This location has the nicest staff! There’s always candy in the office and a smile on Angel’s face always brightens my day whenever I’m there! Such a pillar of the community 💗 thank you for all your hard work and helping our seniors!

I leave notes on my door if I go for medical , to leave food on my door. But volunteers never do it. I have never received a full week meal yet. I'm not happy with them. They are not considerate if you go to pharmacy or doctors to just leave the food on the door even with the note. Very poor service especially people delivering the meals.

Wonderful People that volunteer to give meals to the homebound and elderly. They are always looking for volunteers willing to take a small route and deliver meals Monday thru Friday. Contact Chris Baca Director or Angel for assistance with meals.

I was impressed with all the praise Meals on Wheels received on its webpage, but now as a Meals on Wheels client, I fully understand why. They actually delivered on Christmas day! These are wonderful people. Happy Holidays!

The woman who answered was overly rude. Haven't spoken with meals or wheels. Need it, don't want to call back and get yelled at. Rather go hungry

Yelp
The food can be sometimes fine other times okay. The big problem is that this outfit is extremely disorganized. I have told them over and over again that I don't drink cow's milk or citrus products because of my allergies and they never listen. I have mentioned that I don't eat red meat and it took mentioning seven times before they got my meals straight regarding veggie or chicken and fish but no red meat. I do pay for the meals. Yes it's at a great discount which I appreciate and at the same time the disorganization at their place is just overwhelming. I came back from out of town and I had mentioned to one of the head people if they could deliver starting on Friday again. Instead I got a meal on Wednesday when I wasn't expecting it and then they didn't deliver my meals for Friday. When they're helping people out it, would really help if there was an organized system rather than complete chaos and disorganization. This makes it really difficult for people that are seniors receiving these meals. I've never seen an organization as disorganized as this one.

Yelp
Every so often in this life some of us are kicked in the ass, smashed over the head and left for (almost) dead. Thank goodness there are altruistic organizations like Meals On Wheels to offer a hand up. Four days each week big-hearted volunteers give of their energy and time to help by delivering meals to those who cannot help themselves. This review isn't about that. If it were, it would rate TEN STARS. This is only about the food, an institutional hodge-podge that would be better served as compost. Aside from the tuna and egg salad sandwiches, fresh fruit and a bit of orange juice, the rest is inedible. I wish I could say differently but that would be to ignore reality. These Big Hearted people seriously need a crash course at the nearest cooking school.

Yelp
The volunteers are wonderful. I can't say enough good things about them. The food ranges from delicious to barely edible--but it's a bargain and a godsend for us, especially compared to what most people are paying for similar meals. BUT...they have a tendency to put sugar in items that don't require it. Today, for example, we were served three different kinds of vegetables and some kind of sweetener was in each one (carrots, corn, sweet potato). A recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) provides evidence that people who ate the largest amounts of added sugar had the highest blood triglyceride levels and the lowest HDL (good) cholesterol levels. In 2023, the BMJ listed additional harms. Go here to read more: https://www.bmj.com/content/381/bmj-2022-071609 This should be an easy practice to change and if that happens, I'll remove this review. Thanks!

Yelp
I had meals on wheels deliveries when I was housebound during chemotherapy. The food is better than any meals on wheels I ever had. The staff is kind and compassionate. Everyone up to the Director is service minded and friendly. The volunteers are reliable, uplifting and gleeful each visit. I am extremely grateful for all the love and care I received when I needed it most. God is so good!

Yelp
I am a community service volunteer who chose this site as my contribution to the elderly. I had the pleasure of meeting Margaret and Wally. Great people and quality staff members. I appreciate their kind treatment of me and ability to work with me and my scheduling needs. The services this organization renders goes above and beyond their mission statement. I highly recommend this service for your elderly parents or relatives. Many volunteers chip in and rally around our senior community in ensuring their safety and well being . Very impressed. I think you will be too.

Yelp
I've never met so many kind people before. The volunteers are great members of the community with warm hearts. It's amazing that volunteers donate a portion of their day to improve the lives of so many.

Yelp
I am proud to be affiliated with MOWW as a Board Member, volunteer and advocate. We battle the rising costs of food on a daily basis, but always manage to deliver hearty and healthy meals for our shut ins, along with a smile and a friendly visit. I personally have been out on food routes and seen this for myself over and over again. We look forward to our two upcoming annual fundraising events and encourage all to participate with us. Yelp
I've been a volunteer with Meals On Wheels West for over 7 years and know this is one of the true non-profit gems on the Westside. Meals On Wheels West touches so many our valued community members that can no longer leave their homes. They help those people in need maintain their independence with the food and friendship we all desire. A grass roots, locally run organization, Meals On Wheels West connects people that no longer have the ability to get out of their homes with world around them through kindness and human interaction. MOWW provide those recipients the food they rely on to stay healthy and safe.

Tess S.

Yelp
Delivery volunteers are great! Nutritious meals delivered is a valuable service. However, they are only hearty and healthy if they are eatable by those that receive and need the meals. MOWW has problems with the lack of food choices, low quality products and overcooking. They need to provide fresh produce and bread products. Current meals include stale breads and canned mushy fruits. There is no dietician that works with the clients.Meals are all planned once a year. The director said they have too many clients to improve the food quality and/or change or add to the current kitchen routine. The city is very careful about regulations to avoid food safety problems, but the meals themselves, which people depend upon, need to be appealing enough to eat.

Yelp
I've been volunteering at this location for over a year now and it's one of my favorite times of the week. This is a wonderful program that helps so many people in need of help. If you need a new spark of light in your life this is a place you can find it. Helping others is key to happiness. It's a couple of hours that will give you a lifetime of memories.

Yelp
I started volunteering this summer at MoW in Santa Monica and I'm having a great time. For my first few shifts, the MoW staff made sure they paired me with some experienced volunteers so I could learn the ropes and have the correct training to feel comfortable on my own. I only volunteer once a week, and feel great after every shift. The organization does an excellent job serving the community and I'm proud to play a small part.

Yelp
"Meals on Wheels really is a gem. It is not often that you get to see what is going on behind closed doors of those who are in need and actually make a real difference in people's lives. The volunteers help not only the clients, but each other. If only the world would take after this model it would be a much better place."

Yelp
I've been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels West for 12 years. This service can provide 2 nutritious meals, a newspaper and a check of general well-being for the homebound every day. The clients range from the elderly to handicapped to those recuperating from surgery or illness. Meals on Wheels West is a top notched service and volunteer opportunity. Both the giving and the getting of MOW makes people feel better!

Yelp
Meals On Wheels West in Santa Monica provides an important service by delivery meals to the homebound. My grandmother always looked forward to the volunteer coming by. Thank you to all the volunteers and great staff.
