"Great, cheap Middle-Eastern food right off Duke's campus"
I've gone there several times for lunch but just went tonight for dinner for the first time, and it was great. The server was very helpful and accommodating, even letting us swap some options that were probably not formally allowed (and without adding any extra charge).
I had a platter of a lamb skewer (with a cucumber yogurt sauce) over rice, along with my choice of one side (I got baba ghannouj), and some pita. The meat was a tiny bit fatty but tender nonetheless and quite tasty. Overall delicious, and cost roughly $7 only. My daughter LOVED the baba ghannouj she got, declaring it the best she'd ever eaten. My wife got a vegetarian platter with some grilled veggies, spanakopita, and baba ghannouj- I tasted them, and again, very good and clearly home-made.
Another good sign- many of the other patrons in the restaurant with us spoke Arabic. Good sign the food is authentic and appreciated by others who know it.
In a past visit, I had some of the "bamya"- an okra dish in tomato sauce- absolutely stellar, though very garlicky, so beware your next appointment!
Overall, very good place- I could even go to 5 stars on it.
