"Mélange is an upscale Asian-European hotel restaurant located in the Le Méridien Pasadena Arcadia hotel. The restaurant is overseen by chef Makoto Tanaka, known for his work at Chinois on Main and Spago. The menu features dishes like roasted duck leg confit, peppercorn-heavy New York strip steaks with porcini mushrooms, garlic noodles, tuna tataki, and a variety of cocktails and wine." - Farley Elliott

I wanted to share our amazing experience with Ray at Mélange restaurant in Le Méridien Pasadena. Since my wedding was out of the country, my parents wanted to host a local dinner for friends and family who couldn’t make it, and Ray was the perfect person to help us pull it off. Ray, the manager at the restaurant, provided exceptional service for our intimate gathering. His attentiveness and willingness to accommodate our specific needs truly made the event special. He went above and beyond to create a cozy atmosphere for our small group of 30 guests. We also requested a fully vegetarian menu, which can sometimes be a challenge for restaurants. However, Ray worked closely with us and consulted the Chef to craft a delicious westernized vegetarian menu that everyone loved. He even created printed menus for our dinner, adding a nice touch! Hosting our gathering at Mélange turned out to be a fantastic choice. The staff (Ray, Horace, & others) made our celebration truly memorable. If you're considering hosting an elegant dinner, baby shower, bridal party, or birthday here, I would highly recommend it! Ask for Ray - You'll be in good hands!

Came here for brunch. Food was excellent! Drinks were amazing (both mock and alcoholic). The gelato was good too! I would recommend the trio sandwich and the poke and hamachi. The charcuterie board was good too. My wife and kids loved all the cheeses on that board. Meat and fig jam was good too. The coffee was excellent too. Steak was good, but on the thin side. Overall no complaints. I would definitely come back. I also recommend all the mock drinks, they were all tasty.

I really wanted to love this place! Especially since we picked this place to have our mother’s day brunch! Service: they demand 21% gratuity _ I wouldve expected their service to be better. We waited a long time even to get a glass water. It took even longer for our drinks and ten times longer for our actual meals. There was only one waiter and no one else checked on us. Food: for starters we have the avocado toast. This made my husband and I so sick! My stomach started hurting and thankfully we live 5 minutes away, I had to rush to the bathroom. My husband hasnt left the toilet in over 20 minutes -main course: Karaage chicken and ube waffles - chicken did not taste fresh, it tasted like reheated chicken and there was NO ube taste in the waffles and barely any fruit Chilaquiles - it looked like nachos with two sunny side up eggs American breakfast- nothing special just scrambled eggs and potatoes and bacon Dessert: a mix of cakes and pastries - the kids loved it of course but I didnt care for it that much Overall it was not worth $350 especially we were forced to pay $50 for tip We will not be returning. I’m still sick from brunch

We had mixed feelings about Melange. The place is gorgeous. Our waitress was really great and couteous. The food was hit and miss and took quite a while to arrive. My fish and dumpling dish was great but the steaks for our colleagues were very over done versus the medium order. They have a very good matcha basque cheese cake. Overall it could be better.

Mélange in Arcadia is a hidden gem inside a hotel, offering a great spot to unwind and relax. The drinks are fantastic—I’ve had the Break Maiden, which is perfectly crafted. The food is equally impressive, with the curry fries being my favorite, though the roasted carrots are a close second. The ambiance is inviting, and the service is top-notch. A standout touch is Erik, who seems to be a manager, going above and beyond to check in and ensure everything is perfect. Highly recommend for a laid-back yet elevated experience!

Updating for the High tea and Highballs experience! Wonderful tea time! The service was attentive, the tea was great, we had the earl grey , jasmine and oolong. Two of us had the regular Chinese tea set, one had the hi-ball tea set that came with 2 cute little pancakes topped with caviar, which were delicious, and a very good tea-infused highball cocktail. Gave the food 4 stars instead of 5 because of the scones, Devonshire cream, and mochi ball skewer. The vanilla and matcha scones looked lovely, but were crumbly, they fell apart when trying to spread the cream and lemon curd on it. Secondly, although the menu said there’d be Devonshire cream, it was actually more like or butter, thicker consistency and not sweet. Lastly, the 3 mochi balls on a pretty skewer were not what was expected. They weren’t actually mochi, they were dango, more densely packed rice balls that had the consistency of hard playdoh. We saw that other tables left only these dango balls on their tea tray as well. But other than these, the rest of the food was wonderful, esp the taro mochi , smoked salmon sandwich , lobster & egg salad sandwich , and shitaki mushroom with truffle aioli sandwich. We had the DineLA menu and it was such a good value, at $55 per person! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful. I didn’t post the other courses or dessert, they came out too blurry, but there were several courses , each one was fabulous. I’d love to come back to try their high tea.

I had a wonderful business dinner in their private dining room. It was a great place for it, it offered privacy yet had big windows looking down into the main dining room. The server was fantastic and the food amazing. High recommend the restaurant and if you need a private dining experience their 3 room are perfect.

Introduced by a friend, because I heard they have caviar to serve for high tea, but actually they do not. 30 mins waiting for a waiter to come to pick the tea, another 40 mins waiting for first course, another 30 mins waiting for the desserts. In the mean while, nobody came to ask us if we need anything, but they forced to charge 18% service fee?! I understand there was a event there, but I think all customers are worth for being served well. The food was not worth for $80/person, desserts looked like some retail brand were put in the dish. I do not judge the taste because everyone has different taste system, but overall, not worth to go there for afternoon tea even once!

Yelp
We came at 11am on a Sunday and maybe 7-10 tables full. Servers were at times fast and at times slower; they checked in on us maybe a handful of times. The drinks were were tasty and the food was good. I had the mini Japanese sandwiches and although it looked like the bread was thick and hard - it wasn't! It almost was smoky inside but in a good way. My favorite was the lobster and egg salad honestly because the egg salad was so fantastic. Parking: there's mandatory valet at the hotel. However, they validate up to 3 hrs. If you choose to park your own car, it's across the street. Overall, a gorgeous hotel and restaurant - would recommend.

Mary K.

Yelp
My family went here for breakfast. It's located inside the Le Meridien Pasadena Arcadia Hotel. You have to Valet your car, but it's free validation for the first 3 hours if you're going to the restaurant. Honestly, the prices were pretty steep for what the food actually was. They did have some unique items like the Yuzu pancakes; however, for the price, I would pass on coming here for breakfast. Food: -b.t.l.a sandwich 4.5/5 ($24) The bacon was amazingly crispy and the levain bread was delicious and toasted. I was very pleased with the sandwich overall; however, I wished it had more flavor. Or maybe if the bacon was caramelized -- it would've made the sandwich a 5/5 for me. The fries were also extremely crispy and well salted. My entire family liked the fries. -chicken karaage and waffles 5/5 ($24) This dish came with Belgian waffles and Japanese fried chicken. The fried chicken itself wasn't too oily and well-seasoned. The waffles were also airy, and delicious. I would definitely recommend, it's just a little pricey for what it was. -signature traditional Japanese breakfast 3/5 ($28) The Japanese traditional breakfast came with rice, a small bowl of miso soup, a small piece of grilled salmon, and assorted pickles. The piece of salmon smelled incredibly fishy. I could unfortunately smell the salmon from across the round table that fit 8 of us. The portions of everything were also very small. This was definitely not worth the price. 3 of us got it and they all described the breakfast as "okay" and not worth the price they paid. TLDR: I would rate this place a 3.5/5. It's a breakfast spot inside a hotel so the prices are super steep, and you have to Valet your car. Sure-- the Valet itself is free, but you should still tip. The food here is pretty good overall but it's definitely not worth the price.

Mary N.

Yelp
Order the cheese & charcuterie and it was decent. Eggs Benedict was good. Chilaquiles was okay. But the mini Japanese sandwich Trio stood out as the best. The latte was excellent as well as the chamomile yuzu mojito. We actually came for the tea time brunch but did not see it on the menu so we were very confused. Also didn't know that this restaurant is inside a hotel either. All in all it was a dining adventure.

Yelp
I are at melange again and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I went with the servers recommendation for chicken au jous. It was amazing. Cooked perfectly! The flavors were balanced. I woke up the next day still thinking about the meal and I'm not really a lover of chicken. Well done!

Sylvia L.

Yelp
My first time at Melange. I was attending an event and stumbled across this inviting restaurant within the hotel. The atmosphere was very welcoming, restaurant and bar area were nicely decorated, and clean. Menu had a variety of food and staff were very attentive and friendly. I had a few questions on suggestions from the menu and Erik helped pick the perfect dishes to start me off. I especially loved the sweet shrimp! A great spot to wind down, work on your tablet, or to just enjoy a delicious meal.

Yelp
I stayed in the hotel for a number of nights and really wanted to make this my go-to restaurant. But it was so inconsistent that I just couldn't justify the cost to myself. Breakfast: - The standard "American-style" breakfast is fine. It's just that it isn't better than an included breakfast at lower-tier Marriott property. Cute little Bonne Mama jam jars should probably not be the highlight, right? BTW, subbing tofu (featured in the Japanese breakfast) is a sadly bad idea. I just comes cold, unevenly cut, and plopped in a bowl. Gee thanks. - The Japanese-style breakfast is your week's salt intake in a meal. But! Much better than the above. - English muffin (both times): In general - but especially if you're going to charge me $6 for a single split muffin - please have the decency to serve it to me warm. The butter was not refrigerator-cold and. yet it did not melt a bit. I had to ask them to warm it... and then it was hard, but I just couldn't be bothered again. Lunch: Ahi salad. That tuna is cut so thin to make it around the bowl that you can almost see through it! Dinner: The ube cheesecake is the highlight. The rack of lamb was cooked and presented nicely. But the potato side was terrible. It just about spoke to me and said, "I am the leftover from a big conference dinner." Too bad it brought down the delight level of the dish. Waitstaff: I love this hotel in general. They are amazing people. But, the waitstaff of the restaurant is really checked out. There is a difference between allowing people space to enjoy and being neglectful. 100% neglectful. No thanks.

Yelp
Came here cause a friend chose this place to eat brunch. It's in a hotel called le meridian. Very clean and very calm feel. The food was very well portioned. Enough to get you full and happy but won't overload you . Our server Rachel was exceptionally awesome with a really good sense of humor. I could not ask for a better person. If you get her as a server, you are one lucky person that day. All in all, very good experience.

Evan M.

Yelp
Great ambience in the Le Meridian hotel. Parking is unfortunately only Valet; can consider parking streets or nearby neighborhood/park Came for brunch and they had a lot of great options- had Asian inspired dishes (mainly Japanese). Their food was good overall and did not disappoint. Their yuzu ricotta pancakes were fluffy and flavorful. We liked their Croque madame was okay. We did like their Japanese sandwich trio, which was our favorite of the three. A little pricey though but given location it's fair. Our service stood out. I feel like for special events/birthdays, a lot of places forget the simple courtesies and kindness, and our waitress made sure my wife felt special for her birthday. Service was 10/10, and with nice ambience, and solid food. Would come back

Yelp
It's beautiful inside with beautiful decor but the service is horrible. We were the only table in the restaurant at 12:45 on a Saturday and we waited over twenty minutes for two cocktails. We ordered an appetizer that we would have loved to enjoy before our meal but they brought out with the food. All the employees except the man in front were semi rude and we sat without anyone checking on us for long periods of time. The food was mediocre at best with the tartar being flavorless and not fresh. The only good things were the twenty min cocktails. We would never return here.

Ashley P.

Yelp
Came here on Valentines Day with reservations at 7, was seated at 7:45 and received a salad (after complaining) at 8:40. I never leave reviews but after we finally were eating hours after our reservation the steak was cold, and the sides were cold and bland. We honestly didn't even finish we had to hunt someone down to get our check so we could finally leave. This was like a 300 dollar check, which is just obscene for the service and food we received. The kicker was that we were supposed to get a rose with our meal and I just realized I didn't even get my rose :( I'm not even full, I'm so sad.

Yelp
I celebrated a friends birthday by taking her to experience the Mid-Autumn Festival themed brunch/afternoon tea here, and we had so much fun shooting the place & food. Located inside the beautiful Le Meridian, the brunch couches at elegant and stylish. The service was almost as impeccable as the atmosphere, with a very nice server who just didn't come around often enough after all the food arrived when I needed extra napkins (my phone was sticky) or to get the check, but good thing we did have plenty of time that afternoon. The food presentation was a work of art; each dish showcased with intricate designs and vibrant colors. The afternoon tea selection from mooncakes to seasonal pastries were pretty, but majority are misses in taste. The crudo, lobster rolls, charcuterie, and chicken and waffles were all stunning but did not blow my mind in taste. They were better than the afternoon tea treats, just not super special besides being very grammable. I think the aromatic teas to the pancake, butterscotch pudding, matcha cake pastries really take the cake and redeems the taste department. I still had a nice time from ambiance and having quality time with a good friend. We did order a whole spread and I spent about $400 for everything, just know you're mostly paying for aesthetics. It's between a 3-4 star overall for me between presentation VS taste.

Yelp
What a great little restaurant. My GF and I were out of town staying at the hotel and was happy to find this gem inside. Everything was topnotch. Service was great and very pleasant answering any questions we had about the food or drinks. Food was amazing i forget what mine was called but i do remember it had duck in it. It was a delightful dish. The ambiance is very nice really appreciated the decor and lighting. I would happily recommend this place to any one that is looking for a classy hotel restaurant experience.

Yelp
Not a destination for foodies. It's about average for a hotel restaurant - on par with The Hilton in San Gabriel. If you're staying there it's possible, but it's not a destination. We had the crustini, lamb chops, ribeye, and mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts on the side. Crustini: ok, but not worth $4 a piece for toast and a piece of cheese with a piece of fruit on top with a few greens. Meh at best. Lamb chops: looked good, but no flavor. Ribeye: was drowning in sauce and the meat, while tender, was Choice at best. Mash: was decent. Brussel sprouts: Salty! Ambience was ok for upper mid-level hotel - on par with Hilton. Service was friendly, but definitely not fine dining or anything. Nothing bad - on par. The food was better at Craft (at the mall) down the street, and at a lower price point. Just my honest opinion.

Irene H.

Yelp
I had such an amazing experience here at their tea time. Lisa and Erik (the manager) were so much fun helping us for our first high tea experience. This place is a hidden gem inside the La Meridian Hotel. Definitely try the tea & tower set, champagne, and also the Salmon Crispy Rice. Heard they also host movie nights here, so I'll be back!

Margarita M.

Yelp
We was there for brunch. Valet parking free for 3 hours and the restaurant located in a nice hotel. I ordered Traditional Japanese Breakfast. It comes with salmon, rice, miso soup, pickles, and cold tofu. I personally like it. The rest of us ordered American breakfast and it was ok. Maybe next time we can try their dinner or high tea. The service also very nice. Overall it's a beautiful restaurant and feels a bit fancy.

Akiko I.

Yelp
- Locale Destination - Ambiance: Modern chic. Beautifully designed. Menu: American with some Japanese. Price: not that bad for hotel restaurant - especially for the big portion. Service: attentive Parking: valet only - Gluttony Expedition - Yuzu ricotta pancake: great citrus flavors, but the texture was a bit powdery or crumbly instead of smooth. Ricotta cheese on top. Except for the texture, the flavors were great! Karaage waffle: good Japanese-style fried chicken, waffle was nothing special. Açaí bowl: great but too big portion! Tea: great quality. I had oolong caramel: sweet (without adding sugar) and good and camomile. Coffee: great drip. - Conqueror's Deduction - Great taste quality - especially for a hotel dining. It's just too big portion. Surprisingly not bad!!

Sally M.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service, and lovely decor. Came here for dinner with the family and everything was wonderful. Location: inside the hotel

Lod K.

Yelp
Came for dinner. Nearly empty restaurant. Asked if the beet & burrata salad had a lot of arugula b/c I wanted the greens. "Yes". Our order of a soup, burger and salad took 45 min. Salad came with spring mix, no arugula. When I asked about the arugula, server said "we're serving it with mixed greens", do you have arugula? "No". The menu clearly says arugula.

Valerie J.

Yelp
Holy. Cow. Single handedly one of the worst dining experiences ever. First sign that this would be a terrible lunch was when we stood the hostess table for about 5 minutes without anyone coming. But once she did arrive, we were given a great booth table with coloring for the kids. We got our waters quickly and the server took our orders. The server said this is a nice pre-Mother's Day brunch! I ordered the pancakes, hubs ordered the salmon plate, and of course the kiddo got the Japanese bento breakfast. We also ordered 2 coffees. The coffee arrived almost immediately. Then we waited. & waited. & waited. I noticed the people who were seated before us also waited a while. But hope was on the horizon when I saw the 2 parties before us get their food. But ours still didn't come. My son kept saying he was hungry, and my 3 year old was growing impatient and I didn't blame her. My husband kept trying to get the attention of an employee, but once he held his hand in the air, they all seemed to turn the other way. It made us wonder if they were purposely not making eye contact with us. After waiting a minimum of 45 minutes, we saw the party who arrived AFTER us get served their food. Luckily, this party was near us so my husband was finally able to tell another server that we arrived before them and still missing our food. The server immediately responded "they're just waiting on the Japanese bento box." What's in the bento? Salmon, rice, miso soup, pickles. Did the kitchen forget to thaw the salmon? I found it astonishing that during our wait, we were completely uninformed about what was going on. If there was an issue with the bento, let us know. Tell us it's going to take longer and/or ask us if we'd like to order another item on the menu. Apologize for the wait and maybe offer if we'd like some more coffee while we wait? Absolutely horrible customer service. When the food did arrive, our server apologized for the wait. It seemed out of left field since during the course of our wait, he never came over to acknowledge that it was taking a long time. We finished our food, which by the way was good. Jonah loved the bento box and finished everything except the rice. I didn't see the check, but I believe the server apologized to my husband for the wait and gave 20% off and did not charge us for the coffees. Again, it was a gesture that surprised us because the server seemingly ignored us the whole time and then gave us a discount to make up for it?? Odd. I assume that there were some big issues in the kitchen. Understaffed with maybe frozen fish? I'll never know. But transparency goes a long way in customer service. No matter how good I thought the food was, this experience was an utter disaster. I would not return and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Yelp
Melange has a modern yet beautiful environment, with a calming atmosphere. The waiters are quite friendly and patient, taking the time to serve delicious food with a professional attitude. My friends and family enjoyed the scrumptious brunch presented to us, savory yet sweet. We will most willingly return!

Nelson H.

Yelp
Very nice design contemporary dining room and besides the longitude bar. Great atmosphere for leisure and resort area! Services were excellent and it's slow on Sunday late afternoon and early dinner time! Foods were alright and right on average, dessert were so great, tasty and delicious! Tiramisu and chocolate cake weren't too sweet!! The mango lemonade was so attractive and fruity!! But the main courses of steak were a bit too salty and the roasted chicken wasn't impressive at all. One of the baked potatoes was being garnished too much green onions.... Hope the chefs pay more attention in the future and easy on ingredients....

Kathy V.

Yelp
We loved melange at the Le Meridien in Pasadena, CA!! Eddie was the most exceptional server! He was very friendly and accommodated our special requests. The food (breakfast) was amazing!!

Nicole D.

Yelp
If you're looking for a spot that has a little of something for everyone, this is your place. Food wasn't anything crazy but still good. The place is nice and quiet as well

Shal J.

Yelp
Weekdays are for brunch if you let it! I loved the brunch here. I met a childhood bestie at this location and we needed to cry and laugh and let our guards down. Classic girl chit chat. Service was attentive and prompt. The croissants to-go were buttery soft and crunchy at first bite. I would try their avocado toast if savory items are more your style. Nice inside nook of Le Meridian hotel. I loved the booth seating and decor that felt I like was in upscale New York!

Margie P.

Yelp
I visited Melange recently for their high tea. I recommend it to my boss for a work team gathering because my great experiences in the past and it once again exceeded my expectations. The manager Erik ensured we had everything we needed and then some. He and Lisa our server was attentive and prompt. We never had to ask for anything, they anticipated all our needs and the food was AMAZING! Needless to say my boss was impressed. Thank you Erik and Lisa for the wonderful hospitality!!

Elaine W.

Yelp
Erik the manager at melange and Lisa one of our servers, did a great job serving our large group during high tea! The service and attention to detail was amazing in addition to the food. We all had a wonderful and memorable experience. I Definitely will be returning with my family!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Review for High Tea: Service was great, nothing to complain about. That's what contributed to 2 stars. The food however was truly subpar. It was pretty astonishing how bad it was. Several pieces of food were laid out directly on a wooden tray without anything layered under - not very hygienic. The tray is obviously a porous material so it's not sterile. Not a single piece of food was made fresh on order and everything was overcooked, hard, either bland or salty and cold to taste. The desserts seem store bought and not made in house either. I'm shocked they offer this, and at $68 per person before 21% service charge. We also waited 25 min before the food was brought out. Makes no sense considering nothing was cooked, it was obviously just assembled on the spot. Absolutely terrible and never coming back.

Mara A.

Yelp
Had an amazing experience there. Erik was the best and made sure my party and I had an amazing time!

Kelvin M.

Yelp
My experience here was amazing! Erik took care of my party and I very well. The tea here was delicious and the little treats were a perfect complement!

Kelly L.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a friend's bday. We wanted to try somewhere new for a nice high tea, and unfortunately this was very disappointing. The setting is very nice because it's a nice new hotel, not many people there at all, but I guess I can see why. The tea selection is standard...but the food was so disappointing l! For $80 you would expect some house made scones, instead we got some flat, cold store bought scones, not fluffy or flavorful. The savory dishes were soy sauce chicken, lamb chops and yellowtail- weird assortment. They were not warm and on the drier side like they had been prepared and reheated from the night before. I didn't care for any of the desserts! There were overly sweet like supermarket package desserts, nothing tasted fresh and handmade. I guess they were going for Asian fusion tea but it fell short, there's so many great Asian bakeries around the area they could've gotten the desserts from... Sadly would NOT recommend this place at all! Would rather go to an Asian bakery and tea shop to buy and make my own high tea.

DeeDee C.

Yelp
The first thing I want to mention is how amazing the staff in this restaurant is. They are extremely attentive and very knowledgeable regarding the food and drinks they serve. The Esquite, which is something I'm used to eating regular as a Mexican woman, was elevated and was so delicious. It had a lemon taste to it, and they tossed the corn in the mayonnaise before putting it in the bowl. They added some delicious cheese, and the hot cheetos on top complimented the corn very well. I drank a sweet treat, which reminded me of a chocolate Buzz Ball. I loved having dinner there so much. My boyfriend and I decided to have breakfast there too. For breakfast, I got the ricotta pancakes with another ingredient that I can not remember, but they were so Fluffy, savory, and refreshing. The butter was presented adorably. I do wish they gave more syrup, but that's just because I love a lot of syrup. Their orange juice was so delicious, too, and tasted freshly squeezed. It was a bit expensive as the dinner was roughly over $90 for 2 of us, and the breakfast was $65 for 2 of us. The price is well worth it, though.

Yelp
This was the WORST afternoon tea I've ever been too! Is it me but fish for afternoon tea?!! I mean I can understand tuna tea sandwiches. But I smelled their fish from a mile away. And you know what they say about smelly fish, it AINT fresh! I was so hungry that I ate it, midway I regretted it. Anyways their savory offerings reminded me of leftover appetizers from their main restaurant. Dessert offerings were nasty!! Only thing remotely edible was their scones even that was mediocre. Their afternoon tea menu is a hot busy mess, so hard to understand as well. At $80 a person plus a 18% service charge AND a CA tourism assessment, like Van said "we're locals" lmao! Not worth!, could have ate a bomb ass steak from Ruth Chris at that cost. Afternoon tea meet Asian fusion, is not it and not for me! This place is so bad I didn't even care to get my 2 free macarons with yelp check in.

Yelp
Hidden gem in 626 A rarity to find fine dining in 626. Melange is after this market with its high ceiling decor and restaurant and bar. I came to try their Easter prix fixe menu. Great service met with high quality dishes. Their chef is Japanese and the Japanese influence can be seen in the dishes. Each dish was beautifully plated and aesthetically pleasing. Can taste their quality. The Easter event had a photo booth and Easter Bunny/egg hunt. We came too late for the egg hunt but managed to get some pics with the Easter bunny. Cherry on top was running into Mr. Terry Crews. As for the decor, I absolutely loved the layout of the entire hotel lobby. Great full bar with a nice outdoor area. I was pleasantly surprised as it doesn't feel like I'm in 626 at all. Their designer did a great job with the landscaping. Looking forward to try their extensive menu and grabbing a drink at their bar.

Yelp
A dose of sugar high to start the day... Recommended: Banana French Toast Rolls: so much Nutella inside the rolls and under the rolls (plating wise), lots of fresh berries. Banana with syrup glazed. French toast rolls were fluffy, powdered sugar. Banana inside and outside. Yep, total sugar high item. Blah: Chicken karaage and waffle: karaage - it's not crunchy out and it's not juicy in .. it was just sad overall. Waffle is basic, not Belgian waffle like it claims on the menu. Dish looks pretty than it tastes.

Ves S.

Yelp
We came for afternoon tea. Great service and decor! Currently 20% off and free valet through the end of August 2022. We got attentive service from Shereen. The teas and food were explained and refilled and stopped by often to check up on us. The seating area is nice and the decor is well apportion. You can tell they really put effort to making a comfortable experience for the level. The hamachi and lamb were delicious. We were hoping for more savory choices. Scones were also delectable with a subtle taste complementing the texture. However portion sizes were small, especially for this price point and tier.

Aileen H.

Yelp
I decided to come here for Chinese New Year Afternoon Tea. It was $95 per person plus 18% service charge. We had 4 people and I made a reservation online two weeks in advance. I thought the food was creative and delicious . The decor was modern and clean. Our servers were attentive and patient. There is valet parking only but it's complimentary for 3 hours with validation. The restaurant is located in the new Le Meridian that opened June of 2021 in Arcadia.

Parking: it's pretty confusing when you arrive because there's only a sign for valet but self parking is totally available and it's free for 3 hours. Front staff: kind of rude here. When we arrived, the girl at the front was on the phone and she made no attempt to even acknowledge us. Customer service should have said please hold or at least service those in front of you rather than prioritize those on the call?? Next another man tries to help to no avail with find our reservation which was made on open table, next finally a manger came up and started chatting with the girl and later walked away, finally she decided to proceeded to assist us. They can definitely use training here. Food: I was expecting better given the price but overall everything was pretty good. We had the steak (best), octopus, seafood risotto, fish, and dessert (tarts). Our Server: probably the highlight of the dinner since he was super helpful, informative and friendly! 5 starts to him! Good to try but I would just come back for the bar.

Yelp
Afternoon tea review: so it looks like $75 (total with gratuity) is the new normal. The ambiance is nice here. And the food is fine, nothing extraordinary or "asian fusion" except the green tea macaroon but tastes what it should taste. No cake or sandwich dry. Everything tastes good. Pretty traditional stuff. But no cucumber sandwich. And NO CLOTTED CREAM! Service is kinda lacking but one might like that if you want to catch up with friends and not be interrupted by service. I actually would walk to the server to get more hot water lol. But a good place to bring local friends/relatives together to catch up and do something different than dim sum, or a home gathering.

Yelp
Came here after my stay at the Le Meridian Pasadena Arcadia and it really ended the visit nicely. Fantastic setup with the table settings, jams, and hot sauce. The food was fantastic. I got the chicken and waffles. They use a japanese chicken that had a very rich taste to it--highly recommended. The white sangria was pretty great as well. I only wish it was a larger carafe. Definitely check out their brunch if you're in the area.

Yelp
Melange had a nice cozy spot in my bookmarks until last night, when we came to celebrate the beginning of a new chapter (gf's new job, if you're so curious). Things didn't start off too smoothly. 6:30pm on a Saturday, the restaurant was slow, and so was the host and staff. Perhaps the pandemic has thrown a wrench in their plans, who knows. The host was off somewhere helping another table so a server came to greet us. He couldn't find any more menus so we were sat with just one. No biggie. Once seated, it took a bit for our server to come help us. Though I promise you, that was the end of our worries. Our server was amazing and super patient in introducing us to the restaurant and their menu. Let's get into the MEAT (~oOoh foreshadowing~) of the review, shall we? For starters, we ordered the beet "sunomono" which was just beets (LOL), but bravo for the attempt at sticking with their fusion theme. Jokes aside, it was fresh, tasty, and a great start to the meal. For the mains, we ordered the ribeye steak (medium rare, duh) and saikyo chilean sea bass, with a side of potato gratin and crispy tofu. Unfortunately, the steak came out cooked medium to medium well. Not one to waste food, we accepted it and we still enjoyed it. The STAR OF THE NIGHT was the Saikyo Chilean Sea Bass. OMG the fish was fresh and so tender. Coupled with the sauce, 100/10, chef's kiss. Highly highly recommended. The potato gratin was alright, nothing to write about. The crispy tofu was good, reminiscent of your HK cafe's fried tofu w/ chopped peppers, etc. Back to our server. She was amazing and her service was definitely one of the highlights of the night. She was patient and enthusiastic and took care of us well, although it seemed as if she was stretched thin between her and two other servers. Would come again if only for the chilean sea bass. I'm drooling just thinking about it. Yelp 2022 Adventures: 3 of ??

Yelp
The quality of food was amazing and ambience is very nice. The service wasn't bad. The facility is pristine, clean, and new. We ordered the avocado, toast, chicken, and waffles, and a latte!

Yelp
Poor service with dirty tables. The employees here don't seem to enjoy their job - it shows. 30 minutes and still waiting to eat.

Yelp
I recently went for a weekend lunch with my family. The only parking is valet which they can validate for you. The service was decent for the most part. Food looked great and was very delicious, but that is probably the only positive thing about this place. We waited quite a while for our drinks to come. Then even much longer for our dishes. I found myself constantly looking around for our server to ask for things. Keep in mind the restaurant was not that busy at that time. Additionally, the soup in one of our orders was served to us completely cold. And as we finally got our bill and paid, the server didn't even bother saying goodbye or thank you. I don't think I would come back to this place even though the food was good. Not a pleasant experience overall.

Yelp
The food was very good, but it was not, to me, custom. So kind of status quo. I would go back. Price was right.

Yelp
Nice place to take out-of-town guests for a pleasant location and classy surroundings. Most of the people dining for breakfast seemed to be hotel guests including several families. I had to reject the table offered to me and my cousin as there were several others in more prominent places with better lighting. The avocado toast was satisfying with a generous serving of the creamy green fruit on nutty nutritious bread, but the coffee was a tad cold. I had to ask for a new pot. Service can be sluggish. Overall the location and surroundings make it a fine unexpected choice. I'd go again. I'd like to try the high tea next door, too.

Yelp
It's more like a 3.5. Some of the stuff were definitely very enjoyable and some of the stuff just fell short. I would say for the most part, the service is pretty slow which I expect them to improve later on. I'm not complaining about it cause they know it themselves and they gave us desserts on the table. So at least they know some of their problems but I'll mention it anyway. The appetizers came and it took another 40+ mins for the entrees to come. We had dinner for a bit more than 3+ hours(which you're validated for 3 hours lol). We got the ribs, octopus, and crispy quail. The ribs being the worst out of everything we had and I thought the dinner was gonna be a disaster cause that was my first bite. Highly don't recommend the ribs. The octopus were ok, I thought it was a little sweet but the taste wise it was ok. I really like the crispy quail. I never had a crispy quail before and I just thought this appetizer really worked out(would get it again). The entrees(they ran out of scallop + uni which was a big shame) we got were crispy hirame with truffle sauce, seabass, duck to replace the scallop, filet mignon, new york, short skirt, and bouillabaisse . I would honestly say that all the meat(more so beef) fell short. The one with the peppercorn sauce was the worst by far cause it just overwhelms the meat entirely. The other two were standard, while one comes with creamy risotto and the other one came with wasabi mash potato. Nothing special but none of the 3, I would get it again. So my conclusion was that the seafood is better here. Although the bouillabaisse was really rich in flavor, is it really a bouillabaisse if it's not an actual soup? I guess it's more of a stew...but like I definitely it needed more soup to the ingredients ratio. Still pretty good though. I would say that although we didnt plan to order the duck, I like the duck quite a bit. It's a fusion of the hk style duck with almost like a french twist to it. While the duck is a bit crispy, it has a nice cherry sauce that goes well with it. I actually quite like it. The seabass was delicious. I believe the suave it and that made this seabass not as oily as how it should be. I highly recommend it. As for my hirame which was the winner for me, I love the crispiness to it. Not only was it fried to perfection but the truffle sauce was just excellent. I love it a lot. Didn't care for the cilantro soy sauce...it's really just soy sauce lol. I love the cilantro on the side(cause im a cilantro sucker). The desserts were ok. I like the pecan? tart a lot. there were a few that we wanted to get more but they ran out... the chocolate cake was pretty standard...and I don't exactly care for matcha but the matcha cheesecake is ok. If you're a matcha fan, maybe you'll enjoy it a lot more than me. I thought it was ok. I would consider coming back. Hope to see their service speed up as they get more experience.

Yelp
My godsis and I have a tradition of treating ourselves to our own birthday dinners and this year, we decided on Melange. It was interesting to find out that Chef Makoto Tanaka decided to open an upscale restaurant in a newly built boutique hotel in a city like Arcadia but hey, it worked out for us. Better than us trying to navigate our way through LA traffic on a Saturday night. Made our reservations for 2 on OpenTable as soon as that one Eater LA article came out! Lemme start by giving a HUGE s/o to our server, Erik, for being amazing and charismatic throughout the entire night. He was constantly checking in to see if we are enjoying ourselves and asked for our opinions on any changes that need to be made in regards to each of the dishes we ordered. I'm glad that because it's a new establishment, everyone's trying to gather input from their patrons to ensure that it's here to stay. Our drinks were fantastic. My sis had the Break Maiden (vodka) and I had the Theodora (gin). Erik also recommended this mango popsicle + white wine concoction that was absolutely delicious and refreshing - really reminded us of a yummy bellini. Foodwise this was what we ordered - yellowtail crudo (4/5 can't really go wrong with this but no wow factor), crispy quail (5/5 for tenderness and crispiness), Saikyo Chilean sea bass (4/5 flaky, seasoned well, but still kinda just reminded me of the whole steamed fish at Chinese restaurants), braised short ribs (5/5 meat was flavorful and cooked to perfection, ORZO WAS TO DIE FOR), lamb chops (5/5 not gamey at all, addicting basil aioli sauce) and crispy brussel sprouts (3/5 good but we've had better, cute presentation with a mini Le Creuset pot). All in all, 10/10 will come back. P.S. the hotel, Le Meridien Pasadena Arcadia, is valet only and it's $10 with validation.

Yelp
Who would have ever thought I'd find a restaurant like Melange in Arcadia? Needless to say, it was truly a gem and everything about it was spectacular. The restaurant is located in the brand new hotel and only offers valet parking, but make sure to validate so your first 2 hours is $10. Between my godsis and I, we probably ordered half the menu... but who can say no to so many enticing choices? The food gorgeous, but it tasted even better than it looked! The drinks were also delicious and I definitely recommend their drinks under house expression. All the drinks we tried during the night were great! The two of us shared the yellowtail crudo, fried quail, sea bass, braised short ribs, lamb chops, with a side of brussels. The hits of the night were definitely the braised short ribs and the lamp chops. The orzo that came with the short ribs were cheesy and cooked to absolute perfection. A bite of the daikon with the orzo and short rib was PERFECTION! The lamb chops were tender and not gamey at all, but the basil aioli tied everything together. Everything from the location, drinks, food, and service was just 5/5 for me. Our server Erik went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and provided lots of great suggestions! 10/10 coming back and bringing more friends. :)

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, good food, friendly service & free 3hr valet parking with validation. We came here for dinner to celebrate my daughters bday & our anniversary. They were very generous & gave us 2 free desserts: macadamia tart with chocolate ice cream & 3 scoops of gelato. Our favorite was the passion fruit gelato. Every dish we ordered was tasty: yellowtail crudo, grilled prawns, broccolini carrot mushroom & our absolute favorite was the crab salad & the Saikyo Chilean Sea Bass. We also enjoyed our non-alcoholic drinks: pomegranate drink & lavender lemonade. It's a great place to celebrate a special occasion. Next time we visit we'll check out the bar restaurant across the way.
