Operating since 1937, this seven-days-a-week market is beloved for Dale McLaughlin’s produce and Beverly’s Gourmet Foods. Cited by CLTure and Scoop Charlotte as Charlotte’s dependable year-round option near Little Sugar Creek Greenway.

Great place for local produce and locally cooked items. Wonderful assortment of honey and herbs, cheeses, etc. with the trip! From the street side of the store you can’t tell what it is. As I matter of fact it looks abandoned. Would suggest doing something with signage and or window designs to indicate it is a farmers market.

Had no idea this place existed until today! I’ve worked at Levine Children’s for a little over a year now and had no clue this was located seconds from my parking garage. Their hours are very night shift friendly and they’re open weekends, year round as well. Their offerings were amazing- all local meats, milks, yogurts, cream cheese, herbs, vegetables, fruits, breads, baking goods, etc. So many nights getting off work in the morning and heading to the grocery store that I wish I would’ve known about this place! They have all you’d need and good parking options.

I just discovered this hidden gem. Owned and operated by the same family since the 30’s, I love the “old timey” feel of the market, the delicious produce (fresh corn, shelled butterbeans and Cherokee purple tomatoes, oh my!) the refrigerated ready-to-eat section, (try Beverly’s yummy broccoli casserole and tomato pie), the fun snacks (chocolate covered animal crackers anyone?) and last but not least, the friendly and efficient staff. Anna Grace, a new summer employee, has a smile that lights up the room; Amy is placidly helpful and pleasant. Jams, honey, nuts, pickles, individual “penny” candies, snacks, prepared meals, fruits and veggies galore-Mecklenburg Market is well worth a visit or twelve.

Google
Such a great market! So many ready-made vegan and vegetarian meals, Carolina-made goods/great for gifts. A wide variety of fresh produce, herbs, baked goods, etc.. And very helpful and friendly workers!

Google
I found different types of tomatoes 🍅 and other different kinds of veggies, cheese, honey. Which I didn’t see till now. Almost all are organic. One of the rare thing I saw was a large onion. which is almost the size of baby head 😄.

Google
Really beautiful place with the freshest produce! They have prepared foods also that you have to heat up, first rate! I tried the spinach and mushroom breakfast casserole today, best quiche with no crust I've ever eaten, hands down! I will be back! I've no idea how this place stays such a secret!

Google
When it comes to buying organic vegetables and fruits, this is the place to find them. . The Mecklenburg County Market has provides fresh, organic food options in Dilworth and Charlotte, NC and has for over 80 years. It is family owned and operated since 1937. They sell organic fruits and vegetables as well as local preserves, such as jelly and honey. They offer some of the freshest food that the Charlotte has to offer.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and lots of produce to choose from. They always have seeded watermelons and other various real fruits that have seeds which makes me happy. You can also purchase spring water from here that comes from Midas spring water which is up near Latta Nature Preserve

Yelp
So the fresh produce and vegan food choices are great here ! The folks working make sure you get the best service whether you need something specific or want to know when something is coming back in stock. I like the old town store vibe it gives. Have a lot of old school snacks & drinks and everything is almost local in there !

Yelp
Great place for fine Beverly's products and a very good selection of mostly local fruits and vegetables and dairy products. Worth a visit...

Yelp
I love this place. Between this and The Butler's Pantry I can fill my home with incredible veggies and frozen casseroles and soups. All well made and delicious, many vegetarian and family favorites. When Mr. McLaughlin was there his warmth was felt and infectious. Even my elderly Mama loved it when I would bring her here. She taught me how to cook both country and gourmet foods. Highly recommend

Yelp
I work at the hospital and recommend all my patients and families to walk here to get real FRESH fruits and veggies. Employees also get 10% discount if you work at the hospital. They have a huge selection of fruits, veggies, bread, baked goods, jams, canned stuff, ready to serve, gluten free, vegan, and soups to eat. They are so nice and very helpful. They also sell CBD stuff at the counter if that's your thing.

Yelp
I absolutely cannot think of another place that I would rather be doing what I'm doing then right here across from this person.

Yelp
Local grown, in season produce - you can find it here 363 days a year, 7 days a week. 7:00am to 7:00 pm.

Yelp
I stopped in this market because I have always driven past and wanted to finally check it out. It had a lot of goodies to browse through. My favorite was the section of premade dinners and soups. They are made by Beverly's gourmet and I just love all of their items. they had a large selection to choose from and everything looked wonderful. It was hard to make a decision. Along with fruits and veggies, they also have a large selection of canned goods. They also have some sweets and bakery items. The parking lot is in the back and there is a lot of room.

Yelp
Stopped in to replace my Beverly Gourmet Dishes, unfortunately it was expired but was still in the refrigerator when I purchased it. The sales lady apologized and allowed me to exchange the item. I shop here often so I knew it probably was a mistake. But seeing as though I always have great customer service here I continued to purchase more items that I needed. I grabbed the homemade veggie spread, another granny homemade soup, my favorite plant burger mix, and some fruits and veggies. If you have visited the Mecklenburg County Farmers market I completely recommend!

Yelp
A great independent co op style grocer with fruit , produce and a variety of jams and refrigerated pre made excellent goods. If your vegetarian, vegan, or plant based there is quite a few great options. I found a plant based burger pre-mix that was phenomenal. Worth checking out!

Yelp
When you're on the search for hard to find traditional food item I recommend checking Mecklenburg County Market. I was on the search for pickled eggs without added dyes and artificial ingredients, this was only place I could find them. This store also sells jams, farm fresh vegetables, seasonings and more. Definitely worth going to discover something new.

Yelp
This place is a GEM!!! Lots of fresh, in season produce from local farmers. They have great coffee, fresh bread, jams and jellies, Ashe Co Cheese and Sweets Elderberry Syrup. Also have Beverly's Gourmet foods- good selection of lunch and dinner items! Can't be beat!!

Yelp
I went here hoping to compare shop against the King's Drive Farmer's Market across the street. OMG people! Not only was it twice as much, but a MUCH smaller selection of "fresh" produce, and what's even worse and upsetting is that everything in there was old! The Roma tomatoes skin was wrinkly (they should be tight and firm), the bell peppers looked sick, the apples looked old, the peaches had started to rot. I couldn't find a single fresh produce item in there that I wanted. I was the only customer in there for about 10 minutes, and I walked right on out the door, went back to the King's Drive Farmer's Market to get some things I was going to get here, and decided that I was SOOO disappointed that I was going to write a review to tell others DON'T EVEN WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE! There's a reason that there's ample parking with only 5 parking spaces available. CUZ NOBODY COMES HERE and now I know why. Smh. This market should be ashamed to say they sell fresh produce. No, you sell produce. There's nothing "fresh" about it. You have been warned, people. Smh

Yelp
The oldest farmer's market in NC! I have no idea how I'm the first to review. Great little selection of locally grown foods. If King's street market wasn't a couple blocks away I think this place would be known by all. Kind of a hidden little spot next to the hospital. Fair prices, great friendly service and, a diverse selection of staples and prepared foods. That pretty much says it. The history alone means its at least worth a visit.

Yelp
A true gem in Charlotte, I headed to this indoor market on a Sunday morning prior to driving three hours to Fayetteville, NC and was pleasantly surprised they opened at noon. I found a nice selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery and some chilled selections like soups, eggs, butters, milk, etc. Any time I travel to Charlotte, I'll be sure to stop at this market! FYI, I had used the restroom prior to departing, and I happened to forget my Yeti mug. I hadn't realized my error until I was 90 minutes away, and after contacting the store, Nicole was such a dear as to mail it to me; I was able to reimburse the postage cost via a Zelle transfer.

Yelp
I was about to start the battle for parking at the King's Drive Framer's Market, when suddenly, I remembered the Mecklenburg County Market. I used to go there years ago when we lived in Dilworth. I was able to find ample parking and didn't have to elbow people to get to the tomatoes. The market offers not only gorgeous produce and free range eggs, but prepared vegan/vegetarian food, soaps and baked goods. And, you remember the old song, "The Farmer In The Dell?" Well, there is actually a farmer here whose name is Dale! I purchased corn, okra, beautiful heirloom tomatoes, cucumbers, eggs, peaches, a spaghetti squash, and summer squash at prices that didn't break the bank. Needless to say, I have been putting together the most sumptuous meals this week. I will be back to get my fix of fresh, fabulous food.

Yelp
This place is great! It's like going to a country farmers market back in time. All the produce is labeled where it was grown. They also cary locally made dishes, soups, and other locally made items. Very friendly staff and family owned. It's open on Sunday's too!

Yelp
I love this hidden gem which also happens to be the oldest farmer's market in Mecklenburg county. It is full of locally grown delicious produce! Heirloom tomatoes, big boys, hot house, purple Cherokees... you name it, they have it. In addition to the corn, peppers, peaches, berries, eggplants, etc... they also have jams and local baked goods. Lastly, the Beverly's Gourmet meals to go are divine! Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options available. The tomato pie is fabulous! These are great meals to drop off when you have signed up to bring a meal to a friend and cannot find the time for homemade... these meals are homemade, just not in your kitchen! They take a debit card. Located next to CMC-Main, park in rear.

Yelp
This market has been thriving since early 1900's and you can't go wrong with this family owned business who seriously supports local NC farmers and growers of all sorts of usual and unusual items you can't fond anywhere else around CLT!

Yelp
I absolutely love this little market. It is a year round, all weather type market. It is old, in doors, friendly service and great produce. There are also little knick knacks and home made treats. I especially like the tomato pie and veggie lasagna in the freezer section. The produce is fantastic- you can still find a fresh heirloom tomato in the fall (he has a green house). You feel like you are stepping back in time (except that they do accept debit cards- unlike most markets!)

Yelp
I love this spot for produce and fresh eggs. The owner has a farm on the north side of town and has options from there when they are seasonally available. Always helpful when I have questions about how the vegetables are grown (such as no pesticides used) or where they come from if not in season or close by. Feels great supporting local owners, too!

Leah P.

Yelp
I can't say enough great things about this place. Total hidden gem. Wish someone had told me sooner about this place. Truly local produce and products plus they are restocked daily with Beverly's Gourmet Food which my family lives off of! Best eggs in town too!
