Best Asian Dessert Shops and Cafes in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Sweet dessert soup is a traditional way to end a meal in a few Asian locales, like Taiwan. This authentic Taiwanese dessert place showcases “QQ” ingredients like sweet taro balls and boba. Beans cooked in brown sugar are also popular in many traditional desserts. In the San Diego locations, there are also plenty of Asian desserts that are becoming more familiar here, like egg waffles and shaved ice with mangoes or strawberries." - Helen I. Hwang

Where to find the best Asian food for takeout and delivery in Chinatown | Eater Vegas

"A taste of Taiwanese desserts makes the menu at Meet Fresh. The desserts come at the hands of “Brother and Sister Fu,” who grew up in the Feng Yuan District of Taichung, Taiwan. They stick to tradition with taro ball desserts, soft herbal jelly, a tofu pudding, shaved ice, herbal jellies, and more. Hot almond soups come in bowls and cups for $4.50 to $6.80, the typical range of prices here. Order Taiwanese desserts for pickup and delivery through Seamless, Uber Eats, GrubHub, or DoorDash." - Susan Stapleton

The chain landed in San Diego last year, opening its first outpost in Mira Mesa, and local franchise owner Roland Chan is preparing to launch a second location in Kearny Mesa. We went to this Meet Fresh (we have been to several others). This one was very dirty and had a REALLY bad smell inside (like a dirty smelly type of smell). My son got a drink but my wife and I just didn't want to risk getting a drink from this place. It just smelled really bad and was very dirty inside. It definitely is not keeping up with the standards that other Meet Fresh drink shops we have visited in the past. Will I go there again ? Absolutely not.

The Tofu one is so good reminds of the one we have in the Philippines. My friend ordered the volcano it was like halo halo but less sweeter but very creative. The only issue i have pls more cleaning and check and put a note to tell personnel if their bathrooms needs cleaning.

I have walked past this place many times and I finally decided to try it. When we got there the guy taking our order said there was a 10 minute wait on ordered and aggressively tapped on a sign above him that said there was a wait. He was already not inviting but we wanted to try it so we said it was fine.. We ordered a Thai tea shaved ice and Thai tea smoothie. The shaved ice was not impressive at all.. it melted into itself so fast and hardened which made it super hard to eat with the plastic spoons they provided. It was like chilling at a rock and it had no flavor.. there were little black dots in the ice which told us the shaving machine needs to be cleaned so we just disgusted the whole thing all together.. the Thai tea smoothie was okay, also lacked flavor and it all just seemed way over hyped.. won’t be back :/

Google
The famous Taiwan Franchise's only store in San Diego County. The famous grass jelly and taro ball are always awesome, while I prefer the tofu pudding as a smoother choice of sides. The egg waffle is great as it's crispy enough and well with the sweet desserts and drinks. The milk tea drinks are generally good while the match latte is so strong in matcha but lacks the taste of milk. They open until late at night, might be a good choice after a heavy dinner

My first visit was not pleasant at all. It took me 30 min to place my order. I wanted to order mangoberry shaved ice but it was not in season. Then, I tried to order taro mocha shaved ice and it wasn’t available either. I ended up with Taro Volcano and Jasmine green milk tea. I was going to use an E-gift card but the kiosk wouldn’t take it. I ended up have to order with a staff all over again. They were pricey for the quality and taste.

Perfect icy treat on a hot day! I’ve missed out on Meet Fresh and having just tasted this for the first time this weekend makes me feel so late in the game lol. We were out here visiting family and my niece treated us to have Meet Fresh. This Taiwanese chain is located on Mira Mesa Blvd near Daiso and H Mart. We shared a “Mangoberry”, which was half Strawberry and half Mango shaved ice (like a Japanese Kakigori) with topped with a vanilla ice cream. This reminded me of Guppy Tea House that I used to visit 20 years ago in the OC. I liked the ice because it had a “fine” texture (not as fine or sharp as snow cones but a delicate-for-your-tongue and stays-icy texture). My niece ordered one of their Icy Grass Jelly with taro balls, mochi and sesame balls. Unfortunately, I was not a fan of it as the grass jelly had a slightly bitter aftertaste. There were plenty of seats when we came. Orders were done via the kiosk. And it was super packed inside this shop. They also had drinks like iced teas, smoothies, and egg waffles available. Definitely worth a visit and thankful my niece took us here! Looking forward to my next visit!

Google
Meet Fresh truly lives up to its name! Everything was incredibly fresh, high quality, and handled with care. The service was fast and friendly, and you can really tell they prioritize customer satisfaction. It’s rare to find a place that combines great taste, freshness, and reliability so well. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be a regular!

Google
My go to for drinks and desserts in the area. It’s nice that you can order on the kiosk, and get a notification on your phone when the order is ready. Space is bright and clean. Everything they serve from the food to the drinks is refreshing and not too sweet.

Yelp
I really like the desserts at Meet Fresh. This location is right next to H Mart and Yin Tang hotpot (yum!). I normally get the icy grass jelly, but today I got the taro ball signature, which adds a ball of taro paste and ice cream to the grass jelly/mochi/brown sugar ice concoction. It's around $10 for this dessert, which we share, and it fills us up. The dessert is not too sweet, and I appreciate that the ice is sweetened and not just plain ice. There's a lot of grass jelly in the bowl and the mochi is just the perfect chewy consistency. The creamer included with the bowl is the best thing, it goes sooo well with everything. The service is okay, you don't interact much with the employees because you order through touch screens. There's a lot of room and tables for you to sit and chat away at. One negative is that the trays were wet, but overall I enjoy my time here.

Yelp
Red Bean Soup C didn't have the amount of toppings indicated on the Menu pictures... it was basically half of it - so we weren't too impressed with that given how it was $10 too. The fruit tea drinks we got were good too so we don't have any issues with those. Would like to try the shaved ice at some point though! 5/10, would come again once in a blue moon.

Yelp
We went here on a weekday evening around 8pm and it got busier towards 9pm. There were a lot of people ordering to go and dining in. You order off an iPad at the counter, take your receipt, and find an open table. There's a screen that tells you when your order is ready but they will also call your number out. The dessert is ok in my opinion. We ordered the signature grass jelly shaved ice dish and the warm tofu pudding with taro.

Yelp
Meet Fresh is a place for desserts! The shaved ice combo was beyond delightful, especially the Pudding and Q mochi milk shaved Ice. The atmosphere was perfect for a chill hangout, quick service and the overall experience was very good. The refreshing dessert was truly the cherry on top. Cannot wait to return for another sweet adventure at Meet Fresh!

Yelp
Meet fresh has been one of my favorite dessert places for years and I'd say I'm a regular here. However I'd give this place an honest 3.5/5. I've noticed the lack of consistency lately, and your drink could either be the best you've had, or the worst. My favorite is the oolong milk tea, but I've been trying a few new drinks here and there. But every time, the drink i get tastes different from the last and it's often disappointing. I also don't recommend the matcha latte here it was like there was no matcha at all. As for service, they don't take your order and you do it through the kiosk, which I don't mind. They mention there's a lack of staff and the shop does get very busy. I also like how they text you when your drink is ready and there's a big screen to show your order progress as well. The ambiance is nice for hanging out, but i personally like to come here to study. There's plenty of outlets and wide tables. However, it gets really loud and busy at night so if you wanted to come study, the morning would be best!

Yelp
I feel like their quality has declined over the years. I used to love Meet Fresh, and nowadays, always leave feeling a little disappointed.... So much potential for this much-desired niche of a Taiwanese dessert place! We tried their chocolate deluxe egg waffle. Not bad, but Happy Lemon's was better, imo. Their hot almond soup tasted bland and watered-down. Would not recommend, just get their almond drink instead if you want that almond flavor. From what I remember, their shaved ice is good! So I would recommend going here for the summer, skip during the winter months.

Yelp
Love this place!!! I would definitely go again and again! Location - near Hmart Parking - lots of parking. Parking lot is huge but crazy. Interior decor: light wooden tables - clean and spacious. Cafe is bigger than other cafes. Food: * Iced Matcha Latte with red bean - good! I love matcha and red beans!!! * Hot Red Bean Signature Soup - I LOVE THIS. I grew up with my grandma making this a soup like this but a korean version at home. I used to make it with her so eating it brought back such great memories. For me, it was good and warm filling dessert due to childhood memories with my grandmother. Thank you for bring those good memories back with the delicious food. Service - you order at the front on a screen and pay at the front. You get the food at the front once you hear your number. Sometimes it is hard to hear your number... wish they had something visual so people can see the numbers being called. I would personally come back.

Yelp
Consistent desserts and conveniently located next to HMart and Daiso! I like that you can adjust sugar levels for the tofu pudding, and the purple rice has lots of toppings and sweet potato balls. Both of our dessert soups were decent serving sizes (probably enough to share) and they took about 10-15 mins to come out.

Yelp
Poor customer service, no greetings to customers. We have to order ourselves on their slow machine. It's so slow cause everyone is trying the best to read everything when it's faster if someone takes the Order. Slow service in receiving the items as well. It took a while for the shaved ice and boba to be made. Milk tea wasn't good 1/5 Shaved ice taro wasnt that good 2/5 Quite disappointed with their service and dessert.

Yelp
Similar to other ones I've been to, but their little dairy cups have been replaced with non dairy creamers here. Everything else is about the same though
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
I like that you have choices of hot and cold desserts: boba/mochi/red bean/taro. Sugar level can be adjusted. One thing I appreciate about this place is that they have a kiosk to order your items. Downside doesn't list the ingredients of all their items. It is nice to know what are non-dairy menu items. Service is really slow here, from my experience, and I have been to this place 3X already. Overall, this place is decent, but it could be better for service and menu identification of ingredients to make an informed decision.

Yelp
It was pretty packed on a Friday night. We got there around 9pm. I like boba so I got a strawberry slush with double boba. My daughter also chose a strawberry slush. Right when you walk they have 2 order screens. Just like the new McDonald's where you go up to a big screen and order. You don't talk to anyone. All the chairs were taken inside and table was pretty sticky. I only come here when my friends and their kids want boba
google avatar

Cryetti C.

Yelp
Solid 3+ stars! It's always busy when I come here but the big screen is nice as it tells you when your order is up next. Chill place to have boba or dessert and hang out.

Yelp
WTF! I used to love Meet Fresh. What happened? I came here recently and was extremely disappointed by the poor customer service. While I was ordering at the kiosk, I asked the male employee a question, but had to repeat it three times before receiving a response full of attitude. The employee was very rude and looked disgusted by my question, despite my politeness. It seemed as though he was annoyed by any questions I had. While the other employee was busy making drinks, he was simply on his computer, who knows doing what, making it unclear why he couldn't answer a simple question. Shouldn't a customer be more important than what he's doing on the computer? To make matters worse, I saw this same employee sitting on a TRASH CAN, while I waited for my order and was getting napkins, which was both extremely disgusting and unsanitary. Also, I had to wait twenty minutes for one drink, even though there were two employees there. The one on the computer was not helping out. Despite the good quality of the tea, I will never come back to this place. I hope you all won't either as I'm not sure how this place passed the Health Inspection. It's time for them to reinspect this place and check on employee morale here! I will leave it at that. See the picture and it's up to you to decide if you want to come back here.

Yelp
I went back again for the same order and this time was definitely a lot better than the previous time. I could taste the oolong tea flavor this time around, yay! The tofu pudding was again very good and not disappointing. I'm hoping in the future the drinks will continue to have this nice consistency in flavor.

Yelp
While this grass jelly dessert boasted mochi, red bean, sesame, and taro balls, personally, it didn't quite align with my taste. The subtle sweetness and diverse textures might resonate with fans of Filipino halo-halo, but it didn't hit the mark for me. It's a distinctive take on a beloved classic but might not cater to everyone's preference
google avatar

Yelp
Giving this place a second chance, we were hopeful for a better experience than our initial visit years ago. The restaurant exuded a trendy atmosphere upon entry, offering both kiosks and QR code ordering options. Despite the efficient ordering process, the lack of interaction from the staff was noticeable. After a brief wait, we received our drinks, which, unfortunately, did not meet our expectations. The presentation differed from the menu, and the temperature was not as refreshing as expected. The flavor was also lacking, leaving us disappointed. With some improvements in service and drink quality, this place could truly shine.
google avatar

Tammy N.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday night and it took 45 minutes to order and get my drink. You order through a kiosk but it's not the most user friendly, so some people take a while to order. They have a lot of options but the menu they display on the TV screens only includes a few of the top popular items. To see the full menu, you have to wait until you get to the kiosk. This makes the line go much slower. I've been here a few years ago and didn't enjoy their shaved ice or main items too much, but tagged along with friends today so I decided to just get a drink. I got the QQ wintermelon tea. It took over 30 minutes to get my drink. I'm not sure how it possibly took that long, but it did. And the wintermelon tea was very disappointing.. did not even have a hint of tea flavor.

Yelp
My boyfriend craved MeetFresh for a refreshing dessert after dinner so we decided to give it a second chance after our hour long wait last time. This time was so different, the service was on the complete other end of the spectrum. We noticed there was no wait sign, and we ordered a Custom Icy Grass Jelly, which is just grass jelly and grass jelly shaved ice. We added taro balls because I love those. The order came out in 5 minutes!!!! I was so delighted and impressed On top of that the food itself was really good, I never noticed that the shaved ice was grass jelly flavored and ordering the custom bowl allowed me to notice and simply appreciate the herbal and sweet tones of grass jelly :)

Yelp
I have been wanting to try Meet Fresh for a while although just never gotten around to going. I went on Valentine's day with my mom and her aunts. The desserts offered here reminded me a lot of Vietnamese desserts so I was very excited to have this for dessert. Walking in, I was a bit confused. Just take your time and read everything --There were lots of signs up and plexiglass. The items shown on the menu screen at the top went by too fast to make a decision. They have QR codes if you want to scan that, and a kiosk to look through and make the order (which to be honest is good for people that have anxiety with speaking/ or are just shy in general). And there is also a set menu on the wall as you walk in, it is on the left side. It glows, so you won't miss it. We just finished eating a large dinner, but really wanted to have dessert. There were 4 of us so we figured let's all get what we are interested in and share it. The ending price was a bit high, nearly $10 per dessert. But if you're really thinking about it...each item is made fresh to order! There are plenty of toppings within one bowl and the people that were in the kitchen were spot on with the flavor profiles of these bowls. We ordered a total of 4 items: 1 original egg waffle - this came out hot and so delectably fluffy with just the right amount of chew to it. It came out folded into a cup, but the weight of the egg waffle was too much and it nearly landed into one of the desserts! 1 cold coco sago C - I highly remember choosing cold sago C, but when it came out it had crushed almonds on top and the flavor of the soup was more almond-based than coconut. So I was confused about it, but at the same time didn't dwell too much about it because I didn't fully read the description of what came in it before ordering. I dunno what happened, but apparently on the menu there is an almond soup which I believe is what I got! The toppings were: rice balls, taro balls (mini Q), melon jelly, sago, and crushed almonds. Personally, I liked this a lot -- just would have preferred it wayyy more without the almonds and almond flavor to it. Because it had an undertone of jasmine or some floral notes. 1 icy grass jelly #C - this was my great aunt's choice (she has been here before so she knows what's good!) This was grass jelly, grass jelly shaved ice, melon jelly, rice balls, and boba. I found this to be soo refreshing and delicious. It had just the perfect amount of sweetness to it and the grass jelly was silky and not crunchy which I loved. It reminded me of the canned grass jelly drink that I'd get from the Vietnamese market. The mini boba was a perfect addition as well, it added a great texture to the dessert. A little chew and since they were mini -- they allowed the grass jelly to be the star of the show. The melon jelly was pretty tasty as well. The rice balls were interesting, but I found them to be a funky choice for this particular dessert. Although, it was all in all very yummy. 1 tofu pudding with taro chunks, 25% sweetness. Ok, this one just wasn't for me. It wasn't sweet enough for me. And I am used to having tofu pudding with gingery syrup ( a Vietnamese dessert! And yes, I know that Meet Fresh is not a Vietnamese dessert spot but a Taiwanese dessert spot), therefore trying this dessert -- there was no oomph and deliciousness for me. -- more on this: my great aunt ordered this and enjoyed it. She loved the large fresh taro chunks. And the tofu pudding was very smooth, the spoon cut through it very well. I'd rate the bowls as #1 grass jelly, #2 coco sago blend, and #3 tofu pudding with taro. The interior of this dessert place was very bright and clean. I loved how spacious it was and how organized as well. The music wasn't too loud...which was really nice. On our receipts was an order number which they would call out on a microphone and they also had a screen on the wall saying the progress and time in which each order was coming up. The workers were quiet and kept to themselves, but they were respectful and attentive if you came to the bar area and asked for extra spoons or bowls. I don't know why the ratings are so low for this place, but I'd say this place is a must-try! There are so many items on the menu and if you don't like something you can custom-make your order! Sometimes you can even choose the sweetness level. And they also have drinks... that I def will be trying in the future! This spot is great for dates, and hanging out with friends, and family.

Yelp
One of the dumbest ordering systems ever. Ordered online and said the order would be done in 7 minutes. We end up waiting over half an hour for one drink. This happened to us 3 times already. Every time, there is something glitchy with their system.

Yelp
Meet Fresh is a cool tea joint located in Mira Mesa. The wifey and I love this chain, but unfortunately their location in Clairemont Mesa closed! They still have this location in Mira Mesa, but it is a 20-25 minute drive to get here. If we are in the area and want tea or a bubble waffle, this is our go to. The wifey loves the Jin Xuan Oolong Tea and I like the Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea. Some other drinks we like are Mini Q Winter Melon Tea and Grass Jelly Milk Tea. Their bubble waffles are pretty good and they have different flavors including original, chocolate, matcha red bean, chocolate chip and a few others. We love their snow ice desserts. Signature grass jelly is good and we also customize adding ingredients we like (red bean, mochi, mini Q, boba, custard, grass jelly etc). There are so many options! Great for hot days! On the colder nights they have hot desserts as well! Service is usually decent here. Workers are usually friendly. It can get pretty busy here. They do have a self-order kiosk, which is nice. Or you can order ahead online for pickup. Great location because there are a lot of dining options in this shopping center and a Daiso next door as well! We were sad to see the Clairemont Mesa location close, but glad this one is still open. We are hoping they will reopen another location down south closer to Mission Valley. 4.25 / 5: Drinks and desserts 4 / 5: Service 4 / 5: Cleanliness 4.08 / 5: Overall... solid boba and dessert joint!

Yelp
I normally come here for the same thing, always, and it's the signature grass jelly ice dessert. I love the signature grass jelly ice dessert as it is very light and especially good during a hot summer day! Grass jelly is not that sweet compared to other jelly's and overall, this dessert is not overly sweet which I enjoy. Their strawberry smoothie is waaaaaayyy too sweet for me. If you're not a sweet tooth person, it's best to ask for less sweetness. The ambience here is simple and the service is ok. Every visit I have had, it is always hard to place an order via phone / online. Sometimes the line is long and the service is super long. There was a time I had to wait 39 min for my dessert and 2 drinks.

Yelp
We had ordered on UberEats so we could quickly drop by and pick up our boba drinks. However, it did not turn out to be a quick trip. I had arrived when the UberEats app notified me that the drinks were done. I entered and it was quite chaotic inside. I only saw 3 workers at the front. There were a lot of people waiting for their orders. I went to the pick up window but no one helped me, despite them seeing me there. I had to call out to them after about a minute of waiting to show them that my placed order said it was ready. The worker looked confused that I had ordered through UberEats and asked a coworker. They looked confused for a second and said about 5-10 more minutes. Now, I was confused since the app had said it was ready. But I saw how busy they were and waited. While waiting, I saw many people come up to ask for updates about their orders. I also saw one of the workers trying to hold three cups but putting their bare fingers INSIDE the cups to hold them together and transport them to another part of the kitchen area. It sort of grossed me out because I know they've been touching other parts of the area. At the 10 minute mark, I checked with them and they still weren't done. I wait about another 5 minutes, for a total of 15 minutes past the UberEats notification. The drinks were pretty watered down, but boba balls were good. We got the milk tea with black sugar boba and milk tea with boba. Not sure if I would come here again unless I was getting non drink desserts and have a lot of time to spend.

Yelp
This is a great Taiwanese shaved ice and Boba place in Mira Mesa, just next to Daiso and in the H-mart shopping complex. We've had their shaved ice and drink options and all have been fantastic. The waffles are also freshly made and excellent. I had their flan once and also enjoyed it a lot! Ordering is easy on their tablet up front. There is usually a wait but they will call out your number and there's a TV in the back that displays their orders. If you need to charge your phone, there are outlets along the wall where you can charge while you have your drink/snack. Prices are a bit high but it's probably inflation. --TL;DR-- Pros: great variety of options for drinks and Taiwanese shaved ice toppings. Hits the spot if you're craving some grass jelly Cons: wait time can be long, sometimes they are out of waffles, and it's pricy Bottom Line: a good option for Taiwanese shaved ice!

Yelp
The desserts are shareable and delicious! Read all the ingredients to make sure you know what you're getting :) Other than that, quick service and a lot of dessert options!

Yelp
They have a self service kiosk, which is helpful to see what you can add on for extra topics. Sign up for an account on their app and I believe they give you a dollar off your first order. The texture of the taro balls were a little chewier than I remembered but it was still good. They do not clean your trays so you do have to put them away. It could be hard to find, but it's located in the back, in the walk way. Where we were sitting we couldn't see the sign for it. We like ours extra creamy so we always ask for extra creamer!

Yelp
If you'd never had this type of dessert before, I would highly recommend trying, it's also a great light snack if you don't want something too heavy. They have a pretty large menu with options of tofu desserts, grass jelly, potato balls, taro balls etc. During winter, I prefer to get the hot tofu pudding that comes with taro and sweet potato balls. The desserts themselves are not sweet at all unless you add the sugar which is similar to the levels you see with boba, so you can pink 100/75/50 etc. I am rating this location in particular a bit lower because they ran out of the rice ball in the grass jelly that my friend ordered so that is a bit disappointing. plenty of tables and spaces for larger groups, we went right before closing at 10PM and the place was packed!

Yelp
Not sure why there are so many negative reviews but my friend and I loved this place yesterday when we stopped by. I ordered the Caramel Pudding milk tea which was delicious and not too sweet. I placed my order at the register then waited for it on the side counter. They have a great system with a screen that keeps you updated on the status of your order. I also love how their menu has a photo for each of their items (very helpful for those like me that may not be familiar with Taiwanese desserts but are excited to try something new). I told my friend I can't wait to come back and try the waffle and shaved ice. Great service too!

Yelp
My go to order is winter melon with grass jelly. I love coming here when I'm in the area. The ambiance is bright and airy with lots of seating available. You order from a touch screen and wait for your order number to be called out! They even have a screen to see where your order is in the line of orders!

Yelp
Love this Taiwanese dessert chain! It's definitely a unique type of dessert. Usually the items have some sort of base - herbal jelly, herbal jelly ice, sweet&silky bean curd, shaved ice, etc. You can add toppings like differently flavored chewy mochi balls (taro, sweet potato, boba, etc), red bean, fruit, and others. There's also preset bowls with toppings chosen for you. I usually like getting one sweet bean curd and the double taro signature. The ice cream really hits the spot on the double taro signature. The drinks are fine but nothing special. Ask for half sweet on the drinks.

Yelp
Their cold coco sago signature is really good. So are their puff waffles! Parking is tough in this plaza, but you can save time if you order ahead online.

Yelp
One of my favorite dessert places for a very long time! My go to order is the icy grass jelly with taro balls! I love adding the rice balls to my order. My favorite drink is their green milk tea with mini taro balls. Their teas are super strong but their creamer makes it incredibly milky! I do prefer their green tea because their black tea tastes a little like herbal. Their fluffy herbal tea is also an all time favorite of mine! Their restrooms are extremely clean, however, their pick up and tray return can be quite disorganized at times. They always seem short staffed and sometimes the orders take awhile to come out.

Yelp
I liked what I ordered, the Icy Taro Balls. It was good, however, I had a weird strange feeling the desert was missing the milk. I couldn't really pinpoint it because I eat Taiwanese, Filipino, and Vietnamese deserts that have milk. At home I poured some French Vanilla dairy creamer into it and it was delicious. So I go on the website to see if they just missed the milk and that's when I see I should have gotten another type dish. So next time I'll do that. With that being said, it's still too pricey for a small bean desert for $9. I mean, it's cheap food. Beans? Come on. Can buy the ingredients separately at the store at put it together yourself for less. Overall it was good but so is a Halo Halo and twice the size. Also, the place is slow to make your item. I mean sloooowww. I watched my receipt number slowly rise on the screen before they called it - 20 minutes later. To make a cheap bean dessert? Come on. Best to order online and pick up. I'll go back must get the milky version. That's how you really eat it. Need that carnation milk. I've read reviews with rude workers and have to say these workers don't talk. So they were rude in that sense. There wasn't even one person at the register to ask questions since you have to self order. So lack of customer waiter interaction equals uncaring workers - equals what people call as rude.

Yelp
Cute Taiwanese desert place. Desserts we ordered took a longer than expected. But both Hot red bean soup dessert and Potaro ball tofu pudding were delicious. We chose the 1/3 sugar option. They have variety of herbal tea and milk teas as well as Shaved ice and ice cream. Both desserts were served in the paper bowls, which was not my liking so next time we will have to ask for reusable, non paper nor plastic bowls. We will definitely return!

Yelp
One of my favorite dessert places. The grass jelly is so unique. It has a light flavor and pairs well with the ice.

Yelp
My daughter is a jasmine milk tea snob and voted Meet Fresh for having the best in town. The tea flavor is strong and doesn't taste like those powdered mixes. This is real green tea. She's studying for a final exam (biology summer class at UCSD) and need a little snack to get her through the night. We picked up her favorite drink and some assorted mochi after a nice sushi dinner. She's all set to get back to prepping for her final exam tomorrow morning! The tea here is great but the service is not. This 4 star rating is for the jasmine green milk tea with grass jelly and the Michu assortment. Would be a 5 star if the service were better....

Yelp
Meet Fresh is so good. This location is next to Daiso and H Mart on Mira Mesa. It's behind In n Out. There's a huge parking lot, but it's always very crowded. They have contactless ordering at the kiosk. Then they call your number when the order is ready. The menu keeps changing. They have so many newer items, but I always love the grass jelly and herbal tea. The taro balls are also really good. I wish they could add the QQ topping to all the drinks.

Yelp
One of my most favorite Asian dessert spots to hit up! Their brown sugar boba is amazing, the quality of the bobas are 10/10. Service is awesome, they're usually pretty packed so expect a little wait. I love that they have machines where you can just order. Ambiance is like any boba spot, cute aesthetic & cool tables & chairs. It's a great spot to study or hang out with friends. It's usually well kept & clean. A few times it smelled really bad, almost like sewer water. But it hasn't been like that in the past year so I think they fixed whatever problem it was. Their egg waffles are amazing, but expect an 8-10 minute wait on a slow day. If it's busy, probably 30-45min wait. I tried one of their new drinks called the Coco Mochi Sago drink. AMAZING. Way better than I thought it was going to taste. I'm not sure if it's limited time, but I hope they keep it. I usually also get their Icy Grass Jelly Signature with an icy taro ball. Extra condensed milk is a must!! My husband also loves the Hot Red bean series. It's so good on a cold day! Feels like a warm hug from the inside.

Yelp
We got a large crystal mochi milk shaved ice and it was perfect for 4 people to share. The ice had a little bit of condensed milk and what tasted like wintermelon syrup so it wasn't plain. Good variety of toppings including red beans, melon, rice balls, red bean mochi, and ice cream. Worth the price in my opinion. Wait time was reasonable and service was good today. Inside was clean and had wifi- decent study spot!

Yelp
I love, love MeetFresh!! I think the desserts offered here are so fun to eat, and it's hard to find anything like it in San Diego. When you walk in, you're greeted with a menu on the counter and wall. There are a lot of options, so choose carefully, though I don't think you can really go wrong. They have an option that allows you to build your own bowl by choosing the toppings. (I didn't do this, but I think I will try it next time!) There were lots of topping choices including--but not limited to--taro, mochi, red bean, boba, jelly, the list goes on and on! When you're ready to place your order, you have to input it yourself into the electronic kiosk at the front counter. It only takes card. You'll be given a number on your receipt, and then you can take a seat in the shop. I had to take a star off because of the service, as we waited a really long time for our number to be called (about 30 minutes). The staff were working diligently, though, so perhaps it's up to the business to hire more workers. As for the actual dessert, everything was so delicious!! The mochi balls were chewy and gelatinous, the red bean was the perfect amount of sweetness, and the jellies were a fun texture. I definitely have to come back to MeetFresh---I want to try everything on their extensive menu. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I like how they seem to be more upfront about which drinks are customizable for sweetness. Many similar drink shops aren't and you have to ask and make sure they understand when you're ordering a no added sugar drink. For those of you that are looking at your sugar intakes, if it's not available as an option when you're ordering on the touch screen, then it's safe to say that it's sweetened. Haven't tried their desserts outside of just drinks. However did order the purple rice drink and would probably like their desserts as well. Tastes great both hot or cold. Plenty of seating. Drinks/Desserts are made to order and has an average of :30 waiting time. Sometimes their order status screen is accurate but don't rely on it. Restrooms are usually clean but don't have hand soap. But have a wash station at the hallway to the restrooms that seems to be the unspoken alternative.

Yelp
I came here with my and tried the icy taro ball signature and to be quiet honest I was underwhelmed. I was really looking forward to trying this desert and I felt like it was pretty bland. I did not ask for anything to be added into it initially. But after taking a couple bites I asked the staff for a creamer b/c I saw other customers around me pouring some into their desert. The taro and potato balls were very chewy and had the similar texture to mochi. The boba was perfectly chewy, but all the components together in the desert I got was just okay. This place does offer a variety of deserts so if I come back I really want to try a drink instead. Moreover, I thought it was really cool that they put your order up on the screen to ensure that customers knew when their order would we ready- nice touch.

Yelp
Time for an update!! I like Meet Fresh, but my last visit to this location had me waiting on 2 drinks for nearly 40 minutes!! There was only one person ahead of me, and I ordered the egg waffle separately at their register. I ordered my drinks on the kiosk first because that's what their sign says to do. Not sure what's up with their system or if it's a staffing issue, but I sat and watched at least 3 others get their orders before I got my drinks. Some of them ordered AFTER me. I was also told the waffle would take a few minutes which I have no problem with. But getting the waffle first and then waiting almost 20 minutes more for the drinks was ridiculous. Smh. The employees always look lost and don't seem to communicate well with each other. I like that they have a myriad of items on their menu to choose from, but there are a lot of other boba joints in this area of the Mecca. May be a while before I return here. =/

Yelp
TASTE This place is a solid dessert spot that you know wont let you down! We got the pudding & Q mocha shaved ice! It was huge and fed 3 people comfortably. I really enjoy the mochi balls and taro balls! So many fun textures! The ice cream also adds a nice sweet element to the dish since its pretty bland in flavor. I would love it if they added condensed milk to the shaved ice! LOCATION Located in Mira Mesa since the one in convoy closed down :( in a plaza with lots of parking and other food spots if you wanted to grab something before getting dessert! PRICE Decent price, I think it came out to about $14 for this whole thing! A bit expensive but reasonable for how large the serving is TIPS I would recommend the mini taro balls!

Yelp
I really like meet fresh. Their q pudding shaved ice is my favorite. This location was the first time the workers were so rude though. I understand it can get busy, but I don't want unpleasant interactions.

Yelp
Meet Fresh is an interesting dessert place. I found it to be a bit expensive, but the treats they offer are unusual, being traditional Taiwan (mostly) taro-based delights. If you are a boba fan, this place will not disappoint! Being my first visit, I tried the Icy Taro Ball Signature, which was basically taro balls, taro paste, potato taro balls and boba over sweetened ice. Refreshing and delightfully chewy, without being excessively sweet. I really enjoyed it, even though it was over $10.00+tax with a couple of add-ins. If you want something different, this is a great treat. I imagine it is super refreshing on a hot summer day
