"An Irish pub dating to 1854, I note that McSorley’s Ale House is one of the oldest remaining restaurants in the East Village and stands out because its Irish identity doesn’t reflect the neighborhood’s earlier German and Jewish immigrant heritage." - Nick Solares

McSorley’s is such a great sports bar! 🙌 One of my favorite things is that they actually play the audio for the Eagles games—makes the whole experience so much better. They also have awesome Sunday football specials like $4 Mich and pitchers, which makes game day even more fun. Now let’s talk about the food… the wings are AMAZING! We’ve tried the mango habanero, garlic parmesan, and sweet chili—each one full of flavor and cooked perfectly. And don’t leave without ordering a pizza… seriously, it’s so yummy!!! You can tell the chef really knows what he’s doing because everything that comes out of the kitchen hits the spot. 🍕🍗 Highly recommend this spot for good vibes, great food, and the best place to watch the game. Fly Eagles Fly! 🦅🍻

Google
Very casual place with very friendly staff. Good service, staff was very attentive and polite, but not overbearing. Chicken steak was very good. Fries were awesome "crinkle" fries cooked to perfection, but WAY too salty for my taste. My first time there, but not my last. The customers all seemed to know each other, and the staff seemed to know them, calling them by name, which gives it a nice "like home" feeling. The live music there that night was off the charts and the customers really enjoyed it.

Google
Falsely accused by a girl of touching her at the bar because I didn’t give her attention after she called me a racial slur, and I was the one to get kicked out of the bar. The atmosphere is way better when the owner is at the bar. The bartenders do whatever they want when he’s not. My friends and I are never going here again. Pool table fees are ridiculous, and they replaced the fun basketball game with slot machines.

Sam G.

Google
McSorleys is a home away from home. Its a laid back dive bar that can become a ton of fun. It is the perfect place to watch a game. GO crazy for the Phillies and Eagles. Dance to karaoke on Thursdays. They just added a pizza oven and the dough is out of this world. May be the best Pizza in Delco.

I am so happy I decided to explore outside of downtown Philly to meet a friend in Ardmore to find this hidden gem. This was one of my favorite meals for my first visit to Philly, and it was tastier and more affordable than anything I could've found downtown. Our server, Leah, was super nice, transparent about the menu, and had a good sense of humor! Additional bonus points because they also offered a $4 special for my favorite vodka (Tito's) on Tuesdays. The experience just kept getting better and better after that nice surprise. Because I don't eat red meat, I was hoping to find somewhere that served a Chicken Cheesesteak. Lucky for me, McSorley's nailed it, and I've been craving this sandwich ever since eating it at the end of May! :) The family/staff who work there were very personable, welcoming, and accommodating. They helped me charge my dying phone behind the bar, which was most appreciated as I had to Uber back to my hotel later. I hope to come back someday soon for another Chicken Cheesesteak and great service. Thank you!

Great neighborhood place. Elisa is amazing. Great Pizza & Wings. Live music

Google
McSorleys is my favorite karaoke bar ever. They just upgraded their menu. Pizza dough is soooooo good.

Google
You need to update your online menu. You purposely left the old prices on there. Anyone reading this, the prices are insanely higher than the online menu. Also the pool table are 2.00$ a rack. Which is thee highest I've ever seen in Delco or anywhere else. Wings are 8 for 13.00$. Another rip off. Also, the InHouse menu is wrong also. I'm there on a Sunday with family and it states on the menu that the Sunday special is a bucket of 5 Miller lite bottles is 14$. When I ordered it the manager said that it's actually 20$ for the special and that the menu "was wrong". 20$ for 5 Miller Lite bottles is not a special. Also no soup. Under new management?? They're doing a serious injustice to that place. Current management has the wrong idea. Pathetic. Stay away. P.s. it's cold as an igloo in here. Make sure you have thermals on and a kerosene heater when visiting.

Yelp
McSorelys is a great spot to get drinks with friends and enjoy some great food. My buddys and I got Happy Dads and they were our favorite. Specifically the fruit punch Happy Dads

Matthew R.

Yelp
Mcsorleys was an amazing time with friends! They supply happy dads which is one of the best seltzers out there.

Yelp
Stopped in here yesterday for the first time in a while. The bar was packed and they only had one bartender (doing her best to keep up!) Saw what looked to be the owner for manager hanging around the bar while many people were waiting to get a drink or their check. He joked to the female bartender that he should take a pic or video of her and post to their social media (instead of helping out!!) What really bothered me was I did NOT see one menu in sight! We were so hungry and not one menu and tons of service tables (we sat at one too because the bar was so crowded) How can you run a business like this??? Definitely not like it was from years past I would Not go here.

Hungry M.

Yelp
Food and experience were OK. Just curious why the menu and pricing on the internet was 40% less expensive than the printed menu. What? With full understanding that prices have to change over time you can spend the cash to reprint your menu with new drastically higher prices but you can't take the time to update your website? Feels like bait and switch to me.

Yelp
Went here for lunch after bowling at wynnewood lanes and was pleasantly surprised when the South Philly String Band showed up in full Mummery and played a few songs. They were there for a bday celebration and it really was fun! Tim was my bartender and he was great, very personable and kept the drinks flowing. I got the bacon cheeseburger which was decent but I was surprised the bacon was crumbled and served under the cheese. I was expecting a couple crisp slices instead. They have a couple pool tables, some video games, and plenty of seating. Live bands and bingo are on my agenda for the next visit. Parking can be tough, small lot, but I got a spot on the street.

Christopher V.

Yelp
Horrible from A to Z. "Food is not edible. Prices on the online menu differ from real prices. Real prices way higher. Stay away.

Yelp
Fantastic place with great bartenders & simple but excellent food. Roast beef sandwich was as good or better than famous nicks of south philly. Bartender Paul-- an irish guy made us want to come back.

Yelp
Nice local spot and I enjoy patronizing locally owned establishments. I wish they would get the NFL Sunday ticket. I understand that it's a bit of an eagles bar however if you are into fantasy or hold the eagles in your heart as your 2nd team. It would be nice to go somewhere close to watch out of market games. The burgers here are really good and so are the wings. The beer list rotates often which is nice for us craft drinkers. They have some solid specials however I would avoid the pizza. Reminded me of school lunch - flat cracker crust. Besides they have so many other good foods, avoiding the pizza isn't hard to do. They have a couple of pool tables and fun arcade games. I wish the dartboard was English rather than American. Very few American players around here. The owner is super nice. If you are into live music this place hosts live music often... always a good time.

Yelp
Revamped and AWESOME! McSorley's has the neighborhood bar feel with familiar faces, amazing bartenders, cozy decor, and great eats and drinks. The new owners have completely turned the place around with a wonderful beer list and a solid bar menu. The atmosphere will make you want to return here every weekend for Tuesday bingo, Friday happy hour, and to watch the birds. Love this bar

Christian A.

Yelp
We had a group of 20 people, everyone was over 21 years of age. The ID machine reader showed "Failed" for one of our group members. Rather than checking the ID and using their brain/judgement, the owner and bouncer said "well, the machine said failed, so there's nothing we can do". I would NOT recommend going to this bar...

Yelp
With Philly forced to have outdoor dining late November/20 due to Covid, I decided to drive to the suburbs to eat indoors. I was shocked to see beer & food specials so low. On a Saturday night, there's 50 cent wings till 8pm. Along with Miller Lite buckets, (5) for $10. I had 20 wings and 5 beers which I couldn't finish for $20. TV's are all over so there's never a dull moment on a weekend. Will come back.

Yelp
We came here and there was only two people running the bar! Despite this the service as great and the food was great.

Yelp
It was cold, late, I was tired and I wanted to have a bad time at McSorley's and I did. The Cheesesteak was okay. It felt massed produced and it was a small crowd. The meat was finely chopped which I like. It didn't seem like the pieces were mixed together and not much flavor. The roll was okay. At $8 I shouldn't hate it but why do I have to my bar tab separately from my food when I am seating at the bar? I didn't feel the love at McSorley's. I felt like I was in a bad Seinfeld episode.

Kathy S.

Yelp
I am a retired bartender after 15 years of service and I know a bad bartender when I experience it. This guy with grey hair and a red shirt had NO customer service skills. People waited for their drinks (unless he knew you) forgot to put food orders in (unless he knew you) and spent more time chatting it up with the regulars plus his approach was unfriendly. It was our first time and it will be the last.

Yelp
The last time I set foot in McSorley's was when I was a Villanova student in the 80s. I have many happy memories of being there, but none at all of what it looked like. That must mean I was having a good time! Anyway, I was looking for a good place for my son and his friends to play pool since we know Drexeline is going to close eventually. He and I decided to try it out on a late afternoon one Saturday. We were not disappointed. He had a BBQ burger and I had the hot roast beef. Both were fantastic. The fries are also delicious. I ordered iced tea and was told it comes out of a gun before the server placed the order (which was an important disclosure). On her recommendation, I tried it and it was actually really good! If she hadn't told me, I wouldn't have known (of course that also must mean the lines were cleaned. If they do it routinely, then the drinks will always taste as they're supposed to). The bartender checked in later to see how I liked it, which was unusual and great customer service. A game of pool costs $1.50. The tables are level, the cues are straight, and we had a great time. We tried again on a Thursday - $7 for a McSorley burger and any draft beer night - and we weren't disappointed. All of us got burgers and they were awesome. And, yes, we played pool again. Couple of caveats: 1) It can get loud in there on Saturday between the crowd hanging near the games and the basketball game (it's loud), but not so loud we couldn't hear ourselves. The crowd did push into the pool area, so be careful not to poke someone with the pool cue (lol). 2) If you're going to order fries on $7 burger night, clarify whether it can be added on for the usual up-charge. Our server charged me for a side of fries, not an up-charge and that made my burger and fries almost $13. 3) Parents, it's a great place for kids, but please don't think that means they can, or should, run around. If your kid is running behind me at the same time I'm pulling my pool cue backwards, they could get hurt. I don't have eyes in the back of my head, no matter what I told my kids when they were little, and I'm not responsible for protecting your kids. YOU are. Check out their weekly specials on their website. My next McSorley's night out is going to be a girls' night out for $2 Taco Tuesday and bingo. Can't wait!!

Eugene H.

Yelp
There is not a damn thing Irish about this bar except for a few people drinking there. Menu is terrible and when I was there Guinness was not on tap. The place could have used a good cleaning and it is a nondescript neighborhood type of bar. Ok for a beer but the claim of being a great Irish bar...please.

Javk A.

Yelp
This establishment has a very poor record of managing who gets in and who doesn't. Very discriminatory. They utilize the newer "machines" to validate ID's. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. When it works, they let a 21 year old in and when it doesn't, they turn down the exact same 21 year old. I am the father of this 21 year old and have been in the bar with my kid numerous times. Those times, the machine accepted the ID. I've also been with my 21 year old twice when the machine denied the ID. (The exact same ID)!! In one instance, the guy at the door talked to me, understood that my kid was indeed 21 and let us in. In another instance, the machine denied the ID and I talked to what supposedly was the owner and he wouldn't have the discussion with me. Poorly run place. Pick anywhere else to spend your money, there are 100's of choices that don't discriminate and don't rely on machines to run their business.

Yelp
Diablo's Smoke House (formerly PJ Henry's) is now McSorley's Pub: The Neighborhood Bar & Grill. Same owner just a different name and a typical pub menu that's drifted a little away from the BBQ and Mexican food it was previously known for. Their food is pretty good and I've never had anything that was bad. They make a very decent burger. Fries are good as are the boneless chicken wings. The cheese steak flatbread is very tasty. They have a rotating selection of 10 draft beers and a "just ok" bottle selection. I go in there often (my girlfriend lives across the street) and I've requested (several times) that they get some sour beers to choose from (very trendy right now) but they have yet to follow through on that. It's your typical dive bar. A coin-op pool table, dartboards, and a shuffleboard table that is desperately in need of refinishing (but still fun to play) as well as a few arcade games and claw machines. The bartenders are always very nice. The decor is certainly wanting. The restrooms (at least the mensroom) are kinda gross but that's Delco for you. All in all it's a good place to go to grab a quick bite or a drink when you're bored or need to kill some time.

Yelp
Love that McSorley's had reopened. We've been nothing but cautious with dining and takeout during covid. This was one of our favorite causal dining options pre-covid and remains one of our favorite; so glad they've reopened. Outdoor or inside, they've the best wings around. Can't go wrong with a restaurant where the waitress remembers your order and the kids WANT to go. Support local!!

Yelp
Had a 30th birthday here last weekend in February 2019. What a great night! We set up specials and received wristbands. The owner was great and came over and introduced himself. Very friendly guy! This place is newly remodeled, the old owners are back and what a great improvement. There's artwork, music, beer, and plenty of games (basketball, pool, bowling shuffleboard, darts, pinball, skeeball, shuffleboard, ms. PAC man, and golf). This place is such a great improvement now! I highly recommend coming here to watch a game or for a drink after work.

Yelp
Dive-a-rama. Great to kill time. Decor is yard sale special. A few craft beer choices.

Yelp
This place has a nice, chill atmosphere. I went here for a friends birthday, as we were looking for a place on the mainline that was not super crowded. The place was busy, but we could find a table. The bar was busy and I did have to wait a little to be served, but if you are assertive and a little aggressive it is not a problem. It is slightly loud, but that is to be expected. It is not loud enough to prevent conversations with friends. The games add a nice atmosphere, but it is a little annoying that you have to pay for all of the games, even foosball. The prices for drinks are reasonable, but there is the added cost of games if you want to be there. The music is not that great; a few classics and recent hits, but I was certainly on the younger end of the crowd (early 20s). They have karaoke on Thursdays, that I look forward to trying!

Tasha C.

Yelp
We are out for the first time since Covid- 19 and you can sit outside for the first time and enjoy tableside service with drinks and everything! McSorley's has been great. I'm a vegetarian and they have a veggie burger and some awesome yummy dumplings. My husband is a meat eater and he's enjoying a chicken cheesesteak. They have corn hole and Paige our waitress has been wonderful! They wear masks gloves and it seems very safe and it's been fun! I highly recommend it
google avatar

Yelp
Great place to grab a drink and watch the games. Family owned and they are nice as can be. Not like the judgemental owners of other places in the area that only cater to locals and long time customers. And had my favorite bartender and cook. Along with a mixed crowd of all ages and races. Have events going on most nights along with pool tables, basketball and other games. Worth checking out if you are driving down Haverford ave.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Paid money to Uber here and then they would not let us in because we didn't have PA drivers licenses. I have previously been a customer at McSorley's so I found this ridiculous and upsetting. Wanted to post this so nobody else makes the mistake of paying for a ride there and is not allowed to be a customer.

Ian W.

Yelp
Absolutely terrible service! Refused to serve clearly over 21 year olds simply because we didnt have PA licenses. We had even called earlier to ask about bingo this rule was not mentioned. Do not come here!
google avatar

Eileen C.

Yelp
The inside has been completely redone by the new owners. They have great drink specials and friendly waitstaff.

Yelp
We came here on a Thursday night to see our friend Tom, the bartender! We were so impressed with the place! They have a great selection of beers and the food was very, very good. We did meet one of the owners, Joe! What a nice guy! We will definitely return to McSorley's Pub! Stop in; you're going to love it! Oh yeah, it was great to see Tom too!

Yelp
I love it here. So comfy and everyone is so nice. Lots of beers on tap. The food is good. I really like the cheese steaks.

Yelp
McSorley's? More like Mc Fuck This Place. I've been going to McSorley's for a few months now and was a fan of the bar. Going to the bar tonight, the owner rudely asked to see the IDs of everyone in our group as soon as we sat down - this of course is fair because we are all college students. We are, however, all of legal age. Taking our IDs, he told us that he would not "accept out of state IDs". Even though our IDs all scanned (again because we are all 21), he told us that we would have to leave after we finish our drinks. After this rude interaction, a group of our female friends came into the bar. They were immediately berated by the owner with the same "we do not accept out of state IDs" despite them having been to the bar many times before. The girls were immediately kicked out of the bar. The owner was incredibly rude to me and my friends, especially the ladies in our group. Despite my patronage for the last three months, the owner obviously didn't seem to care about us as customers. He even came up to me as I closed my tab, put his hand on my shoulder and said "I don't want to be a jack ass but the they (the girls) had to leave no questions asked". Fuck this guy and fuck this place. I will not be returning any time soon.

Yelp
Came today for Eagles Game (First Visit), local sports bar. Friendly atmosphere, excellent customer service constantly checking on us which I love....basic bar food which serves its purpose...........Oh!!!!! They have nice pool tables and a few other games....Will return

Yelp
I would give this bar 5 stars but I'm sorry if it's hot outside, turn the air conditioner on.
google avatar

Richard C.

Yelp
What a dump. No draft beer. No Jack Daniels. Ran out of the brand of bottled beer I was drinking, had to switch. Dirty bathrooms with overflowing trashcans and broken paper towel dispenser. Sticky tables. Unfriendly bartender. I doubt I'll ever be back.
google avatar

Fran M.

Yelp
This place was remodeled pretty recently and has brought new life to Mcsorley's. The arcade game area is lit a little more for a brighter scene and to help the pool players see. The other side of the open area is a little darker where you can sit at tables to eat. I really like the diversification of Mcsorley's because you aren't forced into one type of experience. The staff is very friendly and the owner has no problem asking to make sure your experience is great. They also have some of the BEST wings in Havertown. Crispy, steaming, and spicy... and only $13 for both a wing and pizza combo. Not to mention they have an everyday pitcher special on domestic beers. I would highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't already!

R L.

Yelp
An excellent place to watch the game and grab a drink they have 14 or 15 TV's they have a nice selection of craft beers on tap and in bottles. It is a very relaxed atmosphere with typical bar food. There is no snobbery or judgment from the owners. They are family owned and operated and they have excellent bartenders who are very attentive with daily drink specials. During the week there is an event going on every evening a place you feel comfortable in coming back to and very reasonably priced. Check it out!

Sally R.

Yelp
A neighborhood gem has returned. The owners of the Original McSorley's mid 1980s -90's are back! We stopped by last Friday evening and were pleasantly surprised at how busy the place was with great pub food and great drinks. Everyone was very friendly : other patrons, servers and bartenders. I think once the word gets out that the real Mcsorley's is back this will be a very crowded bar. The restrooms were very clean, They had fun bar games like basketball and shuffle bowling to name a few. This is our new favorite neighborhood spot.

Kristin S.

Yelp
6pm on a Sunday. Stopped in for drinks and $2 tacos beef or chicken. Problem is they are already out of Chicken. Hmmmm. Go to play skeet ball and the machine ate our $2 but didn't give us the balls. Bartender said "I don't know. Here's your money back!". Good to get our money back but still couldn't play skeet ball. $2 beef tacos were good.

Yelp
New owners!!! Great change of scenery! New foods new atmosphere!!! Only getting better!!!

Matt K.

Yelp
Myself and my friends had been loyal customers for several months. We loved their deals and their relaxed atmosphere. However, based on our recent experience with their extremely rude owner, we will absolutely not be coming back. Myself and my 5 male friends, who had been patrons at this bar with many of the same bartenders, were sitting at a table enjoying our first round of drinks. The owner suddenly approached me and my friends asking for our ID's (a fair request, given that we are all in college and recently turned 21). He gave us back our ID's and said "sorry about that." A few minutes later, three of our female friends arrived at the bar. Upon their arrival, the seemingly drunk owner, Joe, asked each of the girls for their ID's, which they provided (they are all also of legal age). Upon inspection, the owner claimed that they "do not accept out-of-state ID's" (all of the girls are from out-of-state but are local college students) and told the girls to leave and never come back. The owner had previously inspected all of my male friends' ID's (several are from out of state) and said nothing of the sort. We finished the drinks we already had and left the bar almost immediately. We are furious that the owner would treat our friends in this way, and it is because of this rotten and misogynistic experience that we will never be returning to this bar which we had once loved.

Denise M.

Yelp
We were here the other night and liked it a lot. They have tall top tables, which are great, and the cheesesteaks were awesome. After we ate, we moved to the bar, but they also have a pool table and a bunch of other games. We were there for a while -- everything was clean, the bartenders were nice ... I liked this place a lot.

Marty M.

Yelp
McSorley's Ale House! What a venue this is. The inside has been completely refurbished casting an ambiance you would like to see in an Irish pub. Their staff is attentive to all your needs. Visit on Friday nights - this is when the bartender Bill is working! He does an Irish jig if you buy a shot :-)

J H.

Yelp
Great new place. Super clean. Good selection of beers and great food. Poppers and burger was awesome! Definitely be back again and again!

Steve M.

Yelp
Nice place to watch a game or just hang out. Plenty of room if you are with a group unlike some of the local places that are small. Love the draft beer selection and the daily drink specials. I had the wings and they were very good. Lots of flat screens for the sports fan. Pool tables , pinball and some other games make the place a lot of fun. A great new addition to the local scene.

NellNell K.

Yelp
Stopped in late last night for a few after work having no idea what to expect. Good live band, bartender was awesome, cheap drinks, mixed crowd who just minded their business (except for the creepy guy across the bar that kept staring at me, but hell every dive has "that guy") and just mostly a bunch of Old Head Delco people getting drunk doing the Over 50 arm flailing dance that Old Heads do....Loved every second of it

Patricia C.

Yelp
This place is great if you are not hungry, thirsty or in a hurry. Their bartenders are the worst.

Stephen M.

Yelp
I wish I didn't have to write this review. I have been to McSorley's around 10 times or so since getting back to school and have always had positive experiences. This was until tonight, when my friends and I (who were simply at the bar to watch a basketball game) were rudely asked by co-owner Joe for our IDs. Of course, we complied as we are college age, but he then said he would refuse any ID that was not from Pennsylvania. This is after everyone in our group has been to the bar at least 3 times and Joe has taken our IDs before. He was very rude about it but let us stay. 3 of our female friends met us at the bar and were immediately bombarded by Joe. He told them the same thing as us and said they had to leave immediately, no questions asked. The fact that he let the men stay but told the women they had to leave seemed inappropriate, and while this was happening he seemed to be intoxicated. He then told the women that they were never invited back and should not return. I really enjoyed the chill environment of McSorley's but after tonight I will not return. Co-owner Joe was a horrible representative of the bar and it is a shame that he ruined what I enjoyed as a fun sports bar within walking distance of my house. I highly recommend no one go to this bar until the ownership figures out their issues. I understand being weary of younger patrons at a bar but Joe personally scanned our IDs tonight and in the past and we never had any issues until tonight. He was rude, unprofessional, likely intoxicated, and because of his actions I will never return to a bar that I once loved.
