"McGavock’s offers up belly-warming Southern-influenced brunch dishes like biscuits and gravy, herbed shrimp and grits, and lemon ricotta toast with peaches from its European-style confines in the Harpeth Hotel. Brunch cocktails — like mimosas and spritzes — are a boozy alternative to the caffeinated java drinks using beans from local roaster Honest Coffee." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

"The Harpeth Hotel’s on-site cafe, McGavock’s, is paying homage to Buddy the Elf with its holiday-themed pop-up bar, World’s Best Cup of Coffee. Inside, you’ll find festive Christmas decor as well as a selection of specialty holiday cocktails and bites like the eponymous World’s Best Cup of Coffee (espresso-infused vodka, vanilla syrup, dark roast, and winter spiced cream), Xmas Ornaments (grapefruit and rose vodka, rosemary syrup, black cherry), and the Cuddly Cactus (bright green spinach and artichoke dip, potato chips and pita chips). The experience runs through New Year’s Eve and is open Tuesday through Saturday starting at 5 p.m." - Jackie Gutierrez-Jones

We really enjoyed the Christmas themed space last night. Seating is limited due to it being a coffee shop and this should be expected. The “world’s best cup of coffee” was phenomenal! They did have the best whipped cream we have ever had ! SO GOOD! The kids enjoyed hot chocolate and whipped cream as well! Such a cute little place! Bring your babies they are welcome from 6-9!

During Christmas time, this little Coffee Bar turns into “The Worlds Best Cup of Coffee” pop up bar, reminiscent of the movie ‘Elf’. It was easy to find in downtown Franklin. Very small, and decorated adorable for Christmas. The line was long. You order your cocktail at the counter, and find a place to sit. We tried to order food, but they mixed up our order, and we never got it. We had to get a refund per the manager. While waiting for the food that never came, we had cute holiday drinks. They had a good menu of alcohol and non alcoholic drinks for the holiday. The hotel has valet parking in front for $10. If you get it validated in the main bar area it is $5. The lounge and main bar area is at the front when you walk in. They had a musician playing guitar, but it was not holiday music. The Worlds Best Cup of Coffee was around the corner to the right. Lastly, a little niche inside was decorated with the grinch and a Santa sleigh for photo ops. Very cute.

I have been coming here for a couple of years and it never disappoints. The food is delicious whether you get breakfast or lunch. Today it’s decorated for Christmas and it’s just beautiful.

This is a go-to spot in downtown Franklin. The coffee and drinks are amazing -- as is the menu. The staff is super friendly in a sincere way and the atmosphere is very comfortable. They also have a great little gift section in the corner.

It’s a lovely space! Coffee and food are great. I wish the baristas were much more friendly and had some southern charm and hospitality. The hours could be extended, felt pushed out the door twice.

My first visit to McGavocks for brunch was such a pleasant surprise! Everything looked delicious! Yummy smelling ☕️ coffees. Beautiful pastries 🥮 & cookies 🍪 in the bakery 🥯 case. I didn’t get to try them but will need to another visit! I did try the Apple 🍏 pecan pancakes with a side of bacon 🥓! Delicious!!! So very good! My daughter loves their breakfast potatoes 🥔 & kale 🥬 🥗 salad. I know what a combination right?! Our table enjoyed some other treats pictured below too. It was all delicious! The service was great. Everyone was very courteous. Outside seating is available. The location is downtown Franklin. A wonderful setting! Good walking area before or after you enjoy breakfast 🥞 or lunch 🥗 at McGavocks!

McGavock’s is a wonderful local coffee shop inside the Harpeth Hotel with great breakfast and lunch options. The coffees are wonderful along with lemon blueberry pancakes and avocado toast. We especially love Shannon our server!

Yelp
We live near downtown Franklin and this is one of our favorite breakfast spots. The food is always great and the coffee is delicious. I always get the Harpeth breakfast. It hits the spot and the toast and jam are fantastic. We love sitting outside on nice days but today was rainy so we were inside. Their inside holiday decorations were beautiful so it was a lovely breakfast view.

Yelp
This is the restaurant located inside The Harpeth. The servers are very efficient and friendly. Ambience- rustic charm. Ordered breakfast food - omelette, pastries, all delicious!

Cissy W.

Yelp
Full disclosure - we literally just stopped in to get some coffee so I have no feedback on food or dine in experience. However I found the counter experience to be very good. Order was taken and clarified by our barista, and prepared just like we asked. The fun part was that during the holidays, this is decorated full out! Many ELF references and just being there spreads cheer! Prices are in line with Franklin businesses. A very fun stop if you're downtown or want to meet a friend for some Holiday catching up.

Yelp
I was staying at the beautiful Harpeth hotel and called the coffee shop to try to place an order while I was on my way out of the hotel. A woman answered the phone and instantly sounded annoyed to be speaking on the phone. I asked for two iced lattes and asked if she recommended anything on the food/breakfast menu and she rudely said I could look it up myself on the website. I explained to her I couldn't find the menu on the website and if there was any item she would recommend and she sounded annoyed, sighed, and hung up. I tried calling again twice and no one picked up.. I then showered and 20min later went downstairs to the coffee shop and there were two woman standing behind the counter chatting with no customers and when I asked if they had gotten the iced lattes I ordered they both laughed and one woman said "The call must have dropped." They didn't prepare the coffees I ordered and purposely hung up and wouldn't pick up after I called again. I get it, working in the service industry can be tough at times but there were no customers waiting for anything, the employees weren't busy, and they laughed when I asked about my order. I just went to another coffee shop after this experience. I've read similar bad experiences from customers of this coffee shop. The Harpeth hotel is amazing but whoever manages this coffee shop should consider hiring new staff that is service oriented.

Yelp
As a long-time resident, this was a meeting place for me and a friend bc i had never been to the hotel... I thought we would be dining in the upscale restaurant 1799 for lunch, but i was informed it didn't open till 5pm... It was 11am, so i was directed to the little coffee shop I didn't know existed... It had limited seating inside, but some additional seating outside. The young employees were very friendly, but the older lady who appeared to be in charge, seemed very put off by me... She acted like she was offended when i asked about an entree on the menu and like she didn't understand what I was saying... The young clerk must've gathered her response didn't go over very well with me, so she responded quickly... She pointed out she knew exactly what I was asking and politely answered my question... I had asked a simple question, and i just expected a simple answer... The other lady (whom i was told was in a mngt position) stared me in the face, and gave me the impression she was offended I had any question at all... If it werent for the nice comments, big smiles, and eagerness to please customers, that the younger employees exhibit, I would not return.. I even overheard the "manager" speaking roughly to the younger employees, which completely irritated me... She was RUDE... A patron would expect to be treated graciously by all employees, especially those in management positions, at this establishment... The hotel in its entirety should want to uphold a good reputation, because it's the main hotel in downtown Franklin... Not only should it attract tourists, but it should also attract the local citizens in the area... I will be voicing my complaint, and I will go again, mainly to see if changes are made in the hospitality department... If so, i will frequent often with family and friends... If things don't change, there are plenty of places elsewhere that do welcome my patronage in the area. The food is attractive, in appearance and in description... It's a little different than you get at most places... So, I'm looking forward to trying most things on the menu... I'm looking forward to suggesting it to others... I just hope future visits are pleasurable experiences! I ordered a "house special".... The Avocado Toast was pretty good, would've been better if the bread hadn't been somewhat burned... I also odered the Fresh-cut Fries as a side, served with Smoked Tomato Jam... It was a big portion and the Jam was delicious!

Yelp
I came here on a whim and ended up having some the best food in downtown Franklin. The shop is super cute and nice and the outside area is lovely. I was served by several baristas, Jessica, Izzy, and Alyssa, who were super sweet. They were very attentive and helped me find a drink that would fit my preferences. I ended up trying the mango iced tea with extra sweetener. I also got some awesome food including steak and eggs, chicken club, biscuits and gravy. The mimosas also change frequently but I really enjoyed some of them. Absolutely recommend.

Yelp
Love this place. They've got great coffee, a fun and spacious area to hang, and the corizo bowl is delicious. Underrated spot right downtown Franklin

Yelp
My husband and I wanted to try and new place for lunch so we headed here. It's super cute on the inside and has a great patio on the outside. The baristas and servers were super friendly and helpful. One recommended the Cuban so I got it iced because it was a million degrees out. HOLY COW! Best Cuban I've ever had. So so good. Will definitely be ordering it again. My husband said his Patty Melt was super good. It was greasy but not the kind that makes you feel bad after you eat it. The perfect greasy He said they put some sort of sauce on it that's super yummy. I had the Harpeth Breakfast. It was ok. Literally the only reason I'm not giving five stars because we loved everything about this place. I plan to come back and try something else to eat and update my review then (most likely to five stars!) Here's the thing: the food is more expensive then some other places but that's also because it's in a hotel. Although my coffee was cheaper than some other coffee shops we've been to so you have to decide how you feel about that.... All in all 9/10. Would recommend!!!!

Yelp
First off superior hotel this is located in. The Harpeth is awesome but this place has the best omelette you can get period. Get atmosphere and service in the incredible downtown of Franklin

Yelp
Very nice coffee shop. Wonderful space to work in, meet in. Had coffee, tea, chicken salad croissant. All good. Service was nice and fast. I'll be back!

Chiara H.

Yelp
My son, 17, said his biscuit was the best he has ever eaten. I had a ham and cheese croissant. Great breakfast place with fresh food and fair prices!

Yelp
Had our first "brunch" at McGavock's last weekend with friends and family. What a warm and welcoming place to share a meal! Food was amazing, the staff friendly and efficient. Got to meet some of the chefs and a peek at the kitchen. Recommend this place for a wonderful interlude while touring the city of Franklin. A definite fan!

Richard W.

Yelp
It might be good for coffee but unless you have an extra hour to wait for your food don't come here.

Charles J.

Yelp
Slow service, unfriendly staff. Way overpriced. I waited 15 minutes for a bagel while my coffee got cold.

Kristine R.

Yelp
I met a friend here today during Main Street festival. The building is absolutely beautiful. It is very elegant and has a high end feel to it. They have really nice outdoor seating and the staff was very friendly and efficient. I would say the service was pretty great. I didn't have the coffee so I can't comment on that. However I did have the avocado toast and I was disappointed. For the $15 price tag it was skimpy and bland. I go to another restaurant and for $8 receive a very generous, delicious and flavorful portion. This was pretty pitiful to be honest. I would probably go back for the coffee and ambience but I will likely not try anymore food.

Timothy B.

Yelp
The food was fantastic! I got the steak and eggs. The barista named Ashley I believe was OUTSTANDING and so so kind to me and my family. The place has an awesome vibe if you are someone who works remotely!

Robert P.

Yelp
It's a hotel coffee shop - that should be enough explanation. Service and food were ok, service was a bit slow, my fruit and yogurt was served on a plate rather than in a bowl, still tasted fine, just looked odd. Priced comparatively to other coffee shops. The atmosphere was definitely not coffee shop quaint.

Amber M.

Yelp
Excellent lattes, really good breakfast menu (the everything bagel sandwich is mouthwatering- I don't know what they did to that bacon, but I'm still thinking about it). Great location, pleasant service, and very nice coffee shop vibe. I could come here every day and be happy- I wish I lived closer!

Mrs V.

Yelp
Tasty coffee. Slow service. Not very friendly! What's up with that Franklin? I thought Southerners were supposed to be friendly and have great hospitality. Nope.

J B.

Yelp
Based on the decor, prices and coffee equipment I was expecting this to be excellent coffee. We were sadly disappointed. Got a latte and a cappuccino, both were sub par. If you're looking for great coffee go somewhere else. Once we realize this was inside of a hotel we should've known it wasn't gonna be good!

Mitchell F.

Yelp
This place was really really great. The atmosphere is amazing and the service was very good. It feels very high end and is a great place to hangout on the patio. The food was excellent and this is one of my new favorite spots in Franklin.

Ashley W.

Yelp
This is such a fun place to eat at a great hotel! The food is very good. The coffee was also very good!

Lois B.

Yelp
We moved into The Harpeth Square Apartments on Monday. As we are still living with packing boxes everywhere we went to McGavock's for breakfast/lunch today . It was "wonderful"! Staff very pleasant and cheerful. We will most definitely be making it our "breakfast place". (Lunch menu items looked very inviting too)

Lisa R.

Yelp
They have the best outdoor space in town so a friend and I thought we'd give them a try for lunch today after our walk. We ordered a frittata and a wedge salad to share. It was expensive and took a really long time. I could give them a pass on both of these things if the food was good. It was not anything near good. The frittata seemed reheated , salty and the ingredients did not seem fresh. The wedge salad was mediocre. My fears about this "faux" boutique hotel have been fulfilled. I suppose it's about what one might expect from a Hilton. So sad.
