Amazing local eatery with incredible made from scratch meals! My wife and I were arriving in town around lunchtime and decided to head for downtown Boone. My wife found Melanie’s and we liked the menu options. It exceeded our expectations. Food was excellent, staff were friendly, restaurant was super cute, AND the food came out quick! Absolutely a place we will revisit next time we’re in town! This is what we ordered: Bacon avocado Benedict Eggs Florentine

They kept us waiting for 20 minutes even though the restaurant was empty. The host was not super welcoming and a bit rude. We had a couple of dishes with poached eggs that were completely overcooked. The rest of food was ok...but they ruined the experience with poor service

Wonderful food. The first time in a long time that everybody in my family absolutely loved their meal. The music is a little loud, but nothing compared to how great the food is.

The place was packed but we got lucky and were seated quickly. Our server Carson took our order. He was such a sweetie. It took about 40 minutes for our food, but that might be on us since it was Easter Sunday close to noon. We ordered brunch. A Multigrain Pecan waffle and sausage for me. I wiped the plate clean. My partner ordered eggs with toast, apple butter, bacon and hashbrowns. He said it was great. The place is fun eclectic and the crowd is mixed young and old (like us). The servers were super nice and booking. Melanie's is definitely a return trip!

Stopped at Melanie’s for breakfast this morning! There was a 10-15 minute wait, but once seated, we had quick service. Indoor and outdoor seating available. I had the Melanie’s Pecan Waffle and my husband had the Avocado Bacon Benedict. Both were great!

An easy Sunday morning breakfast while exploring the blue ridge mountains! On a whim, stopped here during an early morning drive and very happy with the choice. The food was light yet fulfilling. The pancakes were that perfect blend of crispy and soft goodness. Fresh eggs plus orange juice and my stomach was happy and ready for the day’s adventures!

This is our favorite place to eat when in Boone. That's high praise because there are many other places that are also wonderful, but this is our tops. That tempeh scramble is one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten - and I'm not even vegetarian. Their omelettes are scrumptious as well. I don't know what the deal is with their egg dishes, but they are about the best I've had anywhere. Service and vibe are wonderful as well and the prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
My daughter and I stopped at Melanie's for lunch on our way back home from spending the weekend at Beech Mountain. I went to App, way before Melanie's time, but I've been wanting to try it since it opened because I've heard good things about it over the years. However, it seems whenever I'm in the area, the wait to get is crazy long. But we lucked out on this particular Sunday, last weekend. We were told there would be a 45-minute wait, but I ended up getting the text after just about 15 minutes of wasting some time buying candy at Mast General Store. The host was super friendly, and we were seated inside. It's a cozy space, but bright and cheerful. My thirteen-year-old daughter commented on how all of the furnishings were mismatched and how much she loved that. I agree. Our server was super friendly as well, and really stayed on top of things despite the busyness. My daughter and I had the exact same thing--a burger. We both chose the house made pimento cheese for our cheese option and the garlic aioli. The burger also had house made pickles on it that were to die for. The beef itself was grassfed, and the burger was just delicious, sandwiched between "Melanie's bread," which I could tell was deliciously homemade. I will definitely know the place is worth the wait if (no...when!!) we return. Next time, I want to try the breakfast food!

Yelp
This is our fav breakfast spot in the area for 15 years. Food and service are always excellent and we love the casual vibe. I can't say enough good things about Melanie's!

Michele E.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Very friendly service and the food was fresh, hot and delicious. Our group had a variety of things and everything was outstanding!

Yelp
Decided to check this place out while on a trip. And I have to say, do NOT go here. We arrived minutes after it opened at 8am. A two-top was seated ahead of us and then we were sat outside. The earlier two top was visited by a waitress who brought waters. She left and then came back to them to get their coffee order. We continue to sit. A family of 6 was sat and then visited by a different waitress who brought them waters. We continued to sit. No waters, or even knowing who our waiter or waitress was. An older couple walked from the other side and flagged down a waiter who then sit them outside. This waiter then visited their table 3 times, for water, drinks, and their order. This waiter looked at us but didn't come. We clearly are sitting there with menus. I went up to the hostess and said we are ready to order but haven't been visited yet (it's been 20 minutes at this point). She says "I'll find out." A few minutes later she comes and says sorry your waitress got busy inside with a big table. I'm sorry, there are 3 different wait staff people helping outside, and we are assigned someone on the inside and we haven't even received waters yet?? And the other waiters are looking at us but doing nothing? And those waiters have visited their tables multiple times and ours is busy inside? Yelp has made me an "elite" and I visit and review places regularly, and let me tell you - this was bad. We got up and left. Do not go here.

Yelp
Our server was so nice and polite! The food was AMAZING! We got the stuffed French toast and truckers breakfast. Definitely recommend!!

Yelp
A great place to have brunch when in Boone. The decor and ambiance of this corner restaurant is perfect and cozy. It is decorated beautifully with plants as well as having outside seating under shaded trees. The food is tasty and prepared quick. The greek omelet was my favorite. The two times I have been here the fruit has always been fresh nothing-less. Our service was also great as we were seated earlier than expected.

Barbara G.

Yelp
Friendly and welcoming! Good breakfast and mimosas on a nice outdoor sitting area on Main Street. We had the two breakfast specials.

Jennifer E.

Yelp
We had to wait, but it was worth it. I highly recommend Melanie's! The staff was so friendly, service was great and the food was great. I highly recommend it.

Mary K.

Yelp
Very small and quaint dining establishment. It had its own rustic charm with the mismatched coffee mugs and napkins. However it fit with the vibes. The staff was nice and friendly and we were sat almost immediately. The food was okay. The biscuits were kind of grainy and had a weird texture to them. Also my food was kind of cold. The home fries were soggy and had no crisp to them. My husband did like his soft scrambled eggs though. The fruit was also fresh.

Leah R.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely amazing! The servers are always kind and so helpful! Food tastes great and locally sourced which is even better! The granola bowl is a huge hit with my mom and I and we always leave feeling so refreshed and relaxed because the vibe is so relaxed and slow paced! Absolutely delight!

Rusty F.

Yelp
Best chicken salad I've ever had! Great atmosphere with a nice outside area. Mason is awesome! She is on point and right there when you need her :-) Service overall is fantastic!

Don B.

Yelp
$$$ Yes we went and had two omelets at $15/, I had the Mexican and she had the Greek. They were good but.as you cane see, expensive. You just .can't do that much with eggs to make them worth that much. Ambiance was nothing special and our service was less than special. We had the manger Rebecca serving us and she was spread too thin. I basically told Abigale that I wish she was our server, she had a nice comeback, come again tomorrow and ask for me. The reason was the tables on either side of us came in after us and Abigale had waited on them before our server showed. So All in all a good place but beware, not reasonable. Oh, another peeve of mine, they tip on the tax too???

Kim G.

Yelp
We visited mid July around noon time. While there was no wait, this place definitely didn't live up to the hype. My soup was cold and my sandwich was mediocre. Although we weren't greeted at the entrance our waitress was friendly and. nice. My teen son said his meal of pimento grits was "meh".

Robert V.

Yelp
Outstanding eatery in the heart of Boone. An interesting menu that does a successful job of presenting vegetarian and non-vegetarian takes on their dishes. The food was very good and the staff very friendly.

Evangeline L.

Yelp
Got the tempeh scramble and greens and grits. I was not a fan of the tempeh, but that's a personal choice. They were kind and replaced my meal, so the service was great. The apple butter was yummy with the toast though. Overall a great location/spot and they accommodated to our large part of 6 without reservations.

Yelp
: ' ---- We are visiting Boone for the next few weeks and decided to check out some of the local restaurants, which landed us on Kings St. for a casual morning. There are a lot of options for breakfast and lunch spots, but we eventually picked this restaurant because of the local reviews and the menu. --- As an experienced traveler, having explored 68 countries and 36 states, I approach restaurant reviews with clear criteria: Taste, Presentation, and Service. My goal is to provide an unbiased perspective, highlighting both strengths and weaknesses. --- The restaurant has both an indoor and outdoor space, providing options to patrons depending on their preferences. Bring some patience. This is a very popular place, for good reason, so be prepared to wait for a table and have a casual, non-rushed lunch. Enjoy time with friends, family, and partners. The food is well worth everything. --- We ordered 3 dishes: Southern Chicken Salad, Bacon Avocado Burger, and Western Omelet. --- Southern Chicken Salad - Made from scratch in-house, it was phenomenal. The perfect mix of flavors with fresh chicken, cranberries, onion nuts, and various spices creates the perfect mix of savory and sweet sitting on top of a bed of greens accompanied by Melanie's famous toast and fruit. --- Bacon Avocado Burger (forgot to take a picture) - with this dish, we substituted the beef patty for a veggie patty, topped with crispy bacon, creamy avocado, lettuce and tomato - rounded off with a garlic and herb aioli and, in this case, goat cheese (optional) to bring together a rich and flavorful experience. The dish was accompanied by Melanie's homefries, which were perfectly seasoned and delicious with every bite. --- Western Omelet - served with a mix of Canadian bacon, onion green peppers, sweet tomatoes, and a sharp cheddar cheese, creating a fluffy egg omelet with rich and creamy flavors - it was well-balanced and delicious with every bite. This was served with Melanie's homemade grits topped with pimento cheese (optional) and a side of Melanie's toast. --- Overall, this was the best brunch spot to kick off a day of shopping and touring around the downtown Boone area!

Yelp
Tasty, welcoming & full of personality. The only downside is that the beautiful biscuit tasted more like cornbread than a buttermilk biscuit. (Also, make sure to plan for a wait and where you're going to go during that wait, if it's during the colder months, as there is no place to wait inside. We went on a Monday for lunch and had an hour wait. Luckily, there is great shopping up and down the street that kept us busy.)

Susan B.

Yelp
A quick stop in for a late breakfast on a Wednesday morning and we ended up with fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice mimosas and bacon and avocado eggs Benedict and a great burger! We sat outside on a beautiful day and enjoyed this fabulous meal. Had to try their house-made biscuit which was so buttery and moist and delicious! There were so many things I wanted to try, but just couldn't obviously. Service was quick and not overbearing. Recommendations were on point. I'll be back when I'm back in Boone!

Wayne G.

Yelp
We had grits and pimiento cheese and the French toast. Both were excellent. The service was outstanding. The entire staff was outstanding. Small inside but they take great care of you. If in Boone you must stop by and experience it.

Julie A.

Yelp
Food: salad and patty melt Service: busy Ambiance: cafe style with patio The salad was the best item we got along with the tea we contemplated on getting another cause it was so good. The patty melt wasn't bad but wasn't mind blowing either. It's in a perfect location and the patio is cute as well

Christina A.

Yelp
The place is really cute and the historic Boone location is perfect, but the service was really slow and a 30 minute wait the food was on par with everything else around, I can't fully recommend Melanie's. My biscuit was huge but the egg-to-biscuit ratio was way off. It was 80% gritty, crumbly biscuit and 20% bacon, egg and cheese combine. My fiancé's breakfast wrap was dry as a bone, though the tortilla was cooked nicely and the fruit was fresh. It's a nice place for a cocktail if you've got a lot of time. And coffee is excellent.

Carlo Y.

Yelp
With my wife used to go to school at App. She told me this is one of her favorite breakfast place to go to. Well after I tired it, it was worth the hype. The food might look normal or nothing special but everything was flavorful. The service was fast and I mean I got another cup of coffee as soon as I just finished. Relax, enjoy your food, have a great conversation, and welcoming are the feeling I got the entire time at the restaurant. Good place.

David K.

Yelp
Good food with amazing service. Menu is as progressive as the super cool people who work there. Perfect vibe for Sunday brunch. Portions are large and the menu diverse. The only reason for leaving off a star is that the eggs Benedict DiVinci was not the best combination of flavors. My fault for getting it but marinated red peppers and artichoke hearts completely overwhelmed the flavors of the dish. The dish came across as trying too hard to be cool and crunchy. Stick to the classics and you will love it.

Daniela T.

Yelp
I really didn't like the food. Overpriced and burned toast . The service is really poor as well. However, it is a nice spot in the outdoor sitting makes it really nice. It has a cute garden ambience.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Yum yum yum!! I got the tempeh scramble and it was good. I especially liked the biscuit and the apple butter. The biscuit was really flaky. I also got grapefruit juice and I was surprised that it was so fresh! It was clear that they squeezed it today. Their menu has a lot of healthy breakfast options, which is nice. For example, they have multigrain pancakes I also liked the decor! The napkins and table clothes are really cute. I love the outdoor area.

Dieter H.

Yelp
Quirky neighborhood place, like the best in Boone on King Street. Went 2x. Mostly student run, good breakfast, very nice service and down to earth setting.

Marty M.

Yelp
I was really hungry. So unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures before I ate it all! I've eaten at Melanie's several times and I have been meaning to get a review posted. What I ate today prompted me to get it done. I had the avocado BLT with a side salad. The sandwich was fabulous! I had the right amount of everything and the bread it was served on was excellent. Plenty of great tasting bacon too. Service has always been good. Today they were very busy and short-staffed so the food came out slow, but it was worth the wait. I've had their quiche several times and besides this sandwich, it's my other favorite. We ate outside on the patio and the pleasant weather made it a great place to be. Next trip, I'll try to pause long enough to take some pictures before it's gone!

Brooke W.

Yelp
Melanie's is always on my list of places to visit when I'm in Boone and it never disappoints. We went on a Saturday morning and it was busy, but we were able to get off the waitlist pretty quickly. The service was great and our waitress was very helpful and friendly. I got the bacon avocado benedict which was pretty good, but definitely lacking a bit of seasoning/flavor in the hollandaise and was a little expensive for what you get. The potatoes were delicious as always! My friend got a breakfast quesadilla which looked amazing and was a pretty big portion size for the price. Will definitely be back on my next trip!

Phoi B.

Yelp
Really cute atmosphere and good food and service! Our waitress, Sam, was attentive and friendly.

DeLito T.

Yelp
A place everyone must try for breakfast when you are in Boone, North Carolina. Small yet cozy, with a variety of breakfast dishes that will make your tummy very satisfied. My family and myself, loved it and we will totally recommend it.

Sporadic W.

Yelp
Went a few years ago on s trip with my buddy and we always talk about this place when we reminisce about our trip. The food is scrumptious!!! No complaints whatsoever. We can't wait to return! Service was fantastic and ambiance was also splendid!! Again can't wait to return!!!

Luke A.

Yelp
Sat outside. One of the best burgers ever with garlic and herb aoli and carmelized onions. Ashley was great and brought water for our dog. Tea was good also. We'll be back.

Abby C.

Yelp
We're out-of-towners and our hotel recommended Melanie's for breakfast. It's the perfect local breakfast restaurant. The food is fantastic and the staff are all very friendly. My husband had the biscuits and gravy and said it was some of the best he's ever had. I had eggs, home fries and toast with apple butter. It was exactly what we needed on a cold snowy morning. And it's just a 2min walk from the hotel. I 100% recommend breakfast at Melanie's.

Michael K.

Yelp
Wow! What an amazing brunch! It's a fun, little place to be. They are some really tasty options beyond the typical ones you'd expect. My kids love the "regular" breakfast foods (pancakes, etc). I like their more inventive dishes. Our server has been fun and friendly both times we've eaten there so far. There aren't many items that are intentionally gluten-free, but I always find something good that works for me (gluten intolerance). One of our favorites in Boone!

Matthew S.

Yelp
Yummy eggs Benedict. Wish it had more sauce on it. Waitress was nice I really liked their version of English muffin they laid it on.

Dan D.

Yelp
Oh man ! What a great breakfast we had ! Greek omelette with home fries so good ! Plus the homemade apple butter our waitress was awesome, she even made me a coffee to go!

Sydney G.

Yelp
The stuffed French toast is always incredible. I would eat it for every meal. The pimento cheese grits were pretty bland. I wouldn't recommend those and wouldn't get it again.

Rebekah B.

Yelp
Three Stars because the egg burrito was really good. However, the hot chocolate was too watery, the Biscuit tasted like it had too much baking soda in it, and make sure that you know that the fruit and yogurt is a fruit bowl with a little bit of yogurt, not yogurt with fruit.

Mario A.

Yelp
Very good breakfast restaurant in Boone. I ordered the Greek omelet with toast and potatoes. The omelet had plenty of cheese and ingredients. I was impressed by the garlic in it- not too strong or weak. Potatoes were decent. Toast is served as a thick wedge with apple butter. My brother had a basic breakfast and approved of the crisp bacon and tasty eggs. He said the biscuit was marginal and it certainly looked that way. Stick to the toast. Coffee and service were excellent. The dining room is tiny, so get there early to avoid a wait.

Jason D.

Yelp
This place is highly rated by locals and tourists alike for a good reason. It is simply the very best place for breakfast in Boone. Don't be daunted by the one hour long line. MFF uses a very progressive and easy to follow app where you can keep track of your virtual place in line and estimate how long until you get a text. As you can see from the photos here, we ordered the house specialty x2 and we're not disappointed. I ordered an extra side of grits and the entire breakfast was absolutely amazing. Take the time to eat here. You will not be disappointed.

Sierra B.

Yelp
The location is really convenient and the atmosphere is really nice - we sat outside on a beautiful day, so can't really speak to the inside. The service was slow and a 3/5. Food was a 2/5 - especially for the price point which is a shame because it looked beautiful! The waffle was chewy and mushy, and the yogurt on top tasted sort of spoiled almost. My daughter wouldn't eat the grilled cheese which is saying something and the coffee was subpar (on the one refill she got me). I really wanted to like this place, but we won't be back.

Sue P.

Yelp
It is a unique restaurant where you just feel good Love their coffee and the food and the place itself!!

Madison P.

Yelp
Now that's a mountain omelette!!! I love everything about this place. The homemade apple butter is as good as mine! Service was excellent. Can't wait to come back.

Zachary B.

Yelp
We brought our friend Madison and our dog Flynn. Food was good but I'm not quite sure it was worth the price. Our dog liked the bacon but I did not. Good riddance good fine fellows, Toodaloo, Thanks

Dawn J.

Yelp
I love this place! You really can't go wrong with anything you order. The service is excellent as well. Just be prepared to wait. It's quite popular.

Carrie B.

Yelp
Good food, attentive service. Tables a bit close together. Ample outdoor seating , charming decor

Sara F.

Yelp
I came here right when they opened in the middle of the week. The service was phenomenal. I was greeted with coffee right after I sat down and I didn't feel like a pest (like how some restaurants make you feel). I felt like my company was genuinely wanted... which is kind of hard to come by. The place was absolutely adorable. I ordered the Stuffed French toast and made no modifications to it, however, I wish I had. Honestly, I don't like fruit that much. And that is a personal problem. If I did like fruit, then this meal would have been next level and I probably would have thought God's heavenly angels prepared it. It had raspberry cream cheese in between the slices. Like are you kidding me... amazing. Culinary geniuses! Nonetheless, it was super yummy and was like a fun and unique breakfast which is so cool.

Monica Y.

Yelp
Went to Melanie's with a friend. Food was delicious and so creative. Definitely recommend!!

Miguel A.

Yelp
Best food we've had in boone so far, everything was great, do not miss coming here, the staff was fast and never let you have an empty glass, the resturant is clean and cozy, 100 percent. We will be back.
