"At this Bellaire-area tea room, tea service is offered Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The $39 afternoon tea service, which is also available to-go with a 24-hour notice, features three bottomless teas, three flavors each of tea sandwiches and desserts, and two flavors of scones with jam and clotted cream. The tipsy service is worth the extra loot. Priced at $54 per person, it includes bottomless mimosas or bubbles." - Brittany Britto Garley, Megha McSwain

Hosted a bridal shower at McHugh’s. It was a seamless experience from start to finish. We were completely taken care of. The food was delicious and tea was perfect. We did bring some personalized decor but we didn’t need much as they took care of everything! Thank you!

I recently visited McHugh Tea Room & Gifts, and while my experience wasn’t perfect, I still enjoyed my time there. The tea selection was excellent, and the tea I ordered was delicious. The food was also pretty good—everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. However, the service was a bit slower than I expected. There were only two staff members working during my visit, and one of them was busy attending to a large party. It seemed like they were a bit understaffed that day, which may have contributed to the slower pace. One thing I didn’t know beforehand was that you have to reserve their tea tray a day in advance. I had just discovered the place that day, so I didn’t have the opportunity to try it, which was a little disappointing. That said, I totally understood their policy, and it’s good to know for future visits. Despite these small hiccups, I’d definitely come back to try them again. The tea and food were good enough to make me want to give it another shot, and I’m sure the staff was doing their best under the circumstances. It might have just been an off day, and I’m curious to see how they are on a fully-staffed day!

McHugh Tea Room & Gifts is an absolute gem! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the tea selection is incredible. What really sets this place apart is the owner, Amy—she’s incredibly hospitable and goes out of her way to make every guest feel welcome. Amy’s passion for tea truly shines as she takes the time to educate you about the different blends, their origins, and how best to enjoy them. It’s a rare and refreshing experience that keeps you coming back. Highly recommend for tea lovers or anyone looking for a cozy, enriching visit!

Google
This review is specifically for the CHRISTMAS AFTERNOON TEA. The website is not clear, it is $55/person even for children. The entire tea is more of a snack. VERY light tea. For the extra cost, you’d think they’d give you enough food for a meal. The quality of the sandwiches and desserts was terrible. Sandwiches were straight from a kid’s lunchbox- slab of ham, white bread, and cranberry jelly..then white bread, bell peppers, and 2 spinach leaves. Then some chopped up cat food on a cracker. Sure they were cute, but not worth the $55. The scones and pecan pie were the only things worth mentioning. The tea selection is great and customer service was friendly. But do NOT pay extra for the “special” tea service for Christmas. Total rip off. The regular afternoon tea looks great, sandwiches were full sized and desserts actually filled up the plate they were brought on. Our entire party felt ripped off for the price once we saw a table next to us with the regular afternoon tea.

I celebrated a friend's birthday today. The tea service for 2 was fabulous. We received 3 teas, 2 scones (warm from the oven), 3 sandwiches (chicken salad, pimento cheese and cucumber), and 3 desserts (lemon bar, brownie and cupcake). Our waiter was Nancy and she was excellent. She noticed we had a child's tea set and she graciously shared the small tea set they use for children's parties. Everything was delicious beyond description. I HIGHLY recommend!

Google
I had the most delightful experience at McHugh Tea Room! The ambiance was charming, and every detail was thoughtfully curated. A special thank you to Nancy and Miriam, who were absolutely amazing. Their warm hospitality and impeccable service made the morning truly memorable for my birthday. The tea selection was extensive, and the treats were delicious. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy and elegant tea experience!

Google
I am genuinely surprised at how highly this tea room is rated, as this was the worst afternoon tea experience I have had. Let’s start with the pros: great tea selection and they were all high quality teas. The location is cozy and kind of cute, but again I have seen better. Sadly, that concludes the positive aspects of the experience- everything else of this afternoon tea was a con. The scones were tiny and dense, not how a scone should be. The flavor was fine, but not fine enough to save them. The sandwiches were decently flavored as well but were served on stale white bread that I’m sure they bought from Walmart. Afternoon tea comes with an expectation that everything is fresh and homemade, and this almost certainly wasn’t. The desserts were inedible with no flavor profile besides white sugar. As a cherry on top, the service was a disgrace. As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a woman who rolled her eyes at us and looked like she absolutely hated her life and/or job. Unfortunately she was our server and her attitude did not improve. She’s very lucky that gratuity is included in the price because the tip was not at all deserved. All of this for over $100 for two people. My tea friend (who is British) mentioned that sometimes afternoon tea isn’t as much of an experience, and is just regular food. This could be the case here, but it is not how their afternoon tea is advertised or priced. Overall, I was extremely disappointed.

Yelp
Great to order for a baby shower. The pimento cheese sandwiches were the bomb. Desserts especially the lemon squares were great. Really good spot for high tea!

Yelp
wonderful scones, soup, and sandwiches AND they had the best peach iced tea I've ever had!! well worth a visit and would be a lovely place to take a friend for a special lunch

Rachele V.

Yelp
Great service and delicious food. Always a good time. I'll be back again soon. Check it out!

Yelp
I came to this tea room with my ten year old sister. Making reservations is a little iffy, I called the day before for a 1:30 next day reservation which was accepted! But when we got there for our reservation we were not on the list. The confirmation text they had sent me was for the same time I called the previous day which didn't make sense either. Thankfully they did have our food in the back anyways so we did get to have our tea that day. The food was all super cute! The scones were definitely our favorite thing. We got the Halloween special tea so all of the food was themed to that. The three teas we ordered were Vanilla Matcha, Strawberry Kisses and Butterfly Pea. If you have children I definitely recommend these three she loved all of them. Vanilla Matcha was her favorite.

Brittany M.

Yelp
We ordered tea and treats to go. Everything was beautiful and I would love to go in person. The only thing I didn't like was the clotted cream as it had no flavor what so ever.

Valerie M.

Yelp
Service was a bit slow, but warm and friendly. Three generations of us, the youngest 6 years old, and we all had a lovely time at afternoon tea. The tea, sandwiches, and baked treats were delicious. Can't wait to visit again!

Ms Ruby O.

Yelp
Cute shop with a plethora of teas. The pastries and mini sandwiches were so cute with edible glitter sprinkled. The service was excellent. The only thing I could suggest for a high tea ambiance feel is to have sugar cubes and real honey with a cute honey sever instead of sugar packets

JJ D.

Yelp
I like the tea place, good atmosphere and service. We tried a few things. I love green tea scones.

Kathern K.

Yelp
The staff was very welcoming and attentive to our needs. The place was very clean and had tons of cute decor as well as loose leaf tea, and other accessories for purchase. Really wish I had time to book the afternoon tea experience, but I did a walk-in, and the food was amazing!

Allie S.

Yelp
I tried their lemon bar and raspberry lemon bar at the Bellaire Foodie Fest. It was delicious. The crust was flakey and the lemon tasted like real lemons. I haven't tried their other foods but I would go back for lemon bars.

Kim T.

Yelp
Never knew this place existed. Cute atmosphere with celebrities framed on their walls. The ambiance is super cute for get together. They have a semi private room that could fit a small party for an intimate baby shower or graduation. They have an extensive tea menu and a few food options as well. I had their Wedding Soup that had plenty of meat but little noodles. I also had their ham and cheese croissant, pretty predictable sandwich nothing special but still delicious. Wish they toasted it so the cheese was melty but a good staple to try. They cut the croutons into cute hearts. My first time trying scones as well. Delicious with cream and jam. Will definitely come back to try out more teas.

Yelp
This was my first time having an afternoon tea, and I would be lying if I said I was satisfied. It is a requirement to call a day ahead for the afternoon tea. The inside is clean and small, it has a little wall of things you can purchase for tea to the left right as you walk in. My favorite tea was the Bikini Peach Body, the Earl Grey came second, lastly the strawberry kisses. The tea had unlimited refills, but honestly unless you have a party of maybe 4 or more it's too much tea. For the two of us, there was a chicken salad sandwich, a cheese something sandwich, and half of a cucumber sandwich with the crust cut off and some sparkles added with some shapes. On the top was a brownie, an apple fritter, and cupcakes. We also received two types of scones. MUCH was to be desired with each of these things. The fritter and brownie were dry, and I'm not into brightly dyed foods so I did not want to try the cupcakes as it was not appealing to me. Nothing exceptionally stood out to me in terms of flavor, everything was fairly plain. I'm telling you all of this because I personally do not believe it was worth the price. 3 sandwiches, 2 baby scones, and desserts that didn't have much quality to them, and 3 sets of tea. Our total for everything for two people was $100 and some change. If I'm spending this much on something I would expect the quality to be a lot better, but this fell short of my expectations both on the food side and the server side. The server we had was alright, she told us to order 3 teas out of the blue. I was reading the menu but she took it out of my hands, as she said that we had already requested the afternoon tea. No explanation of what was to come nor if there was a food preference or food allergy. I ended up not eating 3 of the items we received out of my personal preference for taste. And I did not appreciate that she pulled the menu out of my hands. As we were sitting there for perhaps an hour and a half, she checked on us maybe twice. But what I did not appreciate was that my significant other came in, did not want to interrupt my conversation so asked our server if he could sit at the bar and order a tea or how he was supposed to order. But she just responded with "Huh?" He tried explaining I was sitting inside and was waiting for me, and she didn't understand what he was saying so she told him to sit outside and wait. I wasn't aware of their interaction, I was only aware after I turned around and saw him sitting outside by himself. I told him to come inside to sit with us. She apologized for the misunderstanding but it was something that was easily avoidable if she had just asked further or for clarification. I will not come here again.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised to find this place tucked behind Samurai, next to Vivaldi in Bellaire. I have lived in Bellaire for years and didn't know we had this gem, a tea shop and restaurant in our neighborhood. The food was very good and hit the spot. I had the veggie sandwich and added bacon. For tea, I had the white tea with peach. The tea and scones were amazing! Our server was very sweet and I loved everything she suggested. The ambience was very charming and quaint, perfect for lunch with friends or tea time in the afternoons. Will definitely be returning soon!

Erica M.

Yelp
A friend and I stopped in for some afternoon tea and lunch. Cute little spot that's located in the heart for Bellaire. Plenty of parking, and perfect outside seating. Nancy was our server and she was so patient and pleasant. I chose the BLT w/ side of fruit. The BLT was a bit hard and dry, which I expected by the appearance and the fruit had a soapy taste, I didn't like. But the vanilla matcha scones were the star of the show. I make a weekly visit for these alone.

Naomi A.

Yelp
I used to live in Australia and drink tea all the time. I couldn't find the type of tea I used to drink in the US. So, I swapped to coffee. I love their tea a lot. Now I am back to the tea drinker.

Katy M.

Yelp
TERRIBLE SERVICE and forced gratuity! Do not go- I had my husband accompany me for a Valentine's tea and I don't know if we upset Miriam or she was just in a foul mood- but we will never go back.

Yelp
I visited multiple tea rooms in the Houston area since fall of 2023 searching for the perfect place for my bridal tea shower. This place won me over! My mom and I went during the Christmas Holidays and within the first 10 minutes I knew this was the place for my shower. Literally put the deposit down to hold my date before leaving. I had the option to rent the entire tea room to accommodate my party. The experience was spectacular! My family, bridal party, and guests cannot stop talking about how awesome it turned out. Our dedicated servers, Jay, and Miriam were terrific. From the moment I stepped into the tea room they were expecting me and were 100% ready to go with everything. The owner, Woody, stopped by as well to check on things which is some pretty top notch customer service. Their teamwork was great and we felt as though they were part of our event! Nancy was my event planner and she was so easy to work with. She made the event planning less stressful. I am beyond grateful to have had such a wonderful bridal shower experience.

Yelp
I took my niece here for Afternoon High Tea. We both really enjoyed it. There was a cute plate on the table with my name on it which signified our reserved table. Since this was our first time here, the server went over the tea menu and selections with us. There was so many to choose from. We had the choice of 3 bottomless teas. I can not remember the names of the ones we choose, but they were colorful and good. One of the teas were blue and when you add lemon juice to it, it turned purple. We were given two scones each which was very good. I believe they were Buttermilk and Vanilla Matcha. We had clotted cream and strawberry jam to put on them. Next the server brings out the sandwiches and desserts. We had 3 sandwiches each; chicken salad, cucumber, and pb&j. I had them switch out the pimento. For desserts we each had a lemon bar, strawberry cupcake, and a brownie in a cup. The experience was highly delightful and fun. My niece really enjoyed it. The food was great. The decor was cute. They even had to go cups available so you can take the rest of your tea with you. I highly recommend this as a fun treat and something different to do. This experience is not only for kids to enjoy but for anyone of any age.

Jessica O.

Yelp
Came here for a date with my Bestie for afternoon tea & had a pleasant experience. Service was great ! The tea was absolutely yummy. Our favorite was the Vanilla Matcha. My only complaint is that one of the sandwiches was awful, it was a cheese & something else mixture that just didn't mix well. Also, the brownies were drier than the Sahara & hard as a rock. The scones were a major hit with us. I also enjoyed that they have so many cute tea sets !

Sofia K.

Yelp
The restaurant was beautifully decorated but it can get cramped and loud. The setup was nice. Not all sandwiches and pastries were good. The stars were the teas. Amazing! Huge variety and so flavorful. The service was lukewarm. We enjoyed ourselves.

Deneese J.

Yelp
I wrote a comprehensive review about a recent Mother's Day excursion at this restaurant. Then I received a reply from the owner that felt like, perhaps, my experience was not indicative of the "regular" experience of others. How condescending! I cannot speak to the experience of others but I KNOW what we were subjected to during our visit. We live in a very diverse world where difference does not denote deficit--just difference. If you want any future business from me or others that I have influence over, I suggest that you listen to what is being said rather than support what is being done. However, that compliance is only if you desire our continual business.

Deneese J.

Yelp
The food was mediocre and the service was minimal. We will not be returning to this place any time soon.

Lauren G.

Yelp
This tea room is exceptional! The food was prepared so wonderfully and the service was incredible. I highly recommend the tea spritzers. The grilled cheese on sour dough was heavenly along with the exceptional tomato basil soup. The scones were served warmed and were delicious!

Jenny F.

Yelp
We booked this place for a birthday, we spent $600 here and were rushed out of this place 15-20 min before our time was up, we received one refill on one pot of tea after waiting with our cups dry for the majority of our time. Our waitress was in a bad mood, she had no ppl skills and burned one of the guests. We gave them a cake to bring out and they never brought it out. This was by far a huge disappointment. For the amount of money we spent here it was definitely not worth it. Save your money, the place looks cute but the service was awful. We have been to high tea before and this was not it, we didn't even get enough goodies for everyone invited. The birthday person ate one dessert and one sandwich. Waste of money, tea was watered down. The only good tea was the matcha and we waited for the refill and had to drink it so fast because they kicked us off the table. It was the most uncomfortable time. Birthday was ruined.

Mitzie C.

Yelp
Do not reserve Birthday reservations if you are hungry. For $50. a person you do not choose your food. There are lots of choices if you just ask for regular menu and they do not allow changes even if your allergic. BEWARE of Reservation choices, do your homework if you go there!!! & Dirty Restroom! Very bad Customer Serviceas well! On a positive note, Cute setup!

Gina F.

Yelp
Ambiance was wonderful. Staff was so nice! It was my first time there, and I'm already planning our next visit! Also Pimento cheese grilled on sourdough: DELICIOUS. Don't sleep on it.

Amy C.

Yelp
What a nice experience. The tea room is a charming little spot with some beautiful China. I want to buy it all! The sandwiches were a little on the simple side but they were good, as were the desserts. There was a great selection of teas, some of which I haven't seen anywhere else. The scones were small but good. I do feel like there could have been more cream/jam given per table as I asked for more but it never came. The lunch food that others were ordering around us looked absolutely delicious. I will say that it was very loud inside the restaurant, it was hard to hear each other talking. But service was good and the pricing was right. Great little place!

Gigi H.

Yelp
This place is really cramped and cluttered. The food is okay. It's just way overpriced. I went at 2pm expecting a quiet atmosphere. It was super busy and full of commotion. I'm sure that's music to the owner's ears because they overcharging quite a bit. For this expensive experience, this restaurant should be located in a high end plaza instead of a ghetto-like strip center that's super hard to get into. One might walk in thinking they've found a hidden hole in the wall, that they might have discovered a deal in the neighborhood. They would walk out feeling lighter because their wallets and tummies are empty.

Jessica J.

Yelp
My favorite tea! It's reasonably priced, feels fancy/cute yet a little quirky! The staff is awesome, and they have a wonderful selection of teas. Their afternoon tea sandwiches and dessert are my favorite. This place also has take away tea packages which is cool if you're hosting a little party at home! Love!

Travel F.

Yelp
Afternoon tea is overpriced for the amount of food and draggy, inattentive service (which you're forced to tip 20% for). $50 a person for two tiny scones + stingy portions of clotted cream, jam and lemon curd; three finger sandwiches; and three bite-sized desserts. We waited almost half an hour for the first food to reach our table. Ambiance was nice enough but did not reflect the price.

Tia C.

Yelp
A hidden and remarkable gem tucked away near Chinatown! Ever since having high tea at Balmoral in Edinburgh, our expectations for high tea have been elevated. McHugh Tea did not disappoint and we are excited to have something like this in Houston! We went for afternoon high tea on a Saturday for our anniversary. I called the day before to make reservations over the phone and it was super easy. Parking was plentiful in front of the shop (they have a large parking lot). My husband is vegetarian so we requested that the high tea have vegetarian sandwiches. There were three types - cucumber/cream cheese, savory cheese and a vegetarian salad sandwich instead of chicken salad. The sandwiches were all yummy and the savory cheese was as authentic as it comes. It also came with two scones (a bit bigger than macarons) that were cranberry/orange and matcha. They came with clotted cream, strawberry jam and lemon curd. The scones were very light and fluffy and served warm. While I've had clotted cream and strawberry jam frequently, I have never had lemon curd and it was a pleasant combination! The small desserts were a good addition to the teas. I'm terms of the teas, they had a great selection of white, black, oolong and green teas. We picked the Silver needle (white tea), Honeysuckle Fig (oolong) and Pu-erh teas. Our waitress guided us on the order to drink the tea and it was very helpful because we enjoyed the flavors more. The Honeysuckle Fig was unanimously our favorite as it had a natural sweetener. Overall, we had a great time and plan on being back again!

Wen Z.

Yelp
We had a birthday celebration there recently. The place is very quaint and staff was super friendly. Would definitely recommend it to our friends. We felt protected because their staff was all wearing masks, and also there is a sign on the door reminding patrons to wear their masks. Their tea selections were awesome!

Nancy K.

Yelp
What a delight. My friends are Anglophiles and I am schooled on afternoon tea and high tea from Claridge's so I was delighted that this tea shop did everything "correctly" while still being unpretentious and good. The price will seem a bit high to some for what it is if you think about like a restaurant which it is not. It is an experience and so while 35 plus gratuity and tax may seem steep (pun!) it was not to us. We had a group of 14 ladies and chose 4 bottomless teas. We enjoyed trying all of them and preparing them differently and our servers were wonderful. There is some outdoor seating as well as indoor seating and we enjoyed the ambiance and decor as well. The bread on our sandwiches was moist and tender (a Claridge's standard as well), scones delicious, and the wall of bulk tea for sale and a few thoughtful accoutrements was quite nice. Our favorite was a tea towel printed with "it's okay dishes, no one is doing me either " which became quite the topic of conversation. Would absolutely do this again!

Monica A.

Yelp
We had a lovely Mother daughter tea. It's our annual Christmas event. McHugh was able to accommodate us at the last minute, the price is reasonable $35 for high tea. The food is great. The cucumber sandwiches, lemon curd and scones are delicious. Best red velvet cupcakes I've had in a long time, moist and chocolate. We ordered three different teas and they were all amazing and bottomless.? I'm thinking a return trip to try out the strawberry cake I kept eyeing. We had so much food and dessert no room for extras. Strawberry cake hold on I'll be back. Cute place in located in strip mall , I loved all the tea themed decor. There is plenty of free parking. Bellaire, Texas has a sweet gem.

P W.

Yelp
This was my first time attending an Afternoon Tea and it was lovely. Darling, you must try it sometime

Dee W.

Yelp
Excellent tea selections, prepared perfectly. The scones and lemon curd are delicious--but minuscule portions. The sandwiches are not as good as the tea and scones, but still a very good choice for afternoon tea or lunch.

Farrah A.

Yelp
Looking for a darling social activity to do with friends or kiddos? How about some afternoon tea, or high tea, or boozy tea? Before the holidays, my girlfriends and I wanted to gather for tea on a patio, and McHugh Tea offers just that. Reservations are required, and that's understandable because they provide a lovely spread. Minimum two people for tea service, and it ranges from $30 to $45, depending if you're adding wine to your experience. Service includes bites, along with up to three bottomless tea options. We started with a floral tea, followed by a banana and rum-flavored tea, ending with chai. And of course we opted for the wine. For those who love all things glitter, the food is sprinkled with it. I personally, will ask to do without it next time. And they do have vegetarian options (not vegan). They are also offering tea service to-go. And as I mentioned previously, they do have outdoor seating (though inside is really cute and cozy). Looking for a gift? They have a ton of teas to choose from, along with trinkets and sweets. Plenty of parking, and I believe it's ADA compliant, or at least wheelchair accessible.

Jennifer P.

Yelp
Wanted to enjoy girl time with the ladies enjoying chit chat and yummies. This place was perfect for a 2:00 teatime. The service was attentive and with the $30 per person we received finger foods, desert and three choices of different tea unlimited. We laughed and joked and made wonderful memories.

Lourdes P.

Yelp
I took my mom and aunt here for a belated Mother's Day celebration and they both loved it. We did the afternoon tea and everything was so much fun. For afternoon tea everyone gets a pot of their choice of tea, scones, sandwiches, and desserts. The tea and food was amazing. My favorite sandwich was the pimento cheese one. I got the vanilla mint chai tea and am already craving more just thinking about how delicious it was. Oh and the scones!!! The scones were soooo so good! They had so much fun doing something different and were so delighted. It's so pretty inside and the staff was great. My mom already wants to go back!

Karen D.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday for late lunch/high tea. My dining partner and I each ordered one set of the high tea - one normal and one holiday. It was wonderful to try the 6 different finger sandwiches and desserts. The desserts were so visually stunning, with sugar chunks and glitter to add to the holiday feel. The 2 scones we each got were so flakey and flavorful. The teas (3, all bottomless) were wonderful, and service was on point. Love the homey ambiance. Overall, a great experience!

Shelene L.

Yelp
I am the first to admit that I am a novice when it comes time tea houses. However, I first visited McHugh this past fall for a professional event. I found it to be a pleasant establishment with a wide variety of teas and tea accessories available for purchase. Its comfortable interior makes for a relaxed environment. I totally didn't feel as though I needed to be on my "Ps" and "Qs". LOL What initially caught my eye is their "Butterfly" tea. What makes it so unique is its incredible, rich, blue color. When poured from the teapot it was a dark but not quite navy, blue. The coolest aspect was that after adding acid (in this case lemon) the color changed from blue to purple to fuchsia! This is all natural, the result of the acidic addition and way cool to see. I'll be honest, the tea has very little flavor and in my opinion needs the lemon wedge for taste. If you don't think this is something of interest, there are loads of tea offerings available from around the globe. The Butterfly is an Asian tea but there are standard varieties, as well as Indian teas, too. The customer service is outstanding. The owner is a delightful woman who is knowledgeable about her product. She also offers weekend Teas and cooking classes. Both require reservations and spaces fill up quickly. Don't delay. Go today!

Moni T.

Yelp
Positives: great selection of quality organic teas, cute decors, very easy to park, very easy to make a reservation for the afternoon tea service. Love the idea of the afternoon tea experience We tried so hard to love this place but here are the reasons we couldn't give more stars: 1. The price. It is $30 per person, which is reasonable. But you will be surprised when you get the bill, because they automatically add 20% gratuity to your total, like many others have mentioned in their reviews before. It gets quite expensive real quick. 2. The service. The service is okay, they bring you the tea and pour you the tea etc. But we felt so rushed throughout the experience because they only give you a two hour window for such an elaborate experience, and we got reminders from the last 30 minutes on. We were rushed to pay by the one hour 45 minutes mark, and can't even enjoy the rest of the time there. It felt like a race, we had to hurry to move through the tiers so we can finish in 2 hours, instead of enjoying the tea experience like a lady would. 3. The quality of the dessert was very okay. For afternoon tea, we would expect somewhat fancier versions of dessert, not just brownies, lemon bars with glitters, and vanilla mini cupcakes. Very disappointed with the dessert.

Yelp
This place is super cute! So glad we stopped by here. I've always been into tea parties and the sort, and this was a perfect visit for me. Our waitress was very helpful and accommodating throughout our experience. The menu had so much to offer in terms of food and teas!! Pleasantly overwhelmed. We decided to split our meal with tea today so we ordered the tomato basil soup, which came with cute heart and star shaped croutons! It was so yummy and smooth. Very hearty and filling. We also got the McHugh Tea dessert shooters (basically a dessert sampler) and we picked lemon bar, earl gray butter cookie, and matcha brownie. The lemon bar was delicious, moist, subtle lemon flavor, HIGHLY RECOMMEND. The earl gray butter cookie was also delicious but we could not taste the earl gray infusion. However, still yummy and worth getting. The matcha brownie was very moist but we also could not taste the matcha. It was chocolatey but a bit too sweet for our liking. We picked a wild raspberry tea, which has green tea blended with wild raspberries and rose buds. Very aromatic and delicious. Did I mention the lemon bar and matcha brownie had edible glitter atop them??? Very aesthetic. Overall I would definitely come back to try more teas and more of their wonderful desserts (including the lemon bar!)

Yelp
A lovely place to get tea without being overly priced or stuffy. The food is delicious and the there is tons of tea to choose from.

Yelp
I had afternoon tea here today and wanted to say that the experience was delightful! They accommodated an all vegetarian menu for food and their tea selection is great! Note: if you like oolong, get the honeysuckle fig oolong tea. Staff is great and helpful. Honestly, they make the experience amazing. I will be back again when possible!

Yelp
I took my two great-nieces to McHugh's yesterday. Neither had ever been to a high tea and I wanted them to have the experience. I had been to McHugh's before, but not for quite some time; I couldn't remember why. The high tea is very satisfactory, and beautifully served, but the attitude of our server was anything but welcoming. I remembered this from my last visit. The high tea is not inexpensive, which did not bother me, but the frosty service, particularly when I asked for water, and a separate servings of clotted cream, jam, and lemon curd, was hostile. One of my nieces had to get up to retrieve the lemon curd. Most upsetting was the fact that I purchased several products; tea cups, loose tea, and some food to go, which automatically had a 20% gratuity added to the bill. I am generally a very generous tipper but feel that a gratuity should be for the service and not automatically added on. Certainly, it should never be added for non-service items (tea cups, loose tea), when I asked for the bill to be redone, my server was visibly annoyed and said she asked me if I wanted just one bill, but never said it would include a 20% gratuity for the products. She redid the bill to exclude the products but said she could not remove the food items to go from the 20% service fee. I did not want to spoil the experience for my nieces so I just paid the bill, and the excessive additional 20%. My nieces were so impressed with the idea of high tea I am arranging to take them both to London, in August, to have high tea at Brown's where the service is as welcoming and memorable as tea. The sad part is, it is a lovely place that for some reason does not seem to enjoy the process of introducing this lovely custom it patrons.

Yelp
When a friend's mom requested having lunch at a tearoom, I had no idea about this little hidden gem!!! It was exactly what she wanted and the lunch was fabulous!!! The quiche was delicious, as well as the scones! The best part was our waitress, Nancy!! She helped us navigate the options on the menu and did so with such an excitement! We loved our lunch and hope to be back for a High Tea next time! Also, we are thankful there was room for us!! The place was very crowded!!!

Yelp
The wide variety of tea selections is definitely a draw. However, I would recommend sticking only to tea as an after lunch outing. The food isn't unique enough to justify the price point. The deserts were subpar. I would also call ahead and reserve a table as you will receive partial treatment. I came with my wife and a friend and the server came to our table 4 times over the span of two hours. The server justified the slow service due to a reservation of a larger party, which, communicated us that we were not valued. It's likely I will have a better experience next time but the first impression was disappointing.

Yelp
This place is really cute! I went there and ordered the quiche special which comes with a slice of quiche and soup. So I got the quiche Lorraine which has cheese and bacon and the tomato basil soup. Both were very good. The soup was thick and creamy and the quiche was amazing. The crust was cooked just perfectly. We also ordered strawberry kisses tea and chai tea. I enjoyed both and would definitely order the strawberry kisses again. The service was a bit slow but maybe it just goes with the British culture of tea time as being a time to just relax and not feel rushed?? I don't know just giving the benefit of the doubt. But I did enjoy this place and the overall atmosphere. Quiche Lorraine: 5 stars! Tomato basil soup: 5 stars Strawberry kisses tea: 5 stars Chai tea: 4 stars Service: 4 stars Atmosphere: 5 stars
