It was my first time ever experiencing Mead, and it was absolutely delicious. I have a sweet tooth, so this was perfect for me. Everything from the moment I walked in captured my attention. They have an area with arcade games, and they even have some cute pets in here for you to greet. They have a little introduction snippet, too. I was too short to try and find them, but this just adds to the environment. Dez is an ABSOLUTE delight, and speaking to her really gave me a lot of information about how they make the Mead and just knows how to add to the overall experience. You can tell she enjoys what she does and that is HUGE!! I stopped in last Saturday and they were setting up for karaoke. I also spoke to some guests who tend to come in and they were also talking about how much they enjoy this place. I will be back to try more menu items because everything I tasted was delicious. Dez mentioned the no hangover so I would like to highlight that also. I tries the Mango Ginger - soooo refreshing and delightfulto sip on. Hibiscus Dragonfruit Lemonade - dangerous because it tastes like juice but . Foundation - this gives you the taste of honey and man oh man yummy. Royal Espresso - I loveeeee coffee and this I could sip on all day. Dez also gave me a taste of Tea with a Twist of Honeybee and like the name taste just like tea!!! I would say the only thing that would make this place top notch is if they had some food. It was mentioned you can have food delivered here for yourself as you enjoy the ambience.

I love mead and typically prefer the sweeter, and stronger versions. I thought I've been to all the mead places in North County and was sad to see Golden Coast Mead right down the street from my house in Oceanside closed their tasting room during the pandemic. I was surprised to see there was a new(ish) shop in San Marcos. Opened in 2019, Meadiocrity Mead is not remotely mediocre. They boast a plethora of flavors in both sweet & dry varietals, and in a range of ABC strength. I brought our group of friends with me and we eat purchased a flight of four meads each, 16 altogether and we added a couple of more at the end. The flavors were outstanding and I love a strong mead. Prices were great at $12 per flight, as you're basically getting one glass for free (when purchased individually). There was a lot of seating when we initially got there, with even seating outdoors however it was painfully chilly outside so the warm couches inside were the way to go. They don't offer any food but we were able to stop at Senior Panchos Mexican Food down the street beforehand, packed up a few burritos and ate heartily at one of the large dining tables. Although the seats at these tables were metal and not quite that comfortable, they do have a couple of massive couches for those with a little less padding in the "rear" (such as I). Once inside, the room quickly filled up with other patrons on a Saturday night so best advice is to come early on the weekends to get your honey on right. The folks that work there were kind and helpful in choosing some good flavors. Overall great mead place to check out if you're in the area! Right off the 78 too...easy peasy and right across from Rip Current Brewing if you want to mix things up.

Google
Excellent mead and very comfortable place. Everyone was nice and welcoming. Dogs are welcome, very clean areas. No food, however there was a taco truck outside, amazing! On Wednesday and Thursday, there are Dungeons and Dragons games going on. They all brought in food for a potluck (score!). Some were dressed in costume as well. Wide variety of flavors and they let you taste them if you've never had mead before.

Google
Cool vibes! Went there on a sunny Saturday because I had heard such great things about this meadery and all good things were TRUE! I loved walking into Karaoke night and sitting back listening and sipping these delicious meads! Watch out for the espresso, it has a kick! Will definitely be back💙

Google
This was our first time ever trying Mead and it was very good! The staff is great and really know their stuff. I have a ginger allergy so some of the items listed were off limits for me but there were still plenty of options for me to try out. My favorite was the fire Mead and my husband's was the one with vanilla and oak. The fire mead was smooth and had a bit of heat that hit you at the back of the throat (but not too much, just enough). The one with vanilla and oak was a bit sweeter, was tasty but I couldn't drink too much of that one. Everything we had was great, very refreshing and I love the fact that the Mead is made with locally sourced honey. We went on a Friday night around 7 and it was pretty packed. They had a live band and a grilled cheese stand (hey that rhymed). All seriousness though for sure check them out, great Mead, friendly/helpful staff and great atmosphere/ location.

Google
I loved this place! They had a lovely comfy couch to hang out on, and Mead was great and there was a group playing DND there. The staff was super friendly and gave great suggestions. I highly recommend the Tea with a Twist of Honeybee!

Google
We did a tasting of Mediocrity Mead at a local farmers market in Escondido, at the Welk Resort. Tried and liked many of their selections, but settled on the least sweetest sparkling Bzz liquid gold. Visited the brewery the next day to see what was on tap and brought home more! Quaint place — totally packed. Would have liked a little more direction in what to select from the staff. We’d never heard of mead and we’re pleasantly impressed! Who knew alcohol was being made from honey and that it predates beer and wine! Even Game of thrones jumped on the mead bandwagon recently!

Google
Absolutely nothing mediocre about this meadery! I tried everything, and this meadery is top notch! Each mead executed its flavor note description per the menu. The Meadacolada was insane! Tropical, toasted coconut, honey finish - probably my favorite on the list. Watermelon Basil was equally great, practically tasted like Watermelon juice! I didn't get the bartender's name (male/glasses) but he was very knowledgeable of the menus and their flavors. He was very personable and able to walk you through each mead. Indoor seating was cozy (there was a couch for bigger groups) and outdoor seating available. I will most certainly make it a point to come back.

Greg G.

Yelp
The owner was very interesting and the mead bear great. Not really a place for food but beer was perfect

Yelp
THE BEST LOCAL MEADERY My friends and I have made it our mission to check every meadery in the local area because of how good the mead was here, but this one just takes the cake. We have become quite the regulars here. Most meaderies are tucked away in an industrial lot but this one is the easiest to spot. The interior is so chill with very fun wall and bar decor. Plus, a handful of board games to play with your friends while you enjoy your drinks. The person helping us out was super friendly and easy to connect with. You can tell they have a love for what they do. Additionally they have fun events on certain days like karaoke on Saturdays and DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS on Thursdays??!?! Now the mead itself is... Phenomenal! You get the perfect variety of sweet meads, traditional meads, sparkling meads, seasonal meads, and just fun unique flavors. Flights come labeled in these cute crates with little wine glasses but you can also get their CANNED mead to go! The best part is, they use their own honey they have at their hives! So we have also found them at local farmers markets! Overall this is the best meadery around and is my go to spot for anyone who enjoys mead. If you haven't had mead, can not recommend this spot enough!

Joel P.

Yelp
After years of buying mead from our local farmers' market, I finally had the chance to visit Meadiocrity Mead, and it was an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, we loved the lush atmosphere--tons of greenery and plants throughout the meadery really set a great vibe. Our group of four decided to share three flights (each flight has four tastings), which allowed us to try nearly everything on the menu, except for the two members-exclusive meads. Every single option was enjoyable, but our clear favorites were the flagship Buzz Gold mead and the mead mixed with Tempranillo--both were exceptional. There was plenty of space to spread out and take our time savoring each tasting, which made the experience even more relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, it was a great time, and I highly recommend checking out Meadiocrity Mead!

Joseph Y.

Yelp
Taste: 5 Value: 4 Service: 5 Here for the yelp elite event! The mead they served was delicious and unique. There are affordable drinks and the flight is always a good deal. Employees are super nice and there was a DJ setting up for evening events. Plenty of board games to play while hanging out with friends and family.

Tajuana C.

Yelp
Magnifi jus deliciousness all round! Every two weeks they have different flavors. I was kind of bummed they didn't have the Orange creamsicle flavor I had last time but that quickly went away up tasting the flight! They just have the best flavors and you really can't go wrong. If you don't like sweet drinks then you might not like this but with duration it's so damn good! Highly recommended and it's down the street from me lol! We're probably going to join their membership

Judith N.

Yelp
We ordered our tasters, they don'thave food here. I have been here, wh when they have a feed truck, so you can have some food with your drinks....the cashier answered any questions we had....we sat at a table that had enough room for us....and we even played a few games of cards....it was clean...

Tim V.

Yelp
Great experience, attended on a cool January Friday night. Real chill atmosphere ordered 3 flights and sampled the entire menu. Debated on our favorites and service was absolutely fantastic. Great pricing and will definitely be back. If i lived closer i would signup for the Club offerings they have, might do so in the future. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
Very cute place for a hangout with your friends. If you fancy a mead and some music with some games - this is theplace for you. Thank you yelp elite for putting this on the map.

Craig W.

Yelp
The meads are as excellent as ever. They seem to add new ones all the time, which keeps things interesting. They even have a butter bee-r (get it? "bee"-r?) one now, which really does taste like butter beer. It's delicious. Flights are almost always the best way to go because you can try four different meads and, trust me, the pours are generous. The variety of meads is outstanding. Some are sweet, some are bone dry, some are boozy, and some are not. There are plenty to pick from. Great, comfortable environment. I'm a big fan.

Charles K.

Yelp
Such a cool little spot if you're into mead! They've got some really interesting flavors - the blackberry one was my favorite. It's a chill, laid-back vibe, and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. It's not huge, so seating can fill up fast, but it's definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for something different.

Yelp
Mead Me Saturday! What Cool vibes! Went there on a sunny Saturday because I had heard such great things about this meadery and all good things were TRUE! I loved walking into Karaoke night and sitting back listening and sipping these delicious meads! Watch out for the espresso, it has a kick! Will definitely be back

Selina Y.

Yelp
As a wine lover, I was nervous to try mead. But I am so glad because it was absolutely delicious!!! And the vibe here was the best. Can't wait to come back.

William D.

Yelp
We tried several versions of the mead, hibiscus, black tea, colada and loved the blood orange. We recommend the tasting flight, only $20!

Kyle O.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite Mead place in all of North County. They always have new flavors and I'm always able to find more than a few that are delicious. The flights are a great value so that you can try all the flavors . Most recently I had a coffee variety and a mint chip variety I believe. Both were delicious. The coffee was almost like a stout while the mint chip was a bit lighter but still tasty. They have games if you feel like playing those on a nice couch area if you have a larger party. But it is first come first serve so be ready for that.

Eloise S.

Yelp
Checked this place out on a whim and I'm so glad I did! It became one of my favorite spots instantly. My friends and I went for the first time on a Sunday and they have karaoke that day! The mead is really good too and they sometimes rotate the menu which is pretty cool. My favorites are the Jasmine, Foundation, dragon fruit, and peach lime. The staff is really nice and the place itself is a cool spot to hang out and have a drink. They have couches and games to play as well.

Liz C.

Yelp
Chill spot to hang out on a Friday afternoon after work. Great seating area. I recommend the flights to see what you like first, then go on and order your favorite! We all have different tastes and they have different options. You can open a tab and just charge as you go. Friendly host, helped with choosing and explaining by each flavor!

Jamie F.

Yelp
A fun interior with comfortable seating, friendly service, and all four meads I tasted were great! I'll definitely be back.

Jacob S.

Yelp
I haven't had mead before, so this was a new experience for me. They had more options than I expected and there was definitely something for everyone. I normally go for the sweeter drinks and I loved the blueberry waffle and orange cream, though the foundation was much more pleasant than I expected give on the 12%ABV. It's a cute tasting room - we went on a Sunday afternoon and it was totally dead, but it looked like it could handle more than enough people for normal hours. The person working the front was helpful and interactive. When we went there was a Groupon 4 flights and snacks for $25 which was a fantastic deal. The churro popcorn was really amazing.

Vidya P.

Yelp
This is not my first time, and it definitely won't be my last. Every time I have visited, I have had a wonderful experience trying the many different flavors of mead (I always get the flight so I can taste more flavors!). I love how friendly and knowledgeable the hosts are, and how much information they provide you in the amount of time you are staring at the menu! :) What I love most is the decor around the place. There is ample amount of seating, and they have honeycomb designed decor floating above you! They also have to-go items on shelves, along with a number of games you can play while you are enjoying your mead! Would highly recommend. (P.S. Ask for their off menu flavors!)

Jason N.

Yelp
I love this place! I can say that many moons ago I was never really a fan of "Mead" however that was normally due to trying some batch that someone's uncles cousins next door neighbor made for an upcoming Ren Faire. Stepping inside of this Meadery, you have the honeycomb, honey, bee theme going strong, from the custom wooden honeycomb hanging from the ceilings, to the beekeeper items placed on counters and tables throughout. Every... Single... Time.. I have been here, I have had a super warm welcome, polite conversation and well offered suggestions on what to try! Mark is fantastic, you can really sense the passion that he has for his craft. He is always welcoming in answering questions about any of the process of making mead, upcoming ideas that he has had and also very wanting in your feedback on any of the meads. The menu here varies with some new stuff added and some stuff subtracted each time we go back, I suggest a flight to hone in on what your tastes are, followed by a glass of your favorite. They have a club, which I was happy to join now for the 2nd year which offers perks and discounts, their e-mail list also keeps you informed of special events coming up, like the honey tasting several months back. They have quite an assortment of board type games available for you play and hang out for awhile. The best thing is they always seem to have something for everybody, from those who prefer a more dry taste, to those like me who enjoy it a bit on the sweeter side. If you enjoy Mead I recommend coming by and giving it a try, if you don't enjoy mead.. I also recommend coming by and giving it a try and possibly surprising yourself... if you have never had Mead.. definitely come by and see what you have been missing!

Darci M.

Yelp
No bees have been harmed in the making of this! Ok, so Andrea was amazing! Talking us through the flavors and sharing all the goodness about Mead. I had no idea the sweet honey nectar made Mead. They take loving care of over 6 million bees locally to produce all of their mead. We tasted all the flavors and will for sure be back. There is indoor and out door seating. We looked on the website and friendly dogs are welcome so we brought out little pup. We also stopped and picked up dinner to munch on while we drank our Adult yummy juice. There are 2 old school video games to play as well as board games to play while you sit and enjoy. Hope they start to offer events again. Sampling food with meads or theme events would be fun. Can't wait to come again and try their new fermented honey and water flavors since they change every few weeks.

Tiffany R.

Yelp
This was my very first time having a mead, and I'm a fan! Meadiocrity was probably the best introduction I could have had to meads as far as flavor is concerned. I learned that a mead is a fermented "honey wine", and I'll have to admit that I did enjoy it more than your typical glass of grape wine! My two favorite drinks were the foundry and the fire. The foundry tastes --to me-- like a honey apple cider with low carbonation. It was SO enjoyable. The fire was a sweet strawberry honey flavor with a hint of heat from the cayenne pepper. It's not incredibly spicy, but it's enough to warm you up, for sure! Those are my two definite recommendations to try. They also have one that's a bit hoppy. If you're into IPA's, it's worth tasting. I also loved the fact that the staff was incredibly friendly and informative, and the location was clean and organized. There are board games as well as 2 arcade games to keep friends, family, and/or young ones entertained Swing by for a fun date, girls day/night out, or even drinks after dinner. You will not be disappointed!

Kelsey J.

Yelp
10/10 experience! Mead was fantastic and the atmosphere was incredible. We went on a karaoke night and it was so fun to watch.

David M.

Yelp
Interesting concept! I learned about this place from Yelp. First time having Mead. I only knew about it from stories about Vikings and didn't really know what it is. Meadiocrity Mead is located in a regular industrial park. Concrete floors with minimal build-outs. The few decorative items are clever, just like the Meadiocrity logo, which resembles a honeycomb - since mead is honey wine The place was not that busy on a Saturday night. One employee behind the bar, the guy was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered a flight to sample the mead. Their foundation mead and the Mango Ginger flavor where great. The other two were good but not in our wheelhouse. I'm sure they have their fans. Meadiocrity Mead has quite a number of flavors, both for onsite consumption and to go. To go works just like in many mini brews, buy a growler and they fill it. For some flavors they have cans and regular prefilled bottles. Why only 3 stars? Answer: No food. Flavored popcorn at $5/bag doesn't cut it. The place needs food, preferably a real kitchen, but even a food truck would do. It's an incomplete concept without it and maybe only a stopover instead of a destination.

Yelp
Have been here before, and enjoyed the variety they had available this time. In fact, the best flavors they had (fireberry, cosmo) was on their secret menu. I also enjoyed the chai, citra, vanilla oak. Each was so distinctly flavored. I am so glad I was able to go back and try their new flavors. This place is slowly becoming a favorite, and I don't mind the drive because it's new (and delicious) every time I visit. Service is wonderful. Seating is plentiful, and ambiance is great. Would highly recommend.

Denisse R.

Yelp
Meadiocrity is awesome! It's tucked away in the same center as Rip Current. As you walk in you can't help but notice how spacious it is, all the seating options, and honeycomb fixtures hanging from the ceiling. We found out about this place through a Yelp Elite event. We were greeted by Andrea and she was super friendly and helpful. Andrea asked if we wanted an overview of the menu and of course we said yes. She took the time to go into detail on each of their options and even offered us two additional meads that were off the menu. I decided to go with the following: Boozy Lemon Lavender - definitely Boozy but the lemon and lavender mellowed it out nicely. Meadiocrity mule - a different take on a mule that I absolutely liked! Watermelon Basil - very refreshing and light! Cosmo - tasted a little like fruit punch in the best way possible. I brought my significant other with me and he also decided to try a flight so we could cover most of the menu. His favorite was the Foundation. Ill have to say it was definitely at the top of my list too. We absolutely loved it here! Will we be back? Heck yes! There aren't too many meaderies in San Diego so it's nice to have options.

Kiki M.

Yelp
This spot is amazing! My husband and I, try to go at least once a month and try all the new meads on tap. The bartenders are always friendly and helpful if you don't know what to get or where to start. I like to try out all the other local meaderies, and this one is my favorite. Sometimes there is a food truck around for food, but you also bring in your own food.

Mia M.

Yelp
This interesting spot has some delicious meads! It has a wide variety from sweet to exotic and the freshness is definitely noticeable. The place itself is fun and a great environment offering karaoke on a Saturday night! The bartender was SUPER nice and allowed us to taste until we settled on our full glass commitment after a solid flight of recommendations.

Jake B.

Yelp
Solid mead, a touch on the pricier side, but not horrible. I liked sitting on the couch. Dog friendly

Jose C.

Yelp
Been a customer of these guys for 4 years now. They opened back in 2019 & the place is just outstanding. I love how chill the vibe is & how I always feel super relaxed. When food trucks come here, the food makes it even better. The mead here changes a lot but it's still delicious.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Came here to pick up some things for a Yelp Elite event. For a virtual event, I picked up the a growler of the Foundation and Mango Ginger, and also a Royal We. Pretty cool place - would have been awesome if they were open to try out their flights. No problem parking as I went early after they gave us the information and dates of when to pick up. Met Isaac during my 1st time who was very informational about everything. Felt pretty good about my choices and was looking forward to coming back. After the virtual event for Yelp Elites, I returned again to try out others. Both my fiancee and I very much liked the Foundation. It was just light and very refreshing. Mango Ginger was alright, and the Royal We was SWEET (like Isaac had warned me). It very much reminded me of a dessert wine. Amusingly enough, mead's pretty strong in which one you choose. We went on a Sunday and actually got to sample a few before deciding on what to buy. We sampled the The One with Strawberry, Pomegranate, Pomegranate Old Fashioned, Elderflower Lemon, and the Margarita Mead. There were a few patrons around as I believe you can get a flight during that time, while drinking within their specified vicinity. There was a small line forming behind us while we were trying out our drinks, so it looks like it could get busy depending on the time you go. -The One with Strawberry was very light, and we were told it was one of their popular ones. -Pomegranate - was very nice. If we go back again, we're planning on getting a growler of this next. -Pomegranate Old Fashion - tasted like a weaker Old Fashioned but with a pomegranate flavor. -Elderflower Lemon - we were very much a fan of this one. -Margarita Mead - tasted very much like a Margarita. We ended up getting a growler of the Foundation, Elderflower Lemon and a bottle of The One with Vanilla & Oak. This time around, we finished the Elderflower Lemon prior to the Foundation. Still haven't popped the one on the Vanilla & Oak, but we were told the bottles last longer. Growlers are good for 2 weeks approximately, unless you open them. Then they're usually good for around 3 days. Would totally come again.

Nina Z.

Yelp
I first heard about Meadiocrity Mead through a Yelp event and I am so glad for it! Mark did such an amazing job educating us on all things mead. I didn't know what good mead tasted like until I had the opportunity to try their Foundation Mead. After that, I was hooked. You can definitely taste the honey and alcohol distinctly. I immediately ordered their traditional lover's variety pack, which includes their Foundation, Cultivated Native, and The Royal We. I only wish they offered more variety to buy online since it looks like they only offer a limited selection for shipping. For the event, they offered other varieties of mead such as Pomegranate, Mango Ginger, and Mojito. Otherwise, I definitely plan on making a stop here in the future. Thank you, Meadiocrity! Will keep checking the website for more offerings.

Kimmy C.

Yelp
Beautiful venue and tucked away in San Marcos for easy sips and fascinating beverage. They truly love their art of mead and I am a huge fan of all the flavors they offer. Came by a couple of times through some awesome events.. and I love the decor they have. It's a nice chill space with natural light, honeycomb decor, and tasty drinks. Great service. fabulous offerings and prices. Definitely go check them out!

Dan M.

Yelp
Picture an old strip center of old aging industrial buildings, but then see an oasis with outside seating beckoning you with upgraded decor. Very welcoming as you enter this open warehouse space. They rotate their lineup of mead which is worthy of trying a flight as they are all so different. You can't go wrong with the foundation as it is like a dry apple wine or cider and good for everyone. Then they have watermelon basil or Oaked vanilla (very sweet dessert like) and they try and make some with hops to appease us beer drinkers. All and all a good place to visit with friendly staff

Lauren W.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of getting a close up, sneak peek of this place and gosh, my expectations were blow away. There was a virtual Yelp Elite event where we got to learn the ins and outs about Meadiocrity the company andddd Mead the beverage (which, because of this, was my first time tasting)! I got a growler of the foundation mead as well as a bottle of the vanilla oak mead. So far I have sampled the foundation, and it is extremely delicious. Reminds me of a kombucha/white wine/moscato type of flavor, but not exactly. It's hard to place and unique in taste. Very pleasing! The customer service is above and beyond as well. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I was impressed by what I was able to learn directly from going inside. Attention to cleanliness was also strictly adhered! Parking was easy and the location was a breeze to find. Would recommend 10/10

Yelp
Some of the best mead I've ever had! A lot of options from dry to semi-sweet. They have their anchor products but are always innovating and creating new flavors. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is fun and laid back. I love combing by on Sunday' afternoons when they aren't too busy and I don't feel rushed or crowded.

Yelp
Such a cool little place! My sister and I stopped by. We got two flights and got to try 4 different meads each. The decorations here are really nice! Lots of honeycomb and it's such a nice place to just relax and hang out. We both thought mango and watermelon were the definite favorites. Watermelon is a very refreshing summer drink and the mango was very nice as well. A little sweet! Parking is plentiful here too!

Yelp
I love this place. They are fantastic! I'm so happy I found them before COVID so I can continue to visit and support them during this time. Their meads are different than other meads I've had. Usually I can only drink a tiny glass of mead because it's so thick and sweet. Not Mediocrity's. Theirs reminds me of really fine wine. It has a much thinner viscosity than a "regular" mead. I love that they use local honey in their meads and the fact that they have some of their own bee hives is a bonus. You can even pick up some honey if you'd like to take some home. I've loved the flavors of everything they make. However, I've found that my favorites are the dry and off-dry varieties. For those of you that prefer a sweeter variety, they do have them available on their menu. They have really gone out of their way to support their customers during COVID. Right now, the growlers are free with a fill. What an amazing deal!

Yelp
Before trying Mediocrity Mead my attempts at trying mead were not pleasant. This place changed everything for me! Every mead that I tasted was delicious and smooth! I cant even tell you how much fun we had! Mark and Andrew the co-owners assisted with flavors. I like a sweet drink where my son likes the more traditional mead. I opted for Pomegranate, Ginger cream, Meadacolada and Longevity. Oh and the cinnamon mead which will be on tap next week! DELICIOUS! They have a variety of games and we played (I mostly lost) Connect Four while sipping our amazing mead. When finished we had a tasting of three delicious honeys. They will begin selling them on Valentine's day. Can't wait. We ended up with several growlers and several bottles of mead to take home. See my pics. Special thanks to the incredible Yelp team for making this adventure possible!

Yelp
As a mead newbie, I didn't know what to expect (I'm normally a bourbon girl). I don't drink wine or beer either but I tried a growler of the Foundation and was really surprised at a) how strong it was a d b) the flavor was really smooth and not overly sweet! One growler lasted three nights (for just me) and I am really looking forward to going back to try some other flavors! And I have already told friends we need to go back and try a flight for happy hour some night soon!!

Yelp
Before I start, for those not familiar with what Mead is, Mead is an alcoholic beverage made from fermenting honey. I would have never have known this but thanks to a Yelp Elite event, got the opportunity to check out Meadiocrity Mead. They make their Mead from bee to bottle using raw local honey from their own hives and partnerships with local beekeepers and farmers. We came on a friday evening after dinner. We were two virgin mead drinkers excited to try mead for the first time. We had a couple flights of mead tasting between us. These are the flavors we got. Please bear in mind, taste preferences are subjective. You might have a different opinion but I wanted to share what my thoughts were on the different meads we had. They were all good. Foundation - My husband's favorite. Made with Alfalfa honey. Sweet and more intense flavor Pomegranate - My favorite, I really enjoyed this drink, if you like Pomegranate this is for you. Ginger Creme - Delightful, you could really taste the Ginger flavor Thorn - Tasted Light and dry and had a delicate flavor Apricot - Nice and fruity Strawberry - Tart and refreshing Cultivated Native - Like a cross between a beer and wine After our mead tasting we got to do some honey tasting. The honey were from their own local hives. There were 3 flavors of honey and each tasted distinctly different from each other and were all good. They do not currently sell the honey but are planning to in the near future. We had a great time at Meadiocrity Mead. It was a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back to try their different flavors such as Mango Ginger, Meadacolada and Cranberry and checking out some of their cool selection of board games that they have there.

Yelp
FINALLY a meadery to give lost cause meadery a run for their money! I loveeeee lost cause and I have tried a couple of local meaderys and they just don't compare. But now mediocrity meadery is a worthy opponent. I sampled almost all of their meads and even bought the vanilla and oak flavor they have bottled up in the back. My favorites are: mango, ginger cream and raspberry. Trust me, they all taste delicious so there is no wrong choice. I like how the have a child area as well for them to play with while the adults can enjoy. Thank you for having us and we can't wait to come back. This is our new mead spot from now on since it is so close to home!

Yelp
Such a wonderful time at Meadiocrity Mead! Meadiocrity had two meads on tap that were made by their own bees, and it was my first time having estate mead. Even for the meads made with other honeys, it was clear that the staff is emotionally invested in all the bees they know. The decor is ADORABLE - honeycomb fixtures lining the roof, beekeeping equipment tastefully adorns the entrance and bar, and there's really neat bee art along the walls. There's beekeeping-related coloring pages and a coloring table for kids, while there's bee-related board games (and normal ones too haha) to entertain the grown-ups. Love the honey/bee-related homemade jewelry! As for the mead itself - DELICIOUS! So many layers of flavors in each mead. Our favorites were the Foundation and Strawberry meads, and we took home a growler of the Strawberry. Fantastic with brunch a week after our visit!

Yelp
My husband and I have had mead before at a restaurant and were disappointed there, especially since honey is one of my favorite flavors in the world. Thankfully, Meadiocrity Mead redeemed mead for me. It's pretty obvious how passionate they are about bees, honey, mead, customers understanding how mead is made, and making the best products they can. They control the process, down to owning the bees! Mark was not only helpful in making suggestions for tasters (mango ginger was our favorite), he also explained how the different variations of honey are produced and turned into the mead itself. My husband and I got to taste most of the flavors that resonated with us with 2 flights, and we look forward to new ones. I highly recommend a stop to see their venue, get some mead tastings, try some honey, and learn more about "farm to mead."

Yelp
How Mead'ing cool! First time Mead'er, wandered in randomly and glad I did. Nice warm spot that's different from the breweries out there. Mead itself is very unique as is their backstory which the staff so kindly walked me through. Amber was very welcoming and patient with all my questions. The brewer Isaac shared some insightful tips. Fun spot for a group of friends to link up.
