"This classic Irish pub, founded by a former Navy SEAL and pillar of the local Naval Base Coronado, is where the Navy elite, regulars, and tourists can take in live music and cold beers. Multiple variations on the black and tan can be sipped alongside traditional cocktails and pub bites like fish and chips." - Kelly Bone

Google
Food was excellent!! Service was even better!! For apps we had the pub crusties and onion rings both were delicious definitely recommend!! For entres it was the shepherds pie and Reuben. We told them we were sharing the shepherds pie and they split it so cutely and it was delicious. Reuben sandwich also bomb. Thanks for a great experience!!!

Google
The atmosphere is awesome! Outdoor patio dining with live band. Able to watch the football games. We have been here several times. My favorite is the fish n chips. The wife loves the Ruben sandwich.! Pet friendly! We love taking our dog here because they have benches along the wall that he can sit down and relax.

Google
Great place to have a casual hang. Good vibe, lots of food options and the patio is fantastic. Fish & Chips was a bit overcooked, but it didn't ruin the flavor. I'd order it again, for sure. Big filets and fresh chips. Good, cold beer and overall good pub!

Google
Great venue for hanging out on the patio. The staff was super nice and welcoming. I enjoyed my nachos and they have great brews in tap. Solid spot to hangout at.

Google
Unfortunately, the Reuben sandwich was soaked in butter and under grilled, (see pic). Not the first time it has been served to me like this, but it is the last time. The new chair outside are a big improvement.

McP’s Irish Pub delivers a great experience for anyone looking for good food, drinks, and a lively atmosphere. The pub has a cozy yet upbeat vibe, with friendly staff and live music that really brings the place to life. The menu is a nice mix of traditional Irish dishes and pub favorites. The shepherd’s pie was flavorful and satisfying. Their beer selection is average, with a few Irish classics and local options to choose from. The only downside is that the place can get very crowded, especially on weekends, which sometimes slows down service. However, the staff is attentive and does their best to keep up with the hustle and bustle. Overall, McP’s is a solid spot for a night out or a casual meal. It’s a place I’d recommend to friends and plan to visit again soon!

Google
McP’s Irish Pub in Coronado is such a great spot! The atmosphere is cozy and lively. Their Irish coffee is hands down the best I’ve had. The live music adds such a fun energy, and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. Whether you’re stopping by for a drink, a meal, or just to enjoy the atmosphere, you can tell this place has a lot of heart. Our team at Peraza Real Estate is always on the lookout for great local spots, and McP’s is one we’ll be recommending to clients and friends for sure. If you’re in Coronado, definitely check it out

Google
Went with my son who's in the Pacific Fleet. What a beautiful lunch on the patio! Food was delicious. We got a Reuben with fries and onion ring appetizer. The place was packed, but we were seated quickly, friendly hostess and waitress. We went to get the T-shirt (5⭐️). Bonus got to see some Seals and thank them for their service.

Yelp
Just had the best experience here. It was my birthday, and the only reason I drove the 40 minutes to have dinner here was -- I wanted to watch the football game and smoke a cigar after dinner. They have a great patio for that, where you're allowed to smoke (and bring your dogs, although I don't have a mutt at the moment). I was worried they wouldn't turn it on with all the Padres action, but they turned a TV on for me. Loved the two fire pits. Loved our waitress Mallorey, who was excellent (and even brought me a piece of pie for my bday). My wife loved her fish & chips and Guinness. I loved my Rueben on rye and wine. A great time was had by all.

Yelp
Bigger than I expected. There's a small inside with a few high top seats, low tables and bar seating. And outside on the patio there's seating for what seems like 80 people. Tables spread all around and TVs in several spaces. There are also heaters to keep you warm. Came here for a drink and the menu felt a little limited with a handful of cocktails available and small draft menu. The food menu was pretty expansive. It's typical bar food. Nothing really stood out. But you'll have a lot of options if you are hungry or peckish. We came on Day of Mourning / Thanksgiving and it was still pretty packed. It was around 7pm. They must've been down on servers because service was pretty slow. The patio is much more livelier than inside and the fresh air is better than whatever was going on inside (it smelt a bit musty inside). Other than the diviness of the place and the few beer mixture that they had, it's hard to see how it resembled an Irish pub.

Marc M.

Yelp
Very underwhelming. Had fish and chips which were ok. $20ish for 2 pieces. As expected very busy on Black Friday night. The tables were dirty and staff did not much seem to care.

Kristin Leigh M.

Yelp
There's nothing Irish about McP's except the Guinness they have on tap. I made an assumption that it would be more Irish than American.. whoops. Had I properly looked at the menu, I would learn that wasn't the case. The positives: - Ample outdoor seating! - There can be live music, at times. - Guinness on tap. What could be better: - People smoking cigars at the table next to me! Bleh! I want to enjoy my food.. not your stinky cigar. - Service was... slow. Not sure if the server had too many tables/was spending time with her larger parties/didn't like the fact we weren't ordering more than one drink... but it was slower than I'd like (namely in terms of asking for water/getting a refill on water, getting the cheque, etc.). - Food was mediocre. If you want a large portion, dine here. If you're not bothered about stellar food, dine here. It was just OK. Not bad. Not particulary fantastic. But maybe people don't come here for the food, necessarily. I might pop in for a drink.. but not sure I'd eat here again. 2024: 47/100

Yelp
great irish bar. great ambiance and friendly staff. a good pint of guinness. would reccomend

Bob V.

Yelp
Had a great veggie burger with cheese here - it was served with a delish aioli and the fries were fantastic. Service was good. Typical pub feels inside, brought back memories of the gastropubs we enjoyed while visiting Ireland a few years back.

Rob M.

Yelp
Hopped off the Old Town Trolley here to grab a quick drink and appetizer on our second day on our San Diego Trip. Awesome service, quality drinks, and great atmosphere. Our nachos grande were perfect for the three of us to share. Standard Irish pub offerings on the menu both in terms of food and drinks. Can't beat the perfectly poured black and tans. Highly recommended stop/visit if at Coronado.

Nikki V.

Yelp
Local pub owned by a Navy Seal as fun. Music, beer and food. Awesome environment and the waitress was on point! She was fun and had us laughing. Also tried a Navy Seal made tequila, Blow Fish! Wish we had it in Texas cause it would be our new tequila to drink. Wonderful with no after taste!

Allie J.

Yelp
Need to stop allowing old guys to smoke their cigars on the patio next to kids and regular people. The cigar-smoking man next to us said "there is no evidence behind second hand smoke" and his wife boasted about how many times she's survived cancer from smoking...pure cringe. Vibes could be great if they modernized.

Gwyn C.

Yelp
Wonderful way to enjoy a Saturday evening catching up with a friend! Indoors was live music while outdoors there was plenty of room for us to share the space with an older wedding party. Towards the middle of the evening we even cheered with the gang watching baseball! Had the bbq salad with sauce on the side. I was surprised at how good the chicken was! Much better than at some other places I've had it at. Sipped on a nice mixed drink that had just enough alcohol to lighten my mood! Ended with a nutty Irish coffee. My friend had the very berry salad which was fresh and light. I don't recall what she drank, think it may have been wine but it was good. We really enjoyed our evening here and would do it again, as long as we keep our feet up!

Joe N.

Yelp
5:55 pm Me: Can I get something for the happy hour? Server: it's only until 6pm Me: it's 5:56, can I order it now? Server: No (walks away) Server comes back after 6pm Me: What local beers do you have? Server: It's in the menu ... not coming back.

Lea D.

Yelp
This was the perfect place for a little work meeting to grab drinks. The place was decently large with seating inside and seating on the patio. We got a large table outside and had a few rounds of drinks. Our server was great as she juggled all of the outdoor tables. We had a few bar bites too (all delicious!) I definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for a good pub!

Michele C.

Yelp
Burgers were awesome! The fries were great- stayed crispy and hot to the bottom. Wait staff were hustling. Ours seemed initially intimidated- there were 30 of us- but she did great! The evening was chilly but the heaters outside did the trick.

Eric P.

Yelp
See my photo of the $15 chicken strips. It will explain everything. Somehow the ranch made them taste even worse than they look. I gave 2 stars for the band that was playing.

Spencer S.

Yelp
I've been here plenty of times for the limited night life opportunities on the island, but actually came here to eat during the day recently. Huge outdoor patio area. Small private parking lot and lots of 2 hr limit parking around. I parked several blocks away where there wasn't a time limit so we could enjoy our day without worrying. This place is a full service, sitdown restaurant. Casual atmosphere. Fast and friendly service! I wasn't too hungry, so just got a fish taco and sweet potato waffle fries. Both were great and generous quantities given they were "wee bites" I think they were called! Had a couple beers of course, too. Fairly priced.

James K.

Yelp
Been here many times over the years & always great service with food & drinks to match. Inside or outside you can't go wrong. Yes, prices are up (but where aren't they?) you're still getting your Irish fix & sometimes there's live music (which sometimes makes it hard to just drop in because it's usually packed)!

Pimlada I.

Yelp
The food is better than usual, which is good enough for me. I am very surprised. The service is attentive enough, and we got everything we need. The patio seating with a fireplace is awesome. They make good drinks.

Doug S.

Yelp
This is a lay back place in Coronado that has a selection of pub food and a good selection of beers including Smithwicks. Drew our server was attentive and made sure we were having a good time eating outdoors in the summer. Food is typical pub food; burgers, fries, fish and chips. Nothing stood out, but if we were in the area again we would stop by for some beers and the live music inside.

Cierra R.

Yelp
This bartenders were racist. They only help white people. I stood there for 20 minutes at the bar waiting to be helped and they kept skipping over me and only helped white men. The bartender yelled at me when I said something about it, so I left. 0 stars

Milani L.

Yelp
I enjoyed my dinner at McP's! My boyfriend and I decided to come here with our dogs (its a dog friendly restaurant) and enjoyed it all! They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the amount of outdoor seating is plentiful and has plenty of room so your pets can come along too! I do think though there will be moments where parking is a hit and miss depending on the time that you show up. We went on a Monday night and there was plenty of parking on the side streets and even in front. We got lucky and landed a spot in front of the bank right next to it. But if you come on a holiday or weekend I do think it could be a different story. Parking would most definitely be more of a challenge at those times. Now you can't expect it to be clean like some other restaurants in Coronado, cause its a Pub, not some fancy Italian restaurant. However, the staff does do a great job at making sure the place stays tidy. The staff as well are very friendly. I always felt like we were constantly being checked in on and they even checked and made sure that my dogs were okay. Also, they offer military discount! Food wise, my boyfriend and I had the pretzel sticks for an appetizer and we liked it a lot. The pretzel was super fresh and hot! Somewhat crispy and somewhat soft. The cheese dip that came with it was the perfect compliment. We also both had the fish and chips and that satisfied our cravings. The pieces of fish were huge! And I thought that the amount of breading was just right and didn't take away from the amount of fish that was there. The fries were also really good! We definitely will be back with our dogs! They offer pup patties so I might get that for my dog next time! But we left full and happy so we definitely will be back to try some more of their menu items later on!

Yelp
I have definitely been to Irish pubs with more charm and a better atmosphere and truly better food. There is not much appeal from the outside and the patio area was just okay. Our server was amazing though and very friendly and helpful. I love Irish pub food and have been to many so maybe I was a little disheartened by our experience but it is definitely a more casual and less pretentious place to hang out than most of Coronado.

Torie E.

Yelp
The trolley tour literally stops here and the bartender had no idea the times or availability or where to even find the information come on if this is the main stop in Coronado for the trolley this girl needs to be understanding and able to provide information as part of her job

Greg B.

Yelp
Great place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. Enjoyed the Rueben and even though they were busy the service was prompt and friendly. Rueben was cooked to perfection and it was served with plenty of French Fries. Did not stay long enough to really check out the band but it sure sounded like everyone was enjoying the ambiance and sporting the Green.

Wes H.

Yelp
Delicious. I've got nothing but good things to say about this place. I would recommend to anybody .

Danelle B.

Yelp
Still excellent after all these years! Busy day but showed up early. Reuben and onion rings are always a win. A must visit when visiting Coronado. Plus...the bathrooms are clean.

Sarah G.

Yelp
We come here all the time post dog beach for a beer, tuna melt, or pretzel! Great outdoor patio, and occasionally on the weekend you can catch a band ripping in the adjacent parking lot. They also have outdoor TVs in case you're trying to catch a Padres game. This spot will continue to be a regular go-to for us!

Kim W.

Yelp
McP's is the best bar/ pub type food in Coronado! Fun atmosphere, patio has live bands most nights & just a cool , chill place with delicious comfort food & some Irish dishes as well. The owner passed away but it's still worth a visit! RIP Greg, you are missed!

Charlotte B.

Yelp
What a great place to have lunch or dinner outside! The hostesses and servers are so polite and helpful! Drinks are great! We love their clam chowder! All sandwiches are wonderful, as well as fish & chips! The music, in the evening, is great!

Christopher B.

Yelp
Exellent food, service, and dinning experience. Wether you are dinning by yourself, with family, or friends I strongly suggest visiting this location. Thank you so much for thr great experience!

Tim M.

Yelp
The food isn't too bad here, your standard pub food more or less, nothing too exciting. The service was friendly, easy going. The ambiance was nice outside, not really loud. Though the dining area outside could have been cleaner. The real issue I have here is that they charge a 3% fee just for using a credit card, which is quite ridiculous for a restaurant that provides mediocre food that isn't memorable. Would I go out of my way to go here again? Na. Skip it, there's plenty of other great places around.

Adele M.

Yelp
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch in the patio. Our meal was delivered quickly. It was severed hot with all the extras we asked for. Service was good, water glasses filled regularly. We lingered longer than normal as we were going to the lambs player's theatre for a play. We were never rushed. It truly was a perfect afternoon and meal.

Tina L.

Yelp
Never been before. Took my husband for his birthday. Had a great time on the patio. He could smoke his cigar after we had a Reuben and fish and chips. Food was good. Guinness on tap. You can't beat that! Service was very attentive and quick. The crowd was enjoying the Padres in the playoffs- loads of fun.

Dennis M.

Yelp
Went on a Saturday for early dinner. Sat outside. Beautiful SD evening. Sat under the gas heater. Nice and warm. Service was good. Had the sliders. Nice pretzel buns in 3 tiny burgers. Good scene. Highly recommend when in Coronado.

Eily I.

Yelp
I think this may be one of the only dive bars in Coronado, if that's what you're looking for. Lots of TVs to watch the games. Service was great. Loved that they had Irish coffees on the menu since we were there for a World Cup game in the morning.

Pantea A.

Yelp
We were at Irish pub restaurant today the food was perfect and fresh ,we love the service, our server was Olivia she was so nice and was so caring about us and other customers.thank you Irish restaurant for your food and wonderful service

Laurie K.

Yelp
Love a good Irish pub... awesome Shepherds pie. A Guinness and try the local SEAL team tequila, Emerald Spear, for a shot or mix drink! We normally drink Patrone Silver and we're pleased with this new release.

Cathi S.

Yelp
We had taken a tour and this was the location of one of the stops. There was also a discount related to the tour. The location is great for walking around town an seeing some of the sights. We stopped in for lunch. We ate outside where the heaters and the sun made for a pleasent experience. The staff was pleasant and the food was okay. The food was good.

B R.

Yelp
Great food, great selection on beer. Love going for the atmosphere. It's in the heart of everything.

Deb D.

Yelp
Been coming since 1991. Have seen a lot of changes. Food is always good. Just wish the Mulligan stew was year round again. I miss it in the summer. French fries and gravy is the best. Raised 2 kids on this food and introduced a son in law and a grandson to this place. Hopefully get more grands to spoil there

Tessa M.

Yelp
This is a top-notch dive bar with a huge patio. Teddy and Johnny will take care of you at the bar! The reviews are deceiving, because this place is everything it's supposed to be -- cozy and fun! As a Navy Seal bar, what more could you ask for!

Hyd F.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday, live music out front people dancing enjoying themselves. I rarely get to Irish pubs, and I had some shepherds pie and it is delicious. A lot of people very upbeat and fun.

Sheila C.

Yelp
Cool dive bar in Coronado. Large outdoor patio with lots of seating. Inside is a bit smaller and definitely divey! We went there for lunch and the service was great. The food was good. We had the Rueben and French Dip. The Rueben was a little on the greasy side and the French Dip was a bit bland. The onion rings were spot on and the fries pretty good. The drinks were good and the server was great.

Bernard D.

Yelp
1. Thanks for replacing that worn and tattered Irish flag with a new one! 2. Eager to try the Bangers and Mash. 3. Smithwick's on tap! 4. BTW: It's Paddy's Day not Patty's Day. Patty is a girl's name. So the menu should read: "St. Paddy's Day Patty" 5. See you again soon!

Taylor P.

Yelp
I've been here multiple times for drinks and french fries. This is a Dive bar that serves food, so I wouldn't come ready for a 3 course meal. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. I would primarily recommend this location to stop in for a quick drink or two. For Coronado the drinks are reasonably priced. They have a wonderful outdoor area where you can sit in the sun and people watch. I think people rate this location pooly because of the Coronado expectations.

Grace P.

Yelp
Wow - with the wait this place has, you'd think it would be half-way decent. Spoiler alert: it's not. The food is BAD and the drinks are expensive. When I say the food is bad, it's all frozen or from a box. The kids' Mac N Cheese is literally Kraft. $7 for Kraft Mac N Cheese. The chicken on the salads come from a grocery deli. The burger patties are frozen. The fries are also frozen. The drinks are way over priced. How does this place survive? Tourists only? Tourists who don't check reviews? I'm just shocked. We spent $100 after having sent our salads back because they were that bad. Even the oyster crackers were stale. Side note: Even though it says this place is kid friendly, there are no changing stations in the restrooms.

Kendra C.

Yelp
Honestly was a little skeptical because of some of the reviews but was glad I gave this place a try. The food was good. I got a Shepards pie which I enjoyed. Our table split chips, salsa and guacamole. Their salsa and chips were okay but the guacamole was delicious. No frills low key place to enjoy a drink or hang out with friends/family. I didn't catch our waitress name but she gave excellent service, probably the best service I had in a while. She was communicative and attentive. I'd definitely come back here.

Toni M.

Yelp
The Food was amazing and the customer service was spot on. I would highly recommend when visiting Coronado CA.

Klaudia W.

Yelp
Loved coming here while I was in Cali. Great place to grab a beer, appetizer, and watch a band! 100% would recommend coming here if you are looking for a pub!

Ashley T.

Yelp
I'm a regular here. This is an all time favorite and a must when visiting South Lake. The cottage pie is hands down my favorite. It has ground beef with mashed potatoes and veggies. Ask for their house hot sauce on the side. Also, their chicken nuggets for an app, French onion soup, fish and chip, and of course the corned beef and cabbage. Order a Moscow mule or a Pliny the Elder. Or both!! I love a good Pilsner too. Their craft selection is diverse and tasty. It's a small cottage building with two floors. Staff is kind and fun, but be patient. You will wait a bit for service. But I promise it's worth it!!
