Sour puss faces from older staff when you walk in the door!!! Please don’t eat here. Bad attitude from older-aged server making a comment under her breath at the counter about my spouse holding his hand up to get a server to come by. Unfriendly, unprofessional attitude! Please find another job if you can’t be nice to customers! Don’t act like you are doing us a favor by serving our food! Paper cups for hot beverages. Rushing you to leave (in the off season) by placing your check on the table early into your meal. Scrambled eggs are served into diced-pieces and when commented to server got an attitude and rude response. This place is not welcoming! We will not eat here again! Try another breakfast place! There are many on the island that will appreciate your business and have a welcoming staff!

Took the day off for a girls' day with my sister & daughter. We made our way their for breakfast like we always do. Their food is so good & fresh. We sat outdoors to soak in the sun that morning and watched everyone walking by and shopping in the local stores nearby. It's like going home. 🙂

This was the most fun spot for breakfast! Coffee was limited to basic options but the food was so good! Generous portions. Love the fun, eclectic vibe inside this space.

If you want to eat in a place that makes you feel completely unwelcome eat at Meg’s. Service served with a scowl and waitresses walking around making rude comments under their breath for customers to hear. I’ve given this place more than one opportunity to disprove that it is nothing but a bunch of rude people working for tips serving you food on paper plates with an attitude. Going out to eat is supposed to be an enjoyable experience. We’re not supposed to go out to eat to be made to feel like a burden to the people that we are giving our hard earned money to. Cant wait for a better place to take over someday. Thank you see you next week

We came in and had Terry and she was amazing. Provided Intel on the best breakfast as well as provided us with coffee as soon as it was finished. She was on top of her game and funny all-around great person.

Staff is extremely rude and unwelcoming. Told us to go wait in our car, they never called us. We waited for over an hour and still never received a call. Will never be back.

Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Had a typical diner breakfast bacon, eggs, home fries, rye toast. Perfectly cooked. Friend had a southwest wrap. Excellent. We sat at the counter, and the staff was so kind and engaging. No negative talk going on. Just a great experience.

Great service food fast and tasty. Party of 11 and seated fast. They knew we were coming from a funeral service. Omelettes were great no complains. Great weather seating outside.

Cute diner! Had breakfast with a friend - waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. I ordered the Clean Plate - everything was great! I highly recommended this place if you're in the area!

Great year-round local spot. Maybe more crowded bc post Thanksgiving surge? Regardless, efficient but not rushed service, great menu, reasonable prices for quality. My breakfast- properly over-easy eggs, crispy potatoes, griddled pork roll. Toast was actually toasted, not just warmed. Dish came out fresh off the grill hot. Maybe not rocket science, but these cooks/ servers delivered an excellent breakfast while busy, not an easy or typical accomplishment!

Cute little place serving good fresh food. The service was lukewarm and abrupt. I don't know if it's cause I was dining alone, But as I finished my meal, someone asked how was everything, I could have used more water about halfway through my meal but nobody came over. Then someone slapped my bill down without asking me if I wanted anything else. I've been coming to Lavalette for 4 years, Two times per year and this has always been my experience

Best coffee in town!!! Banana pancakes are to die for. Lots of bananas & the service is amazing. I'd show you a picture but it's gone!

It took about 40 minutes for our breakfast food to come out, and I get they were busy but it still seemed a bit much. We barely got checked on and they have so much wait staff for such a small place that was weird to me. We had thought about ordering sandwiches to go for later but based on the time it took for the breakfast food decided against it. Good thing because we had just got our food and no more than 10 minutes after it came out someone came and slapped a bill on our table barely looked at us and said no rush and didn't ask if we wanted or needed anything else. We just got our food even if we had been there a while, it was because it took so long for food to come out, seemed kind of rude. When I was pouring syrup on my pancake the whole lid popped off and dumped so much on my entire plate and I didn't say anything to anyone cause no one came by and we already had our check. Luckily I already ate my eggs so they didn't get doused in syrup. I grew up in Lavallette but don't live here anymore and I always loved coming to Meg's. I have come here and there over the years since I'm not that far, and I've never had an experience like this so it really threw me off. I will probably never come back and that makes me a little sad since it was such a staple growing up, and the food IS good and very fairly priced. I don't know if it was an off day or what but I will probably never come back.

We all love Meg's Grill. The friendliest staff work here! We especially love Teresa! She is so fun to talk to when we are there! We love all the staff as well! It's a great place for breakfast and lunch!!

Meg's is absolutely one of the best hidden gems! Everything on the menu looks delicious. They are so creative with their menu selections. The atmosphere is so beachy and comfortable. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Meg (the owner), Terry, Laurie, Julie, Colleen, Tara, Danielle and the summer help are all awesome. Highly recommend Meg's. We love it there!

Meg's grill is amazing and so is Terry. We came in starving. Terry quickly got us coffee and provided us with knowledge on the best breakfasts on the menu. She was funny. She made the stay relaxing and comical. She's an all-around great person.

Solid brunch spot in jersey shore! This place is bustling, I did not expect it to be so busy but clearly this is the place to be on a Sunday morning! There was about a 30 minute wait, but there's ample chairs and free coffee for you while you wait! Food: the food was pretty solid, nothing mind blowing but simple and good! I had the south side wrap without ham, and it had a lot of flavor! The side of home fries was my favorite! We also got a short stack of blueberry pancakes, which resembled your diner pancakes! Service: they are pretty busy but they try and get to you fast and are attentive Price: reasonably priced!

Ben here a bunch of times - no frills decent food good prices. Ordered something to take out which was not a great experience. I know it's a holiday weekend etc. Asked for 2 side orders of something, checked the bag and there was just one container. Went back in and asked about it - Was told the 2 orders were combined in one container- why? I haven't bring this to 2 different people? And it wasn't a whole lot of the item in the container either. So another disappointing event at a local shore restaurant- would love to patronize the local businesses but they need to do it right. So I was charged $9 for 5 pieces of bacon? It's not right. So another place crossed off my list

Just spent the week in Lavallette and due to it being Preseason and covid, many places were not yet open. We tried out Megs for lunch on Day 1 and ended up coming multiple times for takeout lunch, breakfast outdoors, etc. Every time our food was fresh and delicious and the service was quick. My French toast at breakfast was DELICIOUS!!! I will definitely be back!!

Meg's was the final stop on our noble chum posse adventure in Lavallette, and a pleasant one. We had a crew of five people for this meal, and thankfully were able to get seated almost immediately upon arrival. It was a Tuesday mid-morning, with a decent crowd throughout the restaurant and in the small outdoor dining section. My memory of this adventure involved a lot of squinting - I foolishly went into the ocean the day before with my sunglasses on and promptly lost them to the sea, so the 15-minute walk to Meg's in the sun was not one of my favorites. Obviously not Meg's fault. Leave your prized possessions under the cabana. Upon menu perusal, I immediately imprinted on Meg's Scramble, which was basically a pile of eggs, cheese, home fries and bacon. It was like a breakfast sandwich threw up on my plate in the best way possible. You can see from the attached that it was a giant portion, not even including the four pieces of pre-buttered toast. In hindsight I'm not sure how I polished this off and still managed to eat anything else the rest of the day, but perhaps that's the power and beauty of vacations. Very scrumptious though - if you're in the mood for a hearty, savory, dish, it's hard to go wrong with something like this. And at $9, the price point was one of the best I saw down the shore, though honestly a lot of them were pretty decent. Everyone else was pleased with their meals as well. In true diner fashion, Meg's had paper placemats with a collection of local business advertisements, which prompted a fun "I spy" game focused on the tinier objects in the pictures (try to find the dinosaur). We didn't have to wait particularly long for our meals, but that certainly helped pass the time a bit. On our way out, I literally got a parting gift. Meg's, like many establishments in a touristy area, has a line of apparel/merchandise for sale. I fell immediately in love with a blue long-sleeved shirt with a sasquatch on it, which was one of my prized mementos from this delightful shore excursion. And it's not cheap, coarse material rubbing against your skin that you regret purchasing the minute you put it on. It will be a part of my noble wardrobe for quite a while, I suspect. One of the reasons Jersey has such an affinity for its diners is because they're so easy, and I mean that in the best way. You're getting a predictable, consistent experience and typically ordering off a menu with a lot of options to choose from. It's nearly impossible not to find something you're in the mood for. This wasn't one of the more memorable places we stopped (apart from the sasquatch shirt), but it did what it was supposed to do, and that's most of the battle.

ok I LOVE MEGS GRILL!!!!! GO THERE !!!! so many reasons why. I am not from Lavallette, and it has that "hidden gem" feel to it. It's small, but in a way that makes it feel "homey". Spending a lot of my summer in Lavallette, I can confidently say there is no better breakfast place than Meg's :-) Once you're seated, the staff is quick to come greet you. They get you set up with coffee, water, tea, etc. and then come back to check on you to take your order. The menu has everything you could ask for in terms of breakfast. Your simple eggs and toast, pancakes, all the way up to fun sandwiches and wraps. They're also very accommodating towards vegetarians. As someone who does not really eat meat, I was able to get any of the sandwiches without meat. I've never been told "no" to a sub/accommodation i've asked for. And for what it's worth, I've tried ALL of the sandwiches :-). SO GOOD!! If you read this far, GO TO MEGS!!!

Waited outside for a table. Was told 30 minutes which I understood. Weather wasn't great so more people probably went out for breakfast. Not a problem. Sat inside, waitress took our drink orders right away. Came back a few minutes later for the food order. Hot coffe was very good, always a big thumbs up with me. The issue after giving the food order was waiting for the food. It was probably a 30-40 minute wait for the food. I understand the place is busy, but I was with two other people. I ordered am omelette, my wife a grilled cheese, and my daughter had some eggs with French toast. I'm sorry, but you cannot make the customer wait that long for that type of meal. Food was decent, nothing great. Being so hungry I'm not sure I even tasted it. The waitress disappeared after dropping off our meals. She only came back to drop the check off. I asked for a refill on my coffee. She never came back. Another waitress grabbed the credit card on the table and took care of it and brought back my refill.

Great food. Cute little hometown restaurant by the beach. Staff is nice. Can't get near the place in the summer so we enjoy it on the off season and do pickup during the summer.

Overall a good place for breakfast. A hopping place in the morning. Had to wait a little while for our food though.

So happy I finally got to eat here. The waitress Colleen was so friendly and was hustling around the restaurant. The menu had so many options and the "clean-up set" combo was so good. The home fries were so amazingly flavorful. Such a cute place for breakfast and lunch, with outside seating.

Love Meg's ! Food is spectacular, the price is really unbeatable. The staff is super welcoming & attentive and with an open floor plan they can't miss you, you can't miss them! Such a cute little staple in a great area. Definitely recommend!

The food is always fresh and delicious! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. When it is busy, it's nice to be able to have a cuppa coffee while you wait sitting outside on the benches. There's also game for the kids and talk a bowl of water for your dog and the prices are wonderful. Totally recommend this place.

Stopped in with a friend who lives in Lavalette on a Saturday morning. Not crowded, we were able to get a comfortable table right away. I ordered my usual western omelette and really liked the way they served it up! It was constructed with finely chopped ham, onions and peppers all together on the inside enrobed in a paper thin omelet wrap. The toast and home fries were on point as was the bottomless cup of coffee.

Megs is the best and has been going strong for 18 years . The food and service are tops . In fact , the best food in town . Don;t go anywhere else . MEGS is perfect

Very cute, none of the tables match which I think gives it an authentic and cool vibe. There is outside service on nice days. You get a ample breakfast and the only gripe I have is the last time I was here - NO Gluten Free options primarily toast. That is why I didn't give 5 stars... I really don't understand why every eatery doesn't have a loaf of Gluten Free Bread on hand since this is not a "trend". There are many of us with real sensitivities to wheat and gluten. There is a long wait on weekends so I'd avoid this place and go during the week

One of my favorite places to get breakfast or lunch. You feel like you're visiting a real local place, the food is excellent, and is at a very fair price. Love the coffee, French toast, and the omelettes are the best around. It's only a block from the beach so if you have to wait for a table it's always nice to take a short walk and see the ocean.

Nothing fancy. Place is cute, serviceable, and food is fresh. Fits with the vibe of the town. Very casual.

Went there for brunch in July. We sat outside. It took a while for our food to arrive considering the place wasn't busy. The toast was lukewarm. I had a feeling our order had been sitting around before it was brought to our table. I had an omelette with home fries that were clearly from a box, not homemade. Most of the the vegetables inside my omelette were either canned or frozen. Canned mushrooms? yuck! At least, the coffee was good. Not sure why this place is so popular. It does have a nice atmosphere, but the food was just mediocre and it took a while for the food to arrive at our table, so I'll stick to Lava Java which has real home fries and better service.

Great diner. Been here a few times in the past , usually pick up in the morning. Had family in town today so decided to dine in here. Great service, highly recommend any of the omelets on the menu.

Good, solid american brunch, well seasoned and the tater tots were very crispy and delicious. Th omelette was very homey, but not enough filling. My wife had the Clean Up set, which had everything. One thing I didn't like was how the staff handled the bread that came on your plate. A couple of the servers who also doubled as hostess, busing plates were distributing the bread with their bare hands in between other chores.

Food was okay but the service was horrible . Waitress spilled my orange juice and left the wet napkins and everything for us to clean up and didn't even bring us more . We didn't see our waitress the whole time we were eating . We had to get our own napkins and new utensils . No thanks.

Meg's does breakfast perfectly! I asked for my omelette not well done, and it was absolutely perfect. Great portion size too. Our server Colleen was a delight. Plus, it's BYOB so we got champagne at the liquor store next door. After a night of drinking, Meg's Grill will be your lifeboat. Can't wait to come back!

Would highly recommend. Me and my girlfriend had lunch this afternoon and it was busier than normal on a Sunday of a holiday weekend in a shore town which was to be expected. So of course it took a little longer than normal to receive our food. The owner (I'm assuming. Or at very least the manager on duty) came over and apologized and comped our meal. In addition, she brought us out a free plate of xut fresh fruit and gave us a $30 gift card. Highly unexpected and appreciated. Will definitely be back and we made sure to properly take care of the wait staff.

Breakfast is always good here. No complaints. Tons of food. Good service. Sometimes fils up.

I tried this restaurant for the first time today. Everything was great. As we walked in, the staff was cleaning the tables, seats and condiments. The staff was so friendly. The menu looked awesome and extensive but I had to try their chicken salad because that's always my go to. My sandwich and my husband's Cuban panini were both excellent. The fries were super hot, the way we like them. The prices were very reasonable.

Excellent Breakfast & Lunch/Brunch!! Open Yearly and a Hot Spot for the Locals year round as well as all vacationers! Eat inside or Outside or order for Curbside Pickup for yourself & guests! Great traditional breakfast as well as Omelettes & Breakfast wraps/burritos! Lunch Menu is Awesome as well!! Love all their Sandwiches and wraps and Panini Sandwiches! Only Open until 3 or 4 PM so get it early or lunch after the beach . Highly Recommended! Jim ~@Lava.

I've only been to this place a few times and have only ever gotten take-out from here, but food service for pick up is always quick and friendly. The food is pretty average in my opinion, and the Old Faithful (pork roll, egg, and cheese) could've used more substance as I felt I was just eating bread. They do give a generous side of home fries which are well seasoned and tasty. Overall, reliable place at a reasonable price but does always seem to be crowded when I pass by.

LOVE this place!! There is always a wait so prepare for it, it's a smallish breakfast/lunch joint right on the main strip. This past time we sat at the counter after about a 20 min wait (told us 40). It was really cool to sit up there and watch the guys on the grill work their asses off. I was so impressed by their speed and multi-tasking and how they were just churning out dish after dish. It's also refreshing to see the same faces there every time on both the grill and the server side. I always see the same group of people working and it's refreshing. The one guy waiter is one of the nicest, chillest people and always seems to be in a good mood which can be contagious. Today I got the Detour which is a turkey panini with provolone, roasted red peppers, avocado and spinach, it's delicious. My girlfriend got a sausage and cheddar omelette with home fries which are seasoned well. Highly recommend this place, best place in the area for breakfast, we come almost every weekend that we're down at the beach. Sorry, forgot pictures because we are always so hungry and just scarf down our food!

love megs. it's a smallish comfortable and very cozy. I'm local so I can take advantage of megs in the off season . it still attracts a crowd but not too bad. the food is excellent. I love their pancakes, or omelets. my,kids have had other food here and love it. I've also had lunch here and love their chicken salad. Recommend it highly.

We have been coming here for years and the food, service & hospitality are always excellent. In response to Diana M.'s review, it was unfair as we were sitting right next to them and overheard the conversation, which was just that...it was communicated very politely asking to turn the phone down. We will be back! Thanks Meg for a great lunch!

Great breakfast and quick service. There will always be a line over the summer months but it goes quick!
