Stopped in here to escape the heat with some out of state friends. The bartender was very nice and helpful when trying to decide which drink to have. He was also very passionate about his Corgi, Luna "silver shark" 😂 I hope to meet her someday! It was a cute little place to stop for a beer, popcorn and ice cream sandwich 🍻 🍿 🍦 They did have a large selection of beverages from near and far in fridges lining the walls. I was intrigued by the pre built boxes that have everything you need to make a specific drink. Cool place for sure 😊

Google
This is mostly a beer/ale place as far as I could tell. Lots and LOTS of choices!! I was looking for wine and found a nice Pinot Noir for a reasonable price. They were serving my choice at the bar and was offered a taste before I bought it, very good. I ended up ordering a full glass of the wine that i planned on buying. As I sipped my wine I had a delightful talk with the barkeeper He knew all the small production beers that I liked from california ( my home state). If you are on or near 23rd street Portland and looking for a comfortable, easy place to have a quality beer or wine, this is it. To-go adult beverages are available, especially beers- there's a huge selection

There are so many things in this shop! Taproom, wine, and many many gifts. Very friendly staff and comfortable atmosphere. We stopped in for a few minutes, and ended up staying a while.

Great place if you want to have a HUGE selection of beers and wine. The customer service was excellent. She had just this day got over twenty four years there

In our wanderings, my wife and I are discovering new places all the time, but this one took us both by surprise. Wandering down 23rd, we came upon this shop while waiting for the Tavern & Pool location on the other end of the block to open up 10 minutes later. What a cool shop! There are simply hundreds of microbrews on the shelves or in the coolers here, many of them obscure or unusual draughts, of all flavor profiles, from stouts to sours. Even drinking vinegar! Behind the counter, a healthy selection (~24) of brews are available for filling bottles and growlers. McMenamins alcohols, memorabilia and paraphernalia, souvenirs, gifts, interesting treats and snacks, and a healthy selection of "tools of the trade" (coasters, bottle openers, glassware, etc) fills out the shelving island in the center of the store. If you can't find something you like here, head to a dive bar up the street and order a Budweiser, because this place isn't for you. I'm more of a hard alcohol imbiber myself, but I could get lost in the adventure of picking out a handful of cans (you can build your own 4-packs here!) and rolling the dice. In fact, the adventure has already begun! The 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop has jumped straight to the top of my go-to places when I want to try something new, exotic or just plain different!

Google
Nice people serving beers from about 20 taps featuring some of their beers and some guest beers, like Pliny the Elder. Quaff a pint while checking out what beers you'll take home with you from their extensive selection. No food is served here, but their tavern is next door.

Google
McMenamins properties are always an experience. On our quest today Lee gave us the 5star experience. She was knowledgeable, engaging and quite friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her.

Google
This is a super cool place to get drinks and hang out. I like that it’s similar to a convenience store with wide variety of beverages to choose from. If you’re looking to stay and have drinks, they have beers and cider on tap as well. They also have some cute novelty gift items. Overall, I really liked the vibe of the place.

Yelp
We love the bottle shop. They have 20+ beers and ciders tapped. They also have all the McMenamins spirits and accessories available. They do some great specials throughout the week. If you're in the area I definitely recommend checking them out. Very extended selection of beers in the cases. Right next to Tavern and Pool location if you want a proper meal, but they have do tables and the bar to sit and grab a pint. The servers here have always been great. Also a great place to go for some stamps if you're a Passporter.

Yelp
This McMenamins boasts a laid back and welcoming atmosphere. It's the type of place where you can feel at home becoming one of "the regulars". Unlike other McMenamins, this one is centered around its bottleshop, and fully-serviced by its bar. There is no wait-staff or host counter, and that's what gives it its unique charm. Order a pint, get some tater tots, and enjoy the company of your party, the bar staff, a book, or the city in passing, all at your own pace. If the rotating draft selection doesn't satisfy your cravings, they'll be happy to serve you any item from the shop's vast selection of bottles and cans. It also happens to boast a nice little gift selection, where my visitors and I myself have picked up souvenir shirts and glassware. PS: If it's not too busy, inquire about the history of this location. You won't regret it.

Yelp
They have parking? That's rare in this local. A few spots if you're lucky 5 stars for sure as they have the best beer/bottle selection IMO in the NW. plus they have a full draft selection, MM swag, liquor, bubbles! Etc. drink inside our outside. It's great people watching in the spring or summer. They had the Warrior game! Checkout the employee picks on at the bar for that fine beer selection. Want a meal? Order Life of Pie across the street or go to the McMenamins pub just 20 yards south. Also, Treat Yo Self

Yelp
Best place to come for Christmas gifts. Employees are very helpful. I could spend a fortune in here if I had it.

Yelp
Part bar, part store, wholly a place that I want to be. We had stopped in because our lunch spot was not open yet and seeing as how we just got into town and started out vacation, we opted for some late morning libations. I am so glad we stumbled upon this place. Instead of just popping in for about 15 minutes, we ended up staying nearly an hour have a few drinks, trying samples, talking to and asking the kind bartender questions, and perusing the store. Honestly, we could not have asked for a better start to our trip; it honestly set the whole tone. We met some very nice people, tried some new and delicious drinks, and quickly fell in love with the place and the area. Stop by, have a few drinks and a good conversation with the bartender, you won't regret it. This is also a good spot to pick up one or two of the many local beer/cider offerings, as it is of course a bottle shop.

Yelp
I come here a couple times a year to buy presents for family and friends. Their McMenamins-branded booze is top shelf quality and the prices are adequate and a good value. In addition to their brand, they also carry a great variety of beers, fortified wine and coolers. I love looking through the tchotchkes and merch as well. They have their own small parking lot adjacent and they were super nice at letting me stay with my disabled placard while I went to the bar next door.

Yelp
The Bottle Shop is an excellent showcase of McMenamins and local beer in general. I love coming here and mixing and matching a few different cans or bottles, all of which are usually satisfying. This makes it an excellent stop for gifts or out-of-towners, not to mention the fabulous McMenamins merch.

Yelp
McMenamins Bottleshops are the places to go if you want to purchase bottles of their alcohol, hard and soft. I don't know how many or where they are all located but this one is conveniently placed in Portland on 23rd Ave close to other interesting, shops and dining. The McMenamins brand is called, "Edgefield" because theses where they brew it and I can vouch and review it honestly as, delicious. Here is my empty bottle of Monkey Puzzle whiskey that was consumed responsibly yet, without hesitation. YUM! McM's sell other social entertainment items at their shops, also (like this cast iron bottle, opener looking for ideal placement in my apartment for Halloween). The employees at all locations are always friendly and helpful but never "in-your-face" with their sales, efforts and this apothecary of drinkable delights is no, exception. So, take a trip to this Bottleshop on 23rd and get yourself something new and delicious because you will be happy you did!

Yelp
Fun place to visit to look at the booze as well as to try some beers on the tap. Create your own flights! Most are around $2 for a 4oz cup.
google avatar

Jack G.

Yelp
Excellent selection of great beers. They offer mix and match flights of every beer on tap. Friendly and attentive service.

Yelp
This is my new favorite local haunt. I mainly drink sours and usually have trouble finding a good selection at most bars ( with notable exceptions). However, the Bottleshop has not only one or two on draft but a really great selection of sours from around the world. If you do t want a draft beer, you can pick one of the bottles/cans in the fridge, for a one dollar charge ( or of course take it home and drink it there). They also have a great selection of beer on the shelves, from porters and stouts to goses and saisons, in addition to wine, champagne, and spirits. While the bottle shop doesn't have the esoteric design of other Mcmemnamins properties, the beer selection and friendly, knowledgable staff make this location by far my favorite. Highly recommend this place, especially if you like sours, porters/stouts, and unique beers.
google avatar

Bong J.

Yelp
Good place to grab beers. They have good selections and I found almost what I came here for. Parking maybe an issue. So I would call in for what you're searching for to save alot of time.
google avatar

Jenelle B.

Yelp
If you're looking for good happy hour, this is the spot. They also have great deals throughout the week and special free tastings on random days. Great place to go if you want to work on your laptop but have a good beer, cider, or whatever other alcohol they sell in their shop. They have a good number of tables inside and hello, they allow dogs. One con is the bathroom is in their sister restaurant a walks away but that doesn't really bother a lot of people. I love that they also serve bar food here. Get the Cajun tots. So good!!! If you're also looking for a place to have game night, come on in. They have a bunch of games in the corner you can borrow.

Yelp
Best service and best selection I had tons of questions and they are patient and helpful I def recommend this place !

Yelp
Lee was beyond helpful. She was an expert and aficionado with a warm and vibrant personality. Her passion for the products sold in the shop led me to some incredible brands i've never tried before. I wish I could give 10 stars to this wonderful shop. It's truly a hidden gem with everything from beers to ciders to drinking vinegars to the coolest merch I've ever seen in a bottle shop. I spent so much money but it's all worth it
google avatar

Yelp
This place is OK. Nice laid back vibe and cool people. Amazing selection of bartending stuff. Prices are moderate. It's dog friendly. Had a chardonnay and it was good. Check it out.
google avatar

Yelp
Cool spot on 23rd to buy some beers or sit and have a drink. They had a great selection on tap, reasonable prices, and friendly amd knowledgeable staff. They also sell Mcmenamins merchandise and beers as well.
google avatar

Cresten S.

Yelp
Love this place! Great drink specials, relaxing outdoor seating, is almost NEVER crowded, friendly and knowledgable staff. Awesome place to have a beer and read a book!
google avatar

Peter K.

Yelp
It's always nice to come across the store where the people know what they're talking about, and are friendly and seem to go out of their way to be helpful. Lee was absolutely wonderful. Answered our questions about local breweries on this in the direction of some shops that she knew that were great, and really knows her beer. What a great place store store house on impressive selection, and A fun selection of novelty knickknacks, and bar type food, salsas etc. This place is worth the trip. We walked here from the south west part of Portland, so I can't tell you what parking would be like but it's not far from the freeway. Thanks again to Lee for your expertise and friendliness
google avatar

Audrey D.

Yelp
Boooo, they no longer allow dogs as of Jan 1, 2019. Welp, it was a nice run while it lasted. I used to love coming here and having a beer with my doggo, but unfortunately now I have no reason to come here...
google avatar

Alison J.

Yelp
I was in town for a quick trip, and stopped in to check out the selection based on the reviews. What a cool place! I enjoyed checking out the cool barware, glasses, snacks, etc. I found a local wine that I almost never see out and about, and the super helpful guy behind the counter helped me navigate the beer selections. I'll definitely return when I'm in town.

Yelp
We love the Bottle shop.. it's a place to get happy hour, cool bar stuff, cider, wine and beer
google avatar

Yelp
Great little bottle shop hidden away in deep-ish NW. I don't travel to this area often, but when I do, this is a great place to sit and have a drink or grab some bottles to go. Selection is generally really good, and unique. Prices are awesome, especially to open the bottle to drink on site. Only real down side is the whole no bathroom thing. You have to leave and go next door. That's not a huge deal, except for that whole Portland rain thing.
google avatar

Olivia O.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and location down on NW 23rd street. Great selection of beers from all around.
google avatar

Deb S.

Yelp
We really enjoyed The Bottle Shop here in Portland. Such a huge selection of beers and ciders - I seriously could NOT make a decision about which cider I wanted. But... with a little help from the bar-tender we made a match, and it was delicious. Cozy, un-pretentious, and easy to visit here for a bit. But be forewarned - no bathrooms inside. And if it's raining and you have to go around to the restaurant, that's a pain. Otherwise - fun times.

Yelp
I was quite impressed with the new McMenamins Bottle Shop when I visited New Years weekend. I wasn't sure if this was going to be 90% focused on McMenamins gear and beer and was pleasantly surprised by their bottle selection. Yes, they certainly highlight the McMenamins brand. You'll find a few shelves loaded with all the McMenamins knick-knacks and branded liquor. They have about 12-ish coolers of bottles, organized by style. It's certainly not the same as say Belmont Station or John's Marketplace, but definitely one of the better selections in the NW area which was lacking something like this. They also serve beer on tap with a variety of guest taps. They do various events as well, primarily to highlight the latest McMenamins beer, but still cool since it's usually their better, more sophisticated beers. Looking forward to stopping in here more often.

Chris W.

Yelp
I really liked this pub! It has a good vibe, friendly staff, tasty gyro and good cocktails. You can play pool as well
google avatar

Danny B.

Yelp
Pleased to have found some pure project beer here (which I never thought I'd see out of SoCal)! This place has an excellent selection of beers and super helpful staff! I will most definitely be back next time I'm in Portland!
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
Came to check out this new addition to the McMenamin's family and enjoy a champaigne tasting. There are LOTS of bottle to choose from - beer, wine and spirtits, and not only the McMenamin's brand. There is also a bar where you can order cocktails, beer or wine. This corner shop is a cozy little stop to sit and enjoy a drink. Relax, peruse the selection of libations and check out the merchandise. Gifts, t-shirts, lots of fun stuff. Oh yeah - run next door to Tavern and Pool for the bathroom.
google avatar

Yelp
Extremely welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable staff! Wide assortment of beers and spirits, as well as some awesome branded merchandise! If you are looking for a great gift for someone or just need something for your home bar, McMenamins 23rd Avenue Bottle Shop is your one stop shop! *MUST TRY* Lord Snow Imperial Stout(Edgefield Brewery) Kris Kringle(Edgefield Brewery) Cherry Sourced Oak Stout(CPR Brewery) Black Rabbit espresso

Yelp
Really awesome and cool bottle shop in Portland. Very good service and selection of craft beers a lot of which I've had never heard of!! They even have a bar with some taps and a food menu as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful!!!

Yelp
I was staying in the Holiday Inn Express nearby and decided to check this place out after a walk on 23rd. For those of you unfamiliar with the area, 23rd Avenue has a TON of restaurants, stores, bars, etc. I am a huge craft beer fan, so I knew I had to check this place out. I was really surprised with how large the shop is. They have a ton of beer, but also a ton of local wine, local liquors and gifts made from local artists. You could find something for everyone here. I couldn't believe the selection of gifts they had. They had plenty of beer that was chilled and a ton of room temp. options as well. I went with a can from Fremont Brewery to pick home to Pittsburgh, as well as a bottle of Peche n Brett from Logsdon Farmhouse Ales. I wasn't sure about the Logsdon beer, but there was a sign indicating that they only sold one per person which intrigued me. I asked the staff about it and they were super helpful and informed me of how delicious it was. They sold me on it easily. If I stay in this neighborhood in Portland again, I will surely be back to this bottle shop!
google avatar

Crystal P.

Yelp
Nice place with good food! When you walk in it has a very old school feel, jazz playing and cool paintings everywhere. They also have pool tables and shuffle board...cool place to hang and eat here in Portland! This is my first visit here to Oregon and they definitely made it a great stay!
google avatar

Doug R.

Yelp
So another trip to Portland, one of the cool things about Portland is the abundance of good food and beers! Decided on McMenamins for dinner and was not disappointed with Jackie's recommendation of the Portland Dip! A fantastic grilled turkey with mushrooms sandwich served with tater tots and a side of their specialty au jus dipping sauce. Food and service were both top notch. No wonder it's a local favorite! See ya next time.
google avatar

Larry H.

Yelp
What an amazing place. As a visitor from San Diego, and no stranger to good beer, this place was perfect as an introduction to PNW beers. An excellent selection. Friendly helpful staff, and taps! I was able to select some great beers, drink some special stuff on tap, and just enjoy the relaxing ambiance. When I return to Portland, I will be back!
google avatar

Rob W.

Yelp
Great selection of local beers as well as many other domestic and imports. They have beer on tap, and offer smaller 3 oz sample sizes if you're looking to try some new beers or ciders. They also have a lot of beer and wine related items to buy, if you're looking to stock up on anything or do a little shopping. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable, so if you're not a beer snob and want to learn it seems they would be more than helpful to you.
google avatar

Cole A.

Yelp
Love this place. Dog friendly. Great beers on tap all the time. The bartenders are very friendly and knowledgeable. Def a fan fav of mine. (Make a wish dream- just waiting for them to get Pliny The Elder on tap. Ha!)
google avatar

Patrick B.

Yelp
Nice corner store. Very knowledgable staff. Nice decore. Eclectic bottle shop. Bar and 24 taps. Parking may be a problem, all pay parking slots, $3.20 for two hours. Kind of cozy. Lots of local folks, millenials.
google avatar

Rusty S.

Yelp
Awesome selection of craft brews, imports, liquor, wine, alcohol paraphernalia, and various McMenamins dry goods. Plus, they have a seating area, beers on tap, and a great staff! We're doing the McMenamins passport quest (along with 3/4ths of everyone else we saw at each McMenamins establishment, it seems like), and this one was right next to Tavern and Pool so we decided to stop in and check it out. Turns out that the 23rd Ave. Bottle Shop is now one of the *required* stamps for passport completion (under 'New Properties'), but it's totally worth stopping in to have a look anyway. Great place for out of towners to stock up before heading home, too!
google avatar

Gill S.

Yelp
If you want beer in a bottle, a can, or on draft, they can do it. The friendly and knowledgeable staff know their beers and nerd out every chance they get about what they like and what is trending. They have lots of good local beer, as well as some out of town stuff. If you need to buy craft beer, this is the place to be.
google avatar

Cormac B.

Yelp
Great tap selection, super nice people working there, and lots of good bottle options. Great atmosphere for a post-work pint.
google avatar

Gary A.

Yelp
We went there purely to get the passport stamp. I was not expecting much... and boy was I wrong! OK, I love geeky beer stuff and this place has it all. Lots of shirts (including for different McMenamin's beers and bars), bottle openers, pint glasses, etc. to choose from. They also have a lot of great bottled beer to choose from. A great place to go by and pick up a bottle or two. The person who picks out the beers has good taste. Everything was high quality, including some beers that are hard to find elsewhere. They have a handful of McMenamin's beers on tap, too, so you can fill a growler or have a pint at the bar. The two guys working that day were super friendly and helpful. Five stars all around!
google avatar

Rebecca M.

Yelp
This place was transformed posthaste from a dingy old corner store with thick dust lying over haphazard shelving into this magical wonderful alcohol den. McMenamins locations usually don't thrill me - they've become so ubiquitously blah - but after enjoying a couple of beers on tap while eating delicious chocolate cake (not included) in this cozy little spot, I can say that I'm definitely a fan of this location. The corner of Thurman and 23rd is pretty busy and weirdly institutional on the north side of the street, but the 23rd side seating feels adequately secluded and shaded. There are a handful of high tables inside, so not a place to bring your 21st birthday sorority gang for any extended period of time. This spot is better suited for groups of 2-4, max. Most of the bottles have prices (every so often one won't be marked). From what I've seen so far, there is a very nice selection that runs the gamut from broke undergrad booze to pricey bottles of I'm-Trying-To-Appear-Fancy-Did-It-Work?!? Plus lots of McMenamins liquors as well. In addition, there's a great deal of options for host/hostess gifts and oops-I-forgot-your-birthday gifts to be found in the center of the store (fancy chocolates, etc.) Staff is super friendly!
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Very cool place I happened to stumble into. Unique and high quality items from beer to glassware to leather passport covers. Friendly staff and the real deal. Check this place out.
google avatar

Gabrielle S.

Yelp
Great to have a bottle shop in the neighborhood but McMenamins bottle shop is not up to par with the Beermongers and Belmont stations of the world. Limited, average selection (mirror pond? Really?). 4 rotating non McMenamins taps. As for the actual space- it's oddly laid out, carpeted, loud music, and the bathroom is in the (unattached) McMenamins pub next door. Nice try, Mcmennys
google avatar

Ron R.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this store on accident after I typed in "liquor stores" in Google Maps in a neighborhood I am not familiar with. I was in search for a liquor store with a selection of cheaper big-label commercial spirits. Upon walking in It quickly became obvious that this was not that kind of store but it was a pleasant surprise none the less. The McMenamin's name should have been a clue that this was a bit more interesting than your average shop. This shop has a lot of great hand crafted small label spirits and a vast selection of beer. They have beer on tap and a healthy selection of coasters, mugs, glasses and other bar-ware. I found a set of really cool and unique shot glasses that I had to buy. Check this place out if you are nearby or looking for some higher-end spirits or beer. If you are looking for a $10-$20 bottle you will want to head to a traditional Liquor Store.
google avatar

Alexis V.

Yelp
If you love beer, and good beer, come here! You can take apart the six packs in the fridges and just get single cans for $2-$4 per beer which is so cheap and I save so much money coming here and I usually drink double the amount haha. I feel like they careful procure their beer selection since everything they have in each section and type is amazing and usually pretty solid. They do serve food from the mcmenamins next door, you have a view of outside. I usually sit at the bar and the staff is super helpful with choices and will let you know what's good and what's new on tap. They also obviously serve their own mcmenamins liquor and beer but one of the only mcmenamins I've been to that has other options and they're all mostly local breweries. Always a go to spot. While most of their beers on draft are mcmenamins they always have some really solid choices from local and surrounding breweries that are always worth a try! It's in Slabtown so you can't go wrong if you wanna hop around with friends either. Good starting point for the night with friends as well!

Yelp
Great bottle shop for craft beer and some select wines. They fill growlers and have a counter if you would rather enjoy a pint there. Most beers are around $5 and they even do happy hour! Most of there wine and spirits are from their McMenamins brand, with lots of McMenamins T-shirts, growlers and other merch for sale. There are no restrooms, so you have to go next door at the Tavern and Pool McMenamins. Another neat addition to the McMenamin's family.

Yelp
800 brews and ciders. And any imbibing appurtenances you might need. Lots of great stocking stuffers for your friends and family that love a good brew. A word of warning; not everything is alcoholic. We bought some speciality root beer; and didn't look closely until we got home. Non-alcoholic. Don't get me wrong; nothing wrong with that. It's just that for what we paid, we thought we were getting an adult root beer.
