"Mecca started in the CBD, where it has a café at 67 King Street, before opening its HQ and roastery in Alexandria, a boom area for interiors showrooms and cafés. This industrial-chic warehouse—featuring zigzag-patterned, black-and-white tiled floors, white walls, communal blond wood tables, and skinny stools—is a short walk south of Green Square station. It's frequented by serious coffee drinkers, who drop by to refuel on quality beans or buy bags of seasonal house blends, espresso blends, and coffees sourced from Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Rwanda, and Ethiopia, to take home." - Sophie Davies

First Visit to a Local Cafe in Alexandria I finally stopped by a cafe I’ve been passing for a while. The menu isn’t extensive, but it covers the basics—think congee, scrambled eggs on toast ("scrammy"), and a few breakfast sides. One highlight was the variety of breads on offer. We started with a flat white, then ordered the scrammy on toast with hashbrowns and a brekkie roll, which came in a burger bun and tasted great. Everything was fresh and satisfying. The cafe is located in a charming old building in Alexandria. It was buzzing with locals, and we managed to grab a sunny outdoor seat. Overall, a good experience and a lovely way to start the day.

Super windy outside but no choice due to our dogs. The food and service was well worth it. I'd come back next time without the pups. Chilli Jam scramble eggs definitely my fav for the day.

So for starters, I ordered batch brew, coffee, Colombian beans and it was good. And for breakfast I ordered poached eggs and sourdough which was also good. The place is very calming and has a nice atmosphere. Highly recommended

Google
Coffee was coffee. But the croissant? #4 on my global list. Best I’ve had in Australia. Slightly more savoury but perfect balance between crunchy flakiness and chewy. Whatever it is, keep doing it!

Very factory-style café. They also offer a selection of food and pastries. I love their almond croissant - simply beautiful, especially with a sip of flat white.

Come for the food. Enjoy the vibe. Great friendly service with delicious food. Awesome brunch location in Alexandria. Check out the antiques centre over the road after. Thanks Holly!

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! My husband found this cafe on a whim as we were trying to find a last minute cafe in the area. We walked in without a reservation, but the female waitress there was so friendly and nice, and helped us get a table almost straight away. We ordered the B&E rolls and coffee, and said to the waitress wanted a sneaky sweet treat for the side. We were recommended the Mango Float, which is a current dessert special at the moment (it’s made with fresh mango, graham crackers, mascarpone and salted caramel)…. AND HOLY SH*T IT WAS THE BEST 😍😍 Each bite was incredible and I wanted more! The service was super friendly here. It was VERY fast and efficient, and the food was to die for! The atmosphere at this cafe is a total vibe, and I loved the Australian natives in the beautiful vases on some of the tables! The cafe was buzzing, and we loved it.

Google
Hidden gems in Alexandria, found it by chance after strolling the nearby “attractions”. Come here if you are looking for great service, spacious environment, value and a little bit of quietness away from the nearby busy spots. Walking distance from the nearby Green Square subway station. Highly recommended to locals and tourists alike.

Yelp
Well, there is one thing that made this place stand out and that was the service. Then again pretty much every place is made by the service, and places with particularly bad service simply aren't going to last (unless it happens to be government, but that is another story). Well, it really came down to that really strong pot of tea that I got, namely because they were more than happy to provide me with some extra hot water to deal with it. Other than that this place was okay, and the breakfast wasn't bad either. Still, I won't necessarily say that it happens to be a favourite, except for the service of course.

Yelp
My wife recommended that we try Mecca for lunch yesterday and it was great. Walking in, the atmosphere and layout is really relaxing. The cafe is part of the coffee roastery, but you wouldn't really notice that without thinking about it. We were able to find a table without any problem (though I had read some reviews that this place can get quite popular and you might have to wait). We were after a light-ish lunch and ordered two of their roll items, and of course some coffees. Their menu is interesting and there were a handful of other items on there that grabbed my eye (that fried chicken burger and kimchi salt chips for instance!). The coffee's came up first and they were great. We both really enjoyed them, and there was a slight hint of flavour that I couldn't place until I read another yelp review which mentioned that a facet of their brewing process means that there is a chance that you'll get a hint of 'Guinness-like' flavour. I personally love Guinness so this was ++ for me... but it wasn't so noticable that non-Guinness drinkers would be put off (I don't think). Egg & Bacon Roll - a standard cafe item has a unique twist by having cabbage 'slaw' which when combined with seeded bread somehow makes it lighter and fresher. It's still a filling item, but tastes healthier... if that makes sense. Mushroom Roll - the best way for me to describe this is that it's like a variant on the Egg & Bacon roll where the bacon has been swapped out for mushrooms. Very nice. NOTE: there have been some reviews that mention that parking is really difficult. I struggled hard to find somewhere to park, and it took me an extra 5-10 minutes to find somewhere. So maybe factor this into your trip to visit. We'll be back.

Yelp
This fitout is straight up beautiful. Bright, spacious, and just clean...they did a great job. The coffee? It's Mecca and this is their roastery...so on point as usua. They also serve nitro brew here. For those unaware, it's cold coffee straight from the tap, kind of like beer. If you order this, make sure there's no ice or it waters down the flavour and the "Guineess" effect. Ordered the roasted pork shoulder and daaaammmnnn it was good. My fiancee had the sourdough with ricotta-honey and I sampled it...if you're in the mood for something sweet this is pretty good. I know they have a smoker since they offer brisket, so I will be back to try that...

Yelp
Pretty good food. The gluten free bread was the best part actually. Simply delicious. I realise my brekkie doesn't look that exciting but it was. Gluten free doesn't often provide too many options. 4.5 Stars really, so I'd normally give a 4 but since this place was better than others in the area I rounded up. Decaf latte was delicious (which I think is uncommon)

Yelp
What can someone truly say about Mecca, other than 'marry me?'! If you've read any of my other reviews on other Mecca establishments, you'll know that I truly believe that these are absolutely the mecca of coffee. Firstly all their baristas love and know their stuff. Further their blends and single origins are always good. I have never had a bad cup of coffee - and this Mecca cafe is no exception. Now, my heart was torn out of my chest when the Mecca in Circular Quay was closed, however, I was called from beyond the grave with Mecca Alexandria. I came here for Sunday breakfast and life has returned to my veins. As always the coffee was good - however, be warned you cannot order one! So pace yourself. Then I ordered the breakfast plate. At first I was disappointed that there was no toast on the plate, and as a growing boy I need my carbs. But after the first taste there was no looking back, I was smitten. I weird mix of tastes, but however it completely works. Just make sure that if you don't like your spice do not order this plate. Overall, this place is awesome! Completely worth the try. However, it is small, so you might have to wait for a table. Further parking is completely hell to find. But saying that, it is worth it.

Yelp
Great coffee, simple delicious breakfast. Quick and easy to get the day going. Had the poached eggs over toast, would recommend.

Yelp
Continuing the Alexandrian voyage of discovery, I pitched up at Mecca, coffee roaster and all round fount of goodness. My coffee was excellent and my fried chicken, Kim chi and mayo roll was sensational. Fresh light bun, succulent chicken and perfectly balanced flavours. It was also a welcome relief to be somewhere so spacious - next time I'll bring my cat and we can have a swinging old time. Nice friendly staff, on point all round, definitely a keeper.

Yelp
Always love to try out a new venue in our area a place where industrial gives way to residential and offers some wonderful options. The parking is an issue which is no big problem for us as we walked from home in the winter sunshine. This was our second attempt to visit this new location as last weekend after a write up in social media which alerted us to the venue they were closed after a large night of celebrating 10 years and a notice greeted a few of us arriving to check it out. Not good timing :/ The aesthetic is clean and makes good use of the open space with a few levels of seating. Some seats are a little close together and after being greeted with friendly staff and we chose the communal dining table over the seats a packed closer together. The menu is different and our first thoughts were, this isn't a breaky place but suited more for brunch. The pork roll was rather tasty and well presented. I ordered the ricotta with honey and pear on fruit bread, the alternative option of fruit bread was either missed by the person taking our order or the kitchen. Still the pears were tasty and complimented by he honey. Service seems pleasant but attention to detail such as delivering sugar when serving coffee seem to require getting up and asking for it. We are not going to make this a regular place as it left us with an impression of attitude where they note on the menu that they "Respectfully decline changes to the menu" Maybe after 10 years with successful businesses in the CBD they can afford the attitude in a new venue in Alexandria.

Yelp
OMG! Pork shoulder & egg roll! Talk about value for money!!! Not your usual breakfast feast but very well worth it! The building itself is huge and decked out in warehouse chic! Think New York conversion. Parking is a bit of an issue but no deal breaker! If I could have eaten more I would have! Known for their coffee, the food is going to be stiff competition! And don't get me started with the sweets! I hope this stays a secret for awhile longer because once the word is out this place will be going off! Currently open for breakfast and lunch, dinner soon.

Yelp
Love this place. They have a bit of a different take on café food, with lots of pickled ingredients and interesting flavours mixed in. It's definitely one for the foodies, and when you're in the mood for an interesting meal. That said, if you're just after a big greasy big breakfast to cure the hangover, look elsewhere and come back another time--it's not really that kind of café. The menu seems to change a little each time I go, so there's often something new to try. I also feel like everything is really healthy, though not sure if that's necessarily true. The coffee is great, of course. Try the nitro brew once (it's coffee but with the texture of Guinness). They also have some pretty whacky & delicious juices and infusions.

Yelp
If you can get over the lack of parking (or perhaps walk down from Green Square Station), I'd have to say that it is totally worth your effort to visit the home of Mecca. In the Sydney CBD you are a little spoilt for choice, with Mecca King in the group of awesome cafes from my list of top 30, and Mecca CQ and Mecca Ultimo not too far behind. But with the upward trend of roast works having their own cafe attached, this, the latest of Mecca's cafes, is fast becoming the pick of the bunch. Having only opened a few weeks ago, they are still kind of finding their stride, but the combination of high levels of passion, skill, and great coffee on hand, means that they have all they need to made a sensational cafe. Being located next to the roaster seems to have translated into a greater range of Mecca coffee on the machine at any one point. For someone like me who'll happily sit through 6-8 coffees, this offers a great chance to try the Mecca range in one sitting. So whether it is a espresso or filter coffee that you're after, in summary, this place is totally worth trying. Passion: 10/10 Crema: 10/10 Coffee: Mecca Coffee Roasters

Yelp
The coffee here as expected was impressive, the setting likewise beautifully understated and filled with light. We had the beef brisket plate which was delicious but the menu on the whole was extremely limited and a little too alternative for my palate

Jordan G.

Yelp
Coffee is awesome, their baristas are very experienced and their beans are Mecca beans. The food is quite simple like packed eggs on toast etc but everything I've ordered has been enjoyable. Oh and the nitrogen coffee is interesting and something a bit on the unusual side, definitely worth a try

Dean P.

Yelp
Easily could have given this place 5 stars if only I was rating their coffee offer alone. Unfortunately however I'm jot hence the 4 stars. Parking is a massive pain in the sass and a huge reason why I don't come here more often. A definite must visit it you're looking for a superior coffee offering

Tiffany H.

Yelp
What a massive let down. After reading all the raving reviews I was looking forward to breakfast here. Service was slow, food was awful, coffee small and weak, and quite expensive for what we got... The coffee was $4.00 for a tiny tea cup. It surely must only have had half a shot of weak coffee in it. The taste was awful, not only was it too weak but because they use jersey milk, it was way too strong and overpowered the taste of the little coffee we had. It was undrinkable. Their menu is limited. For breakfast I ordered the 'buttermilk french toast with labneh and marmalade' What I received was soggy french toast with yoghurt (still with the whey) and orange peel in syrup. My partner couldn't even eat his muesli cereal, the milk was so disgusting. After making our comments the staff were apologetic, but really did nothing. They just took the plates away and charged us full price for a uneaten meal and coffee. I know I wont be going back. Hope this helps you make a more informed decision than we did. Don't waste your money.

Tony B.

Yelp
Coffee is pretty good here but certainly not the best in the area. I'd say 8/10. Food is excellent 9/10 and I'm a big fan of the brisket. In the past staff have been a little snooty but I think they've pruned them out as the last time I went they were nothing but polite and helpful.

Stevanie S.

Yelp
Good place to relax and enjoy a good coffee! Had their eggs and toast. Definitely going to go back and try other foods from the menu!

Jen S.

Yelp
not exactly sure why this place is getting such low reviews. i came on a saturday morning for brunch and the place was bustling. there isnt too much in alexandria but i'm glad places like these are opening up. they are kid friendly and the ambiance is great. i love the lighting and the open floor plan. there are two floors of seating plus its wheelchair friendly! the coffee comes out beautifully decorated (#coffeeart). the food was delicious and came out fast. the portions were big. i got the breakfast bowl, which looked small but was very filling since it had so much grains. the only thing is that the food is a bit pricey.
