Hello. I’ve tried McLaughlin Coffee for the first time today at one of my employer’s accounts. I’m the beverage tech and coffee specialist and have been in the coffee industry for 20 years. I looked up McLaughlin Coffee and see many great reviews as far as customer service, friendly atmosphere, customer’s favorite blends, many love the Sumatra blend. Here they have the Max’s Blend and the Espresso. I have to give my expert opinion. Max’s Blend is over roasted, way too dark. The beans are glossy from the oils coming out from over roasting. May I suggest cutting back on the roasting time just a little? The oils should stay contained within the bean so that they’re released during the brewing process giving the profile an even better flavorful rich balance of woodsy, Smokey finish without tasting like charbucks. Your espresso blend is nice and well balanced. I didn’t have to do too much calibration on the grinder or the brewer to compensate for the over roasting of the Max Blend. I’m curious to try the Sumatra that most of the customers posted reviews about.
