This place is okay for a quick stop by, but don't expect to make this your regular place. The guy who usually works there is deceivingly charming and will make you feel like your wonderful and he's wonderful and everything's wonderful But he has a very strange temper, upon other things, he refused to take $0.35 because it was in pennies. He said it needs to be in a roll and refused to serve me (which is actually illegal). Is there a money roll for $0.35 in pennies? He told me to never to come back because of this. There were other times he displayed inappropriate and disproportionate amounts of anger and defensiveness for no reason as well. If you can go somewhere else I would recommend it, there is a pavilions very close by that I do recommend which costs significantly less

I come here several times daily. Always have a great experience with father and son. There is a man on night shift and he is rude and makes it uncomfortable to shop. I ask what is his deal and he always replays with an insult. I don't like coming here past 2PM. He is problematic and when I walk in delays my shopping experience until I actually say a word because he is there on some sort of lottery paper!

Best spot around for craft beers, wine and liquor at unbeatable pricing! Like my sixxer of Des Chutes Mirror Pond Ale for just $7! Also, small and easily navigated, although staff can be hit or miss depending on who’s working. Convenient locale too, although traffic and parking are often impossible. I just love it when my drinks don’t cost an arm & a leg, don’t you? Then try Melrose!!!

Honestly, I’ve been going here for three years. I love the convenience obviously you’re paying a bit more money for that, but I’ve always been open to do that. The men usually were nice there and very friendly and familiar with me. They also have a few vapes there. However, tonight I was on the phone walking around the store for five minutes trying to figure out what I wanted, the ONLY person there and I come a few times a month, and one of the main guys who used to be friendly with me or the owner was telling me I needed to leave because I was on the phone and proceeded to get upset with me that I was on the phone. I told him you know me, I’m always here. I’m never on the phone. He then said “yeah you can take it outside” and got super aggressive with me and frustrated and now has lost a customer along with any one that I’ve ever recommended this place too. Maybe he had a day, I don’t know, but he didn’t know how to de-escalate a situation and was yelling at a customer and essentially told me I wasn’t welcome when I wasn’t disturbing anyone on the phone, clearly he thought otherwise though, and he lost business for it. So don’t come here if you’re on the phone and come here if you wanna spend more money. It might be cheaper to go to pavilions honestly.

Weird place. Cashier scanned an item twice, was abashed when I called him out.

This store sold me moldy beers. I took em back the next day, the man at the counter refused to exchange them. He said it was dirt, but you can look at the pictures and judge for yourself. I said it was mold and he started yelling at me to go f--- myself. I won't be going back.

My new favorite liquor store- they have a great selection and friendly people. Love Media liquor! 😊

Good selection of craft brews and IPAs, especially for a small neighborhood place. They get REALLY good stuff here. The downsides are they are not open that late (they always seem to be closed early at the worst times) and smokes are expensive, but you shouldn't smoke anyway. Come here to get a good selection of craft beer. You can build your own 6 pack from specialty brews you hardly see in LA.

Normal liquor store I guess. I don't buy liquor but wanted an energy drink to chase down my coffee from next door. It's on the expensive side, plus 59 cent charge for transactions. So it goes in this area. They have other random items for your house like laundry stuff and all. Decent service. Yeah I'm just writing this cuz I'm bored. Don't feel like two stars is deserved though. I didn't get hassled for coming in with a backpack but maybe because I'm a girl and it was too early to be day drinking.

It is under new owner ship. The store itself is very well put together now and looks great. They have amazing selection whether it's liqiour or or food.

Please don't come here if you're a woman the old male employee was so rude to my little sister and refused to take her change I went in the store and be claimed they don't take change this isn't the first time he's been mean for no reason I don't know if he just doesn't like women or what his deal is, but yea there's definitely other stores you won't get treated that way at go at ur own risk..

Good snacks, cbd drinks, and a decent selection of alcohol. Never had a bad experience in this establishment

Used to have great beer at decent prices. Now they break all good beer into singles only and charge way too much. Not to mention they are ILLEGALLY adding a credit card surcharge. Scam and a half. Reporting to authorities.

Terrible customer service and owner is incredibly rude. Do not give this business your money, just go to the pavilions down the street.

Why is everyone hating? This store is right by my place and always has what I need. No it's no BevMo but for a quick stop for a bottle of wine or some beer, it does not disappoint.

If I had the option 0 stars I would give it, I went to ask the attendant for a price of a drink and he was extremely rude, yelled at me and told me to leave the establishment because he was not there to help with prices. My friends told him not to talk like that to a woman and he still kept talking nonsense! I never enter this place again and I don't recommend it to anyone!! no respect for women

Racist owner verbally abused me in front of customers. He got offended when I asked him about my amount off lottery scratchers. He started calling me a stupid liar that I'm trying to rob him. Mind you I was asking him a simple question and it made him go off on me for no COMPLETE reason. I felt completely embarrassed and harassed. I will never go back to his liquor store.

OMG. I don't even know how to start reviewing this BS place. What an asshole man at the register. I was just looking around the store to buy something when suddenly I heard him embarrassing another customer at the check out. I had to interfere and say something because he was completely out of his mind and he also started to get aggressive with me. I just said some hurtful true about his business and left him talking by himself. What a trash place... First time and never coming back, I didn't even give him my business. Go to pavilions, down the block, cheaper and has a better customer service. Good luck for him

Have you ever had completely inordinately enthusiastic feelings for something utterly innocuous and unspecial? This is how I feel about Hudson Liquor. I don't even go there to buy liquor, and yet, whenever I drive past on Melrose, my heart does a little leap of joy as I peer in and see the adorable woman that runs this shop hanging out. She laughs at you when you and your boyfriend buy a weird assortment of beverages, toiletries and candies when you're drunk. And she somehow makes it seem like she's laughing with you. She rings you up while chatting with her awesome assortment of Middle Eastern lady friends that are almost always around to keep her company. She is consistently happy despite having to deal with people all day-most of whom are surely drunk, annoying and rude. How does she do it? She is, in short, the shit. The store is pretty good too though. It is more than a liquor store and more like a mini drugstore, with a huge variety of medicines, snacks and house cleaning supplies. Not entirely necessary when there are CVSes and Walgreens on every block, but who wants to make an extra trip? All I know is if Armageddon ever comes, this woman and her friends will survive us all in that place and keep it spankin' clean while waiting for the world to end, Sparks cans and Hennessey bottles in hand!

Notice that all good reviews are from years ago. Barely any products had a price tag (not sure how legal that is) and when we asked the cashier he was extremely rude, homophobic and misogynistic. We left without anything and I don't plan on ever going back there. Pavillions, which is a couple blocks away has much better deals, very good discounts and everyone there is super nice.

Cute little convenience store, but what a jerk behind the counter! Hudson Liquor stocks a little bit of everything (snacks, food, household stuff, and of course liquor), and it's right on the corner of my block. This morning my refrigerator died suddenly, and I was in desperate need of ice to cool down the most perishable items. I went down to Hudson and took a bag of ice to the counter ($2.52 with tax) and presented my debit card for payment. I was told there is a "$5 minimum purchase with credit," and I politely declined to explain that this was in violation of the store's merchant account agreement with the card issuer. Rather, I went to the aisles and picked up a 2oz bag of almonds for $2.49 (for those of you playing at home, that would be $19.92 per pound!). The man at the register sighed and started muttering something under his breath. When I asked if there was a problem, he said "I'm not making any money off of this." I replied, "that's the cost of doing business by taking credit cards." He again muttered under his breath. I spoke up, exasperated "look, my refrigerator died, I just seriously need ice right now - I'm sorry I'm trying to make a purchase in your store!" More muttering. "Look man, I'm sorry I ruined your day by coming in here and spending more than $5 on ice and nuts." Next time, I'll just go to Pavilions down the block.

The guy that runs this place is the kind of person that didn't get enough hugs growing up or something... I have never had a "customer service" guy be such a douche. We were there checking out ad he said we had to have $5 minimum so we were looking for something else to buy and he immediately starts yelling at us to "hurry up!", "if you want something get it or leave", "I want to go home, we are trying to leave!!" Who would talk that way to customers who were just trying to abide by your bullshit $5 credit card minimum anyway? He didn't even mention to us that they were closing at 11:00pm on a Saturday night, he just start yelling at us aggressively. This is the kind of place that I am lucky to have near by, but will never ever give my business to again because they are aggro, rude, and offensive to human existence.

I agree with Ayelet's review; it's your basic, neighborhood liquor store, but the people seem friendly and happy to be there. This location happens to be right on the way from my weekend job to my home, so why not stop in and pick up some essentials (beer, maybe some beer and also some beer) ? They also have a cigar selection - not my thing, but for those of you who smoke them, you might find something you like here. Also, a selection of men's magazines. I am not into 'porn' much these days, but I like the fact that they sell these magazines. It means they sell what they want (or what they think is profitable) without worrying about nor caving in to pressure from these 'moralistic', 'family values' groups and people who think that they can dictate how others should think.

Yeah, it is liquor store, and it looks like it has a large selection of wine. It has a limited selection of cold beverages. The prices are higher than what is listed. I didn't argue over 50 cents. It says Deli, and I saw a case where meats or something should have been displayed. Nothing was there, maybe an old piece of lettuce. The woman was on the phone the whole time yelling at someone. Charming.

wow. picked up a six-week gig across the street, thought to myself, "cool, a spot to grab snacks and smokes." not so much. into my third week, i got a red bull to brighten up my day, for $2.89... for the second time in as many days, the owner lady shorted my change by a penny. i had already donated to the penny dish several times, as i often do. so, the first time she shorts me, who cares? the second time, i interrupt her phone call (into which she was shrieking while she was ringing me up) to say, "excuse me but the change is 11 cents. can i have my penny?" she gives me some speech about how she always gives pennies to her customers, to which i respond, "i can appreciate that. but those are your other regulars, not me." she rolls her eyes, opens the register and gives me a penny. which i promptly put into her little dish. i say thank you, she says thank you. all good, until... i asked for some matches, which they'd given me for free the other day. she says, "five cents." i paused, waiting for a "just kidding!" that didn't come. instead she gave me a smug look and said, "see?" WTF. i took my matches, flicked the dime across the counter and said, "there's a tip for ya. this is horseshit, and you just lost a customer." i know it's pretty ridiculous... just a penny, right? wrong. whatever cozy deal she has with some neighborhood regular doesn't mean she gets to mandate the parameters of a new customer relationship. she doesn't get to say, "oh, this guy doesn't care about his penny" because she's too busy yapping on the phone to reach for that last piece of copper, or because she thinks i don't count. nasty bitch. by the way, the ambient temperature in there is about 85 degrees in the summer - terrible for the wine, which is overpriced along with everything else from the stale beef jerky to the smashed up Clif bars. it's a filthy little shithole... okay. i'm done. **EDIT** -- gaaaahhh!!!! i just read the other reviews, this place fucking sucks!!! okay, first world problems, i'm really done.

Incredibly rude and dishonest owner/operator. I don't know about the woman who works here, but the man is simply put, one of the nastiest, most dishonest people I've ever met. I had purchased a scratch off lottery ticket at Hudson Liquor, and won $8. when i tried to redeem the prize, the store manager (middle eastern man in his 60's) refused to pay me cash, claiming that the lottery was "closed" (a lie. i had purchased the ticket only hours earlier). He instead insisted on paying me in more scratch off tickets! while I'm sure this is illegal, i had no recourse since he had already taken my original ticket and ripped it up. So rather than continue argue with this condescending, eye-contact-avoiding liar, i left with my "prize", vowing to never go back. there are other, much friendlier convenience stores in the area. i suggest you go there instead.
