Best Chinese Restaurants in Thailand to Welcome the Year of the Pig

"Overlooking the lush gardens of The Peninsula Hotel on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, Mei Jiang - which means beautiful river - is an elegant Cantonese restaurant. Classic Chinese delights are prepared by an experienced chef from Hong Kong, and the staff are consummate professionals. Dim sum is a highlight and the "Health" set menu satisfies both the stomach and body and is a specialty of the chef." - Colin Ho

The sweet and sour pork was absolutely delicious and had an authentic flavour, perfectly balancing the tangy and savoury notes. The wonton noodle soup was also enjoyable, with the wontons being exceptionally soft and well-prepared. The service was generally friendly, but there were some missteps. The staff forgot our drinks order, and we had to remind them before it was finally served—right at the end of our meal. This was particularly inconvenient since the chili was quite spicy, and we had to rely on our own water in the meantime. On a positive note, they offered a complimentary starter, and at the end of the meal, they gave us two fresh oranges, which was a nice touch. However, due to the oversight in service and the late arrival of our drinks, we can only give this place four stars. With a little more attention to order accuracy, this restaurant could easily provide a flawless dining experience.

I have been here several times for Dim Sum and have never been disappointed. The service is attentive and also made a great recommendation to try the pork belly, which was fantastic. I can not understand, why this place is only rated at 4.2 because I would put it in front of many other places like Lao Teng, the Chinese restaurant in the 4 seasons, Shangri-La and many other Dim Sum places. We really enjoined this lunch again and will definaltely be back. With more than 5000B for three people it is more on the expensive end of things but still very delicious. I was however disappointed by the Truffle Dim Sum and egg tarts, so probably best to stick to the basics. Quality of everything was of course outstanding and my compliments to the Chef for the more than fantastic prok belly, the skin was just outstanding.

Looking for a place for late supper; and craving for Chinese food. Mei Jiang is nested in the Peninsula Bangkok hotel; and beautifully decorated. Fortunately, it's still within the last order hour, and the host gracefully accepted a walk-in. Service is warm but seems distracted, as I was asked if I needed water for 3 times by different staffs, despite already placing an order for it. That aside, service is attentive. Food wise, the tasting menu is quite a good option if you would like to try different dishes. Otherwise, the ala cart options are great too. Food service can be quite slow as experienced by other diners from the reviews. Taste wise, ok, not exceptionally wow'ed. Favorite dish of the evening, Bird's Nest with Chicken Soup.

We went to this restaurant during Chinese new year. Almost full. The food was delicious and environment atmosphere is good. However, I found the service could be better ( 5 stars hotel ). Overall is okay

Modern with find dinner style service Chinese restaurant. This restaurant is hands-down one of the best modern Chinese restaurants in Bangkok. The staffs are extremely polite, helpful and patient with us. They help us from ordering and help us design on dishes to order for variety. We ordered four dishes to share. Some of the dishes took 30mins waiting time, but the restaurant bought us several complimentary tasting dishes so we weren't too hungry. Once our dishes were served, it was all worth the wait. Every single dish was extremely tasty, aromatic and nicely decorated. We could really tell that the kitchen staffs has put in lots of preparation for the meal. We will return again for sure to taste their other dishes on the menu.

Great Cantonese Chinese restaurant with excellent service in Peninsula hotel!! Contemporary XO sauce is superb. All of dim sum are good. Price is quite a bit high but is reasonable for this type of restaurant.

I would not recommend at all. Slow service and food weren’t as tasty as before COVID time. Price was also pretty high, you can guess as it’s located in the hotel, but with high price I expect something more reliable in the taste.

Located in The Peninsula Bangkok hotel. One of the best Chinese restaurants in Bangkok. Had wagyu beef cube with black pepper sauce, fried rice, stir fried prawns (huge! ) with port wine in clay pot, mango cream with sago, almond cream with egg white (hot dessert). Service is warm and attentive. To avoid heavy traffic jam in front of the hotel, peninsula provides a shuttle boat from BTS station Saphan Taksin pier to hotel for free.
