Highlights

Pho, ramen, and cocktails -- we serve some of Asia's most comforting dishes. Among other things, we do riffs on food that can be found in the streets of Asia. Our beverage program sets us apart from the rest. We put great effort into our cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages, from spiked boba tea to house-made slushies.

"Mecha may be in Coolidge Corner, but once you sit down, you’ll feel more like you’ve been transported to a Southeast Asian street food market. Mecha specializes in pho, ramen, bao, and drinks that are an ode to the region. And for every bowl of ramen ordered, 50 cents will go towards a community cause. (A handy newsletter at Mecha provides further details)." - Erika Adams, C. Shardae Jobson

"Mecha Noodle Bar started in Connecticut with multiple locations across the state. Last year, it started opening shops in Seaport and Brookline, and quickly went viral thanks to its boozy boba program and the eclectic cocktails. Pho and ramen are both offered; in addition to the noodle bowls for slurping, a good selection of snackable items including dumplings, egg rolls, and fried rice are on the menu." - Erika Adams, Valerie Li Stack, Eater Staff

Where to Slurp Ramen Around Boston

"Mecha Noodle Bar, a small Connecticut-based chain that’s been around for about a decade, opens its first of two planned Boston-area locations today, June 30. The restaurant is located in the former Peet’s Coffee space at 285 Harvard Street in Brookline’s Coolidge Corner. Mecha serves “some of Asia’s most comforting dishes,” from pho to ramen, as well as “riffs on food that can be found in the streets of Southeast Asia.” Diners might find everything from Korean fried chicken bao to Vietnamese egg rolls to red oil pork and shrimp dumplings with Sichuan vinegar. There are a variety of pho options; each is made with a beef and chicken broth. The ramen, on the other hand, comes in a few different broth styles, including a mushroom-packed vegetarian version. To drink, there’s boozy bubble tea and some other cocktails, as well as some sake, short beer and wine lists, phin-brewed coffee, and other soft drinks. Mecha’s name is derived from the Vietnamese words for mother and father, which the team interprets as “mom and pop” — it’s an homage to cofounder Tony Pham’s parents and also drives the mission statement of the team’s philanthropic arm, Eat Justice. Mecha Noodle Bar Brookline (285 Harvard Street) is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week and can be reached at (617) 675-7577." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Wow! This place is amazing and reasonably priced! The food was absolutely delicious. I guess the only thing that was concerning was the price of the draft beer compared to the small glass they serve it in. Having said that, they did go out of their way to comp me a "free draft beer" when I brought it to their attention. Well done and "thank you"!

TLTR: Solid 4/5. Tried this place after a friend recommended them for their gluten-free noodle option. Not bad. Had their tofu and tuna rolls — unexpectedly good, y’all. (Though I did not appreciate their approach to a hand roll. It was like a seaweed taco. Couldn’t take a clean bite.) The way they got so much flavor into a stick of tofu is admirable. Their spicy tuna was delicious, reminiscent of tuna tartare. Tried their spicy miso ramen, made with a chicken broth instead of tonkotsu, which I appreciate. Instead of chashu, had the chicken — nice flavor with a hint of ginger. My friend had the chashu, which he said would have been nicer with some charring/ could have used more time in the broiler. Their noodles are *on point.* Cooked just right. It’s either MSG or a novel deliciousness carrier technology — the way those noodles carry flavor is something else. The broth needs further elaboration. A bit too heavy on the salt and superficial on the flavoring. But the foundations are there to make it superb with just a little tweaking. Perfect ajitama. Their sticky rice is on the sweeter side, with a hint of coconut. Delicious. To me, more enjoyable as dessert. 🤷🏻‍♀️ My friend tried their Thai iced tea. I had their strawberry matcha. Maybe they taste better spiked, but we got them just as tea and they were unremarkable. My strawberry matcha was not milky enough and too sweet. They did seem to use a strawberry purée, which was nice. The boba though — some of the best boba I’ve had, which kept nicely over the couple hours it took me to finish the drink. 😅 (That’s how stuffed I was.) The place itself is simple, though with a trendy vibe and eclectic music playlist. Varied menu. Appreciate the ceiling feature of hanging 2x4s. Bathrooms were quite clean. All in all, do recommend you try it out. I’ll def be back to try their pho and other dishes.

Mecha Noodle Bar is a ramen & pho shop located in the heart of Coolidge Corner, with another location in the Seaport District of Boston. It has a very modern interior with an open kitchen, as well as many seating options throughout the restaurant. When we came, it was very crowded, but were seated almost instantly. However, I would probably not come here with a party larger than 4 due to the limited large-group seating and how popular the restaurant is. The service was phenomenal. They were quick to serve us, as well as had enough waitstaff on hand to keep circulating to take finished dishes away and refill water nearly instantly after it was empty. Even with how busy the restaurant is, it was nice to see they could continue to care for the customers. We tried the Soft-Shelled Crab Bao and the Shoyu Ramen. The Soft-Shelled Crab Bao came with Pickles and a nice sauce drizzle on it. The soft shelled crab was fried lightly, and it wasn't oily at all. The Shoyu Ramen was pretty good. One minor gripe was with the noodles, it felt a bit too stringy and not like typical ramen noodles, instead more similar to buckwheat or soba noodles , but it was still pretty good and had good flavor. The broth wasn't too salty and was overall a good dish. A good first experience at this restaurant and would highly recommend checking it out.

Great spot for ramen and pho! The classic tonkotsu ramen and the spicy miso ramen are both delicious. I didn't love the KFC bao bun, but the herbed edamame and the kale salad are both must tries! Staff is nice, but the music makes it pretty loud and it can be hard to have a conversation.

Google
Having frequented their New Haven location during my college days, I was thrilled to try their Brookline spot. My go-to order has always been Edamame to start and Pho Ga as the main. Their edamame is truly the best I’ve ever had. This time, I tried the Shoyu Paitan Ramen and the Kinoko Vegetarian Ramen as well. Every dish was packed with flavor. The Pho Ga, as always, was comforting—just as satisfying as I remembered. The atmosphere at the Mecha Noodle Bar is great, though I wish the music was a bit quieter—it can be hard to hear the conversation at times.

Visited this place for the first time after hearing many good reviews from our friends. Me and my husband are vegetarians and to our surprise they have a variety of veg dishes. We also aren't a huge fan of mushrooms but we really loved the mushroom dishes here. We tried a variety of dishes like shitake mushroom baos which were delicious, herbed edmame which was okayish. I loved the tofu banh mi, it was freshly made, crisp and perfectly seasoned. The cold tofu rolls were also not that bad. The kimchi fried rice was tasty too but we felt it had a bit more oil. They could have avoided putting so much oil. That's the only reason giving them 4 stars for food. Drinks were also nice, we tried the Iron Fist and Eastern bonfire ritual and liked the later one more. We will definitely visited again, would love to try their veg Ramen and would also love to have a few dishes again!😁

A very cute looking noodle bar with solid food, perfect for a night out with your friends! Came here on a Friday afternoon. The first thing I'll say is that the place looks really cool - the decor is modern and welcoming. Food: There is a variety of modern Asian cuisine, from pho and ramens through dumplings, baos and some mains. Our personal favorites were Saigon Egg Rolls, Red Oil Dumplings and General Tso's Shrimp. Everything had the right balance of sweetness and spice. The place has a big selection of Phos and Ramens and although they are good, I personally feel that with Ganko Ittetsu and Soup Shack in the same area, Mecha would not be my choice to go for a soup. The portion sizes vary - soups are big, but the baos are more like a starter, you may want to order 1-2 options per person. The good thing is, although place was moderately packed, the dishes still kept coming pretty fast, so you may want to start slow and then add more dishes if you still feel hungry. Drinks: they have a variety of options, including funky cocktails, sake and local & Asian beer. It was all pretty good and not too pricey! I would definitely come back here and recommend it for a low key night out with any group!

Google
My co-worker and I sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food, on a beautiful late Friday afternoon. The bartender was so cool! The drinks were AMAZING! Especially the Pina Colada w/ Rum frozen drink! The Island in the Sun was the bomb, and the Sake was good. I left there wobbling out the door. ;-) The only minor complaint was the Sweet and Sour spareribs were mostly fat, and the meat tasted a little overcooked, but everything else was amazing!

Yelp
Mecha Noodle Bar is a ramen and pho shop located in Coolidge Corner, also featuring a spot in the Seaport District of Boston. The restaurant has a modern interior with an open kitchen and plenty of seating, though it can get quite crowded. We were seated almost instantly, but I wouldn't recommend coming with a group larger than four due to limited large-group seating. The service was exceptional. The staff was attentive, quickly clearing finished dishes and refilling our water almost immediately. Despite the busy atmosphere, they maintained a high level of customer care. We tried the Soft-Shelled Crab Bao, which was lightly fried and served with pickles and a tasty sauce drizzle. It wasn't oily at all, making it a delightful appetizer. For the main, we had the Shoyu Ramen. While I found the noodles a bit stringy and reminiscent of buckwheat or soba rather than traditional ramen, the broth had a nice flavor and wasn't overly salty. Overall, it was a great first experience, and I'd highly recommend checking out Mecha Noodle Bar!

Yelp
What a beautifully stunning restaurant! It was a pleasure coming here, especially since it lived up to all of the hype of the reviews. Coolidge Corner is always lively and busy every single night in the summer, so the vibes were amazing as it was packed, music was playing, and everyone was enjoying their time on a regular Tuesday evening. We had these spicy wontons, pork ramen, and these chicken kimchi bao buns. My goodness, it was all so very delicious. My single recommendation if you are to order anything at all is the spicy wontons cause goodness, they were AMAZING. It has a kick and there's plenty of yum sauce that you can use on the other dishes. The ramen is delicious- very flavorful spicy broth, the pork belly and noodles were perfect. The prices are a little up there I will say, but it's nothing crazy! Had such an amazing time, can't wait to go again.

Yelp
Love this spot for their innovative and fun drinks! It's always bustling and the workers are super sweet. However, as someone who has grown up with Vietnamese food for a good 23 years I have to say this spot won't provide that level of comfort you are experiencing. Personally, I wasn't happy with the price of the pho but nevertheless the portions weren't bad! If you want that real real - I recommend one of the pho restaurants in Malden or Dorchester - especially the ones with "Pho" in their name. It is always important to support local businesses - even old school. But that is just my two cents!! As for Mecha, thank you for always giving me a fun time with my friends and I. Also! I HAVE to recommend the kale salad, it's such a refreshing appetizer and my friend won't ever shut up about it. For more food pics/reels/inspiration - visit my Instagram @vxn.dang

Yelp
One of the better ramen places in Boston (only speaking for the tonkotsu imo). It's a cute vibe if you want to drink and have a casual date night or dinner with friends since it's in Coolidge corner too. They also have a full cocktail menu and spiked boba drinks (which is kind of mid from the first time I went). Their pork slices are a bit too heavy for my taste but I like that they include an egg. I also was surprised when the tonkotsu ramen came out with thin noodles (maybe I just didn't pay attention to the menu but I don't remember it mentioning that). The bao was pretty good but I wish there was more kewpie mayo.

Yelp
Great food with quick service! It was a loud place with either bar or table seating and most likely a wait depending on when you get there. If you need to wait, there's a Japanese grocery store nearby to check out. Only complaints would be the additional fees for the toppings - $1 for chili oil is a bit much, but would be back anyway.

Gregory F.

Yelp
Thrilled to have tried this place out because I had just recently moved out of Columbus, OH - where they had recently opened up a location of Mecha Noodle Bar - and I was so bummed at how narrowly I had missed it. This place was really sleek - the interior is intensely well-decorated and makes you feel like you're in a place that matters. Tons of variety in terms of Pho, Ramen, Hand Rolls, etc - wish I could try it all. My Shoyu Paitan was absolutely delicious - perfectly tender fall-apart chicken, a perfectly cooked egg, plentiful noodles... it all just came together so nicely. My friend devoured his spicy beef ramen and spicy tuna roll before I could even snag a bite, but of course he loved it too. Reliably quick service - we sat at the bar which made it super accessible.

Yelp
I finally made my way to Mecha ramen! They just released a few new dishes and we were able to try them all! They have a great concept too! Each month they donate money from every bowl to a different local cause :) The ambiance is very modern and the service was quick. We talked to one of the workers who had been at this location from the beginning and he was great! For appetizers, we got red oil dumplings, firecracker wings, and sweet and sour spareribs. All the appetizers were fire. The dumplings were ginormous and had sooo much meat. The wings were overall good but nothing crazy. The ribs were sooo delicious and had a ton of meat!!! I was impressed with how big they were and they were very tender. For ramen, we tried the new spicy seafood ramen, tonkatsu ramen, and spicy miso. The new ramen dish tasted a lot like Korean spicy noodle soup (jjampong) and I liked the noodle texture and they weren't stingy with the seafood. The rest were okay, but wouldn't make my top ramen places in Boston. We also got some cocktails from their new cocktail menu! I like that they use Asian ingredients like yuzu, plum wine, and more. Definitely grab one cocktail if you're there. Mecha puts a modern spin on ramen and it's a great spot for casual ramen! it's not the most authentic and I've had better but I would go back for the appetizers.

Eva A.

Yelp
For its hype I didn't get a wow factor. Maybe I didn't order the right things? The edamame was way too greasy. There was a pool of oil at then bottom of the bowl, couldn't finish it. Loved the huge amount of garlic though! The chicken pho (pho ga) satisfied the craving, but it didn't feel authentic at all. There was barely any chicken (photo shows all of it) and it was sliced?? The broth was also very oily and there wasn't a lot of onion or cilantro. Go to a local Vietnamese spot for your pho. My drink (one bad apple) was just okay, I thought it would be sharper but it was just sweet. Unfortunately wouldn't necessarily make an effort to come here again, but would go if someone invited me or if it was a group thing.

Yelp
I had the vegetarian ramen, very flavorful with mushrooms and I added tofu. The only thing is it doesn't have any other veggies included. Atmosphere is cool, modern, loud.

Yelp
Mecha Noodle Bar sits right in the heart of Coolidge Corner - easy to find & lots of ways to get there! Hop off the Coolidge Corner Stop on the Green (C) Line or find metered parking in the area. We stopped in on a Sunday at around 530PM and were seated quickly. There was ample bar space for folks to walk in, sit, & eat. The atmosphere is cool and modern and the service was quick & helpful! Our server was great with explaining the differences between Pho & Ramen for those who might want to learn more. Both the Pho and Ramen were delicious. HIGHLY recommend the egg rolls and the Bao Buns as appetizers. We were also able to take things to go, which is also really great for some next day leftovers. Would definitely come again for a delicious and hearty meal!

Yelp
Located in the midst of Coolidge Corner, this is a pretty cute noodle bar with some degree of a trendy aesthetic to their decor. Street parking is ample, if you know where to find it - with parking lots behind the buildings on both sides of the main road. As for service, the servers and waitstaff are friendly and pretty attentive when it comes to the small things like clearing out dishes and filling up cups, inquiring about allergies and dietary restrictions, and even giving good insights on what's on their menu (which comes in handy when trying to make some decisions). Now for the food... *The Smash Burger bao was pretty tasty, with the qualities of a nice cheeseburger (with some pretty solid shallot bacon jam) in a soft and slightly sweet bao bun. Honestly, I liked this more than I expected, with how the bao bun absorbs the burger juices and melds with the jam. It makes for a pretty interesting fusion item, especially with its mouth feel. *The Spicy Beef Ramen was pretty good for what it was. I particularly enjoyed the broth, noodles, and ramen egg for their own respective flavors and textures. The broth itself had a nice mild spice to it, being pretty flavorful, yet not overly rich. The noodles have one of my favorite qualities when it comes to noodle soups: their springyness - which makes for a good texture when it glides through the broth upon slurping them down. And lastly, the ramen egg was very soft and not overly salty with its marination. On the other hand, the yolk was very rich, creamy, and flavorful - making it quite the delight as an important component of this dish (and, frankly, most other ramen dishes as well). The only downside of this spot was that its portion sizes were smaller than my personal preference as I'm typically more of a big eater, but regardless, I'd totally come back again for the experience!

Yelp
"I had an amazing experience at Mecha Noodle Bar in Brookline! The food was incredible-every dish was packed with flavor, and the crispy wings were to die for. They were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of crunch. The bubble tea was also fantastic, with a great variety of flavors that were both refreshing and tasty. What really stood out, though, was the customer service. The staff were super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. On top of that, the restaurant played great music, which really added to the fun and vibrant atmosphere. I can't wait to come back for another visit!"

Andrew J.

Yelp
I tried coming back again and I was disappointed with both the taste and service. I saw that a table of 4 and a table of 2 got their ramens faster than my table of 2 even though we ordered the same thing and our order was taken first. The ramen itself compared to many other ramen places around ranked really low. The flavor was kind of bland especially the spicy beef ramen. It tasted more like instant ramen packet with heavy chili oil and very watery. Unfortunately this place is definitly ranked bottom for price-flavor value.

Katherine C.

Yelp
*Takeout order review For a long time I have been hoping to try Mecha Noodle Bar because the interior is nice and I love Asian food/noodles. I had a feeling that maybe it isn't the best out there but I decided to give it a chance. I got the spicy miso ramen on Ubereats and got it because it had the thicker yellow noodles. Packaging was great (same as other ramen spots). The highlights of the ramen were the noodles which were perfectly chewy and the pork which was tender and flavorful. Not the biggest fan of woodear mushrooms and there were many but most ramen has them. I wish there was an egg or corn or something else. Broth was surprisingly good! Not the best spicy miso broth I have had (prefer Tora or Isshindo) but I give them credit for having a decent broth. It could be that the miso broth is chicken so it's not as meaty or deep in flavor, or that the miso flavor wasn't super strong. Overall, pretty solid ramen and I am glad I tried it. I am hoping to go to the restaurant sometime and try it because the baos and other snacks look really good. I give this a solid 4 stars. Not the most amazing ramen I have had but for a ramen/noodle place that seems more mainstream than Asian, it is not bad! If you're looking for a specific ramen place, I would recommend Isshindo or Tora.

Yerina K.

Yelp
I've been meaning to come to this place once it opened and I finally did! The place is a decent size where there are a good amount of 4 seaters and two seaters, along with bar seats. I really liked how clean it was and it was pretty empty when I went there around lunch time on a weekday, which was surprising. The food was actually pretty good! The bao (I got the KFC and pork belly-- pork belly is a must) was yummy and flavorful. I don't often eat japanese ramen because of the sodium and how salty the soup usually is, BUT the tonkotsu was not too salty and I really liked it. I would recommend asking for chili oil if you like a bit of spice and it tasted so much better! The waitress was also super friendly and the service was efficient. I would come here again to try out other things on the menu.

Linda P.

Yelp
I first visited MeCha in their Connecticut location and enjoyed the ramen. It wasn't until they opened their Brookline, MA location that I realized that "Me Cha" translated to Mom & Dad and was Vietnamese. I've been here several times now. They have Asian-inspired dishes, such as pho, ramen, and baos. I love the cocktails, because they have Asian ingredients like yuzu and matcha. The vibes are great. I tried their pho for the first time the other day and I was pleasantly surprised. Because I am of Vietnamese descent, I typically do not get Pho at "fusion" places. However, the recipe was good - not like my mom's obviously, but authentic enough. I won't be taking my Vietnamese parents here for the pho, but I will definitely take my non-Asian friends here to give them a slow intro to yummy Asian food and delicious cocktails.

Yelp
So had a terrible first date in the area...saw this on my way home and said "yeah...that girl sucked but I gotta try that out." Ordered Uber Eats as I don't live near at the moment, but I am happy to have found this gem of a spot. Over the days following I had KFC bao (great!) Tonkatsu ramen (so good) Mushroom dumplings (different, I probably wouldn't get again though as I prefer non vegetable, but the sauce great and pretty good) Buddha banh mi (so good)

Jeff M.

Yelp
Randomly finding their sister location a few months back when I found myself in Stamford, CT.....I was excited to see they were a regional chain of sorts and wanted to take my wife here to celebrate milestones in our life. I just love the decor of this place, the ceiling is instantly recognizable and looks exactly like it did in Connecticut. Always a high volume type of place with 90's hip-hop soothing your soupy soul and a jovial crowd, at least this has been my experience on the weekends. There was a wait of about 30 minutes on an early weekend night, so if you can plan in advance with reservations then do it. Luckily there is so much to see and do around Coolidge Corner to kill time. Upon receiving our text to come back, we were sat outside of the kitchen, at a pretty small table towards the back. Our waitress was friendly and quick to assist but did disappear for a bit mid-meal. I had tried the KFC bao in CT with a person I took there who wasn't all that adventurous and if they liked it, then I figured it had to be another can't miss and I was right. Perfectly crispy to go along with a pillowy bao and just the right amount of sauce, their entire bao offerings here are incredibly on point. Same with the pork belly which we enjoyed just as much. Just like you judge other places by a strategic dish they should have perfected, we both decided on the tonkotsu ramen. I believe the corn is not fresh, it is either freeze dried or frozen so that was slightly disappointing. The broth is bold and flavorful and you can always add in heat/sweetness to your liking from the table offerings. The pork also ended up being slightly tough and overcooked after swimming around for a bit, but I'm not exactly complaining about it....it could just be executed a tiny bit better. It really is the perfect date night place, especially for those that want to find somewhat easy parking vs. needing to pay up downtown. I'm excited to go back and possibly just do like 5-6 orders of baos and that's it, or attempt to try something different like the pho.

Yelp
A wonderful warm treat to warm the soul on a chilly Boston night! My friend introduced me to this restaurant seeing it's his favorite spot to show visitors in the area. I had such a great time here! When we arrived, we immediately opted for bar seating so we could get seated and start eating soon. The menu features both pho and ramen options - my friend enjoys their ramen, so I ordered the tonkotsu ramen. The dish was very flavorful throughout! Really enjoyed the soft boiled egg with the dish, and the broth wasn't super salty. We also shared appetizers such as edamame and mushroom dumplings. The waiter actually raved about the mushroom dumplings, and if it weren't for his support, it's something I would not normally order. But my goodness, those mushroom dumplings are Delicious. There's a medley of mushroom flavor that rushes at you with each bite. The texture is more like smooth paste in the center. It's absolutely worth ordering and seeing it for yourself! We stayed for several hours and the bartender was kind to keep checking in on us and refilling our waters as needed. Really nice spot in Boston to check out and indulge in comfort food!

Lani L.

Yelp
Mecha Noodle Bar seems like a place with great potential sadly lost by execution. It was a hip vibe on a weekend evening, relatively full. Still, service was quite timely and the noise level not too loud, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the food was quite underwhelming. The ramen we was extremely salty and I personally needed to pour water in it before consuming it. The flavors of the broth did not work, but the noodles and toppings seemed fine. The drink (spiked thai bubble tea with cold foam) was cool in concept and tasted delicious with the whiskey, but the boba was overcooked and mushy, doing a disservice to the creativity of the drink overall.

Ella F.

Yelp
I'm... speechless. I've been here a couple times and have left so satisfied and happy. The food is phenomenal (and they have actual vegan options), the employees are kind, and the music is fun (I desperately want access to their front-of-house playlist). I cannot recommend mecha enough! If you're anything short of euphoric leaving here then clearly h*ll has frozen over.

Holly S.

Yelp
This was my second time here, and I still absolutely love it! The pho ga is phenomenal...such great flavor! The service is always good and wait staff is very friendly. It has a fun vibe! Music is loud and there are bright orange colors throughout. I am not in Coolidge Corner very often, but this is a place I will stop every time I'm in the area.

Cheyenne T.

Yelp
We had a great meal at Mecha! Everything tasted great - it was Asian food a little elevated with some fusion twists. We ordered a lot of dishes to share between the four of us and when one of the staff members walked by, she offered us a dish on the house since we got so much!! That's what brought my 4 star to a 5 star. The decor was really inviting - trendy but not obnoxious. The location is great and I would definitely come again! I liked that the edamame was warm + stir fried. The hot oil dumplings were very flavorful. So were the mushroom dumplings. The pho broth was really good too. Had some depth and very flavorful.

Della S.

Yelp
This is a good place to go for people with varying dietary restrictions because the menu features various broths and types of meat, as well as vegetarian options (although more limited)! I tried the tonkotsu ($16.50) ramen with no add-ons. The broth was very rich and flavorful. It wasn't ridiculously salty but I definitely drank a lot of water. If given the choice between thick or thin noodles I'd always go for thick noodles so I was a little bummed that they only have thin noodles here. The noodles were cooked al dente and had the texture of the thin dried ramen noodle packages you can buy in Asian grocery stores. The meat in the tonkotsu was nice and tender and the soft egg was custardy and delicious! Our server was very friendly and checked on us frequently to refill our water.

N T.

Yelp
This place is delicious and has super friendly staff! the drinks are creative and generously poured. The food is consistently good. cons: wish they'd offer more vegan options--they have the ingredients to make them floors are a bit slippery

Olivia S.

Yelp
the edamame is fantastic, the rosemary adds so much and the onions are so good. absolutely must get. the broth for the vegetarian ramen is great, added tofu. you can get rice noodles instead of the ramen noodles if you prefer that or don't eat gluten. cute place and fast service.

Great date night spot! Mecha noodle bar is funky and intimate, with delicious ramen & plates. The people who work here are so kind & attentive. This is one of my favorite bowls of ramen I've ever had.

Yelp
A trendy spot serving up pho, ramen, and other goodies! I'm always a little skeptical when a place tries to do multiple cuisines at once, such as Vietnamese pho and Japanese ramen, but this place was pretty solid! The interior is clean and modern, and the service was attentive. I tried the KFC bao which was very yummy and the spicy miso ramen, which was great as well. It is a tad spicy so definitely be forewarned. They also have fun drinks like spiked boba. Would recommend!

Yelp
So delicious!! Friendly and attentive service in a cozy little restaurant. The chicken ramen was flavorful and delicious and the pork buns we got were an amazing appetizer! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place ... even before it opened and so glad I did. It's a funky, modern little ramen joint in the heart of Coolidge Corner. I love seeing more Asian shops and restaurants coming to this area. So convenient for me!!! The food was actually pretty good. I was afraid that it was going to be too gimmicky, but no ... I really liked it and would go back. What's great about this place is that they have a Happy Hour Menu ... A HAPPY HOUR MENU!!! More restaurants should have this. It really makes eating out more affordable, so you can eat out more. I think this place would be a little pricey for what you get ... if we didn't go during Happy Hour. My BF and I split the Pork Belly Steamed Bao, Sichuan Cucumbers, a pho (I forget which one ... it was the "Bowl of the Day"), and the Spicy Miso. All of those items were very yummy and definitely recommend. My BF also got 2 Sake Bombs. He said that they were both pretty small, so if it hadn't been on the Happy Hour Menu, it would have been grossly overpriced ... compared to other places. The service ... the service could have been better. Even though they were attentive, they weren't very knowledgeable about the menu ... and the menu is small. They were nice enough, but it would have been better if they were able to answer our questions better (and correctly) about the menu. Still though, I'd go back and definitely recommend if you're in the area!!!

Yelp
Our server was funny, attentive and had great positive energy. They had amine playing on the TV in the back. Very chill ambiance with good vibes. We tried the seasonal special - coconut shrimp bao (this was a shrimp Patty and not a whole shrimp). This was delicious. For the 2 ramen - would rate 3/5. Not a lot of flavor besides being very salty. Doesn't come with a lot of the standard fixings that ramen normally does at other places (there are a lot of ramen spots on that street). Would be back for the appetizers but probably not the ramen.

Yelp
Came here for the 10 year anniversary, which was very fun. The restaurant had balloons, stickers, decorations, a wheel to get free prizes, and the offer of free t-shirts. The deal was the 1st 100 people at the Brookline location got a free bowl of noodle soup. It was advertised that they would also get a free t-shirt but the staff mentioned they would give the shirts out to the next 100 guests so the first 200 all got something, which seemed fair but wasn't what was advertised. Still, I can't complain about a free bowl of noodle soup. I got the Pho Bo Vien (with rare beef and beef meatballs) and my partner ordered the same but with a Spiked Thai Tea Boba. Pho Bo Vien ($14) - This was quite good. The broth felt authentic and there was no shortage of meat. However, a good amount of my noodles were broken up into small pieces rather than longer strands almost as though the dried noodles had cracked into small clumps before they were cooked. The table comes equipped with both hoisin and sriracha, but the service staff ended up bringing the bean sprouts, lime, and mint probably 10 minutes or so after we got the bowls of soup. They also only brought 1 serving of the veggies for 2 bowls of soup, so it felt like we didn't have a lot veggies per person. The actual pho itself did taste nice, though the $14 felt a little steep for what we got. Spiked Thai Tea Boba ($12) - We didn't actually know this came with boba, so that was a nice surprise. It tasted alright, but I couldn't help thinking that rum may have been a better pairing with the Thai tea. It tasted fine but wasn't anything too special. Nothing to do with the food, but the music was also very loud and it was hard to have a conversation. All in all, this was probably one of the better bowls of Pho in the Brookline area, but the price is slightly high for me and the service issue (late veggies) and noise level were not great. I would give the actual event a 4/4 because it was nice for them to give 100 bowls of free noodle soup and there was a lot of excitement surrounding the 10 year anniversary, but if I had to pay for the meal on any normal day, it earns a 3/5.

Yelp
Me and my partner stopped here while spending the day in Brookline. The hostess sent over free bao buns since we had never been. The food and services were both excellent. We were also a fan of the decor. We'll be back again when we're in the area.

Yelp
Very mediocre food that is not any better than prepared food that one can pick up from the supermarket. The price did not seem justifiable at all considering the quality. On the more positive side, the ambience was pretty, even though the chairs were too crude. Service was also good and quick.

Yelp
3.8 Heard about Mecha for a while and tried takeout from there recently. Got the chicken pho and tofu banh mi. I liked the chicken pho and would get it again. It was a little on the sweeter side but not overpowering and used red onions instead of white. They used thinly sliced chicken breast which was tender and not tough compared to chicken pho from other places. The tofu banh mi was good for the first couple of bites but then felt heavy because the tofu itself was fried and the bread was toasted in butter/oil(?). The interior looks cute and their drinks look good so I would go in person again another time.

Yelp
Our lunch outing was really a bao bun tasting, because we couldn't decide on one type....so we ordered four different types! Our table was filled with the pork bun, the shiitake bun, the KFC bun and a seasonal addition, the crispy shrimp bun. We also ordered some boba drinks and a general tso's shrimp. The baos were surprisingly very different than I anticipated. Each order came with two baos so we split everything evenly. First let me start with my favorite, the shrimp bao. I was very surprised as I anticipated pieces of shrimp, but it was more of a shrimp cake. The shrimp also tasted SLIGHTLY fishy, but the more I ate it, the more I was in love with it! The refreshing accompaniments of herbs and the brightness of what I assume was some lemon, was really complimentary to it. I highly suggest trying this, and that the restaurant adds this to the menu officially! Then we moved on to the next few buns that are menus staples. My second favorite was the pork belly bun, as it had good flavor, but the pork itself was 80% fat. Not my ideal cut, but it had great flavor! Next, I enjoyed the shiitake bun, as I am a sucker for mushrooms. Unfortunately, the giant piece of shiitake does not work here. I wish that it was cut up and fried better as I image the flavors would pop a bit more. Some of the shiitake was soggy, so it made for an odd bite. Last, my least favorite was the KFC bun. This one did not work for me because the chicken was SO dense. It was a weird mouthfeel to have this dense thick piece of chicken accompanied with a fluffy bao. If the chicken was as thick as the pork belly, or just smaller it could've been more successful. Last we enjoyed the tsos shrimp, which if you enjoy gochujang this is for you! It had that level of spice (which I was not anticipating, but that was totally my fault) that is mouth watering. This worth trying if you like those flavors! Overall, I would come back to try their ramen, it smelled delicious!

Yelp
Nice stylish space with good bar seating and cozy. Staff was friendly and food came fast and was delicious. Flavors were good, but the ramen noodles weren't my favorite for consistency, broth was great though

Yelp
TLDR: quality eats Trendy upbeat inside serving pho and ramen. Servers were nice and friendly with the food coming out a little slow. I didn't have any alcohol but it looked fairly quality with your usual sundry mix of things. The pho was phenomenal. The quality of the cuts of meat certainly felt higher than the average place. My chicken ramen was also excellent with a thick rich paitan broth. I also got chashu on the side which was delectably tender. Definitely coming back!

Yelp
Have been here 4-5 times and each visit is just as great. Delicious consistently food, friendly and attentive service even when busy .... The KFC bao are ADDICTIVE... this time with thr beef noodle salad ... delicious. Very convenient if you are heading to the Coolidge corner theatre to shopping in the area.

Yelp
Shoyu paitan broth is so deep and flavorful. Adding chasu was the move for sure as the put 4 large pieces of pork in there! Mushroom dumplings are packed full of flavor. Its a mash of mushrooms rather than individual shrooms so its jammed pack with mushroom flavor. Also Love the brown butter miso sauce. Please drown me in that sauce. Wasnt a huge fan of the yuzu drink(not spiked) but have high hopes for the rest of their menu!

Yelp
I this place has the best food and the kindest staff! Me and my family love to come here for a night out. My go to order is the king pho. The pho is flavorful and rich, the big chunks of short rib are so delicious. You get a really good portion for Coolidge corner and I think it's the best pho in Brookline. I always add the tendon and for 2$ you get a real good portion of nice tendon. My mother and gf always get the tonsaku ramen (I don't know the name exactly but the first one on the menu with egg and pork belly) and they only get that and refuse to try anything else. I think they like it The appetizers are so good here too! The sticky ribs are some of the best I've ever had an you get like 4-5 nice big ribs w plenty of meat. The Saigon spring rolls are also incredible. 5 huge rolls and plenty of fish sauce and lettuce for dunking. Once I had a long wait for take out, but it was just an off night. Every other time i have been here it's been prompt and extremely kind service, and some of the best soup I've had!

Yelp
At first glance, it looks beautifully designed and a cool atmosphere. Then when you get a closer look you realize it's a bunch of 2x4s from the Home Depot aisle. I'll give it to them for creativity with limited resources though. The atmosphere despite the lack of design was probably the best part of the meal. The food was disappointing. Bubble tea: just don't. The tapioca was so soggy and the tea is not worth mentioning KFC bao: I thought it would be more interesting but it was basically a chicken tender with pickled veggies slightly dipped in gochujang. Also the bao breads were cold. Pork belly bao: this one was better, the pork belly was tasty and crispy but a loooot of fat. Tonkatsu ramen: would never get this again. The soup is thick but very one note. The pork flavor is completely overshadowed by the taste of fat which I also confirmed when refrigerating my leftovers. It was about an inch thick for a pint of noodle soup. Also the noodles are skinny which is not my preference. It's also worth noting that every topping is an additional 1-2 dollars and the portions are small. As for service, the staff was nice (hence 2 stars) but they should be trained more. Learn the menu and the POS system. I know it's a new spot so they probably have improvements to make but I probably won't come back again on my own accord.

Yelp
Overall ok!! Definitely a lot better places you could and should check out. (If there's anything you take away from this review, let it be how dry the ribs were **as seen below**) When we walked in and got seated, and the server asked if we had been to Mecha before, and when we said no, he proceeded to explain what ramen and pho were as if we had never had it before. Obviously this can be helpful if you have never experienced any sort of Asian cuisine, but being mansplained about pho and ramen from a white man just didn't sit right with our spirits lol. Made us wait for 25 minutes to order and didn't even notice they did it. The people next to us got seated after us and ordered AND got their Appetizers AND ramen before we even got to order our apps. We started out with a Thai iced tea and a mango lassi. Mango lassi was good, Thai iced tea was kinda mid, the boba had minimal flavor and so did the tea itself, wasn't bad, just not super good. The ribs taste like they just threw Mae ploy sweet chili sauce and some soy sauce and called it sweet and sour. They're kinda mid, a bit dry and a bit tough. I don't like the feeling of dry meat scratching my mouth as I chew. I am writing this sentence as I've been chewing a bite of this rib for the last few minutes. I'm still chewing. My boyfriend was the one who had the mushroom dumplings and they were more like pierogies than traditional dumplings. When I asked him if he liked them this is what he said: "So... for what they were... yes. The mushroom paste on the inside was a bit too pasty, I wish it had more body. The glaze was pretty okay, not a big glaze person. I don't wanna say it's bad, it's just not what I wanted." Ramen and Pho were mid. I honestly forgot everything about them writing this after the fact but they weren't anything memorable. Overall, I usually see restaurants as a triangle of cheap, tasty, and good service, where as long as I have two of the three I'm good. This place missed the mark on pretty much every category. Sadly will not be returning but hopefully they are a better experience for others!

Yelp
The best ramen place that I've visited in MA thus far! We were stopped outside of the restaurant, commenting on how nice it looked, and a passerby gave us a glowing recommendation of the place, so we decided to go in and try it out! Overall: great food, perfect portion sizes, awesome atmosphere, and a gorgeous interior. kfc bao: - chicken was super juicy & crispy - sweet carrots & cucumber tasted great - bao was very soft tonkotsu ramen: - thick, flavorful broth - noodles are thinner than I'm used to - not traditional japanese, but delicious spicy miso ramen: - noodles were chewy and really good - enjoyed the broth Also wanted to mention that the staff are all super friendly :)

Yelp
3 for food, 5 for service = 4 star rating the staff was timely and the atmosphere was lively on a wednesday night. got seated right away. the food was original but execution could have been better. we ordered the fried chicken bao, mushroom dumplings and chicken shoyu ramen (ranked in that order of preference). the fried chicken bao had the best flavors but the sauce could have been applied more evenly, the bao dough was solid! the mushroom dumplings were dense and strong in umami. the sauce was too salty and the textures were off (hard exterior and thick filling). the ramen was my least favorite - noodles were undercooked and chicken was dry. walked away still feeling hungry.

Yelp
Just opened last year and was curious about the alcoholic boba teas. I did not end up trying the noodles but did end up getting the kimchi rice and bao it was just okay. Cute design for the restaurant drinks were okay as well. Personally don't see myself going again unless I'm in the area. One thing one thing I did like about this restaurant is that the food portions were really big so the rice that I got it was a really big portion and I did end up saving it for later even though I didn't really like that much.

Yelp
I came as a party of three on a Thursday night around 6:15pm and we were seated right away. They don't take reservations, but it didn't seem like people had to wait too long for a table, despite the restaurant looking full for the most part. Our waitress recommended the Herbed Edamame, which we shared. It was as flavorful as she said and a good snack as we waited for our entrees. For my drink I got the Yuzu Matcha Spiked Fruit Bubble Tea. The matcha felt too heavy-handed but the boba was a good texture. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen. I hate to say it because a portion of each bowl of ramen sold goes towards a charity, but I really didn't enjoy my bowl. The broth was extremely heavy and felt too creamy. Maybe I'm just not used to "hakata-style" broth, but it didn't seem like a great introduction. We were also encouraged to get add-ons, which (I admit might've been a lack of common sense on my part but) I didn't realize were $2 extra for each one. I admittedly was warned by my friends not to come here but I wanted to be able to form my own opinion. The service was friendly, but overall, I wouldn't come back again.
