The 2021 Eater Chicago Holiday Gift Guide | Eater Chicago

"An unusual kit for meat nerds that includes a 48-ounce Tomahawk ribeye, smoked salt, chimichurri, and a branded tote, but what really sets it apart is a special Meat Project zine co-created by chef John Manion (El Che Steakhouse) and food writer Maggie Hennessy that features essays, photo guides, tips, and techniques to help amateur chefs try live-fire cooking at home." - Naomi Waxman

Meat project has excellent quality meat and excellent service. There’s quite a few meat choices as well. Sides are automatically included and 4 sauces too. If you’re gluten free the staff provides sesame oil with salt for a sauce. Before finishing one serving of meat the servers are already grabbing your order for the next round so there’s no waiting, except for when the meat is cooking of course. My photo includes brisket, the 4 sauces, and some of the sides. Sides can be ordered infinitely and they’re replaced by servers once they’re finished. I definitely recommend meat project!

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Meat Project – Centreville, VA We recently chose Meat Project in Centreville to celebrate a birthday with a group of 25 people. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special and joyful evening turned into a deeply disappointing experience due to poor service, safety issues, and unprofessional conduct. Upon arrival, the manager measured my twin nephews (age 3) and confirmed they were exactly 3 feet tall — under the restaurant's height threshold for paying customers. We appreciated the clarity and proceeded to our two reserved tables. While the food was good, several major concerns quickly became apparent: Service was extremely slow The floor was dangerously slippery, posing a safety hazard for both children and adults Right next to our table was a stack of dirty dishes and a pot filled with what appeared to be dirty oil or water, giving off an unpleasant smell throughout the meal We tried to remain positive for the sake of the celebration. However, after dinner — just as we were about to bring out the cake (which we had confirmed with Min, the manager, was okay to bring) — the owner approached us and insisted on re-measuring the twins, this time at a measuring tape on the wall. She claimed they were “a bit over 3 feet” and said we now needed to pay $20 per child. This was after we had already received confirmation from the manager at the beginning of the evening that they did not need to pay. It wasn’t about the $40. It was about the lack of professionalism and the poor timing — addressing this after the meal, after the measurement had already been settled, and in front of a large party. When I calmly voiced my concerns, the owner responded by yelling at her staff in front of everyone. I respectfully told her this was inappropriate, but she showed little concern. To top it off, the cake we brought was not refrigerated properly despite our prior request — it was warm and partially melted when returned to us. Also, the carpet throughout the restaurant was filthy, worn, and hazardous — a detail that truly detracted from the overall environment. Despite the unprofessional conduct, my sister paid the full bill — over $1,500 — and only then did the owner offer a last-minute “compromise” by charging us for just one of the two children and knocking off $20. This experience left a sour taste. Not because of the food, or even the money, but because of how the situation was handled — particularly by ownership. A special celebration was soured by poor judgment and a complete disregard for the guest experience. I sincerely hope the management reconsiders how they treat customers and staff in the future. - I got a very polite and professional answer to my review, but just to clarify, this reply doesn't reflect the actual interaction I had with the owner in person, which was quite different.

Food was good but the staff is very rude. Drinks stayed empty the whole time. Its as if your a burden to them being there. 100% do recommend unless your okay putting up with bad service. Once you order which meats waiter comes and just dumps it in grill with such bad attitude and leaves.

Hello Foodies, Must visit this place to have a big dinner with Korean BBQ, fried rice and noodles, tried most of the varieties here, every one has authentic taste. I will suggest you guys to try shrimp BBQ and spicy chicken BBQ with available sauces in this place. Also they have steamed egg, corn cheese, they are my favorite food of the day. People are very friendly, they will help you to have the best meal.

I used to love coming here, but unfortunately the quality of meat, sides, and banchan portions seem to be dropping (marinade seems sweeter, corn cheese is slowly turning into corn mayo, short plate / brisket texture seems weird, like it was thawed and refrozen). The service has dropped in quality as well. I would rather pay more money per person to get better quality. I really enjoyed Meat Project when it first opened and for years after, please come back! Ms. Kim, if cost is the issue I'm happy to pay more for it!

We felt like Korean bbq and found the place on google map based on the reviews. It was our first time and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The $35 is reasonable for all you can eat food, typical Korean taste, meat quality is decent, normal selection of the side dishes. Drink is a bit on the pricy side and not too impressive. We went in on a Saturday afternoon peak time so it was very busy and the server was a bit overcrowded serving about 6 tables at a time. But he tried his best so no complaint. Spicy pork belly and spicy bulgogi pork were nice. Kids liked the corn cheese and adults enjoyed the steam eggs. We will go back for sure.

The food was great! Brought out a bit at a time, no pressure to order more. The server was always there to answer questions or bring what we needed before we even asked!! I was not a huge fan of the loud music, I don't want to talk loud to talk to the tabe, but honestly it was not that bad cause the music was good. Was the bill high, yes, but damn it was worth it! And as someone with kids, they were super helpful and patient with my kids. Which for me is ALWAYS a big deal. Thanks Meat Project, hope to see you again soon!

Our first impressions of this restaurant was a disappointment, the sides at the table were very little could be finished in one bite. Barely any rice in the container. And a tiny squirt of each sauce. Bad first impressions at the fact that the sides and sauces seemed every skimped. The service was also very slow, had to ask multiple times for more water or sauce, and even sides that were very little. But the meats seemed to be of good quality, very tasty and tender. Spicy Bullgogi was delicious and actually spicy. The over all experience would of been better if the sauces and side dishes weren’t very little servings and didn’t have to ask multiple times for refills.
