My husband and I had dinner last night with reservations. It was a good 15 to 20 minutes before we even had a glass of water in front of us. Only two servers in the restaurant. After that bump in the road, the rest of the night was wonderful. Melissa was apologetic for the wait and was attentive the rest of the evening. A bit of a noisy crowd. My husband and I shared the dumplings as an app...very nice. The halibut was amazing and my husband said his seafood stew was the best he had ever had. We each enjoyed our wine choices. Overall a great dinner.

This was by far the best piece of swordfish I have had in years. The staff was welcoming informative and helpful. The shrimp ceviche was refreshing and delicious and the cesar salad was elegant before we decimated it. It was amazing but I didn't get a picture before the carnage began.

AMAZING is putting it lightly. I have not had this good of a meal in a very long time. It’s not even “fancy” food and I don’t think that’s what they’re trying to be - just really, REALLY good food. I had the creamy tomato basil soup which was honestly the best I’ve ever had, and the brick chicken which was incredible. We had Melissa as our server which made it all the more special. The ONLY critique I have is that the specials (which are a lot, but a good thing!), should be printed out as a separate menu instead of verbally presented. Maybe it’s just me but I cannot for the life of me remember all of those beautiful specials explained to me and so I resorted to the regular menu. (I did learn that they’re written on the blackboard that was behind me but I didn’t see them). Regardless, this was the most amazing meal I’ve had in a very very long time.

I had the pleasure at dining at Melissa ‘s restaurant for the first time with some friends from our jazzercize group. I had the beet ,walnut , goat cheese and arugula salad ! It was delicious . The ingredients were so fresh and it was plated so pretty ! They also serve this amazing fluffy rolls along with choice of flavored butter and a herb oil . They had nice selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks . I had an after dinner frothy topped coffee and took home a piece of home made carrot cake. The meal I thought was reasonable but the dessert was on the pricey side. It was still a nice treat !! The staff was very professional and friendly . I look forward to going back and taking my husband .

My fiance and I (finally) got the chance to eat dinner at Melissa's. The food was delicious! We got specials all around... a trout dip for an appetizer and for entrees Salmon/Swordfish Fish Cakes and Lobster Ravioli. Normally I shy away from ordering ravioli out because I never feel like you get enough food. The portions were great and we left stuffed! Which was a shame since we didn't have any room to try dessert. :) Our service was also amazing -- it was a Monday night in the off season (so they had one waitress manning the whole place), but we never felt like we had to wait to get her attention. I'd highly recommend for a nice date night!

Great new restaurant! A much needed delicious addition to the local food scene here. Quaint, well decorated and incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Win/win on all fronts. I highly recommend giving Melissa's a try and don't miss the snowflake rolls with the two choices to spread or dip it in. Either infused butter or herbed olive oil, both delicious!

Shhhh! Don't let anyone else know about this neighborhood gem so we can keep getting reservations...seriously though, this restaurant is a great addition to our town. Bravo Melissa for bringing wonderfully creative and fresh dinner and drink options to us locals. As long as we can always get a table I have no qualms about letting the world know about how good it is.

Phenomenal food and atmosphere! This is a bespoke and curated experience, smaller restaurant so make sure you make a rezzie to experience it! Fantastic main menu with rotating specials every day. Fantastic drinks and small plates as well. Best place to make your time at the beach even more delicious and memorable!

We had a great experience at Melissa's. Food was top notch, and the service was warm and friendly. Had the lobster fried rice which I highly recommend. Well done all around

Small. Not large selections, but good. Service was excellent. Locals go here, so not just a summer place. Did not regret my visit. I'm a tough reviewer.

It's lunchtime at Melissa's Dinner and Lounge! And we were so there. Chipotle Chicken burgers, tomato basil soup and grilled cheese with plenty of chips and tart pickles to round out the meal. Burger was great (requested without the sauce); soup was creamy with a understated tomato taste upped with a swirl of olive oil and tasty croutons; the grilled cheese was Gouda and cheddar awesome with sliced tomatoes wedged inside perfectly toasted bread -- every bite gooey good. Melissa's, the creation of a Good Earth alumnus, is a cosy nook with exposed brick, minimal decoration and a small outdoor seating patio. So name change? Melissa's LUNCH Dinner and Lounge.

Warm, Cozy, & Wonderful! Just had lunch out with a friend at Melissa's and just WOW! Great selection, warm & friendly service, and the food was delicious! What a wonderful place to have nearby at the beach. Check out her website to see if they're open for lunch (right now it's Friday's & Saturday's) and check out their dinners! We're even having our SLD community Christmas party there! Very impressed! As a Google Local Guide, I give it 5 STARS! We had a delicious meal here! We started with the homemade snowflake rolls, which were warm and fluffy with delicious honey butter and herb infused olive oil for dipping. There were a good amount of specials when we visited - I got the halibut special and my husband got the steak. Both were delicious and perfectly cooked! Cocktails were good too!

Great staff and atmosphere. The standard menu was very inviting, however the specials were amazing. Monday was fresh pasta night (fettuccine/clams and shrimp scampi) and I had flank steak (roasted veggies over mashed potatoes). Large selection of wines. Ending with warm chocolate chip cookies, ice cream and a Chocolate martini. What a great anniversary!

A friend recommended we try Melissa's and what a wonderful experience. Everything we ordered from apps, main course, to dessert was fresh, well prepared and very tasty. Every member of the staff is working diligently and seamlessly to make this a great dining experience. The owner, Melissa, was working alongside the staff and I have a great amount of respect for this style of leadership. Go and enjoy, you won't be disappointed.

Had a great dinner here with my fiance while we were in town visiting friends. The dining area inside was very nice with warm tones. The staff was very friendly and the food came out great. Highly recommend!

Yesterday was my 3rd time dining at Melissa's, and it's exceeded my expectations once again! I was there with my family (party of 8) and the service and attention to detail was so on point. The cocktails were delicious, and the food was the freshest, most flavorful and well prepared I've had in a long time. I adore the charming atmosphere and all of the servers. We were all so full from our meals, but couldn't resist dessert (which did not disappoint) !! I would highly recommend Melissa's place, and look forward to dining there again.

melissa herself served us. incredibly concerned and sweet to meet our dietary requirements. food was delicious- had the s slop special. however " sides" were nothing more than a small accompaniment. dinner rolls were $1 each that night.

Went to Melissa's while on vacation in Bethany Beach. I had the orchard salad and the lobster fried rice. Everything was really tasty! We also had Melissa as our waitress and she was amazing!

So this is a place you want to love but it just needs to do more to get you past the "it's just okay" stage. Let's start with the noise level. Having been there 2x in the past few weeks we had the same irritating experience of having to strain to hear the conversation at our own table. It's a small quaint room but dinner conversation is almost impossible without shouting. Please do something about this. As to the food, the main course was good in both instances but ...no starch with the fish and just a few string beans for $38. It just fell short for the price. And be careful when you order a drink. Up charges are applied how the drink is prepared and adds to the cost for surprises at check time. This place will have to make changes before I make another visit. As an Ocean View resident I have a number of better places to spend my money.

We were in Ocean City, MD for two weeks. The meal we had at Melissa's was absolutely hands-down the best we had anywhere at the beach. Amazing food, friendly atmosphere, beautiful quaint interior. Make sure you visit! We had the shaved apple and fennel salad, lobster fried rice, and roasted seasonal veggie entree.

Every time my husband and I are in town we have to stop by Melissa's, we sometime go twice in one weekend! They have an amazing menu and great daily specials filled with a lot of different seafood options and a great selection of appetizers and entrées. Melissa is so sweet and the staff is so amazing! The ambiance is great and so beautiful.

The food is superb! The time and effort for this quality food with fresh ingredients is worth the visit to this cozy restaurant. The owner is wonderful because she is professional, approachable, and communicates exceptionally well .... whether it be on email or in person throughout the restaurant. A place we highly recommend!

Service was good, food was just ok. Did not have items on menu in terms of wine options listed. There were also a number of food items which were not available.

OMG .. the BEST KEPT SECRET!!! The staff ( Roy and Tristin) were amazing!!! Full of knowledge!!! The very best customer service! We had the best meals ... charcuterie board amazing ... best hidden secret close to Bethany Beach!! A MUST go to!! I'll be back for sure!!

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Melissa's last Saturday evening with several other couples. After a round of yummy cocktails, we enjoyed the great food -- shepherds pie, salmon, lobster fried rice, and a special acorn squash appetizer. Melissa was there and gave us (and the rest of the diners) a lot of personal attention. We will definitely return!

We had dinner at Melissa's for the first time tonight. The food and service were excellent! We both especially enjoyed the special heirloom tomato and burrata salad and the delicious seared scallop special. There is a charge for the snowflake rolls as an appetizer but it was well worth the cost served with a wonderful raspberry butter. I do suggest that you make reservations as the restaurant is fairly small. I highly recommend that you find time to experience this gem, you will be glad you did!

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Melissa's during a brief trip to Bethany Beach this weekend. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was superb! My husband and I shared the snowflake rolls, charcuterie board, watercress salad, and butternut squash soup - all were delicious. Our son loved the shrimp fried rice and we all enjoyed the strawberry cookies with ice cream for dessert. We would highly recommend and would certainly go back next time we are in the area.

Excellent entrees, service and presentation. Our waiter was helpful in recommending choices and very professional. The decor is warm and inviting. For dessert, we shared the Tres Leche cake with strawberry cream and it was amazing. We look forward to our return visit. We're also planning to stop in for lunch on a Friday or Saturday soon!
