Google
Okay level store. The crew needs more training. Whatever you ask them the answer is always NO. But it has lot of items, and the inventory is high for the store. Cake and pastries section is even more terrible as the service crew is not available Most of time., even if they are available they are not at all cooperative. Can shop for groceries. Price point is always high compared to the other stores.

Honestly, the negative reviews you will find for this location are either geriatrics (no shame) or possibly people with mental illness. This is a superstore, it has everything. The staff are great, and they deal with a lot of people of varying degrees. I have been going here for probably 15+ years. It is a good store and well run. Do you need a thing? They probably have it. My only complaint is they put seasonal stuff in the very back corner when I need it; guys, put snow salt closer to the entrance when it snows and do that all of winter, other then that, it is a wonderful store.

Google
Read prices very very carefully. Note the price per ounce and per package. Very tricky. Also the 40 count came up as $9.19 at the cash register. Be sure to catch that price error.

Google
155pm, 2 lines open and 10 ppl with stacked carts. Effin ridiculous. After I get through this line the store manager is going to here from me. I will update with store manager info.

Google
Not worth going to. They don't keep a lot of things in stock, they never seem to have any staff, its generally inconvenient and the management doesn't care. The meijer experience is getting there, finding out they don't have half the stuff you came for and realizing you've wasted 30 minutes.

Google
I love this Meijer location off of Coolidge Hwy in Royal Oak. It is always very well kept, clean, organized and week stocked. Employees are mostly very nice and personable. William the door greeter is like an old friend to everyone. Helps to have that experience when shopping. Managers are also very nice. If you have a problem, they do everything that they can to solve it. Produce is very fresh. They sell a lot of local items from Blake's apple cider to Bees in the D honey. It has a more than a few self checkout lanes and a good pharmacy. All in all, it is an excellent store in an excellent location. The gas station is a plus.

Google
Long quick lines... emphasis on quick! Great sales and reasonably priced non-sale items! Friendly and helpful staff. Super stocked with fresh items i need daily!

Google
The self checkout has far more registers open than either Kroger or Walmart, minimizing wait time. The price scanners actually work. However, parking can be difficult and the restrooms tend to be dirty.

Yelp
I thought about it and I realized that I've been going to the Smyer for something like 30 years or so. Back when I was younger I had some problems with people. The photographer guy made me wait to get my photos when it says self-serve. But management was really good. I complained and they got back to me and I took care of it. And so I've been shopping here off and on ever since. And other than that the occurrence of something like 28 years ago I really enjoyed shopping at this location. They've got everything I'm looking for and a lot of good sales all the time.

Steven E.

Yelp
What the hell happened? This place is filthy. I'm not looking for a palace to shop at, but it used to be so well kept and clean. It literally looks like they've just stopped sweeping and mopping. Especially in the corners and the walls. Second. There are no shopping carts. None. When I left I saw a dozen in the back forty. I guess if you want the convenience of a shopping cart, you walk back past your car and bring one in. Next, watch your dates. I picked up seven different products, including bread and milk, that were expired. Is it time to close up and start all over as something else? I believe we know what that means. Lastly, I'd like to comment on the staff. Problem is I never dealt with any. Pretty sure I saw a couple, but, I was totally self sufficient in this store. Inexcusable. We are through here. 01/23

Yelp
Pretty standard Meijer. I just did some grocery shopping here last night and got in and out of there just fine. It wasn't too crowded for 9 pm two nights before Thanksgiving. I just don't like this location though. Coolidge makes too many weird zags at major intersections and this stretch seems like a weird little hideaway, even if there's a gigantic strip mall across the street and just down the way. A secret Meijer seems absurd but that's how this one feels to me which you might think I'd like but for some reason I don't. And it makes me irrationally upset this Meijer faces sideways instead of facing out to the street. I even went so far as to give it a good look on Google Maps. I mean, I get it. They got a small airport and a block of development on one side and a DTE substation on the other so this lot is what they had to work with but it just bugs me. It's bad feng shui or something, beyond big box stores being bad feng shui in general. I also just discovered the tree line in back which of course is behind the side of the store is a little park with a nature trail that has no Yelp listing. So this Meijer review might be nothing special but looks like I can rack up another First to Review once I list that park and rate it.

Lailah B.

Yelp
Great place to shop, I'm glad they added More u-scans so the lines won't be so long, I feel sorry there is less cashiers than used to be But I like do it yourself for me because people don't have enough patience anymore in this world. I miss when it was 24 hours, 12 midnight is pretty decent , considering most places close earlier than that.

Sam K.

Yelp
Stopped at Mjeir gas station for lottery tickets. I'm waiting for 10 minutes because she was training an employee. I said I was in a hurry and could she handle this herself. She said she was doing her job.Extremely rude. I will never gi back there!!

Jozef R.

Yelp
It's your basic meijer. No complaints. Things are clean and the staff are friendly. I'm very shocked by the unjustified negative reviews.

Nicole E.

Yelp
I get why folks do their grocery shopping on Tuesdays. There were no mad lines at the registers nor hoards of people all over the produce aisles and battling carts down the main aisles either. The vibe and energy is much more calm today, it's tolerable and not depleting or deflating as it on the weekends. However the produce and stock was low and hadn't been replenished from the weekend or holiday last Thursday yet. We were checked out at a checkout 15 with Cheryl. The bathroom needs some attention, looks like a bomb went off in there and I felt like I needed a shower after being in there for a bit.

Leslie K.

Yelp
Very disappointed I went today which is the second day of the new week's sale and they were completely out of 2 items. Bad planning on management sode

David W.

Yelp
This is my favorite Meijer location. The checkout people are amazing. Everything is clean, everything is in stock, and it's a well-run store.

Fred V.

Yelp
So the hubby says We haven't been in this store for a couple years, let's give it a go. The greeter A+. The carts had to pull out 5 carts before we found one that didn't have trash in it. The bread aisle A+. Milk aisle C-, slim pickings on the shelf and all near expiration. There was a cart behind the refrigerators full of milk ready to stock, but no one stocking and not an employee to be found. The canned vegetables D - literally every French Cut green bean can was mangled to the point you would be afraid to consume the contents - yet they were all lined up in pretty little rows so you know some employee knowingly stocked them on the shelves. The fresh vegetables D. there were packages of mini cucumbers blooming with white mold. The checkouts, not a single non-self checkout open. There was a Meijer employee all decked out in blue Meijer shirt and badge obnoxiously talking on her cell phone in the self checkout line area about her baby daddy drama. She did take a brief break to make some nasty comments to a senior citizen who was trying to locate a free register and roll her eyes while commenting she had to deal with a dumb B. The self checkout D-, they must have implemented some software that trys to ascertain if someone is stealing. About every 5th item it would claim it needed assistance and the employee had to come over and review footage roll her eyes and tap a few keys. Excelling at multi-tasking the employee was able to continue her baby daddy conversation throughout our checkout experience. So done with Meijers.

Marcos G.

Yelp
Is just unbelievable, a grocery store selling food, fruits and vegetables... and many employees without masks without gloves like nothing is happened. The worst part was when I call the manager to ask him about that, he told me: " it's not required by law" and I replied it's a common sense to help the community. Then he told me to leave the store because I was causing commotion. Do you believe that? All this pandemic situation and they don't care about people's lives. 00000 stars for Meijer Royal Oak.

Candice K.

Yelp
Haven't been to a Meijers in awhile since I live on the West Coast. I visited this Meijer location twice on my trip to Michigan and I can't complain. They had everything I was looking for and more. Everything was stocked well and I appreciated their variety of brands. I was mostly surprised by their alcohol selection. It was larger than I remember and they had plenty of craft beer from local breweries. I love supporting local, so I grabbed a few to try and they were all great! They had everything I needed and the lines to check out were fairly short and moved quickly. They also have a huge parking lot with lots of spaces.

Sandie Y.

Yelp
The store has gotten better over the last few years. It seems cleaner (no trash cans overflowing), there are actual cashiers so you don't need to self checkout , and items are in stock.

Ruth S.

Yelp
I've been blatantly lied to by the pharmacy staff and the pharmacist! The app they have is terrible! They have filled prescriptions without telling me they're filled. Just recently, my Dr.called one in, and I wasn't notified in any way. I waited anxiously for 2 days. I finally called them-which I hate doing, due to rude staff and long wait times on hold. I was able to speak with someone. I asked when my prescription would be available. They told me it was coming that day in their order-after 2:00. Then, within the next hour, I got a text message saying it was ready!! How does this make sense? When I got it, the date of filling was THE DAY BEFORE! I was quite sick and could've started the medication sooner. Apparently, they just ignore things and the patient in need, when it's convenient to do so, very frustrating system and pharmacy staff. The lying is the worst issue. I need a pharmacist and pharmacy staff that is trustworthy. They were a year ago, when I transferred ALL my medication there. Not now, it's, insane. Really, lousy people seem to have replaced those that were there last year!!

Darryl J.

Yelp
I love the look and feel if this store and even in holidays, there's never really a long line at check out. My one complaint is that they NEVER HAVE ANYTHING IN STOCK!! It's like they order enough for Friday and Saturday then say F-it to the rest of the week. That's not cool. How are you out of tomatoes on Tuesday, no bacon, fresh out of Marie calendar pot pies. And let's not even get started on items from the weekly ad. The ad night as well be a list of what NOT to order, cause you won't be getting a great deal of what's in there. It'll be out of stock. It feels like we're on lockdown again scavenging for food and supplies. I'll have to try another location

Barbara O.

Yelp
Wish I could give them zero stars. Went to the deli counter today and was totally ignored by the two ladies behind the counter. One even looked at me twice and didn't say a thing. Stood there for five minutes until I got mad and left. I can understand if you're busy, but to not even acknowledge your customers is just bad service.

Michaela B.

Yelp
I ordered $200 worth of groceries, got charged for said groceries, and then DID NOT RECEIVE ANYTHING. Now I'm waiting 3-5 days for a refund to hit my card. So now, I have no money AND no groceries. Thanks Meijer! My dogs and I are hungry and SOL because of you.

Colin K.

Yelp
Note the other enraged reviews. I thought Tel Twelve was the worst customer service ever. This makes it a tie. Who manages these stores? Who trains these people? Horrible, they do their best to let you know they could care less, they're just punching a clock. Actually laughed about pudding me off. Perks program is a joke, have to jump through hoops with an app to get a couple bucks. I'm done.... I could swear they used to be decent. This is now just inexcusably awful.

Gary B.

Yelp
A large footprint grocery and soft goods store, with a small outdoor and automotive/home area, and a large cooking and home furnishings area. For some reason the bottle and can return are in the very back of the grocery area, requiring dirty cans and bottles go all the way down the center aisle of the grocery area. A large produce area area With pretty good quality items, and a large beer wine and liquor area. For some reason, the fresh meat counter is not as large as other locations. The layout of the grocery area is a bit unusual, not intuitive at all. As is the new standard, dairy is in the very back of the store.

Mel C.

Yelp
The only lanes open were self check out, Im old with back problems I would welcome the help. All out of sales items (in middle of sale) went to get a rain check customer service told me they do not do rain checks anymore after covid.

Kathryn S.

Yelp
I accidentally left wine and beer in the cart. When I got home, I was so sad I had left them, it was worth about 50 dollars in alcohol. I worked with the store management & customer service team to find a resolution. Even though the items had left the store (and were alcohol, which complicated it even more) they sent a gift card to replace a portion the cost of the items. Everyone was very helpful and pleasant to work with. They didn't have to replace anything but were very understanding and helped find a resolution! In the end, I'm very pleased with how everything went, thanks guys!! Will continue shopping here :)

Karen W.

Yelp
You'd think its a Meijer, what else is there to say...but honestly there's plenty to say. I shop here frequently because it's close to my house and I like the MPerks deals they offer. However, this store has some obvious flaws. 90% of the time I shop here if it is after 12pm, the lines are very long and they don't have enough employees. I try to come early in the morning on a Friday when it's quite and not busy but the down side to that is they never had rotisserie chickens in the early morning and I usually buy one of those. Today I stopped in around 6:30pm, grabbed a few items and headed to the checkout. Holy madness! There were 5 lines open plus self checkout (which I prefer) but every single line had at least 6-8 people in them. Someone who appeared to be a supervisor or manager stood in the front area yelling at an employee to give a cashier a break but clearly he needed to open another lane. I stood in line 30+ mins to check out! There is also a very funky smell by the returnables area. Most stores stick their returnables section in either the front entrance area of the way back. Someone thought it was a good idea to stick it in the middle of the store next to dairy, a super busy area! The smell is so disgusting sometimes I want to puke! Maybe they don't realize that it's probably deterring people from buying their dairy! However, it's not all bad. They have a decent produce section and plenty of dry grocery. In general I try to buy my meat and produce at farmers markets but when in a pinch, they usually have a decent selection.

Kimberley S.

Yelp
Why do I come here? Nothing is ever in stock! The isles are always empty! Come Meijer DO BETTER! If they are busy, they should have more stock workers and cashiers, but it seems they are stingy in workers! Shame!

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Does Meijer own carts? Been to this Meijer 2x in 2 days and never did find a cart in the store. The chair I bought unravelled the day I bought it. They told me to go to customer service for a gift receipt because they can't be printed at the registers. The lines are all long, the service is surly and the other patrons are overly rude. And the prices aren't cheap. The blackberries had no flavor. The return process is cumbersome. They allowed another patron to try to cut and then argued with me on who was first. No thanks.

Chad C.

Yelp
I have to say I am not a big fan of Meijer. I stopped in here the other day because I needed to get some bottled water and a few items. I ended up leaving the store and going to Kroger. For some reason, Meijers has decided to do away with Shopping carts. Third time coming, and there were no carts. I do want to shop here, but when I come, I need a cart.

Liz P.

Yelp
Throwing in an extra star for this Meijer. It's the one I usually shop at, and I've had both bad (see my last review, lol) and good experiences. Usually it's decent. Went here yesterday and was ID's for buying cough syrup, which was kind of amusing (but mostly just annoying - I'm 28 and you have to be 18 to buy it, apparently). I don't think this Meijer is dirty at all, re: previous reviews, and it's also a mix of ages, not just 70+. I can usually find what I need and am in and out quickly. Only complaint is that the parking lot is always crazy crowded but that's probably because most of the Troy/RO people shop at this Meijer.

Libby F.

Yelp
*Clicking heels* There's no place like Meijer. There's no place like Meijer. There's no place like Meijer. If I were to describe Meijer to my friends back in DC. I wouldn't know what to compare it to. It's so much more than a Walmart (although I've only been in a Walmart once in Hawaii). They have groceries. They have clothing and home goods. There is a garden center. There is a shoe repair. U.S. Post Office? Yes. Pharmacy? Ditto. Starbucks? Uh-huh. A gas station with cheaper prices? YES!! The best thing... booze! We can't get that in a Walmart back in good 'ol Maryland! My mom complains a lot about how the scanners at the register always make mistakes. " You have to always check your receipt before you leave," she always says to me. I did find a huge mistakes when I bought bulk nuts. I didn't check my receipt before I left (Don't tell my mom!). I took them back two days later and said they scanned at a heavier weight and that this said bag was not 1.4 pounds. She believed me and reweighed them and gave me back $4-something! For all she knew I could have eaten half the bag!! I always have to make at least one trip to Meijer when I come to visit. I've been three times already and I've been here just over a week. Yay Meijer! You're as good as it gets!

Holly S.

Yelp
Shopped here- well attempted to shop here on 1/3/14 and this place was completely empty! I mean absolutely no produce, milk, or breads left on the shelves! ( I posted photos) I usually frequent this location as it's close to home and work and I've never seen it like this before. Is this place going out of business and I missed the memo? I asked one of the workers why they were low on items and he was pretty rude and replied that they "were still waiting on the truck". Kinda bizarre to not have a fully stocked store if you're open 24/7.

David M.

Yelp
This Meijer location is not along any of my usual driving routes so I don't shop here too often. But I have been in a few times and when I do, I find the same selections and decent quality produce as at my regular stores. In my experience here, as with other Meijer locations, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable as well as professional whenever I ask for help in finding something I'm looking for. At least for me, Meijer has been consistently dependable from one location to another. I have not found a Meijer location that I have shopped at that I would not return to other than location and distance from my home and normal routes I take. I feel like I always can count on knowing that I should find one Meijer is as good as the previous one.

Laura B.

Yelp
just drove through the rain to return bottles and grocery shop. The bottle return is closed unexpectedly. I asked the greeter about it and he directed me to some cashiers who could call someone to open up a machine. They were not interested in helping and said nothing could be done. they suggested I return tomorrow. The greeter seemed puzzled by this which I take to mean that they could have done something and decided not to. I tried to call the store manager from my car but got a recording telling me that the customer service desk was closed. I was trying to reach the manager in charge. So no one is in charge? Seems to me that the customer service desk should be open while the store is open. you know...customers and all. this is on the heels of trying to buy a birthday cake from the bakery last week but not being able to do so because no one would come to the bakery. I called the store and they paged someone but I had to leave to return to work eventually. Don't trouble yourselves. I can take my business elsewhere.

Eleni B.

Yelp
This is by far the worst meijer I've ever been too and I love meijer. The staff is always unhelpful, rude and lazy every time I go in there. Do not recommend going there if you have another option, and certainly do not expect to receive help if you need it.

James Q.

Yelp
If you enjoy spending more time waiting in the checkout lanes than your actual grocery shopping; this is the store for you!

John Y.

Yelp
Now meijer want to kill there customers now by taking forever with their line and when they have go home and do breathing treatments do better if want customers to come to your store actually be alive still unless you're goal is really kill customer with it could be

Ovidiu N.

Yelp
I've been a loyal customer here since 1998 and was very happy seeing their increased selection of organic foods and enjoying the Mperks savings. We did 90+% of our grocery shopping at this store not just because of its convenient location between our home and work place, but also because of the welcoming atmosphere and perceived value and diversity of their merchandise (including exploring their clearance section and buying stuff I didn't need but the price was 'too good'). I have to say that something has changed in the last 12 months and especially since April or May of this year. The friendliness of the staff that made me feel like family is pretty much gone. I still recognize some familiar faces but many are gone. The new cashiers rarely greet you and seem annoyed if you ask a question. On one instance their credit card reader was giving an error which made the checkout painfully long given the already long line. The door security system randomly beeps and the clerk there seemed lost having to check my 20+ bags, until he noticed the alarm being triggered while nobody was passing... he then suggested I tried going through again and, of course, there was no beep... While, for convenience, I am still doing some shopping here, we are largely switching to Kroger's or Nino Salvaggio's for most of it...

Beth B.

Yelp
This store is a complete embarrassment to Meijer. I moved to Royal Oak from the Saginaw/Bay City/Midland area and ALL of the Meijer stores put this one to shame! They are clean, organized and carry a much better variety of items than this one. I gave this store 2 stars instead of 1 star because they are remodeling and are hopefully going to get their act together. Today I went shopping for stuff for my MSU tailgate and was excited to see a sign in the entryway with MSU and UofM stuff right off the bat. I literally walked ALL over the store and found nothing but an end cap with UofM stuff for tailgates. I also went to the Men's section to find a white MSU shirt for my husband and found a few items but nothing like the big football tailgate setup like they had at my old Meijer. I also found all the women's MSU gear, IN THE MEN's SECTION!! Really annoying. Hopefully management figures out how to straighten this Meijer up to match their other locations because there are many other options for groceries here.

Nicole W.

Yelp
Thank you to all the employees for working long hours to keep items on the shelves and for your positive attitudes! I was in this store on Saturday afternoon and of course it was a zoo! Every employee asked me if there was something they could help me find. The store was a complete wreck with empty shelves, items in the wrong place, boxes everywhere and people. I give credit to the employees for going above and beyond in customer service having a smile on their face and positive attitudes.

Mina G.

Yelp
Waited 15 minutes for someone to show up at electronics, asked around, nobody knew where they were. Employee finally showed up and they didn't even have any of the several things I was looking for in stock. Pretty crap meijer as far as meijers go

Keith D.

Yelp
What a mess!!! The store is poorly ran!!! I just don't understand with COVID-19 and more people are shopping they have no staff and the staff they have in management is ridiculous!!! About one out of 10 people have an idea of what's going on in the store. Nobody wants to help or it's not dirty pertinent but the management is nonexistent!!!!!!!! I'm in the store I waited over 20 minutes to see a manager and they never came!!! Nobody seems to care what's going on they don't stock any items the place is just a mess!!!

Jeremy N.

Yelp
I am always able to find what I need at this Meijer. It has a great layout. I really like the split aisles. They always have deals going on! My favorite is when they do the interchangeable 10 for 10 deal on various items. Per usual though, there are a lot of registers but most of them are not open. That's okay though. I really do prefer coming to this Meijer as opposed to other Meijer locations or even going to Kroger.

Audrey W.

Yelp
Had a very strange incident happen the day before Christmas. Today, 12/24/20 I was questioning the price of a item I wanted to purchase. one of the staff managers there by the name of Kathy, replied, and my reply was Lady please, She told me she was not a Lady. So I had to return a item at the service counter, she kindly went over to one of the clerical staff, and was telling her of the incident and was laughing about it. How RUDE. I was at the other end of the counter and I heard it. And others heard it as well. My question is if shes not a lady what was she trying to say. Management???? Where is professional Status here?

Laura G.

Yelp
Absolute horrible customer service by some of the cashiers. Really closing your lane without telling other customers in line! Just having you move last minute? Are they supposed to turn off the light?!?

Erika S.

Yelp
Everytime. I come to this store nothing to see no improvement fro every department from this firetvfamous meijers since I was little girl... nothing to change since it is still too old and lack of styling but too overpriced ov r a silly thing.. I don't think we will come back here fro shopping ........ On other hand, I liked different meijers better for some reason... the costs neee go lower fro all residents nor tourists...

Max S.

Yelp
the workers here treat you like garbage if you don't complete their tasks for them and if the greeter lady who does nothing but stand in front of the marketplace door sees this go do something better with your life

Pat D.

Yelp
The pharmacy took my prescription from my doctor, made me wait a day for them to fill it, and then said they would not fill my prescription because it was off-label. They wasted my time and feel they know more than my doctor.

Leonard T.

Yelp
The store was well stocked, good selection, nice produce and the store was clean.... But the employees are going out of their way to cause problems. I was in line for the 7-10 aisles self checkout and there were 3 old ladies and a young mom with a mountain of groceries. At first I didn't think it would be so bad... 20 minutes later I was thinking of ditching a few items so I could go to the 12 items or less isle. I was bored and I hear this woman talking about how some of her friends were fur-lowed and making 25 dollars an hour for sitting at home and that she'd tried to get fur-lowed but nothing was working. That's when I first notice Erma (forgive me if my spelling was off). She was an elderly African american woman maybe in her 50s or 60s. She was just sitting around talking while the old people struggled to buy stuff and the line was half of the length of the store. She was just standing around complaining instead of helping the old ladies through. So, 10 minutes later one of the old women is done and moves to the end of the checkout to bag her stuff and I move into her lane. She says, "Hey, why are you in my lane." I'd said, "I've been in line for 30 minutes and I need to get home soon. You've already help me up for about 20 and I want to be done,"" Erma comes over and does something so I have to stop checking out and says, "You need to go to the back of the line." I'd said, "I just finished waiting in line for 30 minutes, there is no way I am going to the back of the line. I'd be more likely to go to another store than to do that." She says, "That's not my problem'. I said, "Turn your name tag around." "It's Erma," she said as she turned the name tag around. Fortunately the young mom with the grocery mountain finished, so I move to her lane. I start checking out and Erma comes up and says, "When you're done, move that bar down so that you can let the next customer start while you are bagging your groceries. I plop my credit card into the slot and start bagging my groceries and grab my credit card. I was really pissed off and I didn't grab the receipt. Erma comes up and says, " Sir you didn't pay." I was under the impression that she was full of shit and kept walking a few steps. This manager lady comes over and said the same thing. I'd told her that I did and I went back to check the machine and sure enough she was right. It looks as if when you put the bar down it doesn't allow you to pay for the groceries. Normally when you put the credit card in for a minute and bag like I normally do it automatically just does the payment. So, I paid and then left the building. Then I called the corporate office. They seemed nice enough, the director of the store seemed pretty nice too. I'm going to raise it to a 2 star because of her. Anyway the trip was a total nightmare, my grandpa is in the hospital, my girlfriend is moving to another state because she's gotten a two hundred thousand dollar job offer, my work is doing layoffs and after all that I come in here and get held captive by a woman who is sabotaging her job because she wants to be fur-lowed. I'm very angry with this specific store and I don't plan on going back.

Yelp
I would like to start of with a disclaimer that I really like Meijer. Just not so much this one, which happens to be the one I grew up with. Yes, this once-great place where I formed fond memories of rising Sandy the penny pony has gone downhill. Plenty of other reviewers have touched upon most of this stores more blatant pain points, so I will limit my review to some pet peeves of mine that haven't really been pointed out yet. The average age of the customers at this Meijer is now approx 76 years old. Just something to consider if you prefer to shop with anything resembling a normal speed. Be prepared to get stuck frequently in the aisles between multiple electric riding carts that are being piloted seemingly aimlessly. Also, you should fully expect that the person in line in front of you will have no idea how to use the self-checkout lane they unwittingly got in line for--and that the store employees will be too overwhelmed with other customers to assist them. You'll have to painstakingly teach them how to use the machine, just for them to forget everything you taught them about that damnfangled modern contraption before the next time they shop. Aside from all that, this Meijer is rather ancient and dirty compared to some of the other area stores. Even though it's a bit further drive for me, I far prefer the Meijer on 13 Mile in Madison Heights. Really the only comparative saving grace to this Royal Oak Meijer is their superior craft beer selection--which earns it a second star.

Yelp
Usually has the longest waits ever, but a lot Of People must be out of town. We didn't even have to wait at the cashier! Fourth of July Weekend ftw

Yelp
Meijer is the precursor to Walmart. They do carry more organic food items. The store is huge and carries lots of different things under one roof; electronics, clothing, shoes, housewares, appliances, deli and bakery items, produce, automotive supplies, etc. I was a bit disappointed at the lack of quality with some of the shoes they carry and yet the outrageous prices of some of the other shoes. Such disparity in one department.

Yelp
Shopper's Pro Tip: DO NOT SHOP FOR GROCERIES HERE. ... at least until they complete the renovation. It seem as if the Randomness Fairies came thru one night and dropped food products around the store while trying to ensure nothing is where you'd expect it to be. Looking for a specific item? Forget it. Either it's in some improbable location or they don't stock it. At least 25% of the alleged "grocery" store is empty shelves and freezers. Sheer shopping misery. I conversed with a few other shoppers who were also wandering thru the desert trying to find something. They were as puzzled and frustrated as I was. TL;DR: keep going up Coolidge and shop at the Kroger.
