Naysayers said it was damn near impossible to write a Yelp review linking the Grammies, Subway sandwiches, poker, man-buns, and tofu pudding. Challenge accepted!
The most vocal celebrity supporter for this franchise claims eating the desserts here results in significant weight loss over time.
Not to worry, this is not a career comeback for Jared Fogle, the Subway pitchman and subsequent convicted felon for child pornography with the tagline "Eat Fresh!"
In fact the answer is none other than CardiB, the Grammy Award winning artist who was recently quoted as saying the following:
"That's why these Asian motherf*ckers, they live long....Why would they be reaching like 140 years old? Because... they don't really use a lot of sugar!"
Originating from TaiChung, Taiwan, the same birthplace for bubble milk tea, here comes a franchise to the states showcasing a new wave of Asian desserts that are low on sugar but big on texture and temperature contrast.
In addition to a wide range of milk and fruit teas, the showstoppers are the tofu pudding, grass jelly, and shaved ice desserts typically with multiple toppings ranging from boba and fresh fruit to tapioca and potato balls, and coconut jellies. Having been back to Taiwan on multiple visits, I can vouch for its authenticity and deliciousness and wholeheartedly agree that converting one's palate to appreciating the subtle sweetness of Asian desserts with ingredients that possess natural health benefits such as taro, tofu, and grass jelly may in fact be the secret to staying thin, looking young, and living longer.
Having grown my hair out during the pandemic often sporting a man-bun and donning a face mask, I was recently playing poker in Las Vegas and after not saying a word for a few hours, a few guys at my table just assumed I was an young attractive Asian girl so I must be one of those Asian motherf*ckers CardiB is talking about.
