"When she baked at Mel, which is now temporarily closed, Nora Allen decreased the amount of levain — natural yeast — in hot weather and was never without a Thermapen, a small digital thermometer used to monitor dough temperature. Before leaving at night, she filled Cambro containers with water to be refrigerated for making the dough first thing in the morning. Water that’s colder than tap produces a cooler dough, slowing down the proofing process. In the heat, it buys the baker time. Allen is in the market for a new production and retail location and dreams of having a doser connected to the water system to deliver water at a set temperature and measurement so she can stop lugging heavy Cambros to the refrigerator." - Deborah Reid

Mel was absolutely amazing. My son is 2 and is a bit wiggly and doesn't like haircuts but Mel was able to get his haircut without any tears. She was very patient and understanding. Her skills are amazing will definitely be coming back.

We were looking for someone to cut kids hair, when we arrived we were greeted and Mel went right to work on cutting the kids! Both girls love their haircuts! Bailey started cutting my hair and thinning it out and we got to talking about coloring hair and decided to color my hair, she got me in same day and did an all over color! Kid friendly !!

I booked an appointment with Mel online which makes the phone anxiety non-existent. I had never used her services before but after such an easy experience from booking, during the appointment, and payment, I won't go anywhere else. Mel cut my husband and 6 year old son's hair and she nailed it. She asked questions for clarity on exactly what they wanted and she also offered her professional opinion. Been here twice, had a great experience both times. She’s dyed my hair twice and been realistic with me on how my hair color might pull when trying to go for certain colors. I will most likely return. A friendly atmosphere and very Welcoming.
