This is the place you go when you want to impress your friends/guests. Chef Peter is an artisan that is also a genius, kind and personable. His food is impeccable.

Second time at this restaurant with my wife. We have been thoroughly impressed both times by the service and quality of food. Highly recommend this restaurant. Tonight we were able to experience the tasting menu, and it was lovely. 8 course of great food. Stand outs were the baby scallops, pomegranate tuna and kobe (real A5) dish that was probably 6 ounces of real Kobe beef. Everything was excellent. Can’t wait to go back,

I read some of the 1 star reviews on here and see the reviewers really telling on themselves with regard to their lack of culinary prowess. I'll address their complaints: "The chef started bringing out stuff we didn't order" - Not true. You ordered it, you're just just too stupid to understand the menu and know you did order it. This restaurant is a Michelin rated experience. This is how Michelin level restaurants work. You place your trust into the chef. He totally takes care of you including making decisions for you. Learn what a Michelin experience is before you come in here expecting Kroger grocery store discount sushi. Every one of you that left a 1-star review show us all that you don't need to be in this restaurant, and you should be ashamed of yourself. Get educated before you go troll this person's reputation on internet with your nasty, unfair review. Now for my review: This is the best sushi on the planet! This place flies in their sushi from Japan, and it is the very highest quality to be found. We ordered the top level experience, and the chef hit us with wave after wave of nothing but excellence. The chef visited our table several times during the meal to see how things were going as well as to give us clues as to what was coming out next! This is a Michelin experience, and people who know what a MIchelin experience is look for top-notch places like this. By the end of the meal the Chef had us so full and satisfied! Not only was the food great, but learning more about how not all sushi is created equal was an experience that made us all more polished foodies. I will be back!

My husband and I had an amazing meal at this restaurant. The fish was so fresh and flavorful. It literally melted in your mouth. We have found our new favorite sushi restaurant. We also enjoyed one of the French delicacies. Everything was top notch. We had the joy of speaking with the chef and owner. The whole experience was delightful. We will be back. Please try this restaurant. You are in for a real treat!

We went with a group of 9 for my wife’s birthday. The chef’s hospitality is only matched by his food. He has a Michelin star from prior chef experiences. We had the ostrich entree as a table appetizer along with the tuna tatami and a wagyu carpaccio. There was equal dining from both the French and the Japanese menus. The sushi/sashimi platters are some of the freshest fish I have had. Many of their fish they bring in daily or weekly from Japan. Don’t sleep on the black cod either. Lastly, and not least, the ginger vinaigrette on their house sale is something I would love to bottle.

We had a delightful experience. The service was excellent with the staff knowledgeable and efficient. Chef even came out to say hi and make sure everything was good. We really enjoyed the Japanese soup dumplings! The karage was also great and something we haven't been able to find since we were in Japan.

Our encounter with this restaurant is just as weird as what the other comments said. We went in during lunch time, but the restaurant was completely empty without even any staff out there. You can tell that they're trying to brand it as an upscale restaurant, yet you can also sense their lack of budget with their interior design. It was nice to talk to the chef for a bit, but he seemed to be the only person working here during the day time, so the service was fairly slow. Sometimes he also had to answer phone calls for takeout orders. The chef seemed more experienced with bigger and fancier dishes, so the display of the bigger dishes looked significantly better than smaller dishes we ordered. Since the chef mentioned that he could speak Japanese, we assumed that he must make very authentic Japanese food. Yet the food turned out to look nothing like what I expected with much more amount of raw fish. I started feeling a bit sick after eating the raw fish. I don't think the quality of the fish necessarily had issues, but the menu should specify more about which dishes involve raw meat.

Yelp
Megu is one of the most underrated Japanese restaurant I've had the pleasure of visiting. They have a variety of eating experiences, ranging from affordable stable Japanese dishes to high-quality sushi/sashimi to high-end omakase. No matter what your budget is, you will have an amazing experience. My gf and I were fortunate enough to be served by the chef himself. He is clearly passionate about his craft and his materials. Based on his recommendations, we ordered a squid salad and a Kobe beef miso ramen. The squid was extremely tasty and fresh. The beef though, was on another level...The chef used A5 grade beef and he was generous with the beef portion as well. My ramen bowl was full of meat with that melt-in-your-mouth beefy A5 flavor. What's better is that the bowl was only $29. I've been to restaurants where a single sampling size of the same beef with the same quality is already easily $5. While we were eating, the chef also received shipment from the fish delivery guy and we had the chance to take a quick sneak peek. The fish was extremely fresh and delivered whole. Chef said that they were imported straight from Japan. Although we didn't try the sushi this time, rest assured that any piece of sushi/sashimi that you taste in this restaurant is of the freshest quality and comes from fish that is butchered right here in the restaurant. I can't wait to come back for a more thorough deep-dive into what chef has to offer.

Yelp
Don't let the office building facade fool you! Inside is a high end, beautiful restaurant. At close to 6 on a Saturday, I was surprised we were the only table, but a few more filled up as we dined. Pros: Peter, the owner and chef, greeted our table and told us his sushi specials, which are flown in special from Tokyo every Friday so they change weekly. We had the o-toro, chu-toro, aji, and fluke, and all were amazing quality and you got a lot of fish for the price. They have a lot of sushi combos and platters to service a variety of sizes of parties. We had the sushi combo which was plenty of fish, especially with the cut sizes. Wait staff was very attentive and helpful with the menu. Cons: the entrance is a little off putting but you shouldn't let that deter you. the french menu was lacking in my opinion. There is only one page of options, and we ended up not ordering anything french since the japanese was so appealing. I would've liked to see some seafood or more small plates. Overall the fish quality and piece sizes will keep me coming back! I definitely want to try some of the hot plate options as well. add it to your list!

Yelp
I haven't even finished my dining experience and I'm already posting a review on YELP. RUN DON'T WALK TO MEGU! I can't believe this place exists in Fort Worth Texas. To start, Superb service! The owner warms your heart! Underrated indeed.. but this dining experience is truly a GEM! The ambiance is every bit elegant and is a hybrid of French and Japanese elements! Me and my family were very impressed overall, and will definitely be treating our visitors and friends to this incredible dining experience!

Yelp
This is some of the best sushi and for a great price. The boats are an amazing deal. The chef is so kind as well. The curry puffs were a must.

Yelp
We've now gone to MEGU twice. Both times absolutely blown away by the food and service. Servers & chef were so sweet, accommodating & knowledgeable of the menu Atmosphere- perfect for date night, I noticed a few groups dining in as well. Currently BYOB, with no corkage fee. Parking is easy and accessible Cannot wait to come back & I will absolutely recommended to everyone They're open for lunch, which I can't wait to drop in for!

Yelp
As others have said, an ambience is really odd. We were the only ones in the restaurant. The chef came over and was friendly but it started to get very strange at the end of the meal. They were out of some items that I tried to order. I don't think any one food group was well executed. Nothing tasted fresh. I was actually shocked we didn't get food poisoning although the saving grace could be that everything seemed so overly cooked. We ordered duck buns and the duck was like microwaved wood. The sushi had a very odd taste to it and tasted like cat fish. There was absolutely no skill in the slices of fish. They were either really thick or way too thin. Towards the end of the meal, the chef Sat in the corner and watched us eat. I hate to say this but I would not be back, nor could I recommend. It was a really cute idea and in theory seemed too good to be true, and it was.

Yelp
Just to preface this - I'm a sushi snob. I grew up in Southern California where the sushi is always fresh. I'm also part Japanese! Lol. This place absolutely exceeded expectations. The location is a bit strange, but it makes for a more eclectic experience. The sashimi is super fresh and melts in your mouth like butter. It's honestly the best sushi I've had since being in Texas, and we will absolutely be back. The chef is super personable and an amazing human as well. Double thumbs up!

Yelp
Great quality fish and food, attentive and personable service, and was set like a typical traditional Japanese restaurant. My husband and I went for a date night and were just really pleased with the overall experience.

Yelp
** THIS PLACE IS BYOB!!! You have to bring your own booze as they do not sell any on site!!! *** I was looking for a different place for dinner, and found this while looking for French restaurants. Japanese and French? Weird, right? Yes. 1) The restaurant is located in the sub-floor of an office building. It's small. While some of it is decorated nicely with unique wallpaper and stonework, the rest is bland - white walls, large windows covered by that opaque window coverings. Not much to look at as you face it. 2) We had reservations for Saturday night. You will not need reservations. Not many people there. 3) No dress code. It doesn't feel upscale despite the prices. 4) Yes, the chef will greet you and talk to you at your table. We felt honored and he clearly has a lot of knowledge and pride in his place. 5) It's not a fusion place. They have 2 separate menu books. One Japanese, one French. 6) Service was, off. Our waiter was nice enough. But it was slow going. My wife ordered from the Japanese menu, I from the French. She got a lot of her food in 20 minutes. I didn't see anything for about 45. We overheard they only had one chef/cook working. Also, our waiter told us the Japanese names for the fish and the Japanese names of the CUTS of fish. Who is going to know or remember that? Talk about a niche clientele. 7) The food. The Japanese food is the highlight here. The seafood hot amd sour was nice, but we had to guess what seafood was in it. It's not listed and they don't tell you. Just an FYI if you have a shellfish allergy. We didn't which was good as it had clam in it, we think. The sushi/sashimi was excellent. But the large platter was supposed to have tuna rolls on it, it had crab instead. The "French" menu doesn't feel French to me. I had the onion soup, which was French onion soup, and it was amazing. I also had the curry puffs which were amazing- that batter was so light and airy and tasty. Loved that but, it came with pickled cuckeumber and it was hard/confusing - hard to put on your puffs or was it meant to be eaten separately? I ordered the Hawaiian crispy scallops as a main. Nothing French about this dish: it was swimming in a super sweet duck/general tsos sauce. There were 6 scallops, and while cooked nicely and I loved the crispy coating, that sauce overwhelmed everything. That could have been chicken in there and you'd never know. After the second one I looked down and thought "Geez I have to eat four more of these?" Not a thought you want spending big bucks on dinner. 2 people plus tip came to over $175. Here's my summary: New restaurant, quality chef, menu needs to be a single theme, needs its liquor license, atmosphere needs improvement. It's clearly a new place trying to find its feet. I wouldn't recommend it until it does.

Yelp
The most amazing food ever!!!!!!!!! It's a secret so don't tell ------if you love French or Japanese then this is a MUST!!! Love love

Yelp
we had a reservation at 8:30 on valentine's day. after 20 minutes of being ready to order and never being checked on or asked if we wanted any appetizers we had to call over our server to order. we ordered and 40 minutes later we got told they were out of one of the rolls my boyfriend ordered. he looked to pick another roll and we asked how long the wait would be for our food and he said another 45 minutes minimum. so we packed up and left. went to another sushi place and ordered and got our food within 10 minutes. everyone was waiting for their food here and tables around us were all complaining.

Yelp
Megu is by far the freshest restaurant in DFW. Always amazing and delightful! Peter is one of the most talented Chefs ever! Megu is the hidden gem of FW. love this place!

Yelp
Hands down one of the best Japanese restaurants in the Fort Worth area. Incredible service and the food was out of this world, some of the best sushi I've ever had. Ambiance was great, owner took the time to converse with each of the customers. Incredible experience and would absolutely come back.

Yelp
Amazing food. Butternut squash soup was perfect Dumplings were the best. Wage steak melts in mouth. Bluefin tuna sushi is rare to find anywhere Easy parking Chef and staff super nice. Been there several times and always terrific.

Yelp
Megu is easily priced 2-5x more than it's worth and I would recommend avoiding it even if they slashed their prices by a factor of 5. We had the strangest dining experience here with honestly questionable food and service. The concept is interesting: Japanese AND French INDEPENDENTLY (NOT FUSION). I'm all for interesting concepts but the execution here is not good. You're given 2 VERY FULL menu books of both Japanese and French. In the same restaurant with just a couple tables seated you can order sashimi, sushi boats (tactlessly named aircraft carriers ?wut?), omakase, ramen, Japanese curries, udon, tempura, dumplings, french entrees (steak au poivre, duck, lamb), french onion soup, salads, an 8 course tasting menu, desserts, etc... Are you overwhelmed yet? The entire staff is just a few people and they claim to be prepared to serve all the above at $50+ entree level with fresh ingredients. I don't think that's possible and the quality of the food reflected that impossibility. We ordered off both the Japanese and French menu. The chef personally greeted us and claimed the fish was flown in fresh from Japan. Our salmon and yellowtail sashimi was served soaking in a puddle of soy sauce and was quite mushy (I assume old). The cut and presentation of the fish (see photos in other reviews) was lackluster for the given price point. As for the French food, we ordered lamb and a steak. We were not asked the desired temperature of a $45+ steak and were served a well-done steak of a cheap cut of meat drenched in a sauce that masked any potential flavor of the meat itself. The lamb was also overdone. The sides were bland (in other reviewers you'll notice the same steamed broccolini is nearly the only vegetable that ever appears on plates). We ordered a lava cake for dessert. The taste was alright with a nice dark chocolate, but honestly I'm pretty sure it was microwaved given the temperature distribution and texture (also there's no way the limited cooking staff was sufficient to be making desserts in house). I'm not going to hate on a reheated cake that tastes good, but the price at which it was being sold was off. The atmosphere is off. There's an odd smell, especially in the lobby. There were some flies in the room. The restaurant claims to serve upscale French food but neither the chef nor the waitstaff can even recognize French pronunciations of our order (as they're written in the menu). The chef kindly, personally greeted us when we sat down (a clear highlight of the other reviews), but honestly the vibes were off with the interaction. I'm not one to write reviews, but hope that this balances out some other opinions here and helps you make an informed decision about where to spend your (substantial) hard-earned money. The chef's previous restaurant is called Ginza in Weatherford Texas if you'd like to research other opinions (we found some of the low-star reviews on that restaurant a couple years ago to reflect our experience at Megu in 2024)

Yelp
Wow! Highly recommend! My husband and I are always trying new restaurants & we love lots of different types of cuisine. We have lived in Japan and traveled in France so we were pleased to find this lovely combination on the menu. Today we opted to share a sushi boat & it was fresh & delicious. We plan to return to try some of the items on the French menu. Service was excellent.

Yelp
Went here Saturday evening because my cousin just happened upon it and was intrigued. We went at 6:00 and were the only table in the place. We were greeted by the chef and our server. I wish I could remember her name and I feel bad - you were great! We ordered the curry puffs and duck bao buns. Both were great. I was especially impressed with the dough for the curry puffs. Perfectly cooked, crunchy and flaky. We also ordered a roll and I believe it was the Spring of Paris roll. We very much enjoyed it as well. My cousin got the Curry Udon with Katsu. It was really yummy. I tried a piece of the Katsu - perfectly breaded and fried. Absolutely not greasy and was seasoned well. I ordered the Duck Dan Dan noodles. Here's why I didn't give it 5 stars. I don't think what I received was Dan Dan noodles. I got a noodle bowl drowned in a very nearly tasteless broth. I've never had Dan Dan noodles that were served as a soup but I am willing to concede that maybe I am not aware there are different preparations of the noodle dish. I asked the server if they had chili oil I could add to the broth as it was very bland. Honestly, I just wanted her to bring me some to add myself but she said that she'd take it back and have it seasoned more, which was nice. When the bowl got back to me, the broth was now a lovely deep orange color and was seasoned very well. She also advised that the chef would like to offer us dessert which wasn't necessary but appreciated greatly. After our meal we dove into the mochi which is one of my favorite desserts. It was lovely. Bottom line, I want to go back. We didn't have any entree from the French menu so I'd like to try one of those dishes. I would love if this place took off given the fact they don't have much of a web presence and as of the last time I looked didn't have a social media page either. The restaurant is small and is on the bottom floor of an office building by the Kroger. Parking is ample and if you are using Google Maps to get there, it will take you to a parking lot that is behind (I think) Fuzzy's. You're in the right spot. Drive through that parking lot and you will almost immediately be in the parking lot of the restaurant. I bring this up because I got thrown off thinking I was in the wrong spot. I totally recommend going and am looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Chef!

Tyler G.

Yelp
The food was authentic and delicious. The service was exceptional. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
This is definitely an up and coming next big sushi spot. I highly recommend going if you love sushi and want to try new things. Chef has many amazing recommendations, definitely ask for his opinion. He will never turn you wrong!! Some of the best sushi in Fort Worth.

Yelp
Great sushi and noodles. The staff and owner was very helpful and attentive. Can't wait to go back to try the French cuisine.

Yelp
If you haven't been to Megu yet, you need to go. We had some items from both the French and Japanese menus. It was sublime. Don't pass on Megu. You will be happy.
