Someone recommended us this place but I didn’t like it at all, the food was pretty much plain for what you expected for a Chinese restaurant, the rice had a greasy/eggy after taste, the beef was plain for a Mongolian beef which is usually pretty tasty and the green beans were okay, they were for my kid. I wouldn’t recommended or wouldn’t go back. Sorry! We left almost everything. We ordered. Combination fried rice 3/10 Great beans 8/10 Mongolian beef 2/10

I was a regular customer here for years. I moved away & returned after 5 years. The overall quality of the service and food has declined significantly. My lomein was cold. My soup was cold. The wait was long. I'm not a complainer so for me to leave a negative review is rare. I'm not sure if the management changed or the chef changed, but in many ways, there has been a decline. I brought friends from out of town & I was embarrassed by the experience. I won't be coming back. The Tso chicken was acceptable. My guest ended up not eating what they ordered. If you are doing a business lunch, I would recommend going someone else.

Visited here with 3 others as a spur of the moment, was visiting from out of town due to a family member being in a local hospital. The service was great, the staff were all friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was very nice also. The food was Okay… I’d say that the dishes were perhaps under seasoned and could use more sauce. That said they were still tasty. There were a good number of options, including vegetarian and vegan options. Prices were reasonable and portions were very large.

My husband and I were looking for a great reasonably priced Chinese restaurant near our hotel. Boy oh boy did we find one with the best sesame and orange chicken ever! Now, we come from a small West Virginia town so we only have one place for Chinese food and it is pretty good but this place knocked it out of the park! The service was spot on, the atmosphere pleasing and the food delicious!

They stole my money. I've been ordering from this restaurant for over 10 years because it's nearby and despite the fact that there is really only one thing worth eating here (the veggie dumpings). Lately their customer service has been so, so bad and the time they have you wait to pick up your food is insane. How are you having customers wait for almost 2 hours for 6 veggie dumplings and one order of General Tso's? Honestly, even the dumplings aren't worth the absolutely atrocious service and the risk that they will end up charging you for food you don't even get. I ordered dinner from their website and went to the restaurant to pick it up at the time that I was told it would be ready. Over an hour after my dinner was supposed to pick-up, I was still waiting. They told me that I should just go back to my car and they would call me to tell me when to come back. There were at least 15 people crammed into their tiny pick up area who were also waiting for their food. I finally had enough and cancelled my order. I asked them issue a refund. They told me they would but it had to go through their website processor. I waited a few days - no refund. I called the restaurant and they assured me they would take care of it. I waited a few more days - still no refund. Finally, I opened a dispute with my credit card. Then the restaurant told my credit card company that the food was provided even though it wasn't. Now I'm being charged for food I didn't get and being called a liar. I don't know how this restaurant stays in business

What a disappointment! I used to love the Meiwah that was downtown on L or M Street, and was really disappointed when they went out of business. I was thrilled to find Meiwah in Bethesda but I was so disappointed in the food. I ordered the kung pao chicken which came with tiny little bits of low quality meat and overly salty and overwhelming sauce that ruined the dish. The waiter was rude, didn't offer to refund my meal even though I hardly touched it, my husband's disc wasn't much better. Overall such a disappointment as Meiwah used to have very high quality food and it appears no longer. I'd go somewhere else if I were you.

Yelp
Looking back over my reviews, I discovered I never wrote a review about one of my absolute favorite restaurants; shame on me. It came to me as I was ordering take-out yesterday. I've had the pleasure of dining in with family and friends. But most of my orders have been to go only because of scheduling. For the sake of this review, it was again to go. This time, I ordered General Tso's Chicken with Fried rice and a bowl of Wonton Soup. It was just what the doctor ordered (okay for me). Their portions are ALWAYS plentiful and well packaged, and the presentation of the food is excellent, but more so than anything else, it's so tasty and favorable. The staff is always courteous and friendly. I chuckle when I call to place an order, and they take my number. I must be flagged in their system because they always make me feel so welcomed: " Hello ____, what can I get for you today?" I appreciate the love. Some other dishes that I have personally eaten there are as follows: Egg Drop Soup Sweet and Sour Soup Spring Rolls B.B.Q Spare Ribs Fried Cheese Rangoon Crispy Shredded Beef Seafood Delight Crispy Whole Fish Jumbo Shrimp with Vegetables Shrimp in Lobster Sauce Orange Chicken Sauteed Assorted Vegetables Combination Fried Rice Combination Lo Mein Miso Soup Edamame Yes, I've tried everything under each menu except the Sushi. There is still time. However, I would want to dine in and sample this menu. The atmosphere is so inviting and conducive for a great dining. This is the place to go, and they have been tried, tested, and delighted by many. Join us for a wonderful dining experience.

Yelp
Meiwah did an amazing job hosting our wedding reception, many thanks to the countless staff members who worked so hard on event day as well as the days leading up to it. Special thanks to Sally L, who was in charge and our point of contact. She updated us throughout the planning and was transparent about restaurant policies. Almost a year prior we were shopping for restaurants in the DMV area that offer Chinese-style banquets. We stopped by for lunch and were impressed by staff professionalism, good food (plus presentation) and beautiful decor. We expressed interest and were shown the private party room and prelim prices. Sally followed up with us via phone with additional info. Several weeks later we decided to book with Meiwah (the wedding date was still available). In the months following, they worked with us regarding menu (crafting a veganized version for certain tables), decor, parking, cocktail hour, and alcohol orders, ect. When things changed they adapted and accommodated. The restaurant also went through a renovation during that time and finished well before the wedding. The patio and dining room looked very modern, elegant and well lit. On reception day we were welcomed to a festive private party, where the usual white linens were swapped out for red and gold tablecloths/napkins. They added red roses for each table centerpiece, table assignments, and arranged our party favors perfectly. They threw in extras (sesame balls, cut up fruit, chocolates, almond cookies). More importantly each course in the banquet meal was excellent. The guests complimented and praised the food (Peking duck, lobster Cantonese, seafood soup, flounder, ect). Staff service was seamless (each course came out perfectly timed, plates and utensils were cleared in a timely manner, ect). Sally was present to tend to guest needs as well as help staff. Many thanks for making our wedding day such a memorable one, as well as going above and beyond to make sure everything needed was catered to.

Yelp
Enjoyed the food from here. Nothing special but decent Chinese in the DMV. I had the chicken fried rice and general tsos. Both very taste and enough food for two with leftovers. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Meiwah - Great Food, Greater Stories! Let me set the scene: I was headed to Meiwah for a meeting -- thinking it would be a typical dinner with some good food. Little did I know, I was in for so much more. The restaurant was buzzing, with the smell of sizzling spices in the air, and I started with a variety of dishes -- the kung pao chicken, Peking duck, and octopus, to name a few. Each dish was bursting with flavor; the kung pao chicken had that perfect mix of heat and crunch, the Peking duck was crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the octopus? Succulent and cooked to perfection. You could tell every dish was made with love and attention to detail. But what made this visit truly memorable was meeting the owner, Larry La. He stopped by our table, and we got to chatting. He's the kind of guy who makes you feel like you've known him forever, with stories that captivate you from the get-go. He told me about his journey from war-torn Vietnam, growing up in East Tennessee, and eventually taking a leap of faith to open a restaurant right in the heart of DC. Larry's story is so inspiring that he's written an autobiography called *"Square Moon: One Man's Journey from War-Torn Vietnam to DC's Hottest Kitchens"* -- a book I cannot wait to read. It's not every day that you get to experience a meal that's a culinary delight while also getting to know the story behind it -- straight from the man who lived it. Meiwah is more than just a restaurant; it's a blend of incredible food and rich history, a true hidden gem that serves not just flavors but experiences. If you're looking for a place that's full of heart and soul (and amazing food), make sure Meiwah is on your list. Trust me, it's a place you'll never forget.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here because I had a bottle of wine at home I wanted to drink. I grew up in DC and was a customer of the owner's previous restaurant, City Lights of China. Ordered the General Tso's chicken, pork fried rice, spare ribs, shrimp/pork dumplings and whole fried fish. The whole fried fish and spare ribs were great. We weren't expecting a snapper as the fish so it was a nice surprise. Everything was super fresh and tasty and up to par with New York Chinese food. Quick service since the food was ready about 20 minutes after ordering on the phone.

Yelp
I have been going to Meiwah for years, and they never disappoint! The food is always freshly prepared and flavorful. The ambiance and service are always good. And the Long Island Iced Tea is a legend on our household! It looks like they recently expanded their menu with new options, which is exciting as it gives me a reason to come back sooner and try something new, though I am a creature of habit and almost always order the same thing. Do yourself a favor and try the Flounder Duet - it is DELICIOUS and the presentation is flawless! It always gets the attention of anyone who can see it because it is a showstopper. The sweet and sour shrimp was classic and tasted good as well. If you're looking for a warm atmosphere with good food, look no further than Meiwah. I just wish they still had their downtown DC location because it was so convenient, but I will happily drive to Chevy Chase for my fix!

Yelp
My wife and I have a place a block and a half away from Meiwah. We have to check on my elderly father, who is still by himself in nearby Potomac; he might move in eventually. We have ordered from Meiwah. We will order again. They are reliable. That is important. They also deliver. I always feel guilty and lazy, since we could easily walk over there or one of us drive and the other hops out the vehicle. But that is a nice convenience. It is great if the weather is inclement. (The speed has been acceptable the few times we have used it. They come right up to the unit.) Everything is as expected. Chinese American food is not the same as Chinese food. It is related. But it is distinct, generally generic and not regional (there are, it is said, eight culinary traditions in the Middle Kingdom, itself a term that is translated poorly; it would be better as Central Kingdom, to communicate the concept that China, like other nations, perceived itself as being what everything else radiated outward from or rotated around as the sun to the planets; that is to recognize how alarming that is, albeit no different than Athens or Rome or Constantinople would have described itself during empire). It also has been modified to a palate that prefers lower ratings on the Scoville scale. This is exemplary Chinese American fare. It is not, if you are looking for what would be difficult to find anywhere in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, the more specific, spicier cuisine available to diaspora communities. That's fine. The adaptation is to the marketplace. The last order we placed was for mapo tofu, which has no meat in their preparation, which is what we would have requested were it not the default; moo shu vegetables, which has no egg, which is too bad, prompting my wife to say we should get it with a protein next time; and pan fried noodles with seafood. We've had various other dishes. People we know have entertained there. They can accommodate a big party.

Yelp
Near Friendship Heights - right on bus lines and parking options nearby... Take the elevator or stairs up to this lovely little Chinese food restaurant and enjoy the ambience, and the options for food and drink. We were there to reconnect as friends happening to be in the same town after decades apart - wanting a place to chat leisurely and also share a meal. The staff was helpful, patient, and polite - giving us ample time to decide on selections, and explaining subtle differences between plates. We also never felt rushed in finishing the meal and opening the table. The food was generally excellent and plentiful. We had shrimp fried rice and a couple of tofu options and spring rolls. The tofu and spring rolls were not the best I have ever tried, but they were tasty and we had no challenging consuming the shared meal. Oranges and fortune cookies were offered as we finally wrapped up. I would definitely enjoy another gathering here.

Yelp
This is my favorite neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Yes, it's a more expensive than a traditional Chinese take-out joint, but I don't think the owners/management ever expected to position themselves as direct competition to restaurants of that sort. The dining area is rather large and fitting for special occasions. I've hosted large group gatherings here on several times over the years. In each instance, the service was great, and the food was good. My favorite dish is the "Fried Jumbo Shrimp with Spiced Salt." I like to request that it be made extra spicy with no shell. It can be found on the "Chef's Specialties" section of the menu. The steamed pork dumplings on the appetizer menu is also a personal favorite. In addition to dine in, pick-up/take-out and delivery are also options.

Yelp
Second time visit the restaurant Didn't disappoint. Variety of food choices ( sushi and traditional Chinese dishes ) Sweet potato sushi, chicken fried rice , shrimp and. Chicken lo mein were excellent quality . Portion sizes were generous. Ask for a nice view by the window Will go again

Yelp
It's unfortunate to write this review, I wish I could keep saying that this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area, but after finding - and almost eating - a whole roach in the orange chicken order, I'm afraid I will not be ordering from here anymore. The food usually tastes amazing, but last night we ordered takeout and when I was about to take the third bite out of the orange chicken, I saw something weird - it turns out it was a roach, whole, stuck to the sauce and the chicken. Needless to say I almost threw up everything I had eaten so far, and had to dispose the rest. My husband called to report it, and all they did was to refund the chicken. I hope that seeing this, they can take further actions into making sure the restaurant is as safe and sanitary as it should.

Yelp
Discovered this place during the pandemic and been a customer since. My fav is beef & broccoli. It has a sauce that's nicely savory, which is what I'm looking for. I can vouch for the wonton soup; it's one of the better ones that I've had in the DMV. The seafood soup is interesting, with shrimp, scallop and crab. I've only done take-out. It's a bit of an effort to get to the take-out area, located on the second floor in the back of the building, up a flight of bleak stairs. On my first visit, I thought I was in the wrong spot. Meiwah is competitively priced and reliable.

Yelp
This is a lovely place to have dinner...it was not crowded at all on the Friday night we were there. My Mapo tofu dish and bok choy with mushrooms were delicious! The tofu was diced very beautifully and the bok choy was a bit over cooked but still tasty. My dinner companions enjoyed their dishes of chicken with mushrooms and chicken with black bean sauce. Parking isn't too bad, especially for the area. We parked in the garage (it cost us $6 for the evening) directly beneath the restaurant and there was no problem finding a spot--the garage was well lighted and the elevator takes you directly to the restaurant on the second floor. We very much enjoyed our meal and the pleasant ambience and will be back.

Yelp
We love Meiwah! We love it so much if we're not in the mood to go out we order it through door dash! We've never had a bad meal there.

Yelp
The Food is excellent. Also, the staff is professional. The atmosphere is modern and clean. Fairly close by Friendship Heights metro stop on the redline. Good safe parking close behind the restaurant.Recommend highly.

Yelp
Traveling on a business trip, this is a very good looking Chinese restaurant in Chevy Chase MD, I was starving and also craving some good Chinese food, so glad I had come to this place, the service was super quick and the food quantity is very decent for the price you pay. I have tried the Egg drop soup and a combination fried rice, I like my food spicy and asked them to make it spicy. They not only made it perfectly spicy but gave me a cup of red chill sauce, both items were delicious. The tables are nicely spaced and the restaurant sits on a corner with surrounding views of the street, it has a dedicated elevator to get to the restaurant which is on the top floor. I am giving only 4 starts, because of the snobby nature of the serving staff. And also the wontons that came with the soup didn't have a sauce with it. Recommend this place if you would like to try some quality and affordable Chinese food.

Yelp
If I could give them 0 stars, I would! I was at this restaurant today, Sunday, 9/8, around 4:30 PM. I wanted to order some delicious Chinese food, as I had never been here before. I ordered 5 dishes: Crispy Beef, which turned out to be pork; General Tso's Chicken, which was completely raw inside, posing a serious risk of salmonella or food poisoning! Two other dishes were Lo Mein--one with beef, which was so bad my family and I couldn't eat it (I have a small child), and the other was Chicken Lo Mein, but it came without chicken and had huge canned, not fresh, mushrooms. The last dish was Chinese eggplant, which was horrible and had no taste. I wasted so much food because we were afraid to eat it. I called the restaurant, and someone answered the phone. After pretending not to understand English well, he put me on hold and left me there! So I dialed again, and he picked up, once again pretending not to understand me. He was repeating what I was saying, twisting my words. I know he understood me! The food today completely ruined my day! I spent $90 for nothing because I couldn't eat it. I want my money back, which was $85.33. It's terrible what that restaurant serves people! I saw online reviews giving them 4 stars--how did that happen? Who gave them those reviews? I feel disappointed and frustrated. If I don't get a refund, I'll report them to the Health Department for serving raw meat! Beware! Please see the pictures below and judge for yourself!
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
The food was just ok - salty stir fry and a slightly too thick brown sauce on the bok choy. Also no chopsticks at the table, you have to request it at the bar! The venue is nice and there may be other better items on the menu, but overall this isn't the most authentic Chinese restaurant you could dine in near Friendship Heights.
google avatar

Yelp
Oh Meiwah, how much do I love your many scrumptious Michelin star quality dishes. So much, so that we plan to indulge on special occasions for the entire family. On our most recent visit, we again bought enough to enjoy our favorite leftovers for days, except for the TWO orders of ribs. They are usually very tender succulent and finger-licking. Well, not this time. They were stubby, bony, unseasoned, underdone, and tough as leather. The meat stayed on the bone. We chewed and pulled for too long to no avail. They were not even worth putting in the oven. We just threw our money and the ribs away. What happened? If they are not done, do not sell them. Now we'll never order them again because of the expense, the inconsistency, and the disappointment. Tough, bony, underdone ribs!

Yelp
Just the best in town. Great food, reliable service , friendly staff, reasonable prices. Just the best.

Yelp
Meiwah has been a reliably tasty go-to for Chinese/Chinese-American cuisine in the area, for many years! Dining and takeout (via back entrance) available.

Yelp
Amazing Chinese spot in Chevy Chase! All the dishes are served family size and has an old school Chinese restaurant vibes. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. Really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. The first time I went there we ordered the jumbo shrimp with salt and pepper, the shredded crispy beef, veggie Lomein and eggplant in garlic sauce. Every single dish was delicious and kept me wanting more! My brother and I couldn't finish all that food so we ended up taking it to go and having it for dinner the next day. I'm definitely going to come back here the next time I'm back in town!

Yelp
Great food, good prices and customer service that goes above and beyond. Had a reservation for 10 people and on VERY short notice, had to increase the count significantly. They accommodated us and served us quickly and saved the day. Really appreciated all they did for us.

Yelp
7/23/22 Meiwah Restaurant is a restaurant I was first introduced to in Washington DC. There was a location near a dance club, but both of these places have been turned into something else. Nevertheless, the one item on the menu is something I tried first, and I am happy I chose it. The Jumbo Shrimp with Butter is a delicious option and one I have been eating for years when I got the chance to eat at this restaurant in Chevy Chase Maryland. Today my family celebrated my birthday a week after my birthday. It's the thought that counts. We discovered the back entrance for picking up one's orders is no longer an entrance to the restaurant itself. Covid-19 has changed the restaurant's policy about Entering From The Rear. In fact, the employees will prefer it if back on out slowly and head around to the front of the restaurant where the elevator and stairs are. The entrance is next to a Chipotle or whatever they are calling themselves now. Meiwah still looked good, but most of the faces I did not remember. There is one server I do remember, but have forgotten her name. Yet she keeps her hair cut short and has for over a decade. This woman who I will call D'vorah for names sake seemed to remember me, but did not seem like the cheerful woman I knew 8 or 9 years ago. People change, but she was still polite. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived at 4pm. There was mixed couple with a son eating there. Something I loved to see. Black man Asian wife:)...getting off topic. I was thinking about the Peking Duck...oops....it is called The Beijing Duck on the menu. I wanted to get this, but my heart and tastebuds want The Jumbo Shrimp With Butter. The Jumbo Shrimp With Butter can come in its shell or without the shell. I noticed on the menu, this option of in shell has been removed from the menu. Tje out of shell option is how them seem to operate now, but if you like or live your shrimp in its shell, let your server know this is how you want it. I specifically asked D'vorah politely to make the Jumbo Shrimp With Butter without the shell. I want to make sure; as well, as not have food be wasted by sending it back. I have had this chef's special with the shell and it was less than satisfied with the results. ...Yeah, it's not for everyone. I did end up trying The Beijing Duck, because my dad ordered it. The Beijing Duck costs $43.00 from what I remember seeing, but the skin and meat is good. Not as good as The Jumbo Shrimp With Butter, but good. Tje oinions with the Jumbo Shrimp With Butter increase the flavor of the chef's Special. I recommend ordering extra if you dare. The Men's bathroom is clean from what I saw, but not the women's bathroom from what my wife told me. My wife informed me the seating were cracked and dirty. I did not noticed this, but I thought I would had this into the review. My dad loved coming back here and i plan to return here again. By the time we left the restaurant, business was picking up. We even saw an Elderly couple who did in fact Enter The Restaurant From The Rear. They had no intention of climbing back down the steps and walking around to the front of the store. Nicely done you two.

Yelp
I got the shrimp fried rice and was not disappointed. A lot of Chinese places in the area have bland fried rice, this was anything but.

Bruce H.

Yelp
Food has gone downhill as has the service There is no ambiance Too bad since this was my go to Chinese restaurant but no more
google avatar

Una D.

Yelp
Pretty mediocre Came here with a friend to have a dinner that was near her place. I got the Hong Kong noodles with pork and shrimp and my friend got the garlic eggplant. The food was pretty tasty and the portions were big. My biggest issue is the cleanliness of the establishment. My friend had a hair in her napkin and my plate was completely filthy when it was on the table. I pointed this out to the server and he seemed a bit annoyed. Also I found that they were very eager to collect the check before we left the table. There was something very off putting about the service and that really just messed up the whole experience on top of the cleanliness factor. The price is okay giving the quantity and quality of food. Parking is on the street. If I was in the area I might come back if there place was cleaner

Yelp
We ordered take out from Meiwah via Postmates and we're pleasantly surprised! The food arrived fast and was still piping hot!! We ordered the Sesame Chicken, Mongolian Beef and Hot and Sour Soup. Hot and Sour soup is a favorite in this house so our expectations were set very high! The soup was amazing and did not disappoint. The flavors were delicious and it had just the right amount of spicy heat! The sesame chicken was delicious as well! The chicken wasn't overly fried like some places tend to do! Now the Mongolian beef is where we had the issue. While the beef was tender and not over cooked, it honestly had no flavor! It just needed something extra. Overall, we were happy with our dinner and We'll definitely order from Meiwah again.

Yelp
Another place I wish I liked more. Overall the food is good but I still have a few issues. It takes 30-40 min for your PICKUP order to be ready. I'm ok with 45 min waits for delivery, that is normal. But pickup orders generally should be quicker and only take 10-15 min. Every time I'm really hungry and I don't want to cook, I can usually rely on ordering pickup and getting food quickly. Not here. The takeout portions were a little small and overpriced for what you get. The Beef Chow Foon container's diameter wasn't much bigger than a regular fork. Granted the bowl is deeper than the picture shows, but it was only the depth of a cereal bowl at best. It was good, but $15 is overpriced in my opinion. This place is just ok. The food is good, but I think there are better options in the DMV. I think I will give it another chance because I've only ever gotten takeout, and after reading some other reviews it seems like the dine-in experience is better. They recently re-opened their dining area, so maybe one of these days I'll stop by.

Yelp
Absolutely baffled by the bad reviews. I've gone here for 15 years and it's the best Chinese in the area. Steamed dumplings, shredded beef with peppers, Szechuan Chicken, hot and sour soup, Kung Pao, and fried rice, all phenomenal.

Allison K.

Yelp
Coming from out of state and was my first time here. Loved my entire experience, came with my friends on a saturday around 5 and were able to get seated right away. The food all came hot and super fresh. The peking duck was outstanding and loved adding it with the pancake and sauce. Will be back for sure!

Yelp
One of the best places for Kung Pao Chicken in the DC region. Recently ordered the lunch special version for $10.50, see pic. Portion size is decent for lunch, and no fillers like celery and carrots. Does not include a typical soup or egg roll unfortunately. Quality of the chicken is very high, similar to Han Palace on Capitol Hill. Only con is that even when extra spicy is requested, it's rarely spicy at all - would give a 4.5 because of that but happy to round-up to 5 because of the quality.

Yelp
I ordered delivery for my family on Christmas day. When the food failed to arrive 45 minutes after it was supposed to, I tried to call the restaurant but the line was busy on multiple tries. I then drove to the restaurant only to encounter a long line of customers hoping to find their food to pick up. After waiting in line for over 45 minutes, I was told my order could not be found. I left, expecting to have to dispute the charge on my credit card. 4 and 1/2 hours after placing the order, the food was delivered unexpectedly. Of course, by then we had found other food to eat. I have no idea why this established restaurant was so ill prepared for the number of orders they received that day but they have definitely lost a customer for having the most atrocious customer service I have encountered in some time. I would give it zero stars if allowed.

Yelp
To be fair, the food ingredients are good, but all their sauces seem to be dumbed down for the Friendship Heights audience. If you've seen the movie The Stepford Wives, you know the sort of sterile, anxious resident I am referring to. Nothing too extreme. They could double the garlic quotient of their shrimp in garlic sauce and it still wouldn't satisfy anyone who loves Chinese food or garlic. They pull their punches with all their dishes. To save money, or to spare their customers, not sure which. I live next door to this place, and it is a matter of last resort for me to order anything here, and every time my hopes are dashed. Sometimes I wonder why I didn't just go to Chipotle and get the guac and chips.

Yelp
I got crispy beef due to the preponderance of good reviews for that one... and it was tasty and relatively crispy, but not a flavor nor texture "experience." The portions and prices were good given the location and ambience, and they kept the bland but pleasant- jasmine tea flowing. My friend got the Kung Lao tofu. Tasty, with an American friendly spice level. I was expecting slightly more from the food taste -wise or some dim-sum or some other wow factor, based on the reputation, write-ups in the papers, location, and longevity of the business. This is a great place to go if you have a less adventurous palate, and want some high quality, American-friendly, or familiar Chinese - American food. The ambience is also lovely and good for photo opps... If you're looking for something to rave about, something elevated, or authentically Chinese, I'd send you to Q by Peter Chang.

Yelp
The food was tasteless, and service was none. I am Asian and to tell you the truth this place is for Americans that don't know what Asian food is!!! Service if you get any ..only if you are famous that the owner claims.. I would never come back or bring guests here because it was shameful for this place to claim Asian food. Don't bother coming here.. ripe off

Yelp
I had an order that needed to be paid for by a friend that wasn't with me. So they allowed me to order and then contacted him for payment. The food was delivered and I had. very specific and sort of complicated order....Combination fried rice, with lamb and fried egg, without vegetables...everything came exactly as ordered and they even included 2 can sodas¡

Yelp
Larry La's Meiwah deserves its legendary, friendly and above all, outstanding reputation for delicious food. High quality, high value and first-class service make Meiwah stand out. We have come to Meiwah for years knowing that we will never be disappointed, and we will do so for years to come. Larry's attention to all details makes us proud and grateful.

Yelp
I ordered delivery from Meiwah and thought it was decent. I phoned in the order and ordered sesame chicken, pork fried rice, shrimp with cashews, and low mein with pork. The delivery didn't take more than an hour. The sesame chicken and fried rice brought me much needed comfort after a tumultuous week. I loved how succulent the sesame chicken tasted. It was nice it wasn't sickly sweet. The fried rice was just right except the meat was cut too big. The lo mein and shrimp with cashews was ok. It tasted rather bland Overall, I'd order from them again.

Yelp
The food is good. Delivery sucks. For some reason they use their own drivers and it takes nearly 90 minutes or more. I wish they would just affiliate with a service.

Yelp
Cannot wait to host another lunch for family and friends. The panoramic view from the dining room is awesome. The hustle and bustle is perfect for the lunch crowd. The lunch specials were not your usual items dismissed by my picky guests. The menu had something for everyone. The vegetarian, gluten free and Atkin's friendly sections were perfect. Peking Duck and steamed whole fish are always best shared. Unparalleled choices and satisfaction. Since the pandemic, pickup Mongolian Lamb for under $20 with extra side of rice has been a savior. Good enough for Presidents and rock stars. One star deducted for closing Dupont Circle location, limited parking and circuitous street level access.

Yelp
I used to eat here back in the early 2000s. I moved to the midwest, and have not been able to get their crispy shredded beef out of my mind. We recently took a trip back to DC and found they had moved locations. The new location is beautiful. Lots of space to host an event. The staff were very attentive and kind. The host showed us all around the restaurant and made us feel like family from the moment we stepped inside. The crispy shredded beef was as good as I remembered. My kids loved the shrimp fried rice so much that we had to order another helping since their dad was stealing bites. Overall we had a wonderful evening. 10 out of 10!

Yelp
The prices here are WAAAY OVERPRiCED ad the food they serve is minuscule on the plate for it! Servers are very greedy for big tips and extremely rude about it if they don't get a large tip and even be as tacky as to approach you and complain too!

Yelp
I don't understand the bad reviews, been coming here for a few months and it's always amazing. I've tried so many casual Asian restaurants in the area and this is by far the best. The sautéed sesame chicken and egg drop soup are my favs! Don't listen to bad reviews - this place is incredible. I wish they were on Uber eats bc I would order them all the time.

Yelp
Meiwah is conveniently located in Chevy Chase. It's on the second floor and when you walk in there's ample seating by the windows. We ordered the duck. They cut the duck in front of you and you eat it with scallions and pancakes. Great price!

Yelp
The food was good and for good price. The waitresses didn't really speak Chinese. Good service.
