Medieval Times is one of those experiences you just have to try at least once. It's a full dinner show with knights, jousting, horses, and lots of audience cheering. You're served a meal while watching an action-packed live performance, and the entire experience feels like stepping back in time.
We arrived about 30 minutes before the show started, though they recommend showing up an hour early. There's a themed village outside that looked interesting, but it was closed during our visit. While you wait, you're directed to one of three rooms -- the middle room has souvenirs (a bit pricey), the left has a livelier bar with fun announcements when people order drinks, and the right is more relaxed if you want a quieter spot.
Drinks and snacks before the show can be expensive -- the slushies alone were over $10 -- but that's expected in a venue like this. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean given the size of the crowd, especially with lots of families and kids around.
Once seating starts, it can get a little chaotic. They try to organize guests by ticket type and section, but some people rush ahead, which makes things a bit stressful. That part could be better managed.
The show itself is very entertaining. You're seated in an arena, watching live sword fights, horse tricks, and a full story play out. There's lots of excitement and the crowd really gets into it. The performers are clearly putting in a lot of effort, and it makes for a great atmosphere.
Dinner is served during the show -- tomato soup, roast chicken, half a potato, corn on the cob, and an eclair for dessert. No utensils, which fits the theme. The food is simple and not the main draw, but it's satisfying. Just a heads-up: they advertise coffee at the end, but none was offered during our visit.
One thing to note -- vendors walk around during the performance selling glowing toys, and sometimes servers block the view briefly. It's a minor thing, but something to be aware of.
Staff were friendly and quick with service. At the end, they hand out cards for tipping, since gratuity isn't included in your ticket. Be sure to bring some cash to tip the team -- they really do work hard to make the night enjoyable.
Overall, this is a great experience for families, groups, or even a fun date night. The food is decent, the show is impressive, and it's definitely something different from the usual dinner out.
