The McLaren Vale wine region, home to around 65 wineries, is near Adelaide, South Australia. It’s the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula's wine-growing area, between the Gulf St. Vincent inlet and Mount Lofty Ranges. Olive and almond groves are scattered among its vineyards. The town of McLaren Vale, the region's hub, is the starting point for the Shiraz Trail, which follows a former rail route to the town of Willunga.
