"Lots of bars serve food, but few have dishes that stand out as much as the drinks. At this Olde Richmond spot, you'll almost always find dates and friends crowding the courtyard with mystery wine and perfect negronis, club sandwiches, hot roast beef, and one of the best salads in the city. The great food and lively energy makes this fun bar worth crossing town for—even if you're not drinking." - alison kessler, candis mclean
"In our work Slacks, the Infatuation Philly team lovingly refers to this salad as "THEE salad." It looks like a blooming flower on a plate. Or maybe a birthday cake built with a perimeter of crisp romaine. Either way, the center has stacks of tiny leaves and a crown of watercress. And dijon vinaigrette with shallots and chive flecks give the whole thing a refreshing, acidic punch. It’s probably the greenest salad you’ll ever meet." - candis mclean, alison kessler
"We didn't expect to have this much fun at an Olde Richmond tavern serving turkey clubs and Guinness. But we were hooked after trying to guess the mystery wine and talking to a stranger about who would be on a hypothetical cheesesteak Mount Rushmore. Meetinghouse feels like a true neighborhood spot. People gossip at the bar, the team works with a brewery in New Jersey to make their beer, and the food leans simple, British, and very good. Even if you don't live nearby, get here on a Saturday night and leave in a great mood." - candis mclean
"Grabbing cocktails in public can be a little tense, especially when truth-filled confessions start around drink three. But this casual Port Richmond bar has seen it all: rants from cheating exes, friends celebrating a break up, and the weird guy who orders salads without dressing. This makes it a great place to ask some hard questions or bare your soul. After a few Long Islands on tap and bites of their juicy roast beef sandwich and fries, you’ll figure out if they’re looking for a friend, a long-term commitment, or just someone to take to their cousin’s wedding so they don’t get judged by their aunt. Just be sure they dress their greens." - candis mclean
"Olde Richmond’s Meetinghouse knows that there are few things more comforting than sitting at a bar, wearing your favorite sweatshirt, and biting into a sandwich with a pint handy. They also know Memphis Taproom was a notoriously cozy dive, and that’s why they opened in the same space. Filled with lots of chatter, stained glass windows, and blue tile all around, it’s the kind of place that makes you feel right at home. The menu is British-ish, with dishes like turkey clubs (our favorite), cutlets, and grilled pork steak. There’s a TV up front where you can catch a game and booths in the back where you can sip on a mystery wine—they cover the bottle in blue tape—and catch up with a few friends surrounded by candles." - candis mclean
