fresh in there. I sat down and had a warm glazed donut before I ventured off for the rest of the day. The donut was light and sweet. The flavor was good, but not better than the donut shops I have ranked 5 stars. I ate the rest of my donuts over the next 24 hours and they held up nicely. McGaugh's strong point is the availability of many assorted donuts so late in the day.

Had a chance to visit, this past Saturday. We ordered some Don holes, one maple bar, and a maple field bar. They were all good, however, I was really excited to go because there was an article. They talked about the best donut shops in each state, and this donut shop was listed as the number one donut shop in Tennessee. I do not think that's the case. But the donuts are very good.

Donuts here are AMAZING! We were heading back home from our vacation and decided to stop here for a half-dozen. We got 2 lemon filled, a blueberry filled, a Boston cream, aFruity Pebble, and a regular glazed. All of them were incredibly fresh tasting and a 10/10. Highly recommended!

Some of the best donuts I've ever had! They are always fresh, every single one I've tried is absolutely delicious, and it's my go to spot for donuts in all of Nashville.

This donut shop is a classic gem--fresh, delicious, and affordable donuts. The staff is incredibly attentive. There's a great selection, but my personal favorite has to be the cinnamon twist. All around great spot. The drive thru line can get a little long, but it's worth the wait.

If you want some cheap classic donuts this is the place to go! We got 4 regular donuts and one specialty donut for $7! We ate the others before I could get the pictures because they smelled so good! We got an Apple fitter, which was filled with crunch apple pieces and the dough was fresh and sweet! 10/10. I love cake donuts and loved the chocolate glaze, it was the perfect amount density and sweetness! I also had the maple donut a day after buying them, and it was still moist and perfect! We will be back to get more yummy donuts! They also have a drive through! Plus we saw someone making more when we went! It's a great donut shop!

This little shop is so inconspicuous that you'll miss it when you drive by. BUT, don't miss it, because everything is tasty! They open at 4:30am which is wonderful because most places aren't open that early. We were heading to work and wanted to bring in some treats for breakfast. We bought 5 dozen donuts and kolaches and everything tasted great! Nice people, too. I also loved that the dough to hot dog ratio was spot on for the kolache. It's so annoying when you bite in and all you taste is dough. Not here.

Went to a wedding in shelbyville they had the donuts along with cake unbelievable amazing was leaving town the next day stop purchase 6 more for the road jealous wish we had them in California our GREAT LOSS

The only donuts worth driving 30 minutes for...at 4:30am in order to surprise my wife for her birthday (because she told me this is all she wants for her birthday). Thus, the perfect wake up surprise. The best donuts in town. End of story.

McGaugh's Donuts are the best donut around Nashville. They are consistently good and always fresh.

This place is 5-star certified! We got here pretty early and had the pick of the litter. All of the donuts were super fresh, light and pillowy. We got a dozen and then some; a few cake donuts, maple glaze, Oreo, bacon covered, eclairs and two large donuts that count as two donuts, in regards to a dozen. The apple fritters and the butterfly donuts are huge! The apple fritter was the size of small football and loaded with a chunky cinnamon apple filling. The butterfly donut was insanely soft and ate like monkey bread. You pull it apart and enjoy. The Oreo and bacon donuts were fantastic as well and the maple glazed cake donut was surprisingly light and airy. I've gone back and snacked on a few donut throughout the day and they still taste fresh and are soft to the touch. Just a heads up, they do have a drive-thru if you don't feel comfortable going inside just yet.

The donuts were fresh and tasty. I also tried the kolache plain and jalapeño. The jalapeño was my favorite.The young lady who took care of me was nice and she shared her favorites with me. My kids loved the caramel, sugar and strawberry doughnuts. Prices were reasonable.

Great doughnuts, friendly staff, the drive thru is a great touch. It is a pain to turn out of the parking lot onto Gallatin, but not the reason for the star dock. You aren't able to tip on your card it's cash only for tips and the folks working here are busting their busts earning em.

I'm often asked what my favorite donut shop is. But when I'm ask that while at a donut shop I always respond that it's obviously the one that I'm at. However, I can honestly say that McGaugh's Do-Nuts is one of the top traditional donut shops in the Nashville area. This is my second time there and I've thoroughly enjoyed their donut selections. My favorites, so far, are their glazed twist and new favorites - the chocolate eclair and maple cake donuts. Love this place! Hot donuts for the family! It is an old style donut shop where locals get together for their morning coffee and gossip and discuss the day's happenings. Check it out over coffee or milk. Have a hot glazed donut!

Non/description and tucked between a restaurant and another freestanding store, we almost didn't stop! Then I turned to all you wonderful Yelpers out there for your take in the place and we are SO glad for that! First of all we asked what was recommended, and received the most sincere "everything" that almost made us try one of everything. Didn't go crazy though- a few hours in to an all day road trip we didn't want sugar comas. We got maple bacon glazed, raspberry filled, plain cake, Bavarian filled and Cinnamon Sugar cake (as shown). Definitely worth stopping for the BEST maple bacon glazed donut I've ever had. Not too sweet maple glaze that had a bit of saltiness to it that made me want to eat it with a spoon, plus super savory chunks of bacon that were liberally sprinkled all over the tops. We'll be back!!

Friendly service and killer donuts! Coffee is rock solid too! I always pick McGaugh's up for my son and his fiancé every time I'm in town visiting them. You won't be disappointed!

Best doughnuts in this area. I always go through the drive thru when I'm in the area. The staff is super friendly and service is fast. Dunkin' and Krispy can't touch these local pastries.

Fabulous donuts made in house right in front of you. Glazed and cake plus specialty varieties. I have never been somewhere where they make kolashes and now I I have tasted a fresh one, worth it! Nice staff and a simple eating area if you can't wait to get your donuts home. Fill a morning donut and coffee desire by stopping the best place in Nashville.

Love this place! Have been getting donuts here for several years now and are the best in Nashville. Even what's in downtown! Went by a couple days ago and got some donuts and also noticed a sign in the drive thru window for the hours for the upcoming holiday and took a shot of it and will be uploading it, they'll be closed July 2nd to July 8th, so if you want any donuts at any reunions or get together better get in tomorrow! Haha! Also, nothing disappoints here. Any filling, whether fruit or cream, yeast or cake, and everything in between is amazing. They do not skimp on quality like so many others.

Best authentic donuts in the Nashville area. Got an assorted dozen and everyone loved them. The maple, chocolate glazed and lemon filled are our favorites.

OMG!! Best donuts ever!! I have had some good donuts in my 31 years on this planet, but this place is the best. The donuts are so light and airy, not very sweet. Just perfection. I'd give 10 stars if I could. I found my new favorite place.

The creme filled chocolate donut was a 3.5 but the regular glazed was a 3. I just like airy donuts like krispy Kreme. Best Donuts is the closet to Krispy Kreme so far. Anyway these donuts just have a dense texture on the inside but not as bad as some and they do glaze the full donut. So eating I didnt think it was bad I just wouldnt pay for them again. However, the chocolate creme filled one was a tad less dense and i may buy that again. And they were out of the compote donuts so I do want to try the apple compote donut.

Recommend if you like old fashion style fluffy donuts. We came here right before their 2pm closing on a Saturday so we got whatever they had left. The maple was fresh and yummy. The cream filled donuts were too sweet for me though. The lady helping us was super nice and this place was perfect stop before going to the hermitage tour.

My roommates and I spent months searching for Nashville's best donuts, and McGaugh's was a favorite of ours, and the only donut shop we returned to numerous times. If you're looking for an amazing classic donut, look no further. Boston cream, apple fritter, cinnamon sugar-- McGaugh's perfects them all without compromising on price.

I was looking for a new doughnut place to try- very impressed with the quality. You can taste that they are homemade with quality ingredients. Easy to get in and out of- their drive through is great too. Will try again for sure!

Home made everything Ever since Shipley closed in Madison I was very sad because I could not find the donut place that I loved. but Mcgaughs took over shipley's and their donuts are amazing everything is made in house even the frosting. when I eat these donuts it doesn't leave a gross oil after taste in my mouth

Stopped by to get a couple dozen donuts to take to a local police department. The service was friendly & fast and the donuts smelled amazing! I will definitely come here again.

Love this place so much! Very dangerously it's on my way home from work and open from 4a-4p so I have to stop myself from getting donuts every day. Everything is always fresh and delicious! It is all super reasonably priced and their staff is friendly! It's a place I will keep coming back to for a good solid donut and great service.
