Fantastic! 🫰 We had the grilled pork and chicken, and both sandwiches were delicious. Love that they add plenty of pâté! I’ll be back to try more of their menu, in addition to their other bành mìs!

Went to this spot today for the first time! I’ve been to Mekong Plaza plenty of times but never noticed this little eatery tucked in the corner. Parking is easy with plenty of spaces. They specialize in Vietnamese bánh mì sandwiches, and I ordered the #3 grilled beef. It was delicious—the bread was super fresh, the veggies were crisp, and the beef was perfectly seasoned. I made it a combo with a Vietnamese iced coffee (warning: it’s STRONG ☕️💪) and also tried their egg rolls. I love that they also carry Vietnamese snacks and desserts. Definitely planning to come back to try more of their bánh mì options!

Oh my gosh I found this place on DoorDash by chance I haven’t had Vietnamese food in so long and a banh mi is just what I needed Curry is great! A bit soupy but the fresh crispy bread makes up for it. Will bring my boyfriend in soon so he can try!

This is by far my favorite banh mi restaurant and I spent a whole month living in Hoi An (the birthplace of the banh mi). It’s been five years since I discovered this place, and it’s my go-to restaurant. Where do I begin? The FOOD is beyond exceptional. I’ve never had a better vegetarian banh mi (and I’m not even vegetarian). Get the #9 when you go. The SERVICE is warm and inviting. There is truly a family style feel when you go. We’ve been offered free drinks and welcomed with a warm smile every time. The VIBE is casual and chill, which is perfect. I’ve recommended all my family and friends to eat here and will continue to do so. This is also where I bring anyone who comes to visit from out of town as well. I couldn’t recommend Mekong Sandwiches more!!!

Really busy place! Also, they sometimes will sell out of specialty sandwiches 🥪 so go early or call ahead! Very friendly staff and comfortable casual dining are!

We have been trying to find good banh mi! This place is what we have been searching for!! FRESH bread, literally could see the bread baking. Crunchy on the outside soft on the inside. All the toppings are so fresh and crunchy. The meats are literally so tender and juicy. We got three sandwiches and demolished them. The drinks are so good too. I am so happy we tried out this place. Service was quick and easy too! 5 BIG BOOMS!

The fresh made baguettes paired with the patè butter mayo spread provide a solid foundation for whichever kind of Banh Mi you choose to get. Highly enjoyed the simple grilled beef sandwich served warm.

Traveling through Arizona and thanks to other Yelp reviewers, we found this place to grab a couple of bahn mi sandwiches and a drink. Thanks Yelpers! Friendly service and a nice restaurant with a good amount of seating inside and outside. They have a good selection of drinks and food items. The store itself also has a lot of snack items for sale. Highly recommend this place if you're in Mesa Arizona and craving some good Vietnamese food.

Traveling through AZ and saw all the good reviews. Got a golden milk tea and it's really good! Didn't even know it came with boba - happy surprise! Got the Mekong special sandwich which is their version of a deli meat combo. The meat and veggie ratio was good, with a lot of meat. I would like a little more pate, but it was tasty. (You can add more pate for $1.). Also had the pork sandwich. It was good too, but I preferred the Mekong. The guy at the counter was friendly and helpful with a few questions we had. It's located in what appears to be the Asian district of town and is bright and roomy, with some small tables for dining in. There's a large counter with a lot of other food items not on the menu. Also a restroom for customers. My favorite Bahn Mi is actually in Vegas, but this was a good find. Next time we're in this part of AZ, I'm coming here for my Bahn Mi fix.

Best Vietnamese sandwiches that I have tried to so far. Although really sad I ordered the Bo nuong and ended up with thit heo. I didn't realize til I got home. Definitely recommend the Bo nuong (beef) sandwich and I love the combination. I've been back twice already and always order sandwiches to take home. Bread is baked in house along with other Vietnamese dishes such as tre, nem, fish cake, sesame balls etc. The Bo nuong gets five stars from me

Mekong Sandwiches is located on the outside perimeter of the Mekong Plaza. My friend wanted an iced Vietnamese coffee before leaving the plaza. Mekong Sandwiches offers this. We sat outside for a bit, and it was warm. She had to go down the coffee before it got too warm too. Shared parking outside

I still LOVE Mekong Sandwiches but admittedly, the prices have gone up, doubled even- from $4.85 in 2021 to ~$8 in 2024/2025. The su da is about $5, so the combo is $14. There is less meat than I remember, and it's always on one side of the sandwich (left). It was $2 to add an egg to my sandwich today. I'll still support them because: 1. It's a fresh Bahn mi, 2. it's convenient, 3. Support small!

This place is gonnabe leave me with some memories. I was recommended by this place by my cousin, whom I haven't seen for 25 years. We met up here, the vibes were chill and simple. Just the way I liked it! I ordered the standard, Banh Mi Dac Biet, The prices were reasonable, nothing crazy. The sandwiches came out fast and the roll tasted fresh. The main different thing about their Bahi Mi, is that it has red onions, it was slivered either, it was cubed, like for chili. We were there for a good hour before I had to go on the plane. I even ordered some sandwiches too go to bring back! Overall, I would come here again!

Not just my favorite banh mi, but my favorite SANDWICH in all of AZ. I have been going here for a few years, and felt compelled to make another visit after a disappointment at Lee's Sandwiches. I love their grilled pork banh mi, and they have an extra meat option which I always take. All the sandwiches are super reasonably priced as well. Every time I order, it has never taken longer than 5 minutes to receive; they make everything super fast. That being said, the meat and bread are always hot and the vegetables are always fresh and crisp. I have ordered just their bread before, it's really delicious and has a nice crisp outside and soft inside. The restaurant is always clean and there is a lot of seating.

I think I've just found my favorite banh mi place in town. Extremely reasonable price and portion, and the bread! The bread isn't hard as other places and still crispy on the outside, it was the best! It has always been the downside of eating banh mi because the bread is like a jaw workout and half way through it you are exhausted, but no more! Also extra shout out that they clicked away the tipping screen themselves when paying. This actually made me wanted to tip because today's tipping culture is out of control. I can always get behind a shop with good business practices. I think I'll be coming here a lot more.

Oh my gosh, I think I just found my new favorite Banh Mi! And it's so much closer to my house! What a fantastic day. That's sweet barbecue pork, with the perfect ratio of bread, to vegetable, to meat, chefs kiss! The French bread here was so soft And not overbearing with a perfect crunchy crust.

Bahn Mi at Mekong Sandwiches is so good. They make fresh when they get order, french bread is crunchy yet soft and their fillings are good. Though they put a lot of cilantro, I can just remove them myself. Everyone is friendly, and there are plenty of sittings inside. They have other pre-maid food items, you can just grab and go as well! Perfect for easy and satisfying lunch or to-go for hiking :)

First time coming here after hearing lots of positive comments about this place. Lived up to its reputation :). I got the vegetarian w/o cilantro and onions & it was very flavorful and yummy. Generous amount of toppings. Bread was crunchy and warm. Also came out super fast.

Needed a big snack while running an errand at Mekong Plaza. I was in the mood for banh mi, but wanted to make sure they had a meatless option. I checked their menu and was ecstatic to find that they offer a vegetarian tofu option! I was greeted by a staff member behind the counter as soon as I entered. I got there after the lunch rush, so it wasn't packed, which was nice. The place was clean, and there was plenty of seating. I went for the #9 Vegetarian / Bì Chay Vegetarian, which comes with dried tofu, dried yam, and carrots. It was so tasty, and the bread had just the right crunch. This reminded me how much I've missed banh mi! It had been forever since I had one because most spots don't offer a vegetarian option. Now I know where to go when the craving hits!

There are so many food, snack, desserts to choose. The sandwich is delicious. The bread is crunchy outside and soft inside. I like that they put delicious pate in the sandwich. I also like the pate puff pastry and the desert in the cup. They can be busy but the service is fast.

I always crave banh mi when I travel to new cities. There sandwiches were in the top 5. The portion is large. Bread was fresh and flakey, but a little on the hard side. Good amount of meat and vegetables were fresh. Their mayo butter and pate was delicious. Service was quick and my sandwich was ready in a few minutes. There were about 6-8 tables if you did not want to take your food to-go.

Absolutely delicious, stopped here on a whim a few years ago and has been a favorite ever since. Their bread is baked in house and is delicious even eaten plain. Perfectly crispy outside with light and fluffy inside. Highlights are the Mekong Special sandwich and the beef stew (dunk the bread and experience true bliss). Employees are friendly and while it's not fast food, service is relatively quick. Convenient location for some shopping at the Mekong mall after your meal.

This place has been recommended to me so many times as a place for a great tofu banh mi! I was finally able to stop in today. They had two vegetarian options which was awesome- one sandwich with tofu and one with eggs. Service was quick and great, and the sandwich was a great size for its price of around 9$. The veggies and tofu were delicious but the bread was a little hard. I'll definitely be back- this was so yummy!

Mekong Sandwiches was recommended to me by my friend Don, who owns Banhdicted in Tucson as one of his favorite banh mi places in Phoenix. And after going there today I can see why. I ordered the bbq pork sandwich, no pate and it was delicious. The bread had a nice crunchy exterior with a soft fluffy interior. It didn't rip up the roof of my mouth like a bowl of Captain Crunch. The ingredients were fresh and they had so many different options for their sandwiches. They also had a number of other baked goods as well. The staff was friendly and got the food out quickly. With lots of indoor and outdoor seating Mekong sandwiches lives up to the hype.

This is the ONLY bahn mi that I will willingly drive 40 minutes to eat. Mekong Sandwiches is a quaint little over-the-counter restaurant at the corner of the Mekong Plaza. Their grilled pork bahn mi is my fave, so simple yet SO GOOD. The sandwich is hot, pork is delicious, bread is soft, plenty of veggies, and the pate and mayo are great. Service is quick and the food won't break the bank. After grocery shopping, I always stop by to fill up with half a sandwich for snack and I save the 2nd half for later!

We were promptly greeted when we walked in the door. Our food came out really fast and it was soooo good! The prices were very reasonable as well. Next time you're in the mood for a sandwich or need a quick bite to eat, I highly recommend checking this place out! It's a very casual atmosphere but there are plenty of tables to sit at if you want to eat there instead of taking it to go. They also have tons of different flavors of tea and some drinks premade in a fridge that you can grab and go.

Probably one of my many stops when I go to the Mekong market for groceries. The suite is located on the north end of the strip. The interior of the establishment is a little outdated and could use a facelift. This time, I got 2 banh mis; sardine, combination banh mi and 3 pate sho. The pate sho were 3 for 7$. Banh mis were well balanced and very enjoyable. The service here is always great no matter who is taken your order! My overall experience is always good here and for sure will continue to swing by when in the area! KCYE Don

I love this place! The food here is just high quality. I got the grilled beef sandwich which was fantastic. The service was fast and friendly. They had plenty of tables and the restaurant is clean and it's a great place to enjoy some great food.

We had the 01 Mekong Special and 07 Cold Cuts and both were amazing! Probably the best banh mi sandwich in the valley! The meat to veggie ratio & pate and mayo was just right with the baguette. Service was fast and there's plenty of chairs & tables available. They also sell other food items which we'll have to try next time.

Yeah, when I visit the family here from CA. I eat here at least once. It's just the best. I have never been given a bad bite of food here. Today's meal, a chicken curry bahn mi. Of course fresh bread but the curry chicken in a cup was so delicious. Curry coconut sweetness, chunky pieces of chicken, softened potatoes and onions...perfect. Be aware this one's a bit messy, you might want to try this one at home. Enough curry to use as a dip. I bought some sticky rice balls filled with mung beans for a snack later. The service, always polite. Last word... yes.

I love me a good bahn mi and on my last day in AZ for work I was determined to find one. Thankfully Yelp (and the very solid reviews) led me here! It's a very nice, unassuming establishment in Mekong Plaza, blink and you may miss it. I opted for the grilled chicken bahn mi and it was out to me in less than 5 minutes. It's well sized on fluffy soft bread that was soooo good. As was the entirety of the sandwich itself - all the flavors worked super well together. Highly recommend and will be back next time I'm in the area!

Located on the north end of the plaza. Enter from outside only. Very reasonably priced lunch. I had the lamb meatball with a Thai tea. So good I forgot the pictures. My lunch companion had the chicken and raved about it. Counter service efficient and friendly.

This Mekong sandwich shop is so delicious. I just love the barbecue pork sandwich. I like to order extra meat and veggies for $2. I love the white bean balls and the eggrolls.

10/10 food, service, and atmosphere. A small business at the corner of Mekong Plaza but worth walking to after I finish shopping at Mekong Supermarket. Parking lot is usually busy packon weekends and fair on weekdays. I ALWAYS order some Bánh Mi Đặc Biệt to go to have at home. My grandma is vegetarian and LOVES the Banh Mi Bi Chạy. They also have xoi, bánh cam and other baked goodies as well as good viet coffee. You can sit in their eating area or take your food to go :D

Hands down the best Vietnamese sandwiches I've had in the area. I come here almost every week. Originally from CA, I can say that these are on par with some sandwiches I've had over there! My favorite thing to order is the #2 combo grilled pork banh mi with a Thai tea drink. The baguette here is perfect because it is crunch on the outside and soft in the inside. It doesn't cut up the roof of your mouth! I've ordered some bags of their baguettes to dip in my soups at home and they are perfect after a quick toast in the air fryer. The meat is well seasoned and the pate with pickled veggies just makes the most perfect combo. Even their Thai tea is delicious and I can tell that it's made from real tea and not the powder. The service here is always top notch as well! The workers are all super nice and there is usually not a long wait. They get the food out to you quickly. It's a great place to grab some lunch or a snack after you're done grocery shopping. Check this place out if you are in the area!

I was in the mood for a tasty sandwich and after checking out the Yelp app Mekong Sandwiches looked like it was the place that had what I was craving so off I went. After checking out the menu I went with the grilled chicken. It was marinated chicken breast with lemongrass on a fresh roll topped with pickled carrots, daikon, cucumbers, cilantro, jalapenos, red onion, soy sauce, salt & pepper, mayo and pate. This sandwich was just what I was craving! From the 1st bite to the last bite, it was perfection, so dang good! If looking for a great tasting sandwich go give Mekong Sandwiches a try!

Absolutely FIRE Banh Mi Sandwiches. Made w care and love. Authentic ingredients. Good bread, vietnamese butter slathered on that bread. Crunchy and soft at the same time. Here's what we got (ranked from our favorite) 1. Beef and Mekong Special - tie 2. Chicken Packed to perfection w veggies. Vietnamese iced coffee was GASS. Sweet and creamy!

I was surprised the sandwich was very tasty and bread was toasted to perfection! I wish they had the #2 bbq pork that day but they were sold out so I tried #1. I will come back and try #2. Their dessert drink was good too!

I normally come in and order the Bo Kho because they have the best one around!!! I hope you guys never stop selling that delicious dish!!! Everyone there is so sweet and welcoming not to mention their desserts!!!! I love everything on their menu so far. The Bahn Gio is soooo good I didn't know Vietnam had their own version of tamales comes with a quail egg inside as well soooooooo good!!!!!!

When it comes to Banh Mi, I'm kinda spoiled coming from Boston, where there was a famous lady with a small operation in a supermarket in Chinatown who made what it still the best Banh Mi I ever ate. No place has come close, not in CA, Montreal, PHX. But this convenient place in Mesa, is quite satisfactory in quenching the cravings for a good one. Prices are reasonable too and the sandwiches are a good size. Recommended.

I have had Mekong Sandwiches bookmarked for a few years and finally got one of their sandwiches a few weeks ago. We usually go to the Mekong Marketplace for a different restaurant, but on that day, the wait was a bit long, and I needed a quick bite to hold me over till our table was ready. It did not disappoint. Mekong Sandwiches is the most suggested spot for a bahn mi whenever someone asks for recommendations in a Facebook group. For good reason. It's quick and tasty. I'm sure many would agree that bread is a significant factor when getting a bahn mi, and their bread is light and crispy. I ordered the grilled beef and thoroughly enjoyed each bite. One of my favorite aspects of a bahn mi is when the veggies and condiments mix into a tasty bite, and this sandwich certainly had that aspect. I recommend this spot if you're craving a bahn mi in the East Valley!

I ordered the #3 with lemongrass beef no pate, it was definitely fresh and I love that. The beef portion could be a little better and mine was missing the jalapeños or they put a very small amount so that was disappointing. I also ordered the iced Thai tea with boba, it was decent - I wish I was a little stronger but again - very fresh and the boba tasted good. I loved their service, the young man at the counter was very kind and smiled a lot which I like! If you're in the area, I would recommend Mekong.
