"Since its fall 2019 debut, Mechos has been in the business of introducing boardwalk-style chimichurri sandwiches to D.C. There are four types available: try the pork chimi, which is stuffed with pulled pork, cabbage, carrots, and pink salsa, and served on a torta." - Tierney Plumb

Mecho’s Dominican Restaurant Sells Chimi Sandwiches From the Los Hermanos Family - Eater DC

"Mecho’s Dominican Kitchen, opened by twin brothers Aris and Raymond Compres, is located at 2450 Market Street NE Suite #801 in Northeast D.C. It offers four kinds of chimis, including a vegetarian option that features grilled cabbage, carrots, mushrooms, sautéed onions, and Mecho’s salsa rosada. Unlike their other restaurant Los Hermanos, Mecho’s sells alcohol and has a happy hour from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with $5 frozen cocktails and $3 beers, including Dominican Presidente. The restaurant is designed simply with red, yellow, and dark blue colors, the latter representing the Dominican flag. A mural by Dominican painter William Bautista depicts a lively Caribbean street scene. The restaurant is named after the twins' mother, Mercedes Compres, and all recipes are based on her cuisine." - Lenore Adkins

I’ve been here twice now and the food is great! The staff is nice and I love the seating area. It’s a super chilled spot. I love being able to order my food, pay, then sit down and do my own thing until I’m ready to leave. I like being able to get a good meal without cooking and/or being in a traditional restaurant setting. I’ve had the same dish both times I’ve come here, it’s too good to switch up but I’m going to try my best to get something different next time.

Google
The food is hit or miss, but it is very delicious. The first time I went everything was great! The Carne guisada was tender, the arroz con gandules were flavorful, and the empanadas were so good I had to order more to go. I also loved the vibe! But the second time I went, the yuca was hard undercooked and the Carne guisada tasted very salty. It was disappointing as everything was perfect the first time. *update* The food is delicious, I come here all the time. Since that one time I went and the food wasn't good I haven't had an issue. After that, everything was delicious every time I went. The food is very authentic and they always give good portions. 10/10

This was the first time that our family dined here. We were greeted by a lovely lady who explained all our different food options. She was incredibly helpful and pleasant. We quickly decided on an empanada sample. The food was prepared quickly and was warm. It was an amazing experience. There's always someone in the family who ends up complaining about the meal, but we were all happy. Only suggested feedback, the music was way too loud.

Google
Food was great and the service was excellent. Big portions for the price. I did carry out so I can’t speak for the atmosphere but I would definitely recommend. Not from the area but if I’m ever nearby I would go back.

Google
Food used to be better. Last couple of visits, the stewed chicken is so oily & the plantains are hard/dry. The beef oily as well as really salty. They charge almost 5 bucks for a slither of cake. So disappointing. The staff is nice & the atmosphere is nice but it wasn't worth the price.

First time in this place, it’s very authentic and everything I ate was delicious. The atmosphere was great and it’s family friendly. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone:)

I used to love and frequent this place. I love Dominican food and it’s hard to find where i live. The food is still good, the quantity given in the servings has gone down on the last year while the prices have gone up. Additionally the seasoning of the meat and veggies varies and sometimes it is seasoned and sometimes it is not. I hope. The place can get back to what it was when it first opened. Try the braised pork, stew chicken and beef.

This was my family's 1st time trying Mecho's Dominican Kitchen. I like the statue at the entrance and the artwork on the walls. It's a bright and welcoming place. It took us a while to decide what we wanted because the servers didn't offer any suggestions, any references to the most popular items, or anything. They stood there having a conversation in español. We.moved aside to allow other customers to go because they knew what they wanted. We stood looking at the menu for a total of 10 minutes before deciding to order the "Build Your Own." I ordered chicken with rice and beans, and cabbage / mixed vegetables. My family followed suit ordering the same thing I got and they added 1 slice of tres leches cake and 1 slice of Dominican Cake. The food was alright. The rice and beans tasted closely like Jamaican / Caribbean Rice and Peas. The vegetables could use more seasoning. They were bland. I had to season it at home. Although the slices of cakes belonged to my husband and daughter, I took a taste to be able to write this review. The tres leches cake was magnificent! This cake by far has beat out all the others I've tried over the years that have disappointed me repeatedly. I had given up on finding a good tres leches cake. My husband ate half and gave me the other half. The Dominican cake was dry. I mean super DRY. That single piece had me almost choking. I don't recommend it. Overall this place is a 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Stars.

Yelp
Friday 9/27/2024 I first visited this spot nearly 2 years ago with my dad but I didn't remember much from the experience. I had saw a TikTok from a foodie influencer (big schlim) who went here and decided that I wanted to try it again but for real this time. I made an order in person for takeout and got: pork chimi (pulled pork sandwich) with sweet plantains $10.50, pernil (Dominican pulled pork) bandera with sweet plantains and Moro de gandules (rice & peas) $14.75, chicharron de pollo (fried chicken) with arroz blanco (white rice & pinto beans) and boiled yuca $15.75, chicken empanada $3, and beef empanada $3. The service was nice and friendly. I wanted to get the mofongo but they didn't have any at the time of my visit. Also I saw ALOT of reviews praising this spot for their generous portions but I disagree. You get a good portion of the rice but the side and meat is quite limited. - Both The chicken empanada and beef empanada were decent but I liked the beef empanada a bit more. - The pernil (Dominican pulled pork) was solid but I've had better. Some of the pieces were dry and some were what I kinda expected. Also it was a lot better when paired with a sauce (I used bbq sauce and it was good). - The Chicharron de pollo (fried chicken) was good but I expected more in terms of the portions. - The Arroz blanco (white rice & pinto beans) and Moro de gandules (rice with pigeon peas) were both alright. - The boiled yuca was okay but then again I've never been a big fan of boiled yuca. - The Sweet plantains were made well and were very good. - The pork chimi (pulled pork sandwich) was very good and was easily my favorite item. They use ciabatta bread to pair with the delicious & juicy pulled pork. Overall, this was a solid Dominican food experience that I would come back to and recommend (try that pork chimi). The limiting portions for the side and meat are what hold this spot back from being a 5 star in my eyes.

Yelp
I hadn't been there for about a year. I've ordered items online since then but didn't review. But I was in the neighborhood yesterday so I went in. This is a happy place as soon as you walk in. The music is so lively and it puts you right in the mood! The beautiful lady who helped me was so nice and so helpful! I'm apologizing because I said I'd remember how to spell her name but I don't. I think it was Neishka. She helped me to choose what I wanted and it was delicious. I got the rice with pigeon peas, oxtails, and mangu. I recommend the place highly.

Yelp
I went to this place yesterday Sunday the 26th of may. I've seen it on yelp a few times and said I would try it. Wow!!!! It has a great vibe. Place was very busy. Latin music playing families and friends enjoying themselves. They have a nice size covered patio. Enjoy yourself outside as if you were in the Caribbean. The food was amazing!! I had Carne guisado con arroz con gandules y repollo. Un empanada de carne. Everything was amazing!! I will definitely make this place a regular for Dominican food!!

Yelp
4/13/24 Our last day in DC, and we had to get the hubby his native food It's a big space in a shopping mall You order and take the food to a table. Inside or outside. Hubby wanted the Tres Golpes, but they were out of eggs, so hubby got extra cheese. We can't figure out how they did it, but the cheese was so soft and melty. Usually, it's a little gummy. And the mangu was so soft and buttery. Since it was close to lunch, I opted for the Chuleta y Arroz con Gandules. Which was good. They don't serve as much food as the restaurants in NY/NJ. I had no leftovers.

Yelp
Mecho's has been on my list for a little while. I'm in the shopping center from time to time so I finally decided to try over the weekend. They had beautiful holiday decor throughout, a full service bar, and plenty of seating. I couldn't stay so I was placing an order to go. The line wasn't long when I arrived but it moved pretty slow. They were handling customers in line and delivery and pick up orders simultaneously so they could benefit from a better system to keep things moving smoothly. I also wish they had labels for the food to make ordering a little simpler because I had a few questions about what's what. I ordered the yellow rice and peas, pinto beans, mixed vegetables, and stewed chicken. The portion sizes were nice. There was more rice in the plate than anything else but it tasted good. I also ordered the flan and Dominican cake. I didn't really like either. The cake had a decent flavor profile but the actual cake was hard and too spongy. While I was there, a lot of people ordered the soup. It looked delicious so I want to go back and try it one day.

Yelp
Food is always amazing. Everything is well seasoned The portion sizes are Great. they are always friendly and greet me when I come in and tell me have a nice day when I leave .

Yelp
Food is fine. Typically get stewed beef or pollo guisado, tostones, and yellow rice with black beans. Overall I'd say buffet quality in terms of seasoning and flavor - middle of the lane comfort food. Reliable, doesn't make a statement, but doesn't try to either. I rate at 3 stars because it can be oddly unreliable. Sometimes you go in and they're just out of basic things, like no chicken of any kind or no black beans. This isn't a place that serves up a huge variety of things, it's surprising how they can run out of basics.

Yelp
I have been seeing this neighborhood gem for a while so I decided to stop by for some shrimp mofongo. I hopped in and the wait was not long but people were definitely rolling in for a Friday night dinner. The staff was kind and the music was great! My mofongo took about 20 minutes. I was not very impressed with the mofongo or Tamarind (so I took away 2 stars) but I will be back to support this local business and try something else!

Yelp
Great food, and even great customer service. I remember going to the place few years ago when they opened and it wasn't crowded, and today i was there i had to stay in line for a while. Happy to see finally this place attracting huge crowds, i'm not surprised, they got some good quality food with great staffs and clean. I love their sancocho!

Yelp
I used to always go to Los Hermanos and when I found out they opened Mechos I had to see it for myself. The food is prepared on the spot and I definitely feel at home. The lady's are always so nice, and the Dominican mural is so beautiful inside.
google avatar

Jahaan T.

Yelp
I believe this was my second time having food from here. My mother and aunt always bring me something when they order to go. I've had the empanadas that were juicy, flaky, and savory. This time I had the pulled pork, rice and peas, and cabbage. The pork needed a tad more seasoning and the cabbage was almost nonexistent. It was just about two bites of it. Overall it was good. Enough for two or three servings.

Yelp
The restaurant offer authentic, made from scratch home style Dominican food. I went here because wanted some Dominican food. The restaurant is located in shops at Dakota Crossing, the plaza had plenty of parking available free of charge. Once you enter can read the menu up the screen just above your head. The food are glass display which can choose meats chicken, pork, beef stew. The also offer white, rice and bean, rice and peas. You can also order a la carte. the have Dominican cake and tres leches. They also offer a variety of drinks, from natural juices to Dominican refresco

Yelp
Me faltaba comida. No culparé al restaurante por la comida derramada en la bolsa. Culpo a Door Dash, pero diré que no me impresionó. Debería haber entendido la indirecta cuando mi esposa dijo que el mangú no estaba bueno. No volveré a pedirles.

Yelp
My sister turned me on to this place. Glad she did. We have enjoyed their dishes a handful of times so far. Has not disappointed us yet. The shrimp in this dish were cooked perfectly. It came in a container bathing in garlic butter sauce (I think) and sweet peppers and it smelled amazing. I had eaten a few pieces of shrimp already. Pick your sides- I got rice with beans and fries. Also got the potato salad. My sister tried that because I don't eat eggs and eggs were everywhere in the salad. She said it was great though. Mechos Dominican Kitchen is a great place to have lunch. Give them a try.

Yelp
Definitely stop by if you are looking for solid Dominican food. I've enjoyed all that I've tried. They make some delicious passion fruit drinks and they have a great kid's menu. Oh, they also sell liquor, which you wouldn't suspect when you walk up.

Yelp
Mecho's is owned by the same owners of Los Hermanos, it's basically the sister restaurant. Like Los hermanos, mecho provides amazing latin-Caribbean comfort food. The space is colorfully decorated on the inside with a similar buffet layout where you choose what food you want. They also have additional made to order items like sandwiches and tostones (fried plantains), and some breakfast items. They have a big outdoor area with TVs, which is perfect for the summer time. It's located in the complex next to the Costco so I always stop here after some shopping (it builds an appetite lol). The food is delicious. It feels like home to me. Being Puerto Rican, my go-to is always pernil (roasted pork shoulder), and then I switch between arroz con gandules (yellow rice with pigeon peas), or white rice and red beans. Each time never disappoints! The servings are generous too. I sometimes get a fresh juice, which is also very good. Overall, Mecho is a comfort food favorite of mine. My boyfriend and i literally look forward to Costco trips so we can stop here!
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious stewed chicken, cabbage, and what tasted like Puerto Rico's arroz con gandules (yellow rice.) I'll definitely be back when I'm up this was.

Yelp
We were preparing for our trip to Colombia so we tried their tostones and we loved it! Very good tostones and the workers were amazing to us. We will be back soon!

Yelp
Wow, the service and the food were so unexpected. I can't believe it. they really understand people who need good food and don't have much time so if you are that, go there for sure 100 times over

Yelp
Amazing!! Que rico, my husband and I went there for lunch. The food was great. As soon as I walked in, it felt like I was back in the DR. They had music playing and Presidente too!! Kids playing and everyone enjoying their time. The food tastes just like back home.

Yelp
Delicious food and warm staff! This was my first introduction to Dominican food, I enjoyed it .
google avatar

Celeta T.

Yelp
The food was good nothing I'd write home about but hot and fresh. The location is very convenient and offers plenty of parking so you won't have any troubles getting there. I recommend the rice and peas with the extra sauce. It definitely helps although there's nothing wrong with it as is. I had to give them a lower rating because the only nonalcoholic and non soda they had was soursop. They were nowhere near closing time. I don't know if I would revisit but if I was in the area I may...

Yelp
I stumbled across the shopping center , and decided to try Dominican food! There is plenty of parking , and it was easy to find. The restaurant is set up "Chipotle style". There's lots of seating and the restaurant is very clean. The staff was very helpful, and explained the menu perfectly. I decided to create my own platter with yellow rice, mashed plantains, and stewed beef. The portions are great...they give you your monies worth. I wasn't a fan of the cake. It was very dry. Overall, I would definitely give them a try. They have lots of different options.

Yelp
Dominican food that you can fall in love with. It's tasty and hella scrumptious. I got there braised pork bandera which was smashing.. while my girl was munching down on her mofongo chicken and empanadas.. I've order this from Grubhub so check it out in person or if ya feeling to relax just check out one of your delivery services!
google avatar

Yelp
Los Hermanos in my neighborhood=my dreams came true. Hopefully they have the pork Chicharrones. The brothers are wonderful guys and have the highest quality, authentic m, fair priced Dominican food in all of DC.
google avatar

Elaine G.

Yelp
Considering the Dominican food is hard to find as it is, I was happy to come across this spot. The food looked so good from the sneeze guard, I was drooling. I had the tostones which I recommend!!!! I also had the sancocho which was really really salty but, the taste was there. I will try this spot again and hopefully it was just an off day. I also really loved the white rice, tasted so savory. They did not have avocado, and well, sancocho and avocado go together like a baseball bat and glove. I can't wait to try the rest of the dishes!!!!

Yelp
This is a two part meal experience. Originally I was at Lowes in NE and stumbled upon this hidden gem across the street. Everything was so flavorful. The fried fish came with this delicious coconut curry. And the rice and beans and pigeon peas were amazing, oh and beef stew was yummooo. While I was there, I saw people carrying out a whole snapper dish that wasn't on their menu. The Deep Fried Whole Red Snapper with coconut curry sauce was a secret menu item that you can call in advance and pick up half an hour later. Which we did as part 2 of our dining experience. I love Mecho's! The kitchen is so clean and their service is on point. I watched from the window into their back kitchen as they dipped and patted seasoning all on the inside and outside of the fish. They are definitely proud of their craft. Yummmmmmmy! Lastly, they had really good plantains.
google avatar

Yelp
1st time coming here. It's right next to the DC Costco. Decided to go for a late night and try it out. The staff was friendly. Kinda of like chipotle where you can create your own platter and pick what you want. The food was delicious! I got the pork. Good portion size. Would come back & recommend to friends!

Yelp
I went during lunch time and it was not busy at all. The staff were wearing masks and the restaurant was clean. Coming to the food, I got the Bandera with Moro de Gandules(5/5) my two sides were boiled yuca(5/5) and plantains (5/5) with Pollo Guisado (5/5) perfectly cooked and super tender and Pernil (5/5) the meat was super tender too. The portions were huge and you will get it for two meals. I liked the option of choosing 2 meat dishes for an extra price, which was great. The food was not that spicy but flavorful. There is outdoor seating and parking as well.
google avatar

Yelp
Dominican food is good for the soul! I ordered the pulled pork and it was tender and juicy. The marination just oozed home cooked goodness. The vegetables were flavorful but the rice was under cooked. Rice is an important staple in Dominican dishes and an otherwise great meal ended on a low note.

Yelp
The day I went it was clear that the food had been sitting there for awhile. It wasn't bad- just bland.... Nice staff though

Roxana C.

Yelp
My husband and I, Roxana, have been great supporters of Mechos from the day they opened in NE Washington DC. We bring our visitors and brag about Mecho to them. We like the owner and his family, always appreciated our business and offered excellent customer service; it is sad to see a place go down hill when the owners are no longer working in it and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Todoay Monday, Labor Day at 7:00 pm we stopped by to order to go; the 2 ladies attendants were looking at their phones, so we interrupted them. We ordered a plate with mangu, pork, and before we ordered something else, the lady closed the container. We had no chance to ask for our yellow plantains. We also ordered a guanavana juice, which is my favorite, it was very diluted, my husband tried it after we stepped out and hated it so he took it back, one of the lady servers told him there was no more, and pretty much ignored him and moved on to take care of someone else. She didn't even asked if he wanted a different drink, something else or his money back. You would think that for a medium drink which costs $4.50, you would get more than sweet water. Poor customer service and a bad guanavana juice. We are considering if we are going to come back to this place. So sad.

Yelp
Outstanding food! I was able to meet the owner and he was so kind and showed me and my group our way around Dominican food. Really a wonderful place!
google avatar

Yelp
*sigh* Well, it was disappointing in all aspects! I ordered the Chicken Bandera with rice and pigeon peas, veggies and pinto beans, side of pork and a small sancocho which is chicken and beef soup. The food was bland and old!! The rice was hard, the veggies and the pinto beans were bland! The soup was nasty, again, bland and tasteless!! The pork was fatty and dry, how is that even possible??! Lol Don't get me wrong, if they would add more SEASON and serve FRESH food, it would be good. To top all that off the service sucks! The servers didn't acknowledge me for literally 6 minutes. Her and another lady was behind the counter having a conversation. They both looked at me then continued talking! Then after they prepared my food, the girl set the food at the counter and walked up to the other girl and started back talking.

Yelp
Ayudaron a escoger diferentes platos a nuestros invitados italianos. 4.

AMAZING Dominican local spot. I was in DC for a few days and was craving food from my culture. I found this gem and the food and ambiance really took me to the Dominican Republic. If you're in town, add this place to your itinerary. 100% recommend!

Yelp
Wife and I had a great lunch outing here, on a recent trip to DC with a side visit to the nearby Costco. We were hungry for grub, before going liquor shopping across the street and the reviews for this place made for an intriguing lunch spot! We entered this Dominican food fast-casual spot and were quickly taken care of by the staff. We each ordered a Bandera platter consisting of a protein, rice option and also a side dish option. Wife ordered a fried fish platter topped with coconut sauce and for her sides had rice & beans along with fried plantains. I ordered the Pernil (aka shredded pork) along with sides of yellow rice & pigeon peas followed by fried plantains. The fish dish took a bit of time to come out, but we watched them prepare it from scratch and then cook it, ensuring it was hot and fresh...so no worries! We sat at one of their many outdoor (covered) tables and dug in. The platter was huge, mostly due to the copious amounts of rice, but everything tasted on point for Caribbean style cuisine. The fish was crispy and the accompanying coconut sauce really amped up the flavor. My shredded pork was moist, succulent and flavorful. Adding a bit of their Mecho sauce and/or verde sauce ratcheted up the flavor amps to 11! Sides were great with the plantains nice and gooey and plump. A great little place for a quick lunch while in this extensive shopping plaza...so glad we decided to pop in!

Yelp
The food is delicious but I took a look at the kitchen. gross! it looks like they never cleaned the stoves or warmers. Old grease and food stuck on there. probably mixed with insect droppings. I stopped going there.

Yelp
This fast-casual place has some pretty delicious food. We got a combo plate and the shrimp mofongo. Both were very flavorful. The mofongo has a very good garlicky sauce that stays with you for hours. The mofongo takes quite awhile so only order it if you aren't in a hurry. The people who worked here were friendly.

Yelp
A little bit of home close by is always nice! The chimi here is damn near like the ones i used to get in the Bronx. Mofongo in point and i loved that they gave me the garlic sauce, i thought i was gonna have to make it at home! Chicharron was delicious also, crispy and good quality pork. I hate going into DC but this shop is hidden in a gem! Huge public parking lot with other establishments like costs, petco, chik fil a etc around. Now that i know it's easy to get there, i will most definitely be hitting Mecho's atleast twice a month!!

Yelp
Came here with my husband as soon as it opened on a Saturday morning. Very clean, well kept establishment. The food here is good, but there was some kind of miscommunication on what was available. We ordered the sancocho, tres golpes and a couple of empanadas. I let my husband order since he is a Dominican Spanish speaker. The woman serving did mention the sancocho wasn't going to be ready until a couple minutes. We went ahead and paid for everything and sat down. Then a woman that worked there (I'm assuming the manager) came to our table and seemingly nonchalantly told us the sancocho was actually going to take 45 min to make. Might've been a misunderstanding/miscommunication on our end so we just got a platter from the hot bar in place of it, but I was low key disappointed. Had the bacalao, arroz con gandules and sweet plantains. Same lady later came back to our table and let us know they were still preparing the chicken empanadas...sooo again, since we already paid, replaced it with another beef empanada. We are fans of Los Hermanos, so we were excited to try their new spot. Food here is good, but I wish when the restaurant opens on the weekend, special menu items are readily available like the items in their cafeteria style hot bar.

Yelp
Food is decent. Came in on a Sunday afternoon. Good amount of people in line for take out. Ordered sancocho, tostones, and pastelitos de pollo. Serving staff was nice, shy, helpful. La que cobró el 10/23/22 es una indeseable. Wish I had a video of how she treated customers. Cámbienla.

Yelp
Los Hermanos was the first Dominican restaurant I got to eat at when I started visiting the DMV more often, and I really liked it. Shortly after actually moving to the area, I found out about Mecho's being under construction, and I was immediately excited, looking forward to the day they opened, and to be able to check them out one day. We finally made it, and for the most part, it lived to the hype! Beautiful, modern-yet-classic, colorful decor surrounded us, and it was very clean. The food all looked fresh and delicious, and the smells were amazing. It was still relatively early in the day, so I was in a breakfast mood. So if you're Dominican, you know what that means: Tres Golpes time! When the plate showed up on my table, I knew I was in for a treat. The salami slices are thick, and the queso frito slices are huge! The mangu is soft, buttery and flavorful, with the vinegar red onions to match, and the fried egg to complete the trifecta. I was satisfied with my meal, though my only wish is that I had gotten at least one more salami slice, and plenty more onions, as I see in pictures from other Yelp reviews. As for my wife, she initially wanted sancocho, and though we got there a few minutes after they opened for the day, the sancocho wasn't ready yet, which was definitely disappointing for both of us. She opted for the bacalao guisado, arroz con gandules, and platanos maduros instead. She enjoyed it for the most part, eating some at the restaurant, and the rest later at home. It wasn't until we were getting ready to leave that we saw other customers being served sancocho. We also ordered empanadas as appetizers, originally wanting one of each (chicken, cheese, beef), but unfortunately the chicken empanadas weren't available either, so we opted for two beef, one cheese to share. Overall, service was good, especially by one of the staff members who made it a point to check on us as we completed our meal, offered to refill our waters, and cleaned up our table at the end. Definitely got that friendly "como-en-casa" vibe, which we appreciated. As far as pricing, it's not bad for what you get - a little higher than expected, especially for the tres golpes, but it's still reasonable. I'm looking forward to try some more of their food during my next visit - especially that sancocho!

Yelp
There's a limit to my credibility here because this was my first experience eating Dominican food. I looked for something familiar and I saw oxtails but as Tra mentioned on her review they were sold out, I should have read her review. My next choice was a strawberry bannana smoothie and the Veggie Classic sandwich. It seemed like a long time to wait for a simple sandwich, long enough for me to finish my smoothie which was just what I needed after walking Pennsylvania Ave from the White House to the Capitol. It came with plantain chips, they were fresh cooked and I learned that I don't have a palate for them. Okay, I'm going to work on that because they seem like a great alternative to potato chips. The Veggie Classic was disappointing as their only option for meatless dining. I caught a glance at the cook when the waitress reminded him that it was ordered and I got the impression that he wished they would take it off the menu. Hey if you can't cook vegetables right how do you think the meat will taste? Don't answer that sidebar. The bread looked great and was fresh but nothing held together when I picked it up because of the massive amount of sauce. I gave up after one bite and tossed it but at $7.50 it wasn't a big loss. There is an atmosphere of hope, I heard people saying it was good when I went in. The employees seemed motivated to serve. Someday when they have oxtails I'll come back.

Yelp
So, not great - not bad either. I got the pernil and my friend got the braised pork. Put it this way, we're both big guys with big appetites. We both left half our meals untouched. Not because the portions were huge, but they were just was so bland that it just didn't matter. There just wasn't much taste to anything. Wish it was as great as it used to be. 3 stars for a C+ meal. Sorry guys.

Yelp
I AM OBSESSED. This place has been in my radar for a while and I finally was able to go. It's a chipotle-style setup which I love because I can see everything they are serving. Of course no pics because we dug in immediately. I can't even remember the name of the meal but it was some type of chicken with yellow rice and beans. That chicken was TENDER and falling off the bone. Amazing. The empanadas were perfection. The meat was seasoned well and the outside was flaky and soft and delicious. Employees were extremely friendly. I can't wait to go back!
