My husband and I had dinner at Meeting at Market. He had the chicken pot pie ,I had crab dip alone with 2 soft drinks. For dessert we both had vanilla malts, and we couldn't taste any malt in them. The food and service were good, but for what we got, it was way overpriced. This meal cost us $137. It was more of a $75 meal in my opinion. So my 3 star review is because of being overpriced.

Google
Bit pricey? Sure, but for ambiance, people watching, no wait, great drinks, and delicious (and heavy) starters? Worth it. We had the crab dip and short rib croquettes. To drink we had the Sweet Surrender (light and tropical!) and a local red ale(lots of local beers on tap).

Google
Server was nice, food was good, but felt prices were too high for food & drinks. Makes sense for a tourist area though.

Google
What a wonderful dining experience in the heart of downtown Charleston. The market views are excellent. Food was delicious and service was wonderful!

Came into to catch a basketball game while on vacation - very nice sports bar. Seated at a comfortable couch, staff changed the channel on tv so we could watch the game. Got a few drinks and beers, which were made quickly and tasted great. Staff very polite and attentive.

Google
The food was great and the restaurant was upscale. A place to definitely check out if you’re in Charleston.

I used to enjoy this restaurant but the prices have skyrocketed. $29 for a burger seems like… a lot. It was a pretty side salad though.

Google
I went here with my mother and sister and we enjoyed the food. I had the fries chicken sandwich and it was so juicy and flavorful. The last bite was as good as the first. Everyone else enjoyed their food! Our waitress was great! The whole staff was friendly! Enjoyed our experience.

Yelp
Food is absolutely delicious here, as is the bar service. Located at Charleston Place, it's classy, upscale and has a bougie food menu. All the things I enjoy. My husband came here on his own to watch some football while I napped in our nearby hotel room - when I woke up I asked him to order me the Cesar chicken wrap with the side salad. When it arrived I walked over to join him at the bar. Inside is beautiful and classically decorated, with a large and long bar that spans much of the back of the restaurant while the seating is then situated throughout along the floor to ceiling windows. The bartenders were friendly and attentive - despite how busy they were (New Years Eve at around 7pm) and the food was out promptly. The chicken wrap was sooo good as was the large and fresh side salad which was tossed in a very light dressing and was a huge portion for a side. I loved all the greens. My husband saw they had a Brookie skillet dessert and ordered that. He literally never orders dessert but he's a sucker for cookies and the brookie is his favorite thing. It was delicious but tasted more like brownie and less like cookie and is topped with a ton of marshmallow that kind of takes away from the cookie. Overall, loved the ambiance and location as well as the food! I wanted to come back the following day but hubs made me try somewhere else... lol.

Yelp
We sat at the bar and talked with a bartender who was from Turkey, but had worked and lived in several countries, made for great conversation! I believe his name was Ewra. They have a unique twist on the brie cheese that was pretty good. Our drinks were as well. We would definitely go back there for dinner some time since this time around, we just had drinks and an appetizer
google avatar

Chantel H.

Yelp
The side salad here was disgusting, full of wilted, slimy greens . Our server had to have noticed it wasn't touched and didn't offer to take it off the bill or ask about it/or anything. The Brie app was small and overly greasy--could easily make a better more appealing baked Brie at home. Overpriced sub-par food. Ambiance is cute though.

Yelp
Four of us stopped by during the afternoon to catch a few football games that were on. We were told there would be a wait of about 45 minutes. The hostesses were very kind and made sure that we were seated within the given wait time. Our server promptly arrived at our table to take our drink orders and she was very pleasant. All of the cocktails we ordered were fabulous and fresh. We decided to order some appetizers along with our drinks as well. The chicken wings were good but I did request them to be extra crispy but they were not. However they were still tasty. The pretzel board was delicious as well and was the perfect size for an appetizer. We did not order entrees but we hope to visit again soon to try them out! Great spot to catch some games, drinks, and snacks.

Yelp
Loved the host. He was as so professional and sweet. The mahi tacos paired with a jalapeno margarita were 10/10! Loved the recommendation from the server. Great spot for a drink or a quick bite to eat!

Yelp
Classiest bar I have ever watched a game in. We sat at the bar and our servers were the best. They helped us watch NCAA games we wanted to see (Boiler Up!) and kept checking in with us as the bar was busy. We orders the chopped salad, which was huge! We ended up splitting one and it was so good with a bit of a kick to it. We also had burgers that were so good! My lemon martini (can't remember actual drink name) was perfect! A very fun atmosphere to grab a bit to eat and or drinks located in the gorgeous Charleston Place. We were there Easter weekend and the decor was absolutely stunning!

Yelp
Unfortunately, Google maps said we had "Arrived!" But we couldn't find this place. We were trying to find addresses on several businesses but were unable to find it. A true "Mystery on Market" Sorry, not sorry.

Yelp
A big NOPE from us. The service was good. Our glasses kept filled. Order taken in a timely manner. It didn't take long to be seated, but longer than it should have, considering less than half the tables were occupied. As for the food, it took a very long time to arrive. My fish and chips: the chips were good and crisp. The fish batter was a bit on the dark side, but acceptable. It got soggy rapidly and I wound up removing the coating. My sister's BBQ pork sandwich: didn't arrive. A different sandwich did, with regular fries instead of sweet potato. The server took the sandwich back and was pretty quick (about 5 or 6 minutes) to bring the correct order, but this time the sweet potato fries were shriveled and dark - badly overcooked and inedible. Considering having to send the order back TWICE, one would think the management would try to smooth things over. A price adjustment or free drink.... something. But no. I guess they rely on the tourist trade and figure it either won't blow back or they don't really care if it does.

Yelp
First time there, decor is beautiful because it's situated inside of the Charleston Place hotel. Food is delicious highly recommend the Italian chop salad and the service was great if you're in Charleston try it.also the pretzel appetizer is great and it is a great for watching the game. TVs all over

Yelp
Need a nice lunch after walking miles around Downtown Charleston? Please visit the Meeting at Market. Their staff is so friendly and inviting. Though it is described to a be a pub, it felt so upscale for such a casual lunch. The cocktails are refreshing, and their menu items are light and easy to digest given their portions [pretty large]. We opted for the Italian Avocado Club Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries - and OH MY! It was amazing! We were seated with a view of the port, the tourist filled streets, and the Market across the street. The Meeting at Market is on one of my favorite corners of Downtown Charleston.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick bite before a concert. We didn't want anything heavy and this place filled the bill. The food was quick and quite good. We also had the house wine and also good. The blueberry lemon vinaigrette was absolutely fantastic. We had the Club sandwich with thick cut Turkey and thick cut bacon very very good with house fries which were thick and very good. The servers were nice and on the spot. TVs all around to check the scores as well.

Yelp
While visiting Charleston, my boyfriend and I had trouble walking into restaurants without a reservation. However, when we came across Meeting at Market, there was no wait whatsoever and they sat us immediately! The restaurant offers such delicious food and there is something for everyone. We ordered alcoholic drinks (margarita and beer) to pair with our food and enjoyed lava cake for dessert. I really enjoyed our dinner here. It was very hot outside though, so I was hoping our waiter would provide us with a second jug of water. However, our waiter was busy with other tables and we didn't end up interacting with him much. All in all, this was a nice way to end our first evening on the city. If we return to Charleston, I would definitely consider returning.
google avatar

Jana H.

Yelp
It was just okay! The positive is that we were able to sit immediately and had no wait. The menu seemed pretty basic and we ordered the fish quesadilla. It had good flavor, but wished there was more inside for the price that it was. Wait staff was nice and attentive.

Yelp
Very good location, hard to get a table because people are watching games on TV. People also were pretty noisy, I assume for place like that they should not allow people to scream and clap. Food selection is mediocre, some sandwiches, wraps... I am not very picky but had difficult time to choose something. They need to add more "restaurant" dishes. I think I had much higher expectations for this place. Food was just ok, nothing was wrong with it just not at the level I expected. Portobello sliders was the best part of the dinner. Those were really good. Salmon was decent and tacos were ok. I didn't like the small wine selection. So overall just an average place, nothing special.

John V.

Yelp
Nice place to watch a game- lots of TVs and accommodating staff to find your game. Good selection of local draft beer keeps things interesting. Food is what you would expect at a sports bar.

Yelp
Excellent food at reasonable prices in Charleston. Went in for a lunch to get out of sweltering heat. Food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Will definitely go again when in Charleston.

Yelp
I went to Meeting at Market with my grandmother and great aunt, and the food and service were exceptional. While the menu selection was small, the food was great quality. My grandmother and I both have celiac, and were excited that they have gluten free bread even though it was not advertised on the menu. I had the turkey club with vegetables (pictured) and could not recommend it enough. Our server Erica provided great customer service and was attentive to our dietary needs.

Sarah T.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! I tried the chicken pot pie and it's seriously the best I've ever had. My husband enjoyed the burger and sidewinder fries. He kindly shared with me, and I liked the burger and fries a lot too. Also love the decor and ability to people watch - we were fortunate to be seated by the windows.

Yelp
Hmmm, have you all ever been torn about how you should write a review? As I have gotten older, I try to give servers the benefit of the doubt. Covid became a pandemic, and some establishments have had to hire new staff; senior staff may be out of their routine, and people are going out more now, so the team could just be overwhelmed. I will assume this was the case this past Sunday night! I will admit, the place was packed due to numerous football games being played on multiple televisions. There was only one bartender, and it was a very long bar. I sat down, and the bartender took a few minutes, but she finally arrived and asked for my drink order. Now you all that read my reviews know I love Hendricks Gin. I ALWAYS get that with club soda. So I order my usual, and the bartender returns quickly with my drink. I take one sip, and LAWD, I almost passed out (not literally). No, she DIDNT have the nerve to put TONIC in my GIN! I absolutely HATE TONIC... plus, that ruins the taste of Hendricks Gin... well, in my opinion. I knew then that the bartender had something else on her mind. I mean, she immediately left to make my drink... so we are talking what less than five minutes. So here I go, giving the benefit of the doubt. As a former bartender, gin and tonic is a go-to drink for most, so I will admit that gin and club soda may have been different for the bartender and because she was busy, she defaulted to what I would consider her standard. However, she apologized and immediately corrected the problem. I did have to get her attention to put my food order in because she was entertaining guests at the other end of this extremely long bar. I ordered a Cobb salad with shrimp when it was all said and done. It was a fantastic salad, and I will certainly go back and have another one or perhaps try something else on the menu. In the end, the place is pretty impressive, and I hope they add a second bartender in the mix when the joint is packed like it was. If you are ever in Charleston, S.C., and you are looking for somewhere to watch the game and enjoy great food, go check this place out. When you do, tell'em Drew sent ya! Yall be Easy! Drew

Yelp
OMG, the Bibb lettuce with bacon salad was DIVINE! The sweet potato fries were delicious too! Love the booth seating in the corner. Thanks for a lively meal!

Yelp
First timer here and the experience was AH-MAZING!! Fantastic service (ask for Tanya), great margaritas, (kudos to John, the bartender) and the food was DELISH!! Simply exquisite tasting food. If you're looking for a pleasant dining experience, I highly recommend Meeting at Market!

Tommy S.

Yelp
Bad bad bad. Rude servers, wayyyyy overpriced, and bad experience. Avoid this place. Go to anywhere else it I'll be better. The only people they get are tourists because they don't know how much it sucks.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
Such a fantastic experience. Essence the hostess set the tone with her vibrant and welcoming personality. She was so sweet and extremely helpful despite it being busy. The food was delicious and our service was wonderful. A great slightly upscale casual spot.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Our server Becky was so incredibly welcoming and nice. She was helpful with her top 4 recommendations, and was very friendly and kind and made our night much more enjoyable. The Buffalo wings and pork mac and cheese were amazing. Ps Doogans is overrated !
google avatar

Yelp
Great service, great food, great venue. The location is fun and entertaining. There are a good amount of windows, and you're right next to the market. The burger and fries we ordered were delicious. The waitress was also nice enough to cut the burger in half, since I was sharing with my wife. The wings were also very tasty, with great sauces. I do recommend trying this place out.

Yelp
Stopped here due to a man handing out hush puppies earlier in the day on the corner, not realizing it was for another establishment down the street. We were looking for a late night spot and went with this location as it was open late and had on ball games around the bowl season time period. Nice open floor plan sports bar, menu was somewhat curt but still had everything needed for a bar, with additions like shepherds pie despite not having an Irish theme. We ordered a round of cocktails and waters, as well as put in an order of beer cheese fries. These were meh at best - with the cheese obviously sitting under a heat lamp for awhile as it had started to evaporate and got very odd texture-wise. Also the taste wasn't beer cheese but reminded me of a taco melted style cheese. To make matters worse - the fries were lukewarm underneath. Our drinks took forever to come out and when the waiter realized this he comped the drinks and both he and the manager apologized. Which was very nice and appreciated. For the meal I ordered fish and chips which I rarely ever do but I was feeling something other than a burger etc and in my head flipped a coin and decided on it. The fish choice of cod was very good - light and flaky and the beer batter on the fish was golden brown and came out seasoned and hot. The fries also were hot. Plus their tartar sauce was good too. I liked this place- and would recommend it if you are looking for that type of spot.

Amanda M.

Yelp
Went here to check out the scene before playoff games started. Was okay, a little overpriced for our taste, $12 for shoestring cheese fries that you could have got at McDonald's. Service was great though, seemed very genuine and willing to help. Windows looking out into the market were beautiful. Overall, nice place, but a little pricey for sport pub type food.
google avatar

Vijay S.

Yelp
Great sports bar in Charleston to watch games. Wonderful atmosphere and plenty of screens around. You can see them from the street itself. The wings here are prob one of the best I've ever had. Def recommend coming here if you're nearby.

Andrea B.

Yelp
Impressively bad food. Brussel spouts were doused in sauce, sweet potato fries were undercooked, and the fish quesadilla had no fish in it. It was close to inedible, sadly. I was surprised for the price and the location within a 5 star hotel. I normally don't leave bad reviews but this experience was noteworthy. Staff was nice.
google avatar

Rebel O.

Yelp
The pretzel Board was amazing and it had so many great things to eat fruit, sausages, sauces, procuitto berrys etc. Must have in Charleston.

Bonnie W.

Yelp
We happened upon this place while walking in downtown Charleston. We could see several open seats in the window and decided to head in to check it out. At first look of the menu, I didn't see anything that grabbed me but the server recommended the Smash Burger and the High Wire Fried Chicken and we decided to give it a try. Service was fantastic and the food was fabulous!!! We enjoyed it so much!! Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had! The Smash Burger was made of brisket, rib and sirloin and my hubby absolutely loved it! Lots of food...a great place that we didn't see mentioned time and time again on various social media platforms! This is a hidden gem

J. Vincent D.

Yelp
Walked by. Was looking for a place to eat lunch. It was closest and looked good from the outside. Ordered fish tacos. Spouse ordered a turkey club with a side salad. Both meals were as good as we've ever eaten. And the ranch salad dressing was the best. This food was prepared with skill and care. Kudos to Chef de Cuisine Andrew and an Amazing line cook Xavier! And of course our wonderful server Becky. Attentive, nice, great attitude. I partake in culinary creations all over the world. If I'm anywhere near downtown Charleston going forward, I will be there.

Yelp
Busy restaurant on a Saturday evening, came in for a drinks and dinner. After 2 days and a few restaurants visits this is the ONLY location that goes above and beyond during covid. We were immediately welcomed by Liz, she wore a mask and gloves. Temperature checks are done upon entering. Liz also explained masks must be worn when walking around the restaurant. The tables were separated by 6ft. All staff wore gloves and masks. We also noticed Liz clean the tables and chairs once guest left. We were given a paper menu and the menu was crumbled and tossed once we were done ordering. Again, the process was fantastic and the measures were reassuring. I did notice as did the waitress that yelp has older pics of food and their menu constantly changes. Here's what was ordered; Drinks: I ordered a margarita on the rocks w/ don julio. The margarita was great. Entree: Barbacoa Tacos w/ side Cesar salad, blackened fish tacos w/ street corn as a side. The food was ok, street corn was not what I expected. Overall great option, if you are near city market. excellent COVID measures taken. The staff were great.

Yelp
We came to Meeting on Market on a Sunday hoping to watch some football games. The place was packed but the host / manager was super helpful and determined to find us a table, and then to find us another table where we would have better view of the game we were interested on. I was really impressed right from the start. We ordered some beers and placed an order for food. We both went for the fish and chips which ended up being a giagantic portion and would have been enough for two people to share. I was not blown away by the dish, but it was good fish. This is a great place on a great location for NFL, all games playing on multiple TVs across the bar. Street parking was challenging but there are a couple of cheap city garages in the vicinity. Will probably come back next Sunday!

Gerald C.

Yelp
Nice place. Great if you're into sports because there are lots of TVs with various games on. The service was attentive and the food was good pub-style food. I had the BBQ Burger. Solid, tasty. Good fries. My wife had a salad and added shrimp to it. She quite enjoyed it. I recommend it for when you want a reasonably priced meal without the hassle of long lines or reservations.
google avatar

Yelp
What a great day it was to check out and really enjoy the quietness of this sports bar located just inside the Charleston Place mall. Normally when I go by it's packed with people but today not so much. We got a table with a fabulous view of the market and meeting street. I loved sitting there watching the world go by with my excellent coffee and service to boot. The windows are abundant floor to ceiling with a view from every angle. They have several TVs with sports on (not my thing) it's a perfect spot for those that do not want to traipse through the market or touristy shops but need to wait for those that do. My buddy had the street corn and said it was very good. I did not have any food. The whole experience was relaxing and very enjoyable. So pop in & chill in a cool environment with great views of the world passing by.
google avatar

Amber A.

Yelp
It's the sports bar located in The Charleston Place down the corridor from the Belmond Hotel. I really enjoyed kicking back here after shopping and touring the city to get a quick, relatively inexpensive bite and drink. Lots of TV's to watch sports and bar chairs to sit at the bar. High tops and low tables available for larger groups and while this place is super busy; it's also very chill. I was in Charleston for a week during Christmas, so this place became a nice respite from all the large meals with expensive price tags. So, if you need an escape from being a foodie and just want to pop into a regular bar type restaurant with good eats comfort food and a casual "seat yourself" atmosphere, this will be right for you.
google avatar

Allison J.

Yelp
Received bad news at work and needed a break so I took myself to lunch. Atmosphere was wonderful and my salad even better. Wine was so chilled - almost like a beer. Exactly what was needed on this hot day in Charleston! Made my bad day much better.
google avatar

Kuch N.

Yelp
Very expensive but very refreshing. My wife and I got a great seat by the window even though we were just ordering drinks. It was a nice spot to cool off and take a break from the rush of the city. I got the Golden Boot cocktail which was phenomenal even though I typically take my whisky neat.

Chuck K.

Yelp
Man, talk about an s show with high prices and bad servers, this is it! I don't mind having fun where we can drop off some cash and get some better than average snacks and bar tenders that are awake, but this is the opposite. In for the week. Check out Amen Street by a bunch over this snooty f hole imho.
google avatar

Genetta A.

Yelp
We stopped in for a cooling off, didn't know much about the place. Our waitress was super nice the charcuterie board is big enough to share. Nice view of the City Market, the play list was playing hits from '80s and '90s.
google avatar

Chadwick F.

Yelp
Good Location and very clean bar with TVs to watch sports. Required the manager to seat us at the bar which had tons of seats available. Staff was just very disinterested. Felt like they 100% hated their jobs. Lacked the southern charm you'd normally associate with Charleston. Food was decent, drinks were OK. A place that just needed more energy.

Juan I.

Yelp
This is my first time in Charleston and at this establishment. The place was packed with the Augusta masters happening this weekend, regardless of this the service was fast and the food was really good. Not you place if you are looking for a culinary experience, but it did the job. They have a nice beer selection. Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Solid burger. Very thick, comes with lots of bacon. I didn't love the flavor, it could have used more seasoning but it was a healthy serving and I ordered the side salad which was all very crisp and fresh. The interior is upscale and very well thought out. It's modern but not jarringly so when considering the city. The warm wood, well placed lighting & turquoise jewel tones make for a very aesthetically pleasing restaurant and bar. The floor to ceiling windows let in a lot of natural light and gives patrons the opportunity to people watch those heading to the Charleston market, a popular city attraction in the heart of downtown. The set up is thoughtfully laid out, well positioned tables. The exposed brick adds to the modern vibe but does not give it a trendy feel. It's got taste. And comfortable bar stools! I liked the clientele here. It was an older crowd, not young college kids. It was mature, mellow, posh group. I'd definitely return for the beautiful surroundings and ambiance if nothing else, not to mention the people watching. I'd give one of their other entrees a try...
google avatar

Cass B.

Yelp
Stopped in to cool off and grab a cocktail. Was seated promptly and ordered the Carolina Jasmine which was amazing! Our waitress was very kind and friendly! Will visit again the next time we are in town!
google avatar

Sydney G.

Yelp
I tried Meeting at Market for the first time with the #TastemakersCHS group, where we shared a bunch of apps and entrees from the happy hour menu. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience, as long as you like pub-style food (which I definitely do). I tried the crostini, which you can choose up to 3 different kinds. I opted for the avocado with shrimp, prosciutto and roasted tomato, and beer and blue cheese. They were all really good, but the beef was by far my favorite! They have a good number to choose from, so you can mix and match a couple of times without repeating. I also tried a pimento cheese hot dog and it was a pretty tasty hot dog. I haven't been impressed with a hot dog in a while, so this is definitely one of the better dogs I've had downtown.

Yelp
The smash burger is alright. The fries are mad good. The dirty gun martini is fire as well. Gotta give my overall score 8/10. Service was good. Food was good.BUT I ain't gonna call home about it.

Yelp
First date, perfect location, great food, great service at the bar, unable to get a table at 8:30 at night(there were plenty I guess they were getting ready to close down) will return early in the evening or afternoon so we can sit at a table...

Yelp
Wow! What a great place to find! We were tired and road weary and wanted a stiff drink and some good food. We found it! Thank you to the bartender, Michael that made our experience top of the line. From the moment we sat down he made us feel comfortable and welcome. We had some amazing Pub Chips then I had had the blackened fish tacos (great flavor!) and hubby had the burger ( cooked correctly and very good). We finished up with the chocolate bread pudding which tasted more like a fudge brownie. Great experience and we can't wait to come back!!
google avatar

Corliss H.

Yelp
This was a fun hangout spot! We didn't feel like eating a whole meal and there was a basketball game that hubby wanted to see so we yelped and decided to give this place a try. Winner!!!! The seating area toward the back is a comfy leather and fabric banquette that curves and makes cool nooks for parking yourself and relaxing. They have nice small tables and short club chairs to round out the seating. We picked a back corner and the channel for his game was already on, and she indicated that she would be happy to change the channel on a TV for what we wanted when we first entered the restaurant. We ordered the ploughman's platter and a couple of beverages. The relish type sauce was outstanding, I can't recall the name but it's a British relish with pickled root veggies in a vinegar, dark slightly sweet sauce. She advised us to butter a piece of bread, spread a little of the relish and top with a piece of cheese. It's makes a great complex mix of flavors in your mouth. We enjoyed hanging out here and would definitely go back for a meal or to watch a game if we return to Charleston.
