Hailey, our incredible server, was amazing, knowledgeable, patient, and delightful company! If you get the chance to interact with her, consider yourself a lucky duck. My partner and I each had a different flight and ended up going home with two tasty bottles. I can't wait to come back!!

Edgefield is probably McMenamins biggest properties. It has a distillery, winery and brewery onsite. The food is pretty good at the various restuarants on property. Its mostly burgers/sandwhiches but done well. They also a small golf course, soaking pools, movie theater and pool hall. All of the alcohol is made onsite and has an extra element of locally produced to it. I recommend getting your McMenamins passport and taking advantage of the perks.

What a fun place to stay and explore! The events are hit and miss but the entire property is amazing. Stayed here this weekend for the Syrah celebration and everything was well planned and organized. The dinner was great but keep in mind it’s prefix and they don’t offer alternative options. I was expecting the grand tasting to be overly crowded but it was very spacious and there were little to no lines. I would do this event again! Went here for a Halloween event and the bar was completely understaffed it took 30-40 minutes to wait in line for a drink. The band was also outdated and refused to make requests. There are so many activities to try on the priory and a variety of food and drink options. In addition the soaking pool is amazing! You won’t go wrong booking a night here.

I visited Edgefield for the Crackedpots Reuse Art Show. It was fun! And on this hot day it was great that the booths were mostly underneath some beautiful trees :) There were a lot of different and unique items. The atmosphere was relaxed and the people were friendly!

The pinot and the Lavender cider are excellent. This is truly a hidden gem. Highly recommend stopping by.

Please be careful. This location is no joke… do some research about the edge field location before visiting, if you choose to spend the night bring sage and cleanse yourself, and your area. If you have the misfortune of being in the room I did with the painted faces on the ceiling don’t look them in the eyes. I was a kid and my mom had my wedding here.. All spiritually sensitive souls steer clear. Guidance gifts, portals, seers, and the unspoken survivors, if you come here then only come here with the intent to work, if you come here for fun, then come protected. I can’t even place the energy.. I can’t even tell you what followed me back from there. All I know is what it did to me and my family. This isn’t no warrens the conjuring stuff.. this is a bridge between the darkness of life and the absence of soul.. great food tho? Ghost hunters, don’t be dumb. This isn’t your kitschy venue. Spiritualists, my brothers and sisters, it took me half my life to purify my energy from the dark sticky consumption that feeds off these grounds, I don’t know what else I can say..

Really fun, relaxing place to walk around, enjoy a meal or just to have a drink or two. Edgefield features a hotel, spa with soaking pool, several restaurants and bars. It's a hotel with several acres of gardens and even a small golf course. Our most recent trip we saw humming birds and even a red tailed hawk on the grounds.

This is a must visit while in Portland absolutely remarkable grounds amazing golf course and unbeatable beers and spirits. Make sure you take a look at the wine list. One of the best in the Portland Metro. Walla Walla wine all the way.

Yelp
A cozy stop in the McMenamins basement. You are right in the action of the winery - which I found to be cool. The tables are situated between both sides of the working winery. I was there after hours of when they were working, but I imagine it would be cool to come earlier in the day and see wine being made right in front of you! All the tables line windows with a full view into the production areas. There are wine tastings, beer tastings and cider tastings. There was plenty of seating when I came on a weekday evening. I did the white flight which featured four different varieties of white wine. I got the charcuterie and a flight and it was a great girl dinner! The charcuterie was very fairly priced and a huge portion. While I didn't get it enjoy it as I didn't have a huge amount of time, I saw them setting up for live music, I would love to come back again to hear the live music.

Yelp
we came at a perfect time that we did not encounter a rush. The server was patient with our large party. Seating was challenging and not good for more than 2-3 people. You can get wine in plastic cups and sit elsewhere on the property, but that honestly takes away from the experience, so plan accordingly.

Yelp
Appending my original review, as my wife and I came back to Edgefield this last weekend, and were able to score one of the tables down below, to enjoy our ciders. We'd come back to finish off our passport pages for Edgefield (two full pages!), stopping for a drink at Jerry's Ice Bar before wandering the grounds, enjoying the warm ambient lighting, each other's company, and the privilege of being able to mingle in public again. All of the other bars had lengthy wait times for their limited capacity, but somehow the winery bar flew under the radar. After a short wait for our drinks behind four other groups, we grabbed our pints and snagged a table in the hallway. The server, the same one as before, whom previously I had reported to be "all business" and a little curt, was on top of things the whole time, knocking out drinks for four parties of three or more in a few minutes. She was also able to help resolve an issue with one of our passport entries, so big thumbs up from us! She also managed all of this with grace, poise and professionalism. She's still "all business", but she gets the job done, and I definitely appreciate that. I need to catch her name next time. I think I covered just about everything else in my previous review, so I will end by saying that McMenamins continues to provide top quality service, enchanting venues, solid food, a bevy of beverages, and a place to escape the drudgery of quarantine and self-containment, even in the midst of the pandemic. They have been proactive in taking steps to ensure the safety of their customers, the preservation of their business and the financial stability of their employees, and it has been a blessing for everyone in these difficult times. Big kudos to them for that!

Yelp
Great service and amazing wine and food! The atmosphere is relaxing and beautiful. Get the flight of reds, you won't be disappointed!

Jessie P.

Yelp
The prices on their flights are great: $8 per tasting (white, red, or fortified) and you get 6 tastes. Add bubbles to any flight for $2 more. Fee is waived if you buy a bottle. We love seeing our fave sommelier, Julie, who always takes great care of us. Edgefield, your wines are pretty good, and have been getting better and better. But! You've gotta do something about your service area. Make the bar circular so that more folks can belly up to the bar and you can fit two sommeliers back there. It's always a hassle to find a spot to land in there, since it's always crowded on the weekends. Or: have a second sommelier who roams the tables to pour, or a second satellite bar? Something.

Yelp
What a cool tour. Cliff, who said he didn't regularly do the tours, gave our group the Winery tour. It was SO cool. Granted I REALLY like wine, but he was engaging, kind, well spoken and he really shared some cool information. I've been to many vineyards and never been so engaged or impressed on a tour. I'm not sure who usually does it but our whole your group commended him on how good he was. Definitely take the tour and try lots of wines!! I LOVE the sparkling wine. It's delicious. And it was a great experience all around.

Anita K.

Yelp
The food and drinks were amazing at the Black Rabbit and the wine was really good at the winery. They have wine from other local wineries and their own wine. I went there for my birthday and had a good time. I want to go back again and explore more.

Caleb L.

Yelp
Very awesome place I all sorts of stuff to do and go. The food is pretty good. But it depends on what you order. Example I got the roast beef sandwich and the flavor was good but the meat was dry and chewy. But on the hand the hummus plate I got was great here are the pics.

Rick I.

Yelp
Mcmenamins wine bar is amazing! You can go one wine tour...for free...on Friday's. They also have live music on various nights of the week. They have a delicious assortment of both white and red wines...just take your pick. You can do either a wine tasting or ask for a bottle of your favorite. The baristas are extremely personable and friendly. Great visit!

Yelp
This is on the Edgefield property and it's SO cute and cozy. We came Xmas Eve and it was pretty empty, just the wine guy here. It's like a cellar, flanked by a bar to the immediate left when you walk in and if you make a right, you can follow a pretty long way down the hall with plenty of seats to hang out and enjoy your wine. I found prices extremely reasonable, a tasting is usually around $10 but most basic has SEVEN wines which is insane to me (Napa would be like 4 tastes for $25). I tried the famous Black Rabbit but settled on the cuvee per the sommelier's recommendation and got a bottle. Came back for a tasting of the dessert wines and he waived it since they normally comp the tasting if you get a bottle. Wine bottle prices I thought were also reasonable. The space is dark lit with plenty of seating and good view of the wine cellar with metal and oak barrels and on a cold winter day after walking around the property it was a perfect spot to take a boozy break. Would highly recommend stopping by, it's quaint-adorable!

Wayne L.

Yelp
Good way to spend some time if you're in the area. They have several tasting flight options (cider, wine and port). If you buy wine they waive the tasting fee. They also have live music in the evening, check the schedule. Lots of comfortable seating. Kids can come in with you until early evening.

Rachel M.

Yelp
Great deal for great wine flights, especially if you end of buying a bottle at the end of your tasting. It's $20 to sample 7 wines (3 white, 4 reds) and if you buy a bottle at the end of your tasting, I *think* (memory failing; too much wine at the time) the flight is free... or discounted? I can't fully remember, but I remember thinking "What a great deal!" for whatever happened... Anyways, I had a great time, drank a lot of great wine and really enjoyed the cozy and relaxing atmosphere in the tasting room. Great place to spend the afternoon with old friends or making new ones!

Andrea P.

Yelp
If you are spending time at Edgefield, you need to go to the winery and do a flight tasting. If your not into wine, they have ciders on tap, and a beer or two as well. I think for $7 bucks you can get a white or red flight, about 5 wines. A pretty darn good deal. There is live music sometimes and a very comfy, laid back feel to the place.

Jasneelam K.

Yelp
This winery was a nice place for some wine tasting. They had a few flight options and a few good options. I chose the Red Shed Flight and I enjoyed it. We got the hummus as an appetizer and it was really good. It came with some olives, cheese and veggies.

Deb P.

Yelp
We love all of the bars at Edgefield, including this cozy wine bar. Take a stand (or limited seat) at the bar for a tasting, or grab some chairs in the back area. This is a place to stay and sip awhile. Tastings were $8 per flight, with several different flights available. We had a red and white flight. Faves included the Reisling ($16) and the White Rabbit ($19), which surprised us as we are not usually fans of white. We bought several bottles for daily sipping or what we call table wine. Live music several nights per week. The barkeep was not friendly. In all the tastings I have been to (a lot) at other wineries, this is the only one where no information was given about the wine, except the terroir. He was not welcoming or approachable. While we love to drink wine, we also like to talk about it and learn. There was also a really big bowl of small crackers on the bar---as in, who knows how many hands have been in the bowl and where have the hands been. Yuck. No food offered, other than the crackers. We're in the neighborhood though, so none of those things will stop us from going back.

Yelp
Ah McMenamin bros'.. have to love these folks.. they kind of started the whole thing.. they are on to the sustainable/recyclable/reusable by taking old places/haunts and adding a little sparkle, a little charm, a little paint. They also got the whole local brewery going big time from way back when. They did good here at Edgefield, and this location deserved it. The history is magical and with purpose. They clean up places with awesome artistry. They are working those grapes, growing them out there on their property, just like they work the hops (which they do just fine by the way). Wine takes lots of time.. I bet eventually they will totally pull it off. In the meantime, love the funky space they have here for wine tasting.. you do feel like you are in the belly of it all. I keep coming back because I know, sooner or later, they will have some fine wine.

Mark B.

Yelp
I just took the tour. For the second time. It wasn't that it was so fascinating the first time but rather I was there for my stamp (McMenamins Passport) so why not get the experience stamp to?'' I am glad I did, the first time was good, the guy knew a lot about the basics, the big picture process, This time the women seemed to just know a lot more, about how pears have a sugar that doesn't turn to alcohol, how to pair wine with your food.... Did your know they keg the more popular wines for use at the bars? The tour lasted longer but it is fun listening to people geek out on what they obviously love. I have been here in the evenings when they usually have live acoustic music. They always serve wine or you can pick up a bottle of wine (or as I learned on the tour a keg of cider for your next event)! Tip: the tour is free at 3 o'clock daily. Tip 2: Call ahead if you can. They process the grapes outside (usually in August and September) and have a truck that comes a few times a year to bottle the wines. Different times of year for different varieties it parks outside and you can watch the show.

Yelp
This is a cute little winery in the basement of the Edgefield Hotel. You take the ramp below and you discover there is a small bar and a few tables that you can sit at. The tasting is done at the bar. We appeared there on a Friday night around 4:30pm and it was is full swing. We had to wait to find a place at the bar in order to be able to taste. I did the classic flight which was only three dollars and they were afraid to pour you a decent amount of wine of each of those, which I thought was great. We ended up buying four bottles of wine and it was definitely worth the trip. Tasty wine nothing over the top but very good nonetheless. It's always a stop when we are out staying at the Edgefield. The bartender's shift change was at 5pm, they seemed to do that effortlessly even though they had a new computer program to deal with and there were in the process of new software learning curve. Good times. Good wine. I'll be back again.

Tommy N.

Yelp
Terrible service Anna G was so rude and didnt let us bring the wine we just bought on property for our anniversary. The food was burned ! Are server was super rude and was the worst experience ever!!

Sara S.

Yelp
Amazing experience. Why this place does not have 5 stars I do not know! Perfect service, amazing pours and really cool atmosphere. I would probably basically live there if I wasn't from out of town. Go here! You won't be disappointed.

Dy V.

Yelp
Great vibe, unpretentious, fun, wine was fine, easy. Restaurants adjacent with decent food and good service.. What's not to like? Cant wait to go back with more friends.

Cecily B.

Yelp
The wine selection here blew my mind. I had no idea when stood at the wine bar asking for a tasting that the flavors would change my "wine" life. I was expecting mid-tear...NOPE...everything I tasted was good and some even amazing. The tasting prices are very honorable and the pours are generous. There is live music every night. Great ambiance, including viewing windows of all of the casks and vats of wine! the only thing that keeps it from a 5 star is the lay out of the room. not enough seating for how crowded it can get.

Christina M.

Yelp
Yup cool. As expected!! We came here on our last day in Portland - and pretty much down to our last minute. Our check-out time from our hotel was at 11am, so we took our luggage and started searching the grounds for a place to chill and wait for our ride. The winery wasn't open until 12, so we sat and watched the glass blower for an hour (which was REALLY interesting!) - and then at 12:01, we were entering the winery. There was already a bartender behind the bar - and even though we showed up pretty much the minute he opened, he was SO nice about it. Didn't seem bothered at all, and started setting us up for our tasters. It was a really good deal, and we shared a taster which was $6 for about 6 tasters. The bartender was really, really funny. We talked about him even after we left. He apparently has worked there quite a while, and had some great stories about McMenamins and the brothers who own it. These personal stories really add a nice touch to newcomers like ourselves. Our ride showed up, and they, also ordered a taster sampler. We all chatted up the bartender and now it really did seem like a party. There is a huge glass window right next to the bar, behind which are these rather large stainless-steel vats. There was a guy on a ladder doing something inside one of them. My beer-making knowledge is relatively expansive, but I have no idea what he might have been doing. But it was interesting to watch for sure!!!!! :) We loved the buttery chardonnay the best, and one of our group bought it for something like $17. PLUS that made our flight free!! Bottom line: Very funny, nice, friendly bartender with personalized McMenamins anecdotes = Great time had by all.

Kari N.

Yelp
Awesome grounds, great events (free), and the fact there are plenty of options is really neat.

Paila C.

Yelp
Waited at least an hour and my burger was overcooked and bland!!! I'm very disappointed

Julio A.

Yelp
Always a good day for this place. The staff, beer, food, people, all good stuff!! AND a gorgeous day. Can't complain when you're at the Edgefield.

RM J.

Yelp
In Portland, Mcmenamins are everywhere, but I never thought to go to one until my family was in town. I'm not sure how I had underestimated it because I was immediately impressed with the staff, drink menu, wild decor, and random art collections. When my partner's father bought us Passports, there was no turning back; it was Mcmenamins every night and every weekend. That being said, you can imagine my surprise when Julie L at Edgefield's Winery welcomed my partner and I with the opening line of, "Oh you're passport people." At this point, we had at least 40 stamps and had never been given a second glance upon presenting our books. Portland is not particularly known for its service, but I had felt that Mcmenamins stood out as a shiny star in this department. No matter, we still wanted to try the highly recommended wine flight. Unfortunately, the attitude didn't stop there. Since I was driving, I asked how many ounces of wine were in each glass. Instead of answering my question, Julie L turned to my partner and asked, "Is she always like this?" We weren't the only ones there, but we did stand out as different with our short hair and tattoos. Was it that? I have had a number of wine flights and usually each one is explained to the drinker in the hope a bottle or case would be purchased. Here, the descriptions were short and skipped for a couple of glasses. Also, one whole glass of the flight was left out without explanation. It's a good thing I could read and had a list of wine and descriptions in front of me since clearly Julie wasn't interested in telling me about them. However, she was interested in talking to the couple to our right and the group to the left. It's a shame, because even though I look more like a whiskey drinker I love wine and would really have appreciated better service. The experience ended with us asking about purchasing wine and Julie saying, "I guess we have a new wine club, but I've never been trained in it of course." That's a shame, because you only ended up making $12 off of our two wine flights.

Alison L.

Yelp
Mark Alan is fantastic!! This is a such a cute winery with so much character. The tasting experience is one that cannot be skipped when visiting Edgefield!

Brook M.

Yelp
There wines are a little over priced for the quality, but the venue is fun and there often times is music. The wine flights are casual and affordable. Its a easy stop if your doing a walking tour of the many little bars they have there on the edgfield grounds. Ive heard they don't actually use the grapes that are grown on site for the wine, that they are just there for aesthetics. If thats true thats kind of un genuine?

Merlin S.

Yelp
Amazing wines. Beautiful setting. Even better customer service. After receiving less than adequate service at a couple wineries in the Willamette Valley, it was refreshing to be treated so well at Edgefield McMenamins

Krissy H.

Yelp
I love this place. It was the highlight of our two days there. This guy is the best bartender/employee of any kind that we encountered. Even though he got shoved in a flooding basement we still wanted to hang. The vibe is super chill. We got 2 of each of the wine tasters over 2 days. They were all awesome! Definitely get the dessert wines- those were delicious. I loved the white wine list too and the favorites, can't go wrong with the favorites! Everything was awesome, and I know its lame but I love the oyster crackers too haha nice touch! The one night there was live entertainment. And its so awesome to look behind you and just see how wine is made. There are couches and chairs to hangout and relax on. The place is just an amazing experience. And I love love loved being able to drink awesome wine while not being cooped up in some snooty place. The people who came in were all very different, some wealthier, some not and it was just great to all enjoy some conversation and talk about the wines we were drinking. Even though we are pretty tattooed and young, the older wealthier women next to us were having a great time with us, as we talked about all of our favorite glasses and had a few laughs! It's also awesome to grab a glass and just roam the gardens! All and all a great night.

Linda F.

Yelp
I just spent a few hours at the Edgefield winery. I tried the reds flight and the wines weren't spectacular by any means, but very drinkable. The pourer was just fine (I'm a pourer too on occasion and she was totally acceptable, but not particularly knowledgeable...kinda like me ) She did have a great personality though and warmed up as the night went on and there were fewer people. She kept track of everyone's position in the flight...something I find difficult with a crowd! They had a nice range of varietals--great for comparing. I wish I'd studied the website prior to going, then I'd know the place is haunted as it's just below an old morgue. I would have paid more attention! When I was there they had live music in a corner tucked somewhere. You can't see them from the bar. I wouldn't make a special wine trip out there, but if you're out that way (I had been hiking at Eagle Creek), stop in for dinner and a wine tasting. Although, if you're like me, you'll be walking up the stairs and checking in to the hotel after tasting! One more thing...the tasting was quite reasonably priced. I think it was $8 for 6 wines (might not be exactly right...like I said, I got a room after the flight + one more glass of wine! Uh ok, and the 2 beers before at the Black Rabbit Restaurant.)

Suzanne M.

Yelp
This place is beyond reasonably priced. We were on our way headed home from the waterfalls when we decided we wanted to stop at a winery. As said before, this place is in the basement. It seems that there are a bunch of regulars who come by. There are four flights to choose from, and the most expensive one might be six dollars. And there are generous pours of at least four wines. We did the $3 flight where we tasted six wines. My favourite was the riesling. If I had to do it again, I'd try to white flight. Wine pourers friendly and they keep track of your flight with ease.
