Yelp
I only stumbled upon Mehri's because I was searching for the best cheesecake in Portland. Here in the 'Couve, I have yet to find The One (though my beloved Forevers Bakery is pretty damn close), but I knew the internet would have the answer. On Reddit, several people said Mehri's was the best, so I checked Postmates because god knows I'm not going over the bridge on a weekday afternoon. Postmates acted as if they'd never heard of Mehri's; it didn't even come up in my search!
UNTIL!
The next day, I opened Postmates again because I'm bored with life and food brings me joy. To my surprise, Mehri's was magically listed there! I hurriedly ordered a cheesecake, a brownie, and a few cookies, and tipped generously. I assumed a driver would decline my order because it's pretty far, but nearly an hour later MY ORDER ARRIVED!
I immediately dove into the first cookie: chocolate chip walnut! I love walnuts, and this cookie was perfection! Crisp-chewy exterior, delightfully buttery, and huge! This is exactly the cookie I wish Crumbl would make; homemade and fully baked; not wet and cake mix-y. The peanut butter cookie was similarly delicious, though pb isn't my favorite cookie because peanut butter gets kinda bitter when cooked (in my opinion).
The marionberry cheesecake had the perfect thick NY texture I like, rather than the wet/loose consistency indicative of no-bake cheesecakes or mass-produced desserts. This was absolutely freshly made and the perfect serving, lasting me the entire weekend.
I saved the caramel walnut brownie for last, and it was rich & fudgy, without being doughy or wet. I am not super into ooey-gooey cookies and brownies, so I loved that their desserts are texturally firm without being dry and tasteless!
I just ordered another cheesecake and brownie for this weekend, and grabbed a snickerdoodle and another cookie (oats, walnuts, and cranberries). Both are seriously some of the best cookies I've had in recent memory. They truly taste like a friend or grandma made them, today, without relying on a mix or cheaping out on the ingredients.
I can't wait to try their savory stuff!
