Katy Perry Dines, Overcomes Childhood Trauma At Medieval Times In Dallas | Eater Dallas

"While in Dallas for an appearance at the American Airlines Center, pop star Katy Perry visited the city's Stemmons Freeway dinner-and-tournament venue, a theatrical restaurant where diners wear cardboard crowns and watch costumed knights joust. After eating chicken with her hands, she posted on Instagram Stories about a 'traumatizing' childhood memory: when she was very young a knight tried to award her a ribbon at the end of a joust, but she instead put a dirty napkin basted in chicken grease on the ribbon, prompting the arena to laugh at her. She returned as an adult to 'make it right' with her knight and re-experience the interactive, playful atmosphere." - Amy McCarthy

Medieval Times is an absolute blast! It’s a dinner and show you won’t soon forget. I love these concept of having a knight to root for. The food is very simplified so it can be fed to the masses quickly buts it’s surprisingly good! The chicken is so tender and seasoned well. The breast was a little dry but the rest was very moist. The potato and corn were very good as well. Great seasoning on everything and the service was great. They also make sure you have a big napkin and a big wet nap so you don’t feel gross after eating. We also had an awesome server. If you want to be entertained with a great portion of quality food, you should come here!

We arrived the Royal kingdom in a rush. The servants were eagerly awaiting us and sat us quickly after painting our portrait. We were led to our sitting area by a delightful Nobleman. The show started as we were seated…it was a if the entire court was patiently awaiting our arrival to commence the ceremony. We were greeted, treated and tended to like the Queens we are. We ate, drank, laughed and cheered to our hearts delight! Our knight acknowledged our arrival and showered us with the most beautiful flowers of the land. His strong hands a valiant soul were a sight to see! The sparkle in his eyes and grit in his grin gave the sensation of victory indeed!! He won in our honor and we all left victorious!!! We remain forever grateful for his strength, courage and determination. Please do tell the King and Queen we had a Devine time. We departed in haste as we had a ball to attend in a neighboring land….

My wife and my birthdays are less than a month apart, so this was our gift to ourselves this year. It was well worth the time and money. We had an awesome time. The food and atmosphere was awesome, and the show was great. It was A little bit pricey, but well worth it. I would recommend this venue to anyone who likes medieval themed shows, and horseman ship, The horses were Beautiful, and well trained. The show and story line were very entertaining. We would definitely go again.

I have been going here for the last 4 years (once per year) and when I saw the add saying they did improvements I couldn't wait to see it. Was not disappointed, the new weapons and lights look great great! Last year seems like the food was a bit cold, but this year everything was on point, and very well done! The new story line had me guessing and waiting for more, which was loads of fun. Would very much recommend going if you haven't been, or have not been in a while.

Google
Had an awesome time at the show! We paid for the Royalty Upgrade and got front row seating with some extra perks. The food was great, the server was very interactive and the entertainment was top tier. HIGHLY recommend getting there over an hour early as the crowds build up quickly and parking gets nuts, but would definitely go to again. If anything was there to complain about it was the cramped seating but it was no big deal. Our yellow knight died at the show, RIP to him.

Here for my daughter's 18th birthday. Party of 11 and tickets bought 3 months ago. Online ticket process was easy and although our group arrived at different times the process was made easy. We shopped and visited the horses beforehand. The addition of the falcon was a nice touch. Beautiful bird and no "small children" were taken. Dinner was good and the chicken was filling however the soup seemed slightly watered down. As luck would have it we were seated in the winning color of the evening, which was very fun. Lots of chanting and booing to be had. My daughter nearly lost her voice from having such a great time.

Google
Had a good time here overall, but it’s one and done for me. Tickets for a Saturday were $75 each, coming out to $160 after fees and everything. I was really disappointed that this did not include a tip for staff. I do appreciate the amount of employees and cost it takes to care for the animals, but I don’t want to deal with tipping at an event like this that isn’t a traditional dinner. Of course I still tipped, and our waiter Shane was great. We got there 15 minutes early and got in smoothly. I had read beforehand that the food wasn’t great and I’d have to agree. They do give large portions but my boyfriend and I both had tummy troubles after dinner. The chicken has a weird chewy texture, the soup tasted like warmed up ketchup, and the garlic bread just appears to be Texas Toast out of a box. I get they are serving a lot of people at once so I would compare this to subpar cruise food. I also couldn’t understand the actors well with their Medieval language, but obviously that’s the whole point. I think this would be great for kids, large groups, or Medieval/Renaissance lovers, but as an adult it was meh. Giving 3 stars because the service was great and the novelty is cool but it’s not worth returning for especially for the cost.

Google
What an amazing evening! My son and I came in from San Antonio for his birthday Friday. On the way in, I kept telling him about the scenes in the Cable Guy and it did not disappoint. The outside was nice, especially the bubbling moat. The inside has plenty of merchandise and medieval armor and weapons. Stables for the horses where you can view them before they go out and perform. The staff was amazing, in character the entire time. The food was good, some might complain but it's a medieval dinner! Would've have loved to see more of the Falcon after I saw a NatGeo documentary on the Peregrine. We were in the Red Knights section, he did not win the tournament that night but he put on one hell of a show. Definitely recommended if you love a dinner and a show. Google asks how much did you spend per person. My son and I got the admission with the Queen's VIP and souvenir cups which came out to about $230. Inside, I only bought two shirts for $35. I believe it is worth it.

Yelp
I came here because it was something ive always wanted to do! Ive seen so much advertisement on this place and i decided to pull the plug and finally go and im so happy i did! I went with my spouse and my sister and we had the best time ever! As soon as you walk in and check in they take tour picture so you have to be picture ready before walking in. Seats are given first come first serve, unless you buy the expensive option of ticket, but we were seated in a fairly good section. The food was good but i wouldn't say its the best but i understand the averageness considering how many people need to get fed at the same time. There was no forks, but i saw online you can always ask for some. The section we got was the black one, it really doesnt matter where you sit i feel like they are all good sections. It was loud and so fun to be chanting eith your section.

Yelp
Really love this experience. Me and my boyfriend went to celebrate our birthdays. I got the upgraded VIP royalty which was just priority seating. It was first come first serve and I bought a knighting ceremony for my bf. The ceremony includes meeting the king and queen, being knighted, taking pictures, they announce your title for everyone to cheer too and also announce a happy birthday to the crowd before the show starts. He loved it. You also gift a small gift for the ceremony and can upgrade the gift you want for a discounted charge. The souvenirs aren't cheap.. so if you expect to buy anything be prepared to spend money. Over all we spent about $150 on 3 items. The food - my bf got the regular dinner which was chicken a potato, corn, coffee, a soda, and a dessert. The chicken was super dried. The dessert was overly sweet and the coffee had no flavor. I got a vegan meal (which was also gluten free) - which was a 3 bean soup that also had rice, carrots and potatoes. It was really good! I also got hummus and carrots, celery. For dessert they have me an Italian ice. I also got the potato and corn and coffee. The potato was well seasoned and so was the corn. I really enjoyed my meal. The show was great which has a story line if you pay attention. It was about 2 hours long. There wasn't a wow moment for me but it was nice to experience this once. I also loved how everyone stayed in character even when I needed to ask for directions or accommodations due to my food restrictions. The only thing I didn't like were how close the seats were together. There is no personal space. But I do feel like everyone should experience this at least once

Yelp
Booking it online was simple. I suggest going early to see everything like the pre show, the falcon up close and personal, the horses, and staying afterwards to meet the knights. We went early not to miss anything and to take as many pictures as we can. I must say the adults were more into it then the kids. Perhaps since we went after 7pm. I must say that my family experienced some racism from one of the servers. Where he assumed our race and said something in passing to another server expecting to be out of earshot. Since you're a minority yourself shouldn't you know better? The manager was called and they assured us that he would be moved to a different area. Since we were celebrating a birthday a shoutout was given to appease our group. Slices of cake were given to us as well. Not much else was done for us. I'm not sure what happened to the employee afterwards. Everyone else was super nice. But I feel like they should do some staff training on inclusivity, and what is and isn't allowed to be said around your customers.

Yelp
Highly recommend coming with a group of friends or bring your kids. Such an entertaining activity and the knights are all so talented. You really are transformed back in time. The food is medieval themed and is decent. The drinks are good though. Very on theme. Would definitely come back for a good time. Parking can be a little hard but if you time it after a show, there's plenty of room.

Yelp
The show was great. The food was good. We had fun. The only reason I have it three stars was about the horses. They were using bits on the horses and they were drooling and were noticeably uncomfortable. This somewhat ruined the show for us. I am not a PETA guy by any means. I am a MAGA guy but to me this was really sad to see the horses uncomfortable. They looked miserable.

Yelp
My friend invited me to Medieval Times and I said yes without looking this up. Pleasantly surprised, but I really had no idea what to expect! When you first arrive, you will have the opportunity to buy add ons, take pictures, and visit the gift shop or bar. You are let into the arena and sorted into teams to cheer for. With live animals in the show, I was happy to find that the arena didn't smell bad at all. The first half of the program was really just a warm up; I couldn't always understand what was being said or who was "winning". This is dinner and a show, so the meal is served while you are watching the program. As others have mentioned, there are no utensils, so if this gives you pause bring plastic or wet wipes. Some napkins and wipes are provided. Our waitress Avery did a great job of getting everything out! The second half is where things start heating up, so you'll have to see it yourself to know what happens!

Yelp
High quality entertainment and acceptable service. I believe I got my money's worth for this unique experience on a Friday night 8 pm show in early April. I recommend. Details below. It's been 30 years since my last visit and it's a fun experience. Our party of five purchased tickets in advanced online and there were plenty of sets available for walk ups. We arrived 45 minutes early, but really did not have to because we had to wait in the lobby until the door is opened at 8 PM. When seated, the courses came out one by one. The final entrée was served at 8:40. So, know that it takes a while The entertainment is top-notch. The performers really do have to do a lot to keep the entertainment flowing smoothly. It's not perfect, but considering everything they have to work with, you have to appreciate all the effort that goes through to make an incredible show especially working with live animals. Your positive attitude and participation enhances the experience. It is true. The servers are not readily available because they are making food runs. So if you need an extra napkin or more beverage, they're not available there for you to ask because they're making food runs. That's just how the service runs. Cocktails orders are taken twice during the show. Beer and wine are decent price. Free parking. Police officers are on site. Lots of souvenir and picture options. But the crown for dinnerware is free and totally fine. Price does not server tip.

Yelp
Medieval Times is kind of a mashup of Scarborough Faire and Cineopolis in that people in costumes put on a show as you sit back and watch while dining on a rustic meal. Despite the fact that my last visit was nearly 15 years ago, I only noticed a couple of changes. The first one being the absence of the torture museum, which is unfortunate because it was interesting and helped to pass the time before the dinner and show started. Now, there are just gift shops and/or bars to occupy your time as well as a viewing area to get a behind the scenes glimpse of the horses. Also, they weren't taking souvenir photos, but that was most likely due to us being there on a day designated for school field trips. Understandably, people have this assumption that the food will be substandard at a gimmicky/touristy place such as this. However, it's actually decent quality and quite tasty. Our meal consisted of roasted chicken, half of a roasted potato, corn on the cob, garlic bread and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. Bottled water was also provided to wash it all down. Again, we were there for a school field trip at lunch time, so I'm sure it was slightly different than the regular dinner menu. As other Yelpers have suggested, I brought plastic utensils, just in case, but they weren't really needed. My package of wet wipes, however, did come in handy. The jousting, sword fighting and falcon performance were entertaining and engaging for all ages. The kids especially got into cheering for their knights. There was even some audience participation involving the knights riding around looking for swooning fans to bestow their flowers and scarves upon. Although there are online coupons and group discounts available, a trip here will still set you back quite a bit after all is said and done. Just expect to spend big bucks then maybe it won't detract too much from the fun.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised by how much fun I had here! It's definitely overpriced lol but it's still very much worth doing once. I was very happy with the portion size of the meal. The rotisserie chicken was well seasoned and massive. The potato and corn were also seasoned really well. Tomato soup and garlic bread were clearly frozen store bought vibes but still yummy. The dessert unfortunately was pretty bad- the eclair tasted freezer burned and bland. I'd recommend swapping for the Italian ice if they let you. Our server did a great job remembering the gluten free/vegetarian accommodations for my group and was super kind and fast. The drinks are expensive but you can get a pretty good quality glass to take home as a souvenir. The entire castle is very immersive and while the show is corny at times it's done well!

Yelp
This is a great one-time experience for the family. I don't think you would get as much joy if you came more than every two years but it's definitely a fun dinner and show experience. The coolest parts are the live horses and the fact that every seat is a good seat. The dinner portion is decent food - nothing extravagant. The most interesting part is there are no utensils. You drink the soup from the bowl with your hands. You eat the chicken on the bone with your hands. Make sure you wash your hands before sitting down! The show was fun. The sound quality could have been a bit better as there are a lot of speeches and talking and it starts to run together sound wise but you don't really need to listen to the actors at all to have a good time because there is constantly something going on in the arena. My favorite part was the jousting and stunt choreography. My least favorite part was the cost of drinks and the very in-your-face shopping element to the show (there are constantly employees walking around with light up things to purchase and they tell you to arrive an hour early only to actually let you in to sit 10-15 minutes before the show when the only thing you can do is buy merch or drinks before the show).
google avatar

Luis G.

Yelp
The staff are always in character when addressing you. They have a good selection of memorabilia. The show is very entertaining and the food taste very good. The area is decorated in a nice way to show who is friend and foe.

Yelp
I've been to the Medieval Times in Buena Park, California before in 2019 so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. My experience here in Texas was basically identical with the one I experienced before in California. Line was already pretty long ~1 hour before the show. After you check in, they assign you your team by crown color and you sit at your assigned spot with your team. Throughout the show, they bring drinks and a full-course meal. My expectations were pretty low for the food, but it ended up being better than I remember! I was worried that the food would be cold with them serving one-by-one but most of it came pretty hot! Overall it's a pretty cool one-time experience for those who have never been. FYI they don't provide utensils and you eat with your hands. They provide moist towelettes to wipe hands.

Yelp
We decided at the last minute to go so we arrived about 40 minutes before start time. There was already a line but it moved relatively fast. Once in we had to wait until it was time to actually enter the "arena", but it wasn't a long wait. Once in and seated our server came up to our table, introduced himself and told us what to expect. He then came around with pitchers of drinks. I believe it was water, lemonade, tea and soda. But no diet soda. Who doesn't have diet soda? He did say someone from the bar would come by if we wanted an alcoholic drink. I planned to order a glass of wine but the bartender didn't come by until after we had been seated about 40 minutes Because the server had already brought out tomato bisque and garlic bread I decided to just save money and drink water. Maybe they save money not offering diet soda? Dinner consisted of half a grilled chicken, potato and a small ear of corn. Since it's medieval times no utensils are provided. I get it, but how messy to eat a greasy chicken with your fingers. And you're given one napkin and a wet wipe. The chicken was good. I really liked the potato. The corn was alright. The biggest disappoint was dessert. It was a tiny chocolate eclair. The kind that you buy from the grocery store in the frozen section. It wasn't good. A bit on the soggy side. The show it self is pretty good. Beautiful horses. It had been years since I had been to Medieval Times. Last time in Myrtle Beach. I'm sure it will be years before I go back.

Yelp
So much fun! We've been here probably almost a dozen times. Not gonna lie, the show is a bit campy, but still a lot of fun. The falcon and the horses are amazing! The food is pretty darn good and you get a lot. The fare hasn't changed much, but we've typically gotten 1/2 roasted chicken, 1/2 corn cob, 1/2 baked potato, Texas toast, tomato soup, and a small eclair. There are upgrades to get a slice of cake instead. I think there is a vegetarian option and a gluten free option as well. Be prepared to eat like a barbarian (with your bare hands). The bar drinks are a bit pricey, but a large drink nets you a souvenir cup as well. Like I said, it's a lot of fun and definitely a memorable experience!
google avatar

Ashley L.

Yelp
If you go in expecting culinary amazement or a Cirque du Soleil/Broadway level show experience, it's time to check your expectations. This place is in business because it does one show model (the subpar medieval knights tournament) with one basic meal. And it does it WELL with reliable customer service and intense nostalgia that you can share with your friends, significant other, or experience with your kids. Will you get a mouth full of dust with your drinkable tomato soup? It's possible. But it's part of the ambiance! But you'll smile and laugh hard and love cheering for your knight and have so much fun that you really won't care much about the fact that you can repeat the basic meal with a Costco chicken and some other basic sides. Because what you can't repeat is the feeling you get from the excitement, especially when you wear or waive one of those light up toys with pride! Don't forget a souvenir! It's worth the price for the smiles later!

Yelp
This place was amazing. The performance was amazing. The staff was amazing. The food was good. The corn was amazing
google avatar

Soo L.

Yelp
Purely based on the food, okay. The memorable foods were the garlic toast and the corn. Chicken was meh and the rest were (eg the tomato soup was on the lukewarm side). I do understand that it's more for the experience than anything. But to get a refill on drips after all the food was served was a bit too much. Was super thirsty. Of course, has fun and the crowd was really into it.

Yelp
Came with my sister and the kids to celebrate my birthday, and we had a blast! The kids absolutely loved it. The staff was so friendly and interactive. I loved how everything was decorated and very clean/neat. The horses are definitely well taken care of and the actors were really great as well. The food was actually pretty good! Everything was seasoned really well and the chicken was juicy! Overall a great and fun way to celebrate.

Yelp
In Dallas for a work conference, my husband and I decided it was the perfect chance to visit Medieval Times. We booked online in advance and waited for the day. My husband and I brought our baby. Children 3 and under are free as long as they sit on an adult's lap and share the meal. Our tickets were for the 7:00 PM show time and the doors open an hour early. We got there around 5:50 and the line was already starting to wrap around the parking lot. The doors opened shortly after and the line was moving rather quickly. Once inside, we headed to the register, gave our order number, got our team color/table assignments. They give you time to check out the gift shop, get drinks from the bar, and have knighting ceremonies (if you've paid for that.) They start to call you to your seats by teams and then your server comes by to explain a few things and take your drink order. FYI: You will NOT get utensils. This is an eat with your hands experience. If you don't like that. Being your own utensils. The menu has been the same, or at least mostly, for YEARS. The servers walk by giving you each item piece by piece. The menu is (usually) as follows: Tomato Bisque Toasted Garlic Bread Roasted Chicken Sweet Buttered Corn Herb-Basted Potato Dessert of some sort (ours was an eclair) Coffee There are also people walking by selling light up swords, scepters, and other light-up things, as well as someone from the bar taking orders. The show is great. Everyone involved is very dedicated to what they do. Our waitress informed us that one of the knights has been there for at least 21 years. The over-all experience was really cool. From the outside to the inside, it's a medieval experience. There's even a mote. We didn't go all out and get all the extras, but we did get the picture that they took of us before dinner. They have special accommodations for disabled people, but you have to call ahead since that space is limited. They also come through and ask if you need vegetarian/vegan or allergy accommodations.

Yelp
Went this past Saturday with my 3 year old for her birthday. She loved everything about it! Worth the additional charge for the Knighting ceremony. LONG LIVE THE QUEEN! she was so sweet and kind to her. We went at 5 and the place was packed. I recommend coming early. Best part was, our Knight tossed her the rose!

Yelp
Fantastic time with Jess during the show! Great service and helped us in a timely manner! We will recommend her to anyone!

Yelp
What is there not to love about Medieval Times? Entertainment? Good Food? Eating with Hands? Drama? Hilarity? Showmanship? Dancing Animals? There are usually promo codes for a few bucks off so find those. Sure, it's not real, but get into it and it'll be a good time. Go at least once in your life.
google avatar

Yelp
The show was epic and the service was ON IT. The food was filling and seasoned well. You get garlic bread, tomato bisque soup,a potato, half of a rotisserie chicken, corn on the cob, desert at the end. You get a glass to take home with any drink you purchase so that's fun. The gift shop was insane there was something to look at every direction! People walk around with fun light up toys so we obviously to get a light up axe. Where you sit is the "team" you are on, so when the jousters come out, you cheer for the color they are wearing based of your seating section! The ambience was awesome because hello medieval time all over! We went for a date on a trip here. Even if you are not into this theme, you will still have an awesome time. Great for all ages and something fun and different to do! I'd recommend getting there early to figure out the inside of the arena a bit and because it's just so busy and full of people!

Yelp
A 10 out of 10 experience! Highly recommend going at least once in your life or if you're near the Dallas area. The ambiance and atmosphere are amazing and the show was spectacular! The food is pretty good and you get to eat with your hands while you watch the spectacles. The wait staff were extremely attentive and funny. Overall a very fun experience!

Yelp
Complete blast from beginning to end. The food was actually very good and the dessert was delicious. The entertainment is why you go and it's a blast to see these knights show off skills.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting which made my experience that much more enjoyable. I am not much of a Medeviel person but the show and food was absolutely splendid. Everybody went out of their way to ensure we had a great time. I would certainly recommend this experience to anyone in the Dallas TX area.
google avatar

Tierra T.

Yelp
This was my first experience here and it was phenomenal. I was pleasantly surprised that it smelled fresh in the building and in the actual arena. That was my major concern! Your hands are your utensils, so bring your own if that bothers you. I was also amazed at the quality of the food. I didn't expect much but the rotisserie chicken was juicy! And they serve each person a whole chicken. Again I couldn't believe that it didn't smell like horse in the arena. The King deserves a raise for the level of enthusiasm he gave! He's like thunder. My family and I had a great time!
google avatar

Yelp
Have always been a big fan of Medieval Times. My wife and I took our nephews here and they absolutely loved it. The service was fast, food excellent but overall the experience of the entire show had the whole place excited.

Yelp
I don't get it y'all, I mean I guess I'm glad we did it but it for us it dragged on. I think our brains were bored by how slow it moved, everything took forever to get to the point. The show could have been 30 min shorter and been more interesting. It was hard for the kids and us to understand, the volume is so loud it's hard to hear if that makes sense. Then with the old time talk most of us didn't really get what was happening or what to watch. The food, my kids wouldn't eat anything, one said the chicken was too slimy, the soup was nasty and I'm totally a soup person. We must have dropped $300 and all left hungry but the end was pretty cool. It was super fun cheering for the team and picking. Anew favorite when ours lost. In the end we have some new memories but we won't be back. Maybe if they made a couple of options for food but I know they won't, it's a chain and they sell out so why would they?
google avatar

Teyah S.

Yelp
I've been wanting to experience Medieval Times for years and was pleasantly surprised when my partner took me there for date night! We had the VIP experience which included expedited entrance and lower level seating. There's a full bar with drink specials or they would make any of the standards. You can even buy wine by the bottle which is what we opted to do. They'll open the bottle and you can take it to your reserved seat. What was great about the lower level seating is that the was an empty space in between which plenty of arm room for patrons. You didn't have to worry about being squeezed beside someone while enjoying your dinner. Each section also had a waiter where you could order drinks. The menu was a napkin that listed the dinner courses which was cute. Now, I've heard the food was good here but you never know what to expect. But I've got to say, it surpassed my expectations. The tomate bisque with garlic toast came first followed by the half roasted chicken with a baby corn and half crisp baked potato. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection. I had no qualms about eating with my hands and neither did anyone else! Even the chocolate eclair (while I would've preferred it warm), was a nice pairing with the after dinner coffee. The show itself was good! Even if you're not into Medieval history it was definitely entertaining and full of action. I'd recommend this for anyone who wants to do something different than you average dinner and a movie. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
This experience was one of a kind! Depending on the package you choose, you'll be seated on a colored team and cheering for your own knight. The show lasts for about two hours with the servers coming around throughout the show to distribute the food. We ate with our hands for the utensils. The area was well decorated and a wonderful ambiance.

Yelp
The moment we got in, everything felt medieval. The tables, the chairs, the decoration. There are several spots that are IG worth. When we got inside, there was a very particular and potent smell, it didn't smell like animal soil or anything dirty, it was just distinctive and I was not very comfortable with The play itself was fun, but it was a bit long. There was some dialogue, monologues, and games/fights to honor the queen. My older kids were not super interested. When you buy your tickets, the option of having each child knighted costs about $35. In all honesty, I don't think that was worth it. They just get into this area where a queen taps a sword on each of their shoulders and then they call them out loud and that's it. We tried it once, we will not be visiting again. Unfortunately, it wasn't as exciting for us as I thought it was going to be.

Yelp
I absolutely love to bring people that have not been to this amazing dinner show. I am there doorway to the magical world of medieval times this particular trip I took my nephew, my sister and brother, brother-in-law. No matter what's city or state. It's always an amazing show, the food still slaps, for it to be a realistic leap back in time. Getting into character and eating with your hands It's just primal and normal. I love it, I've gone a few years on my birthday in California and different states and the crew is just always enjoying their work. I love that they make it a new experience every time. Good job guys 5 stars

Yelp
The service was super fast considering how many people are there. If you have kids or love a good jousting show, this would be the place for you. They have a gift shop that has the neatest selections. The food is average mostly- baked chicken, bread, tomato soup, corn on the cob, and some very yummy potato wedges. The inside looked like an arena with stadium seating so I felt like everyone had a good seat to see the show. It is a little expensive so prepare yourself for a price around $45 a person.

Yelp
We took a group of 11 and really enjoyed the entire experience. Our grandchildren loved watching the show and we all enjoyed the meal and theatrical production. A good time. We recommend you upgrade to royalty or queen seating as it makes a big difference in the view.

Yelp
We all had a really good time! My son absolutely loved it! Very entertaining. Food was good. Have to agree with the other reviews on the dessert tho, definitely still partly frozen. Service was good. I will advise that if you have kiddos that don't necessarily want to eat their chicken with their fingers, I would bring plastic silverware with you as a back up that you can just throw away. They do not have them handy. Show was entertaining and better than we remember it. The white horses were beautiful! Best of all, it didn't smell like it use to a couple years ago. Yay!!! Swords for the kids range around $20 to $35 dollars. Cocktails however are super overpriced!! You can save by opting out of the souvenir cups. If you're like us, who already have a few from years ago and don't need anymore. Bartender did tell me if you bring your cups from previously they will refill for a discounted price tho!

Yelp
An interesting place to experience once. The entire show takes about 2 hours, and the first 45 minutes are fairly boring because it's mostly just people talking in medieval vocabulary that can be somewhat difficult to understand because of how the sound system distributes the sound throughout the room. Little kids would probably have no idea what is going on in terms of the plot. As other reviews have stated, no utensils are offered, but everything is mostly meant to be eaten with your hands anyway, so I didn't mind it. Just make sure you wash your hands before eating, and maybe bring a sanitizing hand wipe or two. During the show, the servers will bring out the food and serve them to you saying medieval themed names for the food. For example, tomato bisque is "dragon's blood" and eclairs are "dragon tails". The four drink options during dinner are water, unsweetened tea, powdered lemonade, and Pepsi. The servers will offer one refill during the experience. At the end, they will walk around with to-go boxes, so don't feel pressured to finish all your food. Before the show begins, there are alcoholic options for purchase at the bars outside the seating area, and there will also be someone walking around during dinner if you'd like to purchase more alcohol. The show itself can be incredibly cheesy with the fake duels between the knights. It was also incredibly obvious to me which knight would become the ultimate victor, but I was really hoping for a plot twist and have the evil side win. I also was not sure what the "VIP" guests received for being VIPs, other than being sat down at their tables about 10 minutes earlier than everyone else. I would not actively return to watch the show again, but I would recommend for others to try it once.

Yelp
Talk about an amazing experience for my daughter's 17th birthday!! She's still raving about what fun she and her friends had watching the show. She was treated like a queen, and her "kingdom" loved the food. It was well worth the cost, and we look forward to celebrating there again!

Yelp
Definitely a fun thing to do with kiddos! Brought my three here Sunday night and we had a blast. The ambiance is fun, very warm - so dress accordingly. It's a bit on the dark side but that's part of the fun. Our service at table 12 Sunday night for dinner was horrible. Our waitress was MIA most of the evening. Didn't have high hopes for food but it wasn't bad.The dark meat chicken was great, the light was dry, very over cooked. LOVE the tomato soup! Now one of my largest complaints was the option for light up toys for the kids. There were girl options of unicorns and crowns but the boys options were ALL weapons. I'm not for my kids having weapons. I really think they should get more options that are not weapons for both sexes.

Yelp
Visiting family in Texas and we decided to see a show and have dinner together. Checking in was easy and you're assigned a team color which matched the color of your knight who will perform in a contest and battle against other team colored/knights. There's also performance from bird, horses, etc. Although our knight didn't win the battle, we had a great time. The food is good. It's medieval times so you eat without utensils. You get tomato soup, garlic bread, half rotisserie chicken, 3 inch corn on the cob, baked half potato, soft drinks (free refills) and dessert - custard filled pastry. I was a disappointment there were no tea/coffee provided and their fare mentioned it's included. I've gone to other medieval times in Maryland and NJ and tea/coffee is as included so I have to remove one star here.

Yelp
We went here the other night to celebrate my sons 17th bday and had so much fun. The show is amazing and while the food is super basic, it is plentiful and good. The servers were friendly and attentive. We were bummed that our knight didn't win (go yellow) but still had so much fun. Highly recommend for bdays or a fun date night. Don't forget to join their bday club to get a good discount! I never received the email and reached out to their customer service team. They emailed me back within a day with a discount code for me.

Yelp
Such a fun experience for all! We had a party of 8 ranging from 6 years to 81 years old and everyone had a blast! They were very accommodating with my 81 year old grandmothers limited mobility and ensured we had great seats to accommodate her. The show is fun and the actors are great. The horses look well taken care of. The employee are in character at all times and it's a fun place for all. The food is delicious and service is great. They are so organized and everything from entrance, waiting for the show to begin, to the feast and show are amazingly planned and executed!

Yelp
I was entertained! Honestly I didn't think I would get into the joust as much as I did! You thought the blue knight was about to win, but no. Red knight pulled a fast one and won! Very dramatic turn of events. Let me back up to before the show. Parking was ample and free. The gates opened an hour before the show so we were able to go inside, grab our seating stickers, and peruse the gift shop. Once the main event was about to start, we all lined up in front of the doors that we're announced by color, it was a bit of a madhouse trying to get through the people to our door. But I think it would've been perfectly fine to enter a door that's "not yours," you just would have to walk around the stadium. No biggie. The feast: I had viewed the menu beforehand and knew I wouldn't be able to eat most of what was served because of the butter and seasonings used. I was able to request special meal accommodations once we were seated. The thing is my food came out way after everyone else had finished eating because the chef had to special make it, not complaining though. I had already told myself I might not be able to eat anyway, so to be given dairy/soy free substitutions I was super content. I got to eat pretty much everything just with no toppings, they called it a naked meal. Oh and no dessert for me since there wasn't any substitute available without dairy or soy. Again not a problem! My family enjoyed our visit. Especially the falcon (don't want to spoil it for you!) and the horses! Very cool.

Yelp
There is much to enjoy about the experience. For me, the horses trained in the style of the Spanish Riding School are a treat and the highlight. I am not aware of anywhere else in Dallas I can see such training. Second, they offer a vegan alternative. It's not bad and I am grateful for it. Pic of the bean potato stew included. Now, let's talk about the issues Medieval Times needs to address to continue keeping up in 2023 and beyond as a source of excellence in entertainment. First and most obviously, even if common sense doesn't prove women are capable of being knights and horse masters, Game of Thrones did. Time to allow women in the show. If nothing else, I expected the Queen to defend her own honor and kick the bad guy's ass. Alas, she let some dude do it for her. It's not like this is historically accurate and it's so heavily choreographed anyway. Secondly, the chain needs to address their waste. They pump out one or two sold out shows per day. They hand out paper crowns with no option to recycle. And look at these streamer flags we are all given to wave. The plastic poles and threads are pollutants. They need to convert compostable materials. The moat outside the castle is dyed with chemicals, harming the water. There are many more examples. In summary, while the current show is beautiful and the horses are superb; however, the show management needs to address glaring pitfalls and modernize to stay on trend. Tip: Don't waste your money on the VIP upgrades. All seats are great and tiered so you can see well.

Yelp
First time I went to a Medieval Times I was 10. It's like it's been frozen in time but not in a bad way. It's still fun and a tiny bit cheesy. Still the same menu but it was super filling, perfectly timed, and totally not the TV dinner you would expect. The servers are great! The pull double duty and are extras in the show too. The show was really fun. The actors were slightly over the top and entertaining. We got the bad boy knight. I didn't care that he didn't win . I'd say spring for the mid-grade upgrade so you get a few souvenirs and a picture rather not have to shell out extra at the gift shop. But it's all in good fun. It was worth the price tag.

Yelp
We went for a friend's kiddo's birthday: 5 adults and 3 kids. Checkin was easy. Once you're in the castle it's a madhouse of people and not many tables to just hang out at. You can go look at overpriced souvenirs or hit up the bar. I bought 2 little stuffed dragons for my kids and it was $41! My husband bought a drink for himself and our friend and that was $75! They came in souvenir cups, which you cannot avoid, but you get the next round cheaper. They said the drinks were sub par at best. At least we got to keep the cups. They definitely try to nickel and dime every where they can. My youngest was under 3 so he had to sit on my or my husband's lap (read as he sat on mom's lap the entire time). I wish I had checked to see if I could just get a chair for him to sit in because trying to eat with a toddler on your lap isn't fun or easy. We were not impressed by the food at all. I will say that the tomato bisque was actually quite tasty and I'm not a fan of tomato based soups. The bread was Texas toast and was fairly salty. The chicken and the potato wedge were incredibly salty. Don't get me wrong, I'm a girl that doesn't mind salt but it was the only seasoning on the food and it was too much. Chicken skin is mine and my son's favorite part and we tore it off and didn't eat it. The half ear of corn was mushy. We were starving so we tried to eat as much of the food as we could, but we left just as hungry as we came. We also noticed that our table was one of the last to consistently get served the next course. So while some people were getting their main courses cleaned up, we were finally just getting ours. The dessert was some sort of cold eclair. We all took a bite and that was it. I spat mine out. I promise, we are the least picky eaters but their food completely missed the mark. I almost wish I had chosen the vegan options instead. I asked for a spoon for the soup and our poor server had to go to the kitchen on the opposite side of the hall to get one, so it took a while to get one. The cup that the soup was served in was too hot to put it to my almost 3 year old's mouth. The poor servers had to keep running back and forth to the kitchen for the large serving trays. and I mean they were running. I felt so bad for them. This seems to be poor planning on the company's end. Get those servers some rolling carts that can handle multiple trays at a time and line them up along the walls behind each section. All the food was covered anyway. They set the servers up for failure in this sense. Only the soup containers were on the tables and they were only labeled as "caution hot" or something to that effect. I asked my server what was in it and he said it was the soup and that he would pour it. I feel like something that is THAT hot should not be left unattended on the tables in case a child were to open it or a guest who just wasn't sure what it was. The show itself was fun and kept us interested. I feel like it was hard to watch while trying to tear a chicken apart and make sure your toddler doesn't get a chicken bone. I wish they had a more kid friendly option to give little ones. This makes things easier on the parents, so while my kids got to enjoy the show, I feel like I missed most of it making sure the food was safe for my kid. It can get pretty loud in the castle and the dining hall, I highly suggest bringing some earplugs or noise canceling headphones for the littles and maybe yourself if you're sensitive to loud sounds. We got there a little after 6 and had no problem parking. I'm not sure about other patrons that came later. When we came out there were 2 buses immediately out front blocking in rows of cars. Thankfully ours wasn't blocked but I don't think it's safe for anyone's cars to be blocked in if there's an emergency. Overall, it was a one and done experience for us especially for almost $160 only paying for 3 people. I should add we went on a Friday, my friend's choosing, and the only option was a 7pm dinner time. We didn't get to eat until about 7:30/7:45. I wish they had an earlier start time.
