Wow. Never have I been in a Meijer store that was so entirely filthy, and just plain GHETTO. During the week when businesses are running, all is well, but try a Friday night, when you have to run out for toilet paper and it's literally like a post-apocalyptic war zone.
My niece, her fiance and my goddaughter are in town tonight and we decided to make a Meijer run before we go to the zoo tomorrow. Granted, it was about midnight. A few essentials and we're out...but as we passed through the doors and into the produce section, we were stunned into silence. The produce stalls were all half empty, there were gigantic black skids in every aisle as though someone had drizzled something sticky on the floor and then had shopping cart races through it.
Every aisle was full of stock that needed to be unpacked and shelved and I think I saw maybe one stock person in the whole store.
As we approached the checkout lanes, we noticed some paper towel on the floor covering something. As we got closer, we saw that it was a broken jar of jam all over the floor. Glass was everywhere and so was the jam. Someone casually covered it with a paper towel and left it. The entire time we were up front waiting to check out, which was about ten to fifteen minutes, no one paged for a clean-up, no one who worked there looked at it or even seemed to think twice about it being there. We had to warn my goddaughter, who is three, to stay away from it, and a lady accidentally walked through part of it as she was looking for a checkout lane.
Not a single employee in the place appeared to give a shit about service, cleanliness, um, doing their job...
The parking lot was full of liter...filthy.
The store was trashed, a veritable wasteland...filthy.
The clientele behaving, for the most part like that was the norm.
I live less than a mile from the Taylor WalMart. I generally choose Meijer over WalMart for obvious reasons, but the sad fact is, on ANY GIVEN DAY that WalMart is a thousand steps up from what I saw at the Allen Park Meijer tonight.
MPerks or no, I am not going back there. I felt like I needed a bath with a wire brush when I left. Disgusting.
