Katy Perry Dines, Overcomes Childhood Trauma At Medieval Times In Dallas | Eater Dallas

"While in Dallas for an appearance at the American Airlines Center, pop star Katy Perry visited the city's Stemmons Freeway dinner-and-tournament venue, a theatrical restaurant where diners wear cardboard crowns and watch costumed knights joust. After eating chicken with her hands, she posted on Instagram Stories about a 'traumatizing' childhood memory: when she was very young a knight tried to award her a ribbon at the end of a joust, but she instead put a dirty napkin basted in chicken grease on the ribbon, prompting the arena to laugh at her. She returned as an adult to 'make it right' with her knight and re-experience the interactive, playful atmosphere." - Amy McCarthy

My wife and my birthdays are less than a month apart, so this was our gift to ourselves this year. It was well worth the time and money. We had an awesome time. The food and atmosphere was awesome, and the show was great. It was A little bit pricey, but well worth it. I would recommend this venue to anyone who likes medieval themed shows, and horseman ship, The horses were Beautiful, and well trained. The show and story line were very entertaining. We would definitely go again.

Here for my daughter's 18th birthday. Party of 11 and tickets bought 3 months ago. Online ticket process was easy and although our group arrived at different times the process was made easy. We shopped and visited the horses beforehand. The addition of the falcon was a nice touch. Beautiful bird and no "small children" were taken. Dinner was good and the chicken was filling however the soup seemed slightly watered down. As luck would have it we were seated in the winning color of the evening, which was very fun. Lots of chanting and booing to be had. My daughter nearly lost her voice from having such a great time.

Had a good time here overall, but it’s one and done for me. Tickets for a Saturday were $75 each, coming out to $160 after fees and everything. I was really disappointed that this did not include a tip for staff. I do appreciate the amount of employees and cost it takes to care for the animals, but I don’t want to deal with tipping at an event like this that isn’t a traditional dinner. Of course I still tipped, and our waiter Shane was great. We got there 15 minutes early and got in smoothly. I had read beforehand that the food wasn’t great and I’d have to agree. They do give large portions but my boyfriend and I both had tummy troubles after dinner. The chicken has a weird chewy texture, the soup tasted like warmed up ketchup, and the garlic bread just appears to be Texas Toast out of a box. I get they are serving a lot of people at once so I would compare this to subpar cruise food. I also couldn’t understand the actors well with their Medieval language, but obviously that’s the whole point. I think this would be great for kids, large groups, or Medieval/Renaissance lovers, but as an adult it was meh. Giving 3 stars because the service was great and the novelty is cool but it’s not worth returning for especially for the cost.

It was fun but I thought the show was a bit long. 15 minutes shorter would have been better. The people that work there were great at customer service. There is an unpleasant smell throughout all of the area except for the arena/eating area. Tomato soup...not good. Chicken, corn, dessert, was good. Would have liked salt for potato. Wanted a shirt but only had small and medium. Probably would have bought a tiara if they were a little cheaper. NOTICE...there are TWO parking lot entrances. Don't sit in line. Overall was a good time.

What a wonderful way to spend the evening. This place was great for families, and although we didn’t brings any kids with us, we all enjoyed the show. You should know that you don’t get utensils to eat. If that thought is difficult for you, just bring some with you. I’m sure they have some too, but we didn’t ask. The food was okay, but truthfully the focus is on the well orchestrated show. Being an equine professional, I found most of the performance to be entertaining and animal friendly, which was nice. I’m happy that I went to check it out. I would recommend the experience to anyone that’s in the area.

It was great! Had to use your fingers to eat! It is cold inside so wear pants. Great for children . There was a ton of birthday parties for children and older persons like us, it’s a different experience they involve us so we get our own horseman to cheer on! I loved it around $220 for two people includes meal and drink Pepsi tea water and I think sprite . Alcoholic drinks are separate they come around and ask for orders. Please tip your waiter I loved mine I wish I knew his name! he was awesome on the yellow and red section! He did a great job keeping us informed ! We came in from San Antonio Texas! The traffic was horrible but it was worth it! Thank you guys keep up the good work!! I can see a lot of children and adults enjoyed the whole thing. And I can see the horses are part of your family and being taking care of them you can see them through their glass display thank you for this awesome wonderful experience I am so grateful 🥹😉😍 I love how they throw flowers too I won’t display a lot if you want to see come in but I took a lot photos it is an experience!!!! Oh oh you go home with a photo buy some swords make it a fighting picture maybe next time

Great Family fun! Can be pricey, but very entertaining show for 90 minutes and the food is decent. A baked and seasoned half chicken, seasoned piece of potato, super buttery corn, tomato soup, drink, coffee and a chocolate eclair. For the entertainment value and dinner, it was enjoyable especially for the kids. There are adult beverages for additional cost, and tons of toys and gifts for the kids at the gift shop, so be prepared. Definitely a fun family entertaining experience!

We reserved a few days in advance for a medieval show on a Sunday evening. Our admission including regular dinner meal was $60 / person. I believe it was a reasonable price considering it included a full course meal and soft drink refills during the dinner, as well as the show. The show consists of cheering on medieval knights - you are assigned a team that you will cheer for during your dinner. Lots of excitement and fun - think of a sports game and stadium but with horses and medieval actors & sword fights. I've seen families with kids and older couples attend to celebrate all occasions! There are souvenirs and bar drinks to purchase in the lobby as well as upgrades for VIP tickets which gives you closer seating and extra meal dishes. Dressing up is encouraged and is definitely more festival that way!
