"One floor below the Reitbauer family's fine dining restaurant, you’ll find another upmarket eatery. In addition to around 150 wonderfully matured cheeses, it boasts delicious classics, such as Wiener schnitzel made with suckling calf and, of course,Kaiserschmarrn(shredded pancake). Alternatively, there is fried carp or goat kid. The dinner and lunch menus differ slightly. You can also enjoy breakfast here. The view of the River Wien and Stadtpark is fantastic, making the terrace hot property in summer." - Michelin Inspector

I've never been to a place quite like this one. This is fine dining. And I was so excited that they offered a 6 and 7 course all vegetarian menu. And not a single miss of all 7 courses! Typically the vegetarian menu is just bland and it's just the dish without meat. But not here. It was thoughtfully crafted meals with a respect for the fruits and vegetables prepared for the vegetarian eater. I was very impressed. Sadly you pay the same price, but I was not bothered, as each meal was perfect. And I did not leave hungry! The staff was incredibly attentive during our entire 3 hour dining experience. And it didn't even feel like 3 hours! The courses were perfectly timed and we never felt as if we waited in between. This is our second time at this restaurant, and it will not be the last. Thank you!

I ordered a 7-course from the menu. We ended up with 9 courses (one opening complementary appetizer and one closing complementary desert). The food is good, but I was not amazed. This was my first 3-star Michelin, and so I had high expectations, but the food was underwhelming for a 3-star restaurant.

Had the fall menu at Steirereck and it was incredible from start to finish! 🍂 Everything felt super seasonal and creative, but the duck was the absolute highlight — perfectly cooked, tender, and packed with flavor. Service was friendly and professional without feeling too formal. If you’re in Vienna and want something really special, this place is a must!

Google
A culinary experience of a lifetime. One of the top rated restaurants in the World and they deserve it. Nestled in the middle of a park you wouldn’t think much of it but you walk in and it’s beautiful. The wait staff and servers were friendly and attentive throughout. They have tasting menu that was carefully planned out, with unique flavor combinations and masterful cooking technique. Every item we tried was good and kept us asking for more. Definitely worth trying while in Vienna.

A failure in professionalism, not what you expect from a 3 Michelin star restaurant As frequent Michelin star restaurant diners who plan trips around renowned restaurants, my husband and I were eagerly anticipating our lunch at Steirereck on September 22, 2025. One doesn't go to a 3-star establishment just to eat; one goes for a flawless, delightful culinary experience that stands well above average. Unfortunately, our visit was a masterclass in how not to handle guests when things go wrong. The issues began with a serious hygiene lapse. After our first course, a dark, curly hair was sitting wrapped around my newly placed silverware. The server didn't even notice the hair, and she placed it there herself!!!! When we pointed it out to her, the apology was scarce and perfunctory. We are human, and we understand hiccups happen, so we decided not to make a fuss. What defines a top-tier restaurant, however, is its reaction. Here, there was no manager rushing over — just a quiet replacement of the utensils as if nothing had happened. We decided not to let it spoil the experience, even deleted the picture I took. The second failure was environmental. Sitting by the window on a +27°C day, we were baking in the sun. It was September, so the management went through the summer with this, and we were probably not the first who complained. The sun was blazing in, and while a curtain was shading another table, we were left in the heat. We asked for more shade, and while solar blinds were lowered, they did little to help. My husband was genuinely suffering. We asked for the manager, but only the floor supervisor came. We explained the problem, and then... nothing happened for 10-15 minutes. By the time our main course was being served, we were still waiting for a solution. In a truly awkward moment, my husband had to ask them to physically shift our table into a sliver of shade, which they did while our main dishes were on it. It was absurd. The mood was completely spoiled. We decided to just push through and not let it ruin our vacation. The true lack of professionalism was revealed at the end. To add insult to injury, when we were leaving, we saw two perfectly unoccupied tables in a cooler, shaded section. I asked the floor supervisor about this, she claimed they had planned to move us after our main course. This excuse made no sense—why not move us and then serve the mains? When I recounted the hair incident to the supervisor, her "sorry" was utterly insincere, as if it was something regular and we were just picky. Shocking!!!!! It's crucial to understand: this was a demonstration of the absolute lack of proper training and reaction. Hiccups are inevitable; a poorly trained staff that cannot manage them is not. And for the record, the bill and service charge were processed very smoothly—no complaints there. The food was good (not excellent) and beewax as cooking agent was very interesting, but at this level, "good" isn't enough to justify the prestige and the highest level of the industry. Also I have to be fair and mention fine linens and silverware, they were noticed. The one standout was the wonderful man serving the bread cart—he and the bread selection delivered a glowing positive experience. Verdict: Based on the combination of a hygiene lapse and a complete failure in service problem-solving, this is simply not a 3 Michelin star establishment. The lack of urgency, empathy, and a genuine apology was staggering. We expected an unforgettable meal, but for all the wrong reasons, that's exactly what we got. This was a sharp contrast to our very recent visits to 2 Michelin star restaurants in Dublin and Mexico city.

Google
A truly exceptional experience — the three Michelin stars are absolutely well deserved. Steirereck is easily one of the best restaurants I’ve ever tried and certainly among the top in Vienna. I had the tasting menu, and every dish showcased extraordinary creativity and perfectly balanced flavors. One of my favorite moments, although not the most “fancy,” was the incredible cheese platter — presented from a small kiosk on wheels, where a knowledgeable staff member helps you select from some of the best cheeses in the world. Outstanding service, exquisite food, and a memorable dining experience from start to finish.

Google
Our evening at Steirereck kicked off strong with an impressively professional welcome from the well-coordinated wait staff. However, our high hopes were quickly cooled down by the strange lack of air conditioning in the dining room, and the long series of underseasoned dishes featuring intellectually interesting but mismatched ingredients. I was particularly shocked by how their signature dish (arctic char cooked in beeswax) managed to render arctic char, a naturally fatty and flavourful fish, completely tasteless. The one outstanding course was the bitterorange with comb honey palate cleanser : spectacularly delicious! Hoping this signaled a turn for the better, we were let down yet again. For over 50 minutes, we were left unattended as we patiently waited for our dessert. We only realized we had been completely forgotten when tables seated long after us began receiving their desserts before we did. We had to physically leave our table to find a waiter and request our final course, which then arrived a mere two minutes later. Mistakes happen, but what was most disappointing was the complete lack of apology or even acknowledgement of their error. Instead, they were quick to silently present the bill, with a mandatory 20% service fee, before disappearing for the rest of the night.

Google
Very good overall. We had the 6 course tasting menu and the highlight was the bread trolley (esp blood sausage bread), eel and piglet tail dishes. My only complain was that main course which was the quail - exceptionally over salted. In addition, we didn’t really enjoy the wine pairing with the food as well.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience. Came here in for lunch over the holidays and decided to start with a cheese course followed by the soups and split an entree. To start off sitting in the park facing the river Ade for a great ambiance for the meal. Our server was very knowledgeable and the staff selected an amazing cheese platter. We had the champagne and rose, both complementing the entire meal. The soups were both rich and classic. Our fish entree was quite good, and the desserts were both fantastic. Stayed nearly 3 hours all-in-all. Definitely an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.

Yelp
From the family behind 2* Steirereck im Stadtpark Meierei is the more casual offshoot with waterside views, great service and classic recipes created with top-quality Ingredients by the skilled hands of Chef Heinz Reitbauer and staff. Open at 08h00 on weekdays and an hour later Saturday with three services daily, the menu shifting seasonally, guests entering Meierei will find a similar color palate to the gourmet Restaurant upstairs while a terrace facing Stadtpark illuminates the room through floor-to-ceiling glass. Alongside the Wienfluss with over 100 matured Cheeses and a bountiful larder, plus Bread from the Steirereck Bakery, lunch for most will occur in three courses, an Appetizer of Beef Consommé nearly so complex as Reitbauer's previously tasted Wedding Soup while "Fish Sticks" of Trout are crunchy and delicious alone or dragged through creamy Currants. Overly-generous with portions despite a Bib Gourmand pricepoint, the tally for two under €100 without Alcohol, Entrees include a tender Pork Chop grilled beneath Hummus and fried bits while traditional Veal Beuscherl picks up lots of flavor from Offal that is mellowed by Marjoram and hearty Dumplings. Encourage to order Streudel fresh from the oven at 13h00, but wise enough to request Kaiserschmarrn as Pork and Veal were served, choosing the better of Meierei's Desserts comes down to personal preference, though the respective toppings of Housemade Vanilla Curd and Plum Jam should be added liberally.

Yelp
Nice atmophere, adequate food, TERRIBLE service. Somehow gave two different breads with meat in them to my cleary communicated vegetarian spouse. Did not take my order, just walked away while leaving me with a menu, then assumed that I wanted the same thing as my spouse while never asking. Seriously, just walked away while I was ordering. Also got drink order wrong. Waited for many courses, including a completely melted dessert. Had to ask for the check three times, and the waiter in the middle of the evening actually glared at me. Wines were good, hence two stars instead of one. Much too expensive, go elsewhere.

Yelp
Came here for a Sunday evening dinner. We got the beef goulash soup, and the wiener schnitzel. The beef was a little tough and the wiener schnitzel didn't have much taste. Was expecting more from the taste of the food. The one standout was the six different types of ice cream which came on a cold plate.

Yelp
I had a lovely breakfast here and everything here is nicely prepared. A bit pricey but the ambience by the park makes it worth it.

Yelp
Good service and well prepared dishes to excite you in a nice, relaxed setting. We had the Steirereck and Meierei Breakfast, which came with a broad arrangement of dishes. What stood out were the poached egg, and the leek pancake of the Steirereck Breakfast. The fish tartare/ fruit combination was as well an eye opener, as I had not expected the flavors to come together as well as they did. All in all it was a pleasantly memorable brunch!

Yelp
My favorite place in Vienna for breakfast, more than 100 kind of cheese, the food is always fresh and delicious, I recommend the egg with pumpkin seed oil very beautiful place, you sit in d middle of the nature, good service I like the home made semmel. I gave 4 stars just because I don't like the menu of the lunch

Yelp
Read so much about this place that their food are great and delicious, but was absolutely disappointed with the quality of food. We waited for nearly an hour for our main course and they end up being mediocre. For the price, I would expect food of great quality and food that is out of the ordinary. We will never return to this restaurant again the next time we return to Wien.

Yelp
I remember coming here a few years ago and having the absolute best schnitzel in town. Unfortunately this was not the case this time around. My family and I came here for lunch on a Saturday and they were able to offer us a table on the balcony, which I recommend getting if weather permits. I had the beef tartare for starter, which was rather bland but acceptable. The schnitzel however was not. The meat was too thick and the breading was not puffy enough. Worst of all, there was some water on the plate, resulting in a soggy schnitzel. The rest of my family was also underwhelmed by their dishes. The atmosphere is really quite pleasant, especially if the weather is nice and you get to sit on the balcony. There are only a handful of places in Vienna where you dine in the middle of a park. Sadly the quality of food here is not what it use to be. I had one of the worst schnitzels here and that is just not acceptable for a restaurant associated with the Steirereck name.

Yelp
This place was fantastic: the white wine, the hare, pumpkin soup and the veal-all excellent and very nicely presented. The waiter was friendly and attentive and the restaurant had a nice homely feel. The only thing that was bad was the strong smell of cheese as they had a cabinet of cheese at the entrance when you walk in. Other than that top notch!

Yelp
Very nice location and posh athmosphere. One of the nice places in Vienna for breakfast with broad selection of combo platters. I didn't think it was very expensive for breakfast, except for the small glass of orange juice which was 5 euros.

Yelp
SUPER POSH is the best way to describe this place. I felt under dressed as soon as i walked into this place. I a, told they have the best cheese selection in Vienna, however i did not try them as it is a super expensive place to eat. For a coffee it is ok the price is normal, but make sure you have lots of money if you want to eat. HOWEVER i did see what they severed and it does look 5 star food, and the couple seated next to us gave the food a high commendation. Therefore it should be in your list of pleasurable experiences when you can afford it, but i am just a simple boy with a small budget. The BEST thing about this place is the view, as it is in Stadtpark and you can see into the park while there. very nice indeed. My Personal points system out of 10, standard for Vienna is 5. Location: 8 Atmosphere: 8 Decor: 7 Size: 4 Non Smoking Area: yes Coffee temperature(*2): 5 Coffee taste: 5 Service(*1): 5 *1=(Standard in Vienna is 5 on my scale) this is based on that you get serviced fast but you have to work hard to pay at the end) *2=(Standard in Vienna is 5 on my scale) I always have a Caffè latte as my control coffee. My coffee partner always has a Mélange.

Yelp
Simply.... WOW! My wife found this restaurant in the NY Times, if I remember correctly. She checked on dinner and lunch reservations but they're booked until at least July. So, we decided to try it for breakfast. We were incredibly surprised, in a good way. The service was fantastic, the food was pretty unbelievable. If/when we ever make it back to Vienna, we'll be stopping here again.

Yelp
great aesthetics and relaxing location in the park. Try the tradituonal kaiserschmarr !

Yelp
Fantastic dining experience, as I would expect given the "big sister" upstairs. Incredible service. Incredible deep, nuanced flavors. Incredible ambience and food presentation. I tried the appetizer sampler (beetroot pockets, grilled sturgeon, pork), veal beuscherl, goulash, and 3 desserts (apple strudel, cheese strudel, and kaiserschmarrn). Desserts were good (not memorable) but the savory dishes were all truly fantastic, memorable.

Yelp
Popped here for brunch on Saturday. No space at the tables but the very friendly maître d' explained that I could perch on the bar and order. Had an excellent apple and basil juice with an ok latte to drink, with the Meierei breakfast, which was excellent (if a little too much). I'm not a big omelette man but the omelette tart was divine, salmon good and yoghurt with granola excellent. The cake wasn't to my taste but the cheese more than made up for it.

Yelp
The Meierei is the bistro type restaurant from Steirereck. With Steirereck being the best restaurant in Austria expectations on Meierei are high. The menu offers some Austrian staples like Gulasch, Wiener Schnitzel or Beuschel but the true highlight is the cheese selection. You can get cheese boards that will blow your mind. We went for a small Gulasch and Beuschel followed by a cheese board for 2. Everything was just great, and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality that is offered. Already looking forward to my next visit.

Yelp
We went here for dinner one night, when Steirereck was too busy. This place is super cool, the quality of the food is really good and the service was also top notch! I feel that this place really represents Austrian food in a nice way, and the Austrian wine list is also something we have become fond of. I really recommend the free-range goose, it was amazingly tender. And of course, as you understand when you walk in the restaurant, you have to top it all of with a selection of cheeses. We will be back!

Carol K.

Yelp
We plowed through a blizzard to walk to Meierei, and we're so happy we did. The cheese plate was delectable, and the grilled fish was very nicely prepared. The one drawback is that the service was quite slow (but I'm from NYC, so the standards may be different)...otherwise a great meal!

Yelp
What a great place to start a cross Atlantic flight with lost luggage at this place Viennese Brunch was a good call. Great coffee and drinks menu.
