Melia Dubai

"How did it strike you on arrival?Meliá is the first five-star Spanish hotel in the Middle East. Guests are immediately greeted by a dramatic, futuristic lobby decorated with sleek Italian furniture and black marble. You'll have to enter through an underground parking garage, though, which kills some of the romance. Nice. What’s the crowd like? Not surprisingly, many Spanish travelers. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. The classic Meliá Guestroom is awash in shades of taupe and brown with mauve accents that complement the dark wood floors and fluffy throw rugs. There’s not much by way of art, but TVs are hidden behind a sleek mirrored panel. Depending on the room, you might hear music from the downstairs nightclub. South-facing rooms have skyline views. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?Large beds are soft and comfortable. Different pillows are available upon request. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The bathroom is separated from the room by a glass wall (and a curtain). Some rooms have bathtubs but no showers, though most include a separate toilet, shower, and bath. Toiletries are neatly packaged and abundant but aren’t name-brand. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Wifi is free with improved quality and speed. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you. Some rooms are loud, so avoid lower floors if you’re hoping for quiet tranquility. If you're in Dubai for the nightlife, the lobby bar is good for a rousing night out. Chef Sanjeev Kapoor’s Indian restaurant is rightfully popular with guests and locals alike. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Estrellas, the rooftop pool bar and lounge, is a nice surprise. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Rooms are sleek, clean, and modern, and the location is convenient to both the airport and a few other attractions, including Dubai Creek and the old souks. A good value option if you’re not yet ready to splash out." - Laura Ratliff

Meliá Desert Palm (Dubai, UAE) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Another entry on the more sedate end of the Dubai hotel scene, Meliá Desert Palm Dubai lies some twenty miles outside the city center, and trades construction cranes for polo grounds. And if your visit’s purpose allows you to choose the country over the city — well, it’s not much of a choice, to be honest. True to its name, it's an oasis, a sedate resort-style experience with clean-lined modern villas surrounded by gardens, hedges, trees — greener than your average desert experience, that’s for sure." - Tablet Hotels

Elsayed and Ahmed were extremely professional and supportive throughout our stay. David, who warmly welcomed us upon arrival, was exceptional and provided us with all the necessary information. The service was outstanding, and every request we had was promptly attended to in a very efficient manner. Overall, the team was highly cooperative and made our experience truly excellent. This is not the first and certainly not the last. Highly recommended.

The hotel was not at all the reflection of the photos, which suggest a chic, bucolic escape away from the city. The pool, too, does not correspond to the pictures: there are tables and chairs for dining placed right next to it, so guests constantly walk past the pool. It is not particularly pleasant to be dining at the Epicure restaurant while having a view of someone in a swimsuit checking themselves in the window. The pool itself is rectangular and narrow, meaning everyone is lined up along the sides, which makes it far from relaxing. The hotel is not family-friendly and is very impractical to access. While the room was indeed spacious, there are very few rooms overall. The reception was far from welcoming—cold, condescending, and robotic, as if assuming all guests were either extremely wealthy or impersonal. Breakfast is à la carte and of good quality, but not very convenient since there are no pictures to help guide choices, which makes avoiding waste difficult. On a positive note, the housekeeping staff were excellent. However, the palm trees and greenery looked tired and poorly maintained. The facilities in general, including the gym, felt outdated and in need of renovation. Technical issues were also frustrating: although eventually fixed after two days, the television, the remote-controlled blinds, and the complicated light system made evenings in the room stressful rather than relaxing.

It was a nice staycation for us . The rooms were great and the guest service manager was very helpful at every stage to make our stay comfortable and memorable. David gave us a nice tour around the polo club and the large stables with lots of of explanation. The food in Epicure was good with great service although the steak at The grill was below expectations. Overall a great experience .

Thanks to Ahmad, David, the epicure team, and the room cleaner for making this journey memorable. We will definitely come back 😊

The gym is superb — packed with top-quality equipment, far beyond the token treadmill-and-dumbbell setup you find in most hotels. What really makes it special is the view of the stables, where you can watch polo matches and see the horses in action as you train. It’s a one-of-a-kind setting that turns every workout into an experience.

We had an amazing experience at the Melia Hotel Dubai. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The breakfast was delicious with a great variety of fresh options every morning – definitely a highlight of our stay! The rooms were beautifully designed, spacious, and clean. We especially loved the unique touch of having a bathtub right in the room – such a relaxing way to unwind after a day in the city. Highly recommended – we would definitely come back!
