Meharry Medical College

Back in 2017 Mobile Crisis had me sent here. They gave me shots which made me go berserk and after telling them a cop watched me change, they strapped me to a table in a dirty holding cell. My family had no idea where I was. I almost died. After what seemed like days they finally took me to the Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute in handcuffs. This place is horrid. Do not go here unless you absolutely have NO choice, even then, reconsider.

I’m 15 and I was in a facility I went here 3 times and I needed a root canal/crown and I only got a filling and later had to get it pulled by another dentistry because it was not done right it was so painful.

DR REALLY WANTED TO REMOVE MY WISDOM TOOTH AND I WASNT EVEN THERE FOR THAT. THIS LADY CAME IN MY ROOM WANTING TO REMOVE MY WISDOM TOOTH AND I TOLD HER I WASNT THERE FOR THAT, SHE KEPT INSISTING AND I TOLD HER NO, THEN SHE APOLOGIZED, AND SAID SHE WAS RUSHING AND CONFUSED, I TOLD HER TO RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMET AMD SHE GOT MAD.

I called and there is no operator answering the phone and regardless what option I pick, the phone just goes blank! Huge waste of time!

Don’t know how to treat their clients! First level front desk are RUDE!! Mugging and taking back rudely! I went in as a walk in and they took me down for 2:3pm appointment, okay fine with that. Mind you I walked in at 11:45. I was just told that they would check my insurance and to sit down, I never was told if my appointment was confirmed. They had me sitting there for almost 30 minutes. I go and ask if my appointment was set, so I can go home and do my things. The lady said “if you leave now, you appointment won’t be set” I said “what do you mean, my appointment isn’t until 2:30pm” she checked my information and “okay you’re free to go but you won’t be able to get another parking ticket, so park somewhere in the street” I have two kids who will be seeing the doctor. How will I be parking in the street with Two babies under 3 years !!!

Called and was told to come in but when arrived they stated they aren’t taking any more patient.

My experience there was unspeakable. Thank you for saving my life.

Meharry Hospital is a nonprofit and a school as well that does innovation. Hospital violated my rights in so many ways they claim that I had a hold on me from a judge due to mental health issues for me to find out that’s not true along with that, they would give me medication, I had no idea of before I be evaluated which would cause me to be drifting in and out of consciousness. To later find out that I did not have a hold on me and I was basically just forced against my will. I recently asked for my records, the entire file everything that they have when it comes to me because they have been going on for years when I asked for my records and they submitted my information. There was nothing like I never was a patient. Can somebody explain it to me that place need to get itself together, you can’t be off the street and perform your schoolwork and think that it’s OK .

Very nice people accept one person but that's fine a lady made up for It named ms Vickey she was very sweet when my girlfriend had to pee she and a guy janitorial helped he informed her and she came to help

fly back form my sons failed kidney transplant to get to my appointment for wisdom teeth removal. call that morning to confirm and they have no appointment on record for me. and schedule me out for more than a month later. I've already paid ahead for the procedure so I'm stuck.

I have been to Meharry before maybe 2 years ago, and my experience was not well at all. Due to financial situation I have returned this past week. I was treated so professionally by a young lady name Karlita. She is the 2nd receptionist as you walk in. She was polite and respectful and went up and above with making sure I had a pleasant experience at Meharry. She did seem a little over worked. Sadly to say the girl to her right was chewing gum and on her phone while there was maybe a line of 2-3 people. I asked to speak to her manager but he was not in that day. I wanted him to be aware of my experience.

Horrible place from the moment I got to the 1st floor reception to the third floor check in . For some reason, the receptionist on the first floor hard time with me not sitting and kept telling me to sit like I was a friggin two year old I did not have any need to sit , No welcome just no personal interaction soulless people , on there phones every chance they can rather the be with a patient and care about what they are going through. One patient got there 8:30 in the morning in severe pain was there at 1 o'clock, and still have not been seen and they just ignored the patient. Final straw doctor was arrogant rude. I had been sitting in the chair for 45 minutes before the doctor walked in. No apology for being late and then started asked me why I was there. I was there for a consult you think the doctor would know that, but no, he said he was trying to have a conversation. Having a conversation requires two people interacting. I would start a conversation with items doctor blah blah and I am sorry for you having to wait in a chair uncomfortable chair at that for 45 minutes. cared more about his doctor title than inform being in formed about my health and I'm asking these people to put me under and don't feel very safe While I get my wisdom, teeth, polled and crown removed completely, don't look very competent. What happens if I have seizure or something titles, do not make you a good doctor. lastly, the third floor receptionist came out to call a patient while she was saying their name started stretching and yawning in front of me

The dental school. Omg. We made an appointment to go to the dentist. The prices are supposed to be a little bit better and you're supposed to get the same service you would add a normal dentist if not better. Disaster. Scary disaster 4 appointments. He kept making us come back and come back and come back All 4 teeth cleaning. Stay away

Jesus! They charge $70 for an exam, even i just had an exam at Aspen Dental for $19 BUT Aspen doesn't do root canals on the molar and private doctor charges twice as much or more the an RC and cap than Meharry. I brought my x-rays as they wouldn't accept them emailed by Aspen. I have a molar more than 75 broken with a mercury amalgam hanging out, they want me to come in for a cleaning like two weeks later and haven't set a date for the RC or crown. They did tell me it would be minimum several visits or more. Crown and cap and build-up cost about $1,200. Prophy cleaning costs about $40. My student dentist will be leaving at the end of June so a new person will be taking over then. I am scared after reading a lot of bad reviews online that they charge a lot more than quoted and the work is subpar. Thy don't answer most of their numbers but I finally found one number a human answers. The mailboxes are full on the other numbers but those numbers were given out on various websites online for them, they need to be updated. They do take CareCredit that credit loan for medical reasons. Most reviews on the are negative, especially for root canals, etc.

You take a chance by going to the dental school. My experience has been mixed. The students and receptionist in the residency program are very helpful. I had 6 teeth pulled and the cost was over $500! I think this is what it costs at an experienced dentist. I already tried a couple of these dentists with bad attitudes so I opted to try the students. I understand a root canal costs $1000. If u dont have dental insurance the cost is having to take out a loan. I have extensive work to be done yet and I don't want to change now mid stream. There are several comforting measures they could do better. Don't expect to get pain relief outside the initial work. I had pieces of a tooth in one place that I had to pull myself without pain med. Again students nice instructors uncaring. Enough said.

If you're thinking that you will get affordable quality dental care, do yourself a favor & look ELSEWHERE!!! I called early last week to get an appt for my 9 yr old daughter. I was wanting to get a second opinion on her cavity treatment. I was given yesterday's date 8/15/17 1pm. I took the day off from work, pulled my kid out of school and drove the 45 mins to make it to the appt. Paid parking, stood in line for a good 10 mins before reaching the receptionist window. I was told we did not have an appt. Yes we did I said, I actually called 3x Monday 8/14 left a couple of messages & my call back number to confirm but no one called back(should've given me clue how incompetent this office really is) but I was positive of the appt and informed her I spoke to a lady w/ broken English. She asked the receptionist beside her if she remembers talking to me & she said she did. Apparently the lady was looking us up in the wrong place, she finally found us. She tells us it's $100 upfront for Xrays, consultation & flouride. I told her we didnt need those, that we're there for a 2nd opinion we brought her Xrays & proposed treatment plan. Ok she said, I just need to pay in cash so that they can refund me in case the students were able to use the Xrays we brought. Fine. I already wasted gas, time, so let's add money to that too. I wrote her a check. However, Pediatric Dentistry was apparently closed yesterday. She curtly said, sorry she's new & after i explained to her how unprofessional that was, she offered to find me another appt. I have a high deductible insurance & was desperate to find a cheaper alternative treatment so I said fine. After yet another 10 mins, she still could not get us a date & blamed the 'system' it could all be user error for all I know. I told her to forget it I've wasted enough of my time. If anyone from MEHARRY's reading this PLS GET COMPETENT PEOPLE receptionist & office manager to run your front office. Anyone could tell from the unruly & disorganized papers that were everywhere that this office is totally inept! Our appt was 1pm, we were there 1250pm there was a long line, It was alreadyA 110pm when the lady finally found us on the 'system'. The WORST patient check in I've ever seen. Also for a school, you charge your patients exorbitantly, so much more than what a traditional Licensed dental office charge for a new patient. I hardly ever write reviews but I sincerely rue the day I heard of Meharry's & hope to spare anyone else into thinking that you might actually offer affordable quality service. Seriously, you'll just be wasting your time.
