Google
Honestly a really bizarre (but not bad) experience!! haha. I guess sometimes they don't have staff available to work, so you have to call a number to get a code to come inside-- then you pick out what you want (self serve) and also ring yourself up. You can call the number to figure out how to ring yourself up, but they use Toast so it's pretty easy to figure it out. I paid with cash so I wasn't sure where to put it? They didnt have a register.. so I put it under the toast card reader...? The interior is pretty halloween theme right now, but it's a little tacky. Reminds me of someones grandparents junk basement. Not bad, but kinda silly. I rung myself up for their brownie ($4) and it was alright! Pretty traditional brownie, might be a couple days old based on how the sprinkles look & how it tasted, but no problem. I probably wont be coming back because it's.. maybe too bizarre for me. I love the creativity, unique items, and the trust they have in their community-- but I like the face to face human interactions too much. Those are usually what I base my reviews on. Guy on the phone sounded kind! Probably a busy guy, but yeah. Confusing situation unless there's employees available on site. Oh parking is pretty difficult to find as well. This is more of a spot to stop by while you're going on a walk.

Google
Great local bakery thats been serving the neighborhood for a very long time. When we went it was self serve and my girlfriend with a sweet tooth was in heaven. The person on the phone was super helpful and friendly. Fun experience to have a great donut in the afternoon considering most places close early.

Lizsandra E.

Google
One of my favorite bakeries! The best part? I got a couple things, as did everyone in my group, and we all really liked our items. I really enjoyed my chai drink. It was sweeter than most places but I didn’t mind it at all. At one point, the cashier forgot my cupcake and when she noticed, she gave me a sticker to apologize. I really appreciated how kind she was about the mistake. They had so many options too and prices were reasonable. The worst part? Not a fan of street parking so if you go during busy times, this might be tough.

Tiffany R.

Google
They have gluten free donuts that are also dairy free. They do, however, contain eggs. The donuts are rather dense but still tasty. The glaze has a slight citrus twist.

Google
I've been coming here since I was a little boy, and the donuts were just as good twenty years ago as they are now. The persistence of this small, local bakery to create fun, delicious treats is matched only in the community's commitment to their craft. The woman who runs the place is extraordinarily kind despite being so busy it could make your head spin. She still takes the time to connect with customers. Even if its over the phone, as during Covid and on and off since she'll let folks in over the phone to serve themselves on the honor system. A monument to the Nokomis neighborhood. Every time I'm back in town I stop by the bakery without fail. I've lived on the East and West coast, but have never found a better donut. I preach their work to the world, and hope you'll find a moment to understand why.

Google
I've enjoyed Mel-O-Glaze baked goods since the late '70s. The donut that they became famous for is the glazed raised donut, my favorite for years. Through the years they have expanded the variety of donuts and other bakery sweets such as cookies and bars. They have newer donuts such as the maple bacon donut and cereal frosted donuts. A favorite of mine theee is the very big cinnamon crispy. Mel-O-Glaze is definitely an institution in South Minneapolis, on the Minnehaha Parkway near Lake Nokomis. Lake Hiawatha is just down the road.

John B.

Google
I like donuts. These donuts must have about half a stick of butter or cream in each donut. They dont do a lot of psychedelic donuts. Mostly its the basics. Glazed cinnamon rolls are my favorites. Soft, almost mushy in your mouth. Not a lot of air in the dough....which is amazing. Soo....if you are out for a walk in SE Minnesota, and feel like negating the positive effects of the exercise you are getting, this would be my recommendation.

Sarah Alice “Sally” J.

Google
These are the best donuts I've had in the Twin Cities. I brought these into work and had so many comments about how great they were. The owner was super friendly and I got some delicious free donut holes.

Yelp
We came here during the midnight to dawn bike ride. I do appreciate that they stay open late for the community. The donuts are meh. We got a cake donut that was way too dry with a tough texture. It definitely didn't taste like it was made that day. We also had a raised donut. The texture was fine. This was definitely a novelty -- it had cereal on the top! It was alright. The man behind the counter was a little grumpy...but it was 2 am. It is in a great location and it was a good pick me up during the ride. The inside seems to have nice decor but I don't think you can eat inside? I'd recommend going elsewhere for better donuts. They are pricey for what you get.

Yelp
Stopped in after hike for a treat. This place has been around forever and had many different items to try. The mini chocolate eclairs were adorable and I had to grab a lemon bar. My husband also grabbed a rhubarb pastry and a bavklava.
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
If I want an apple fritter I go here. They are late and delicious. The place itself is a bit quirky and you might find yourself ringing yourself up over the phone with the owner. It's a bit odd. The fritter is worth it.
google avatar

Dan D.

Yelp
Almost too close to home.... I visit Mel-O-Glaze Bakery more often than I should. The donut holes are some of the best around. Buy 2 dozen because the first dozen is gone before getting home.
google avatar

David M.

Yelp
I was feeling donuts last week and looked at Yelp for some reviews for donuts and found a review that convinced me to try it out. Glad I found that review. This place knows how to make donuts. I arrived shortly after opening and was welcomed and offered to try a donut hole. That's the best welcoming I've had at a business SOLD! Those donut holes are fresh and chewy. There seems to be a lemon glaze over them. I also tried a maple bacon donut. It's a strong maple flavor do if you like maple, you'll love it. I don't like apple fritters, but when I tried a bite of my partners, I realized I should have gotten one for myself. The only Apple fritter I've ever liked. I will definitely be back in the future.
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
1) when you show up you get a mini donut!! And it was lovely 2) great kids donuts 3) we loved the donuts holes and bought lots!
google avatar

Nicole G.

Yelp
I've been on a donut kick lately. My friends raved about this place and was so kind to pick me up a chocolate cake donut from here last Saturday. I thought it was okay. I loved the sprinkles on top and the amount of glaze. It did not have much of a chocolate taste to me. Kinda blah. Would I get it again? No. However, I'd come back to try a different type of donut... apple fritter or a cinnamon roll donut. Or whatever my eye catches the day I decide to make a visit for myself. I try to support local bakeries/shops, so I'll stop by for a visit in the future.

Yelp
It took several tries but we found this shop open (8 am to noon?) so we bought some of excellent raised puffy glazed donuts and a big flat crispy. They were exceptionally good. Cake donuts are the heavy dense kind my great grandmother used to make with good flavors. The clerk was I kind and explained that afternoons they have a self-serve system if you call from the doorway. It's a cute old fashioned shop - only issues are lack of parking (street only) and the donuts are all cold.

Yelp
"Mel-O-Glaze: Home of Free, Legal Crack Balls" aka donut holes (lol) It makes me a little sad not to see a higher average rating for Mel-O-Glaze. It sounds like they had some poor customer service five or so years ago. I started going in 2021 and have only ever had amazing service and PHENOMENAL donuts -- they even gave me some free donut holes the first time I went. My family is from New England and they don't mess around with donuts out there... I have to say that the raised glazed twists at Mel-O-Glaze are (so far) the best donuts I've ever had. The texture is perfect and there's just a hint of orange flavoring that is *chef's kiss.* I also appreciate the humor throughout the shop (see pictures). Zero complaints. Minneapolis hasn't seemed to have caught onto the epic-ness of this place yet, but if you need me I'll be there eating my weight in donuts. Parking: I usually park on the street and haven't had an issue.
google avatar

Rob B.

Yelp
I've driven by this place a million times and never stopped. However, my husband and I had a need for "a sweet" on the way home yesterday. We picked up a dozen mixed donuts, and DAMN, have I missed out. Each one was better than the last. I was especially partial to the blueberry donuts. We smashed that entire dozen in 24 hours. Def be back! Thank you!!
google avatar

Rosanne M.

Yelp
The best donuts we've ever had!! They melt in your mouth and taste amazing! Very nice variety of flavors and they have delicious pastries too. Their donut holes melt in your mouth, and they always have free samples. Free off street and lot parking, close to Lake Nokomis. The female employee with pink hair is super sweet and helpful each time.
google avatar

Paul D.

Yelp
Best donut EVER! The same for the crispy. Our first visit, we will be back. Awesome shop, 63 years and still fantastic.

Ellie S.

Yelp
To start off... I'm a donut connoisseur. I love donuts. I decided to visit this bakery on a Sunday afternoon and was the only one there at that time. A lovely woman greeted me and gave me a free donut hole right away - amazing. We got about 8 donuts: glazed, chocolate glazed, s'mores, maple bacon, mocha, an apple fritter and a few donut holes. WOW!! They were incredible. The perfect combination of fluffiness, moistness and sweetness. The glazed has a hint of lemon or orange to it which was unique but tasty. If you're looking for wonderful donuts and customer service you have to check them out
google avatar

Robyn L.

Yelp
Friendly service and even gave us free samples of donut holes. Could tell this place has character and that the owner has a sense of humor, happy to support. Have good Covid system of 6ft apart ordering wearing masks and one designated door for entering and exiting. Only reason I didn't give five stars is because I felt the donuts we got were pretty heavily glazed, felt like I was tasting all glaze and not enough of the yummy donut. My personal preference is not heavily glazed/frosted, but even the cake donuts available when I went were glazed. Some enjoy donuts this way, I just wish there were some options without so much glaze. Again, more of my own opinion on what I love in a donut and not a critique of their style.
google avatar

Yelp
If you want to find one of the little donuts shops in Minneapolis head over to Mel O Glaze and get one of their amazing glazed donuts or one of the decadent frosted delights. They have a lemon hint and a doughy texture and the layout of the store is a casual cafe with different seating areas. It's open early and is worth the stop and is in one of the cooler neighborhoods in Minneapolis.
google avatar

Katherine B.

Yelp
Pandemic review! The doors are open! It's supposed to be one way in and another way out...except of course some dudes can't read signs, or wear masks. Cmon people. Still, they've got a good no touch open air system going this summer and their blueberry iced donuts are a treat! The icing was almost overkill though, super thick.
google avatar

Kevin T.

Yelp
$48/dozen. If you want cub food quality donuts for LV prices, this is for you. The donuts are not extraordinary nor creative to garner this price.

Andrew D.

Yelp
New to the area and was craving a donut this morning. Decided to walk over and was pleasantly surprised to be offered a donut hole upon arrival. Ended up getting some glazed and cake donuts which were large and extremely tasty. In addition we got a few mini cream puffs that were delightful! Will be back.
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
Donuts are delicious and they have some fun creative kinds. I had the s'mores donut and my daughter had the Pop Rocks donut.
google avatar

Yelp
Beware that I LOVE donuts so this review may be a little biased. I went to Mel-O-Glaze Donuts on a Saturday afternoon around 2 pm. I was expecting that there would be very few donuts as we were visiting so late in the day. However, I was pleasantly surprised! There was a great selection of donuts and pastries for it being late in the day, post morning rush. We were the only 2 people in the store at the time so we were able to order and receive our food immediately which is always a plus. We got a bacon and maple cake donut and a 24 pack of glazed donut holes. They were AMAZING! The glazed donut holes have a lovely, unique lemon flavor which was a nice twist on such a traditional donut. The bacon and maple cake donut was superb. I personally love maple on donuts and there was even the original glaze with the lemon flavor on the bottom of the maple and bacon donut. I really appreciated that the bits of bacon on this donut were small and crisp. Overall a fun and tasty experience.

Yelp
The BEST chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. I'm never disappointed when I come here and always make it point to stop by when I'm in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Kailee C.

Yelp
Nice local bakery in Minneapolis. I tried the custard long John with chocolate and sprinkles on top. Nothing super special but it was tasty! The chocolate chip cookie was crunchy and crumbly. I prefer soft and gooey but if you like hard cookies then this would be good for you! She also threw in a donut hole. Glad I tried it out!
google avatar

Emma D.

Yelp
Visiting from Hawaii! Nice bakery! We stopped here after hanging at Minnehaha Falls. Well... Tbh we kinda got lost and ended up here lol Anyways... The woman who helped us was super sweet. I loved her hair color btw! She gave us glazed donut holes to try. They... Were.... Delicious! The texture was perfect! We enjoyed their long john and cinnamon roll. I'm a huge fan of the cinnamon role! It is huuuuuuge! Oh and I finally know where the large pink donut from the Simpsons came from lol Good location and easy street parking. Nice place to treat yourself after some physical activity. They have dog treats tooooo
google avatar

Tisha B.

Yelp
This little corner bakery is all kinds of funny, kitschy and let's not forget delish! They have got a wide assortment of sweet treats. These giant donuts are huge! They make these wonderful little donut holes that have a tiny hint of lemon that you quite can't put your finger on....they used to call them something else, which was funny and memorable, but someone's didn't appreciate they funny. Either way, it's a quirky, sweet place that ide recommend popping into.
google avatar

Giselle S.

Yelp
First treats from Mel-O-Glaze. A nice neighborhood bakery. They offer a twist on their glaze treats with a twist of lemon that helps cut the sweetness of the glaze. Their donuts are huge and yummy. The chocolate glaze donut was love at first bite! The donut holes are very good. Don't miss this welcoming neighborhood bakery.
google avatar

Shaun J.

Yelp
If you love donuts, you'll love Mel-O-Glaze. I first found this gem while biking on Minnehaha parkway. I'm so sad my little suburb lost its old school bakery, let's give this one lots of business so no more neighborhoods have to go without. As a bonus they have signs claiming a COVID cure. Donuts might not cure COVID but they taste better than silver or bleach. Cruelly placed along biking and the marathon route, this is the place to go.

Yelp
Mel O glaze has officially become my favorite donut spot. The consistency of goodness across all of their flavors of baked goods as well as across all my visits has me giving them a perfect 10/10 for quality and yumminess. Their donut holes are my go to - the glaze is sweet with a slightly lemoney flavor that's super addictive and has me stuffing them into my mouth like popcorn. I've tried their cheesecake (rich and such a treat) their fritters (all soo good and perfectly crunchy in all the right ways) and even their cat cookies (ok I will say my cats didn't really eat them, just drooled all over them). But every donut I've tried put a smile on my face. It's like I'm cast by a happy donut spell made by a magic mix of delicious colorful delicacies, the spunky building and staff's great character /charm that makes me feel like I'm walking into an extension of home.
google avatar

Megan D.

Yelp
Perfectly light and fluffy! The blueberry donut is a must have along with the raspberry jam filled donut. They are sure right when they say they have the best glaze. Staff was extremely friendly as well.
google avatar

Danielle S.

Yelp
Got a box of donuts for takeout. Ordered ahead of time via text and it was super easy. Donuts were super fresh and service was friendly. My favorite was the raised glazed. Definitely one of my favorite donut shops in the twin cities. The donuts were even really good the next days.
google avatar

Jen V.

Yelp
I would go off keto for these donuts. This is my favorite donut shop in the entire state. The owner is a true treasure. There's a nice hint of orange in the glaze which really balances the sweetness. I almost always get a free donut hole but don't go in expecting it. Expectations can lead to disappointment. The maple long John with bacon on top and cream filling is a life changing experience. They have coffee but you came for the donuts.
google avatar

Ana O.

Yelp
I admit it - I have rarely met a donut I don't like. That being said, Mel-O-Glaze has some of my favorite donuts (so far) in the Twin Cities. I've primarily eaten their yeast donuts and I find their texture light and well-made. And on the right day you can get a free donut hole sample (and they're really good). If you are a bacon lover, I HIGHLY recommend the maple bacon custard filled long john. First off, the donut is quite large and filled with a good amount of delicious custard. It's a large, thick piece of bacon on top as well. This is hands down my favorite donut they offer. They also make an amazing apple fritter (I've also seen a blueberry fritter too). The only cake donut I've tried was a pumpkin one but that was pretty good too - moist and plenty of pumpkin spices. I haven't had a bad donut here. If you pressed me to find any flaws, I would say that they are definitely on the sweet side. However, it's a donut - it should be sweet! I've had great service every time I've been here. The owner has been friendly every time. Just a note that the number of people allowed inside is basically one at a time so you'll have to wait outside until it's your turn (and make sure everyone is wearing a mask). However, if you know what you want you can text your order to them and pick it up curb side to avoid waiting in the cold. I can't recommend this place enough!
google avatar

Justine L.

Yelp
I discovered this place during a random walk around the lake. I've heard really great things about the birthday donuts that they offer here. The customer service was amazing. By the time I got there late morning, they had run out of a lot of the donuts. Nevertheless, the woman serving was so sweet and kind. She gave my son a couple extra free donut holes which made his day. The donuts were good and I will definitely come back. Definitely worth supporting a small local business while you walk around Lake Nokomis.

David N.

Yelp
Mel-O-Glaze features prominently in the story of my engagement to my wife, whom I married early September. Once we knew we wanted to seal the deal, we agreed to find unique ways to propose to each other. Two things we both love are sweet treats and sappy romance. It was an inspired moment when she chose to ask me for my hand by way of a doughnut. When Brenna proposed the idea to Mel-O-Glaze, Paulette offered to prepare the doughnut. It was delicious and I said 'YES'. Over a year later, Mel-O-Glaze gifted us a second doughnut for our special day. We appreciate Paulette's generosity and taste for good fun and amazing doughnuts. Thank you! Thank you!

Daraisha F.

Yelp
This donut spot is amazing!! I'm not a fan of donuts but after trying the amazing donut holes I can no longer say that. these are the only donuts I eat they're so delicious!! I can't wait to go back again to try something else! I highly recommend this spot. 10/10

Yelp
We came by after trying a competitor down the street and wanting to be able to really say, "Place X is better". At the end of the day, this place was awesome a did a better job in the realm of baked sweets than some of the other spots in the area. We started with a sample of a donut hole which both I and my 2.5 year old appreciated. We decided that two donuts and two cookies were in order. We began with the peanut butter-banana-chocolate face donut. This may be the best donut since the beginning of time and may be the calorie dense item I've ever seen. The face on the outside a good start, but the inside filled with the aforementioned combo makes for what shall henceforth be known as bakery bliss. Seriously, this was incredible and may be a superfood - the sort of thing that would solve hunger problems if distributed widely. We then procured a cherry bomb and as it's name suggested, it is indeed a delicious weapon. The filling was good, but the real magic was occurring in the actual donut - it was straight up amazing! Soft, sweet and delicious - it's how I imagine a diabetic cloud tastes on a warm day. We also indulged in a couple angry bird cookies as they were colorful and a 2.5 year old does love colorful carbs! We made the mistake of keeping them until the following day at which time the fluffy cookie had been sucked dry of moisture and was rather hard. Moral of this story is that you should eat these the same day. They have complimentary coffee for all patrons and plenty of seating at which to enjoy your baked deliciousness. Based on the reviews my expectations were not super high, but after coming by, I'm hooked! This spot, along with another down the way, make for quite the intimidating and delicious bakers mile! Worth checking out and them coming back to again.
google avatar

Alik W.

Yelp
HUGE donuts. I tend to go for fritters, bombs, and other things glazed. They are soft, yeasty, and fresh most any hour of the day. Coffee is no Caribou, but it'll cut the glaze for you. And that's the only bad thing -- they use enough sugar to even deter this sweet tooth. I love me my glaze, I'll eat honey from the jar, but this is a little over my limit. Doesn't stop me from going, though, I just tend to wipe a bit of glaze to the side.
google avatar

Ben B.

Yelp
Honestly the best donuts in town. They also have the best gluten free donut in Minneapolis (albeit the glazed vanilla old fashioned is the only GF flavor). Recently they've seemed to have been short staffed, but if you catch them at the right time you will be glad you dropped in.
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
I've been here a couple times now, and honestly I like it more each time. The charm lies in the small details - the roughness of some of the staff (not in a bad way, just in a "none of that fake smiley customer servicey 'tude that makes people seem like robots" way), the funny pictures lined up against the windows (some are not for the easily offended), the random scattering of mismatched tables and chairs, and a very cozy, casual atmosphere. The donuts here are actually some of my all-time favorites. Mel-o-glaze donuts - emphasis on glaze - rival the sweetness of Krispy Kremes (which I LOVE. SO. MUCH. brb driving to Iowa) and they're a dollar a piece for the classic varieties! They're open in the afternoon/evenings, but towards the end of the day will start running out of donuts. Best to go early-ish if you want a prime selection. Their other confections are great as well - amazing lemon bars!
google avatar

Caitie D.

Yelp
If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. It is the best bakery in the area for delicious, home-style baked goods. My favorite donut here is just the basic raised glazed. They are always fresh, delicious, and unique. The glaze has just a hint of lemon, which gives it a little something special. I also love the filled donuts they have, which is not a typical go-to donut for me. But the giant glazed donut filled with peanut butter and bananas is basically heaven on earth. It will fill you up for an entire day, but it is delicious and well worth a try. I absolutely love this place. Their donuts, pastries, dog treats, everything I have tried here is delicious.

Sean G.

Yelp
The best lemon flavored glaze. The friendly service and reasonable price keep me coming back for more.

Mary S.

Yelp
The raised glazed donuts are just fabulous! Light, as they should be with a great glaze. Also like their chocolate donuts. A great place to eat and they care about their customers.
google avatar

J S.

Yelp
The owners are extremely friendly... the 1st "crack" doughnut hole (ball) is on the house. There is a surprisingly pleasant slight hint of lemon in the "crack" The neighborhood-corner store blue collar vibe works very well here. There is nothing fancy and that is just fine. There are several HUGE items... like a 1 lb chocolate pastry filled with cream. OMG‼. Only thing that made it better was the 30sec microwave heat I put on it. :-)

Timothy B.

Yelp
Been going here for 40 years now, and always satisfied. Only problem is that now that I'm retired, I like to sleep late --so they're usually sold out of my favorite, the raised glazed donut, by the time I get there. But lots of other good stuff to pick from. The custard filled donuts are great, also the blueberry fritter. And the cookies are good, too. Young people like the angry bird cookies, and I got a dozen of the blue state Minnesota ones to take to the poll workers on election day. (I think it was just an excuse when the head election judge said they might be considered political, so they 'd better eat them all up immediately!) I've never had anything here that was less than delicious!
google avatar

Ian M.

Yelp
Been somewhat disappointed the last few visits here. First of all, the place is always incredibly messy, with the morning customers' crumbs still littered on every table at 2, 3pm. That has always been an issue, so it's not even considered in my rating. Lately, tho, they've been sold out of virtually all donuts by 11am. That's fine, if you close when you've sold out (a la Bogart's, etc). But if you're open until 6pm, you're gonna need backups ready. Then, today, we received downright terrible service, with our order not even taken, while the staff member sat on the phone in the back (in plain view). Definitely gonna avoid this spot for the foreseeable.
google avatar

Brittany L.

Yelp
The owners are so helpful, and the food is great! I got the sense that maybe they were a little overwhelmed; however, it didn't detract from my experience. I left with about 8 different donuts and one of their gluten-free dog treats (which my pup loved). We are visiting from Oklahoma, but when we come back, we will definitely stop by Mel-O again!

Beth S.

Yelp
if you are looking for delicious donuts, look no further than Melo-Glaze! The donuts melt in your mouth! They also have fantastic gluten free donuts. But, the best part of Melo-Glaze is the customer service!
google avatar

Nathan L.

Yelp
I think its lemon. Not quite sure but I'm pretty sure its lemon in them there glazed. Although we were a little uncertain while eating them so we had to have almost 4 glazed donuts before we were pretty sure. I believe we are going to have to go back and do some more detective work. It is a great place but keep in mind this place has a slight twist of the soup nazi on staff and he would like you to be prompt with your order. He would look you straight in the eye and expected your order. He was cruising through the line as people were spouting off their orders like they had been rehearsing them in their heads all the way to the door. "2 glazed twists, 1 cherry bismark, 2 glazed, 1 apple fritter and a cinnamon roll. " Slide step to the left pay, say thank you, leave and eat until your tummy hurts.

Yelp
Really good dough. Fresh. The glaze has a hint of lemon. Great selection. Delicious. We usually get a couple raised doughnuts.

Yelp
It has been on our radar for awhile now to try to find a good old doughnut shop that doesn't offer gourmet pastries and doesn't charge $3 a doughnut. If that's what you're after, Mel-O will fit the bill. This shop falls in the category of "it aint fancy, but it's pretty good." The shop itself is not the most welcoming -- honestly I'm not sure I'd feel super comfortable plunking down and eating my doughnuts there. But for takeout, it's perfect. The doughnuts themselves (plus other various pastries and baked things) are housed in a glass case. You simply tell them what you want and your order is packed up in a bag. There aren't a ton of options but the straight glazed and chocolate iced were enough for us. There are a few coolers with cold beverage options and I did spot a dispenser for coffee on the counter, but this is not the type of shop that's going to be making you a latte to go with your doughnut. The doughnuts themselves were fresh and really moist. The glaze and the chocolate icing literally flake as you bite, which results in a delicious kind of crunch to the outside of the doughnut and a shower of sugar falling on your shirt, on the ground, on the plate, etc. But this is a case where messy is good and the doughnuts were really tasty. We also thought we detected a slight lemony taste to the glaze, which we liked, though others might not. We saw a woman pulling a tray of doughnuts from the fryer while we were there -- a good sign of the freshness. Service wise, the guy that helped us was friendly enough. I was sorry to see that they weren't more busy. It was just us and one more customer at 8:30 on a Sunday morning. It was $6 even for half a dozen doughnuts -- $1 per basically. That's less than say Glam Doll but more than I'm used to paying in other cities for a doughnut. Still, I will happily pay that for my fix and a really pretty solid doughnut offering. We are happy to add Mel-O to our list of doughnut options.
