I came to Mediterranean Bakery years ago and wasn't impressed with their food, and pretty much stayed away from them. During a horrible traffic jam on 285, I pulled off and decided to go on in. Dang, why'd I wait so long to come back???
Mediterranean Bakery & Sandwich is more of a Lebanese variety of mediterranean foods, and in addition to the actual restaurant, you have a Lebanese grocery store attached to the bakery.
On my trip today I got the following:
Beef Shawarma Sandwich ($6.79)
Original Baklava ($1.50)
Chocolate glazed baklava ($1.50)
So, right off the bat, the Beef Sharwarma sandwich was delicious. Flavors burst from it, the wrap wasn't soggy, nor was it sloppily wrapped. The beef was a thin sliced and chopped meat, which wasn't tough or chewy, the veggies stuffed inside were nice a fresh as well, and the serving size was just enough. I really enjoyed this wrap!
The Original Baklava was also pretty delicious with a flaky crust and soaked in butter/honey. The nuts here were not mushy and while it was sweet, it wasn't so sweet that I couldn't enjoy it. Like the wrap, I really enjoyed this, although the serving size was a bit small for me.
The chocolate glazed baklava was likely the weakest item here, because it was simply okay. It wasn't very flaky, maybe due to the chocolate glaze, and it just didn't have the flavors the original had. I'll likely skip this one next time.
Located in a decently sized strip found behind a McDonalds, parking here is shared, and has never been a problem. There is a red light exit to get to I-285, but you can easily get out of this lot if you turn right instead of left.
If you're stuck in traffic, or even if you're not, Mediterranean Bakery is worth a stop in.
