"Unlike Chicago and Detroit, Atlanta doesn’t have its own pizza style. But in this homegrown institution now with hundreds of national franchises, we do have our own pizza brand. Since the first one opened near Tech back in 1974, Mellow Mushroom has provided good, slightly sweet, stone-baked pizza in a chill atmosphere for all comers. (The mushroom mascot does have this dopey-eyed, tie-dye-wearing thing going, so we’re not sure if he’s more for minors or their parents.) But we do love that the littlest patrons have their own doodle-able menu of fun bites like french bread pizza and pretzel dippers." - DeMarco Williams

Yelp
Popped in here on New Years day as it was the only food establishment open in the plaza at the time. There were seats still available for a party of two as well as options at the bar. Since it was pretty busy, there was a bit of time before we were able to place our order and afterwards. I opted for their Holy Shiitake Pie small while my friend got their Avocado Hoagie. In terms of the toppings, I thoroughly enjoyed the combination of savory flavors and refreshing garnishes. However, I found the flavor of the crust to fall flat even though the texture was decent. My friend enjoyed their sandwich. Overall, I am glad to finally have tried their pizza in-store as opposed to take-out for all my other experiences. I wouldn't mind coming here again but am also curious about checking out other options for that authentic crust.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. Bought a bunch of drinks at the bar from beautiful Lee. Great bar service. Was trying to get a pizza to go. It was slow. Was gunna drink more but I couldn't stay with my pizza!! wtf. $50 in 30 min and I cant stay!!! Don't come here. Awful people besides bartender. Pizza was good though. It just sucks the owner and rules are awful.

Yelp
Had dinner at this location and the server was very friendly despite being new. While they were not too busy, it took awhile to place an order, to get the waters we ordered. However the manager (I think) came by to tell us that our food was coming. We ordered pizza, the oven roasted wings and a classic salad to share. It was really good: hot and fresh. I do think you're paying more for the ambiance and cool factor/decor. Seems like a great place for a drink or happy hour.

Yelp
First time eating Mellow Mushroom and fun to eat it in the city where it all started. The building with its decor is fun to sit down and eat in. Pizza options were unlimited and so many good choices! We choose one of the mushrooms pizzas and it was super savory, creamy. Couldn't have been happier. Service itself was slow. Like really slow. We had to ask for our check multiple times to get it. Not sure what happened but we were sitting around for a bit. Would go again!

Laura M.

Yelp
Our server was very sweet. The Kringle drink was not very good. I wouldn't order it again. We had the pretzel bites which wouldn't tasty. We all ordered our own individual pies. Unfortunately one of our friends pies didn't come out until we were about to leave they didn't give us a free beer and 50% off the pizza they should've given us the pizza for free, since my friend couldn't even eat with us, we brought it home because they were closing. She had the mushroom pie. It was quite delicious.

Yelp
DESERVES NOTHING LESS THAN 5 STARS I've had a variety of pizzas including the popular chains everyone knows of, Urban Pie, Marcos and various locations that promote themselves as authentic New York style, none of these have give me anything close to what Mellow provided me today. I am in love with homemade pizza and it's perfect here. We were greeted and seated nicely. We ate spinach artichoke as an appetizer and a medium meaty pizza as our entree. The pizza took a little while to come out but it was self explanatory when it arrived. Nothing this great is going to happen fast. The vibe is good for coworkers, family, and friends.

Yelp
I really want to give a 2 1/2. I've been coming here for lunch quite often. Alway the cheesesteak hoagie lunch special. The wait is always 20 minutes to get your food. Even though there are usually only 3 or 4 people seated. I think the woman who cooks does one order at a time. Not a multi-tasker. The food presentation and taste has been going downhill. Today was the worst. The bread was doughy and horrible. As you can see the entire sandwich came falling out the doughy bread. No taste. This is not all mellow mushrooms. The Brookhaven location is really good. My server was really sweet. I don't think I'll be spending anymore lunches here. Woody's next door is so much better and 10xs faster.

Yelp
Loveddd it ,first time and won't be the last ,pizza was so hot just like I like it straight out the oven and it was Everything

Amber M.

Yelp
I love homemade pizza! The customer service was A1! The food was delicious and hot. I love the decor and the large patio. I had a really good drink cause sunset paradise I would get it again . This was a nice place for a family Outing

Yelp
Wanting pizza but didn't want the regulars. So we decided to give Mellow Mushroom a try and I will be honest, I was pleasantly surprised. My veg out pizza was really fresh and good and fresh, my husband liked his calzone he said next time no Spinach because it gets soggy but he enjoyed it.. and my daughter ate her pepperoni so fast I barely had time to take the pictures.

Monique M.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here on a Sunday. It wasn't busy and service was fast. This was my first time here and I enjoyed my BBQ pizza. The crust was thin and crunchy which made it really good. The service was also great .

Julian C.

Yelp
I'm new to town and was told that this is a great pizza place to try! And boy were they right.I ordered the pretzel bites for an appetizer and they were delicious and cheesy. For my pizza, I went with the buffalo chicken pizza which cane with chicken, bacon, buffalo sauce, and ranch. DELICIOUS. I've been craving to go back and try different flavors. The service when I went was very pleasant, warm, and attentive as well. It was quick food that was also super delicious!

Niaz P.

Yelp
Came here with a large group and with a little bit of difficulty we were able to be seated outside on the patio. There's not much space indoors if your group wants to be seated together and you're group is larger than 10. The service was pretty good and we were served quickly. Everything tasted great. It's mellow mushroom so don't expect the best pizza of atl but it's a great mellow mushroom. I got a calzone and it was super filling. Beware with parking here if you go on the weekend. This parking lot is big and there are spots in the back, but it still can fill up.

Lina B.

Yelp
THE. VEGAN. PIZZA!!! It's so dang good. Been vegan 4 years and eating plant based cheese for 10 and it can be so tough to get it right and this place does just that. I keep on coming back time and time again

BitLeigh V.

Yelp
We were in a large group of 12 today, so luckily Mellow Mushroom was the move to accommodate our large group with a short notice and it's always a fan favorite! There's a large parking lot that is free that's shared with Trader Joe's and other stores in the area. This parking lot can be packed during the weekends so keep that in mind. I'm docking a star as when we walked up to the restaurant the patio area had absolutely no one seated outside. We were a larger group and as the interior couldn't really fit a group that size we were more than happy to sit outside. We told the host this because I felt it would be more difficult for us to be split in two booths on the inside compared to their very empty, but large patio. They said their patio was closed, but luckily after a couple of minutes they let us sit on the patio. Our server tonight was STELLAR. I didn't get her name but she wore a camo long sleeve and camo pants. Service was really great for our size and she came by at the right times. I ordered the medium Pacific Rim ($23.45) and it was just as good as other Mellow Mushroom locations. Came out nice and hot with a adequate amount of toppings. Are there better pizza places in Atlanta? Yes, but for a chain restaurant this place is a solid 4 stars.

Erin S.

Yelp
We had a party of 2 at 3:30 pm on a Tuesday. Service was good! We got our food in a timely manner. We split both dishes. Here's what we got: - Lil Greek Salad ($7.95): Even though it's "lil," it is enough for 2 people to split as an appetizer. Their portions are so generous. Always quality ingredients. I love dipping the pizza crust in the Esperanza dressing. - Small Cheese Pizza with Mushrooms & Pineapples ($10 + $3.20 for toppings): Good. But there were pieces of sausage on it and we didn't order that. If you're allergic, make sure to tell your waiter so you don't accidentally get unwanted ingredients. Mellow is consistently good across all locations I've been to. A great staple for pizza and salad, though they do have other things too!

Yelp
Update 6/7/23: Mellow Mushroom management reached out to address my experience which was very kind. They explained how the service I received does not reflect the companies values or the type of customer service they strive to provide. I was informed the server I had will be retrained/removed temporarily and that they will be comping my next meal. While I had a negative experience this one time I appreciate the effort they've but put in to resolve the situation. 5/25/23 I would not recommend dining at mellow mushroom. This is my first time at this restaurant as I'm traveling through Atlanta and the service was beyond terrible. I'm a server myself and know how easy it is to give good service but the waitstaff we interacted with for the first portion of our time were very unfriendly and unprofessional. We waited for about 25 min before we were greeted by our server Luke, who we had to track down, and seemed pissed off that he had to serve us to begin with. I understand how stressful it can be waiting tables when you are busy however our server put no effort in to letting us know that he would be taking care of us despite his busyness. Communication is key when serving patrons. The woman who was serving the tables around us refused to take our order when she seemed to be less busy and merely just told us to wait for Luke. I'm a pretty understanding person since I work in the industry myself but this was beyond ridiculous and bad customer service. Our sever eventually came after waiting a while but he gave us a lot of attitude and made us feel like we were inconveniencing him by dining at the restaurant. I understand mellow mushroom is a casual restaurant and I don't expect top tier service but a simple greet and waters immediately when sitting would've been nice. The service standards were lacking amongst this server. The food was nothing exceptional but maybe that was because we ordered salads. The best part was how tender the chicken was. Overall I would not recommend coming here, especially if you're in a rush. Guess we just got unlucky with our experience. Don't come here expecting much.

Yelp
I came here for some really fun trivia with friends! This may not be a complete review since we ate dinner before coming here, but my fiancé and I did get tasty drinks while the rest of the group enjoyed pizzas. I had the Pineapple Express mocktail. It was quite sweet but very flavorful. My fiancé enjoyed two Sweetwater 420 beers which are always good. My friends enjoyed pieces of the Great White, Pacific Rim, and Holy Shiitake pizzas. I mostly review this as trivia is really fun and service is great! Much better service here than I've had at other Mellow Mushroom locations. May bump up the review if we can try food next time.

Yelp
First time back in this place post pandemic. It was good to be back. This staff always makes you feel comfortable. This time Sam was my server. He went out of his way to help me find a favorite salad off the lunch menu at dinner time. And helped my date with his order. Want to feel relaxed, connected, have great food with leftover size portions? Frequent this original midtown location. I feel like I've been coming here at least since 1998? Something on the menu for everyone. I have too many favorites to name. This time it was a 10 inch pizza and spinach salad. Spacious outdoor seating. Dining room. TV's - but not dominating the atmosphere. Full bar. Yup. You can have water, tea, or your favorite cocktail. Go! Lunch specials are always a great quick option during the week.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
I wish I could give it zero. Terrible rude, and sloooow service, followed by diarrhea running down my leg 5 minutes after leaving restaurant. If you like diarrhea, and you must, if you are still reading, this is a great spot for you. If you don't run to this restaurant, you can be guaranteed numerous runs to the toilet, with the runs and all the trimmings immediately after. Do not go here, ever.

Yelp
Went to mellow mushroom for a quick and late business lunch. Had been to one in Arizona. We ordered pizza and salad. Service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious and fresh. Their options are different and of course they have some traditional pizzas. We also ordered some of their grinders. I particularly liked the Italian.

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Sam saved the day!!! We were on foot and walked over 2 miles and hit up 3 different restaurants looking for 'kid food' for our 9 year old. We walked all the way to Piedmont park to go to the mellow mushroom only to find out they weren't serving any hamburgers or sandwiches that day. We had exhausted all our options when SAM came to the rescue!!! He allowed us to go next door and grab some chicken fingers from the food cart and bring them back into the mellow mushroom so our whole family could eat together. Our 9 year old insisted on writing Sam a thank you letter only to find out that Sam is from the same hometown we are, over 1000 miles away from Atlanta. The universe works in mysterious ways and we will never forget the mellow mushroom!!!

Yelp
Placed on-line order. Received confirmation email and credit card charged. Went to store and they could not find my order. Showed them the confirmation email and essentially they just shrugged. Kept blaming corporate. After returning home (no pizza of course) THEN I had an email saying there was a problem.

Yelp
After my whole experience at what used to be my favorite place to eat in Atlanta, I am sad that so many other favorites are gone and this place survived. Started off with an awful greeting from my soon to be waitress and continued with her putting my order in wrong. I ordered a build your own Calzone with only Ham, Pepperoni and Mozzarella, as I always did. 20 minutes later it arrived and I asked for a sharper knife, because the bottom of their Calzone was always hard to cut through, and it was today as well. The waitress and the Line cook had a loud disapproval of my request and the cook continued his show of unprofessionalism by continuing to loudly make remarks to the other employees as the waitress returned to say," Maybe they had sharper knives when you were here so long ago, not now." As I progressed in eating my meal I got a big mouthful of Ricotta, which I hate and didn't order, so I asked for the manager. She finally sauntered over and I explained the whole scenario and exactly as the other employees, but worse, she reached an all time low of unprofessional behavior by a manager. She blamed me, because I had been here so long ago that it clearly was no fault of any of theirs. I am embarrassed at what this restaurant has become. I clearly wasn't going to pay for this food or the treatment at this restaurant and as I got up to leave I told her, " You are doing a bang up job and to keep it up." Truly heartbreaking that a place which once possessed so much charm has become all of this mess. Nothing lasts forever, time for something more professional and less combative with customers!

Liberty R.

Yelp
Don't bother coming to this joint. The manager/bartender named Jude is rude, extremely inhospitable and a blatantly ornery person. This attitude trickles down to her employees, the ambiance and honestly, the quality of the pizza itself. To make a long story short... We came in to eat some pies on a pretty dead night and already had to wait over 15 minutes just to get waters for the table. From the start the service seemed to be slow and lacking. We asked our server if one of the 4 TVs in the restaurant (which were playing baseball) could be switch to show Monday Night Football. The servers continued to give us some strong attitude and multiple excuses as to why they thought the TVs wouldn't be able to be changed. After waiting 10 mins for our question to be answered we asked again if they had found out if it could happen and we were told by an employee that the manager Jude was most likely going to come over and give us attitude. So we asked to speak with manager Jude directly. After waiting more than 45 mins or longer manager Jude finally came to our table and gave us the ridiculous excuse that there was no way any of the TVs could be changed to Monday Night Football because of a power outage the day before that had made the TVs all (conveniently) stuck on the same channel showing baseball. Mind you, Jude wore a baseball bandana a-top her head. We proceeded to watch Monday Night Football on our phone since the pizza had finally been brought out. Yet we continued to be accosted by the servers with attitude and could not eat in peace. Stay away from this location and Rude Jude. The Mellow Mushroom locations in College Park as well as Downtown are run by much nicer people and have better quality pies to boot.

Yelp
Me and my Fiancé went here for lunch, and we left with a very disappointing experience. The server Lukas was very polite, but I can't say the same for Natalie the "manager". We ordered a pitcher of beer and our server asked if we would like two glasses. When brought out it was two glasses of beer, not a pitcher. (In my experience when you order a pitcher the server asks how many glasses you want with that, and we said two) We notified the server of the misunderstanding, and that we wanted a pitcher of beer. He was polite and apologized for the misunderstanding. He told us that he "would bring us a pitcher, and do you just want me to leave the two pints for y'all". We said yes, thinking we obviously wouldn't be charged for that mistake. As we were finishing up our pitcher and about to leave we noticed the check had charged us for both the pints and the pitcher. (Obviously we would have told the server to take the two mistaken pints back if we thought they would charge us for that) The server then went back to see if he could get manager approval to take the two pints off of the check. He did come back with the adjusted check, but then proceeded to remove the remainder of our pitcher of beer (about two beers remaining in pitcher) and told us his manager Natalie said we could finish the pitcher to make up for the two pints we were not charged for. My Fiancé and I both asked to talk with the manager. (You would think in a customer services industry they would have reacted to the misunderstanding a bit different). "The manager" Natalie was extremely rude to the both of us, said some disrespectful word, turned her back on the both of us and decided to discontinue the conversation. In my experience as a server and working in the airline industry we are taught to listen, empathize and offer a service recovery solution. NONE of which were done. I felt very unheard when the server admitted he was in a misunderstanding. Advice: find a manager willing to provide quality conflict resolution because Natalie did not hold any positive quality I would seek in a manager. GET BETTER! I love Mellow Mushroom, but I will never go back to this location. I will drive the extra mile to go to one of the two other locations in the area.

Ann C.

Yelp
I haven't been to a Mellow Mushroom in many years. My expectations were low, but the pizza we had this time was actually really good. The service was quick, server was nice and the price was reasonable. We had the mushroom soup which had a lot of flavor and it had a tomato base. There were avocados and shredded cheese on top. Pizza had sausage, mushroom and green pepper. The crust was a little thick for my taste and a bit chewy but it tasted good. The small pizza is plenty for the two of us. In this area, all the restaurants and shops are always quite busy after work hours. I love the energy with the "after 10 PM" crowd.

Angela B.

Yelp
I love the fact that I can get a gluten-free pizza from Mellow Mushroom and also eat it outside on a beautiful Spring day like today. I got the gluten-free crust on their House Special pizza and it was crispy and thin just like I like my crust to be. My daughter got their veggie calzone and it was too large for her to eat in one sitting. That's a great thing!

Mecca F.

Yelp
Takeout order on my way home. Pizza still good to eat wince home. Went with the house pizza. Veggies and meat! My husband misses out on this slice it was delicious. When you can eat the toppings without the crush and still taste the combination you got yourself a good choice to stop and order... night

Mntharp22 M.

Yelp
I usually love Mellow mushroom, but my take out order today was not the usual mellow mushroom pizza I'm used to. I ordered a large cheese pizza for pickup, and when I got home and ate it with my family it tasted really weird. The dough seemed undercooked, the sauce tasted weird and pasty like lunchable pizza sauce, and there was barely any cheese, and the cheese didn't taste like anything. The whole pizza was comparable to a frozen one. I've had several take-outs from here before, and they were all fine. I don't know what went wrong with this one, but my whole family and I were very disappointed with the pizza and the money we spent on it.

Mary M.

Yelp
The pizza and service is not consistent. Ordered a small pizza that was delivered to my table late as if it sat under the lamp and became toast. The cheese was not oozing and the crust was burnt. It tasted like left over pizza reheated from the refrigerator. I'm disappointed as I enjoyed pizza there a few days ago.

Charrita R.

Yelp
Service is extremely slow. And even if it's going to be backed up or behind, the server should at least acknowledge and check in on us. I feel that they hire high school students without the proper customer service training. Possibly need more/better staff..... still waiting on my appetizers and drinks ordered almost 30 min ago.

Jamarcus T.

Yelp
Not being sure of where to go to lunch, we decided on Mellow Mushroom because we were in the area, and pizza is always a good idea. It also didn't hurt that they had a free salad with your yelp check in, so definitely a win there! First thing you'll notice is the size of this mellow mushroom. Tons of outdoor seating and lots of seating inside too. The large statues of funny looking characters and art work littered the insides and the walls, making the experience colorful, and yes, mellow even. Going on columbus day, we were told no lunch menus were available (i.e. no pizza by the slice), so we instead ordered a whole pie and got their Holy Shitake pie ($19.99). My date also got the enlightened spinach salad ($5.49) and for a yelp check in we got the Ceasar salad (normally $5.49) Starting with the spinach salad, this was an attractive salad! In the salad were apples, pecan halves, dried cherries, and feta cheese crumbles. Very fresh, and while I didn't try it, I was told it was delicious! I also did not try the Ceasar salad, but again, was told it was really good! The Holy shitake pie, which caught my eye from the name alone, was also a very good pie, and if you're a mushroom fan like me, you'd agree. On the pie came caramelized onions, mozzarella, garlic aioli swirl and black trufffle oil. Mushrooms that came with were button, shitake and portobello, all on an olive oil and garlic base. We also added a topping ($2 per topping...Sausage) The holy shitake pie (the medium) gives you about 6 slices, so plenty to go take home between two people. I did like the flavor of the pie all around, though I could've done without the aioli swirl. It was messy and detracted from the flavors I think. Located in the Midtown Promenade Shopping center, Parking here is shared between the likes of Starbucks, Trader Joes, and other shops, which make this small lot so busy. Parking can sometimes be tight, but we did find parking, and while getting in the lot is easy, if it weren't for the red light exit, getting out would be a nightmare. I like this mellow mushroom. Close to piedmont park and the belt line, good service and quickish service make this a place i'm sure i'll find myself visiting again.

Yelp
Throughout my 13 years in ATL this location has been my go-to when I crave that Mellow Mushroom Mighty Meaty Pizza. There's just something about that Applewood smoked bacon they have that is the perfect pairing to the other ingredients (Mellow red sauce base with mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, ham). The Mellow Mushroom crust is definitely a different taste than other pizza restaurants. I've had some of their appetizers like the BRUSCHETTA and MEATBALL TRIO as well when we knew the wait was going to be long. I do love their salads if dining in. They have several to choose from, but my favorite is the Greek salad. On this particular evening I ordered using one of the app delivery services. Pizza restaurants have perfected the delivery packaging business like no other and my pizza arrived fresh and delicious but I'm just up the road and would expect nothing less. I am living for the melted garlic butter I was able to order on the app. I don't remember seeing it when I've dined in but I would ask next time. Parking at this location is not easy at times. Shared parking with several other popular Midtown businesses including a Starbucks and Trader Joes. They have a great patio though and while I don't think your doggies are allowed on the patio you can grab a table on the edges and have them right there with you on the other side of the short fencing. The inside of course if full of iconic memorabilia figures and groovy painted walls. Bench and table seating. Service is pretty good, not sure I've ever had any issues. It can take a while to get your pie on a busy night but if you want it good you must be patient and wait for hot tasty fresh pie to come to your table. This is of course a franchise location but from what I understand to be a franchise they have to use the dough and sauce from home office Home-Grown Industries which is located off Fulton Industrial BLVD here in ATL. I had the fortune of visiting the home office several years ago and it's a treat. I was told one of the owners likes to travel the world purchasing these iconic life-size and larger figures and then sells them to the franchise owners to use at their locations. I believe there were 3 buildings at Home Grown and each building has many of these figures visibly displayed everywhere. It was so much fun to look around each corner to see what was next. I've added some pics to this review even though they don't pertain to this MM location. I would have taken more pics but I was trying to be professional on the day of my visit. I don't think I succeeded but there was so much to see. I'd love to get a chance to go back again someday. At the time I went there was a huge Hulk that they hadn't figured out how to get inside yet because it was so large. I wish I had a photo of it, but I did get one of the smaller ones.

Laur R.

Yelp
This was my favourite Mellow Mushroom in Atlanta. I'm a bimonthly regular visitor to Jax Beach location for bingo night. The staff was knowledgeable, courteous and the service was top notch. I usually order drunken fun guys, a Jax beach specialty, so I had the pretzels instead. They were delish. The beer cheese sauce is a must. I ordered the house Calzone instead of pizza since I had visited a different Mellow ATL location [college park] the previous day. The crust was crisp, not too hard and the fillings fresh and delicious.

Nellie D.

Yelp
Good pizza with unique options. Quick service and fresh ingredients. I usually get something to go after the trader Joe's grocery run.

Colby L.

Yelp
So overpriced and just objectively bad. Personal pizza with 3 toppings for $27 and it was nasty.

Sean O.

Yelp
Good ambiance good food good mellow psychedelic art. Pizza is great, I like the pacific rim

Haron K.

Yelp
I love Mellow and have eaten it at locations all over town. My rating is for my overall experiences with this location, because though the food was great per usual, my server Madi left a whooooooole lot to be desired. I'm going to be give Madi a mulligan, because it was super busy last night, but Madi started off by spilling my drink, proceeded to shake wet hands off on my plate, left my table soaked, didn't offer paper towels or napkins, didn't clean the spill and then acted as if wet hands weren't shaken off over my plate...What the f--k!?!? I was very close to not leaving a tip, but EVERYONE has rough days...I know what the Mellow brand is about, so life goes on and I'll certainly be back. Madi step your game up though! Skylar (sp?) ROCKS!!!

Aishwarya I.

Yelp
My friends have been hyping up this place for me for a while so I finally decided to try it yesterday, and it did not disappoint! The Holy Shiitake is truly a mushroom lover's delight. I got it on thin crust. Overall, it was delightful.

Derrick W.

Yelp
Just don't. Recycled wings, 2 horrible pizza's. I paid the bill without eating any of it; it was just horrible. If you want good food, skip this place. If you don't care about the quality of the food you put in your mouth; have fun at Mellow Mushroom.

Megan J.

Yelp
Wow. We watched as a white table was refused service. They were told the restaurant had run out of cheese, therefore they couldn't order drinks, salad, breadsticks, anything. They were forced to leave. As soon as they left, I saw the waitress seat a black family at the same table. I asked the waitress what was going on and she said "Oh, we found the cheese." Really? Or did you just make up an excuse to kick out white people so a black family could have a table? This is 2021 Atlanta. I will never return to this restaurant. I'm updating my review because I feel the owner handled the situation as best she could. Regardless, my family won't be returning to this business.

Manuel S.

Yelp
Not a single star. Unrelated to Covid. Waiters got into a fight in the patio, daylight, 6pm, 10 people fighting. A pregnant woman with a black eye. Not mellow at all. Avoid this place.

Lynisha B.

Yelp
Wanted grab something for a picnic at the park. We walked from Piedmont to Mellow Mushroom in about ten minutes. Upon ordering to go, the server was super friendly! We ordered the Funky Chicken Pizza and substituted the chicken for ground beef. Our order took about 20 minutes. My sister and I really enjoyed our pizza but our only complaint would be the lack of sauce. There was bbq sauce of course but not enough to constitute as a base and topping sauce. Next time if probably stuck to the chicken rather than substituting for ground beef. All in all, great pizza and great location!

Stasia O.

Yelp
I wouldn't even describe the pizza as mediocre at best. On top of trying to stomach the pizza, I was told that because I had a to go order, I could not sit inside the restaurant and eat due to people sitting and eating without tipping the servers. Okay Thats understandable because I agree that servers should be tipped for their services. I then requested to sit on the outside patio with no service or server because I literally just wanted somewhere to eat my food while it was still hot. I was then I told I can't do that. If the issue is truly about servers not getting tipped why can't I sit down at a table without a server? I would never go back and never recommend.

Yelp
Had an exceptional pizza tonight and our server was just amazing. Attentive, friendly and yet never intrusive. She made the meal quite memorable.

Yelp
This location of Mellow Mushroom can be found at 931 Monroe Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30308 in a small shopping center anchored by Trader Joe's. When I lived in L5P I visited this are primarily for the Highlander nearby (TJs wasn't open yet) - parking is frankly pretty crappy in this shopping center, but you can usually find a spot if you come at the right in-between time. Traffic is also pretty bad on Monroe during evening rush hour, however it's a fairly good time to drop in and have a draft or two to wait things out a bit. I realized I was accumulating a lot of photos for nearby MM locations so this the first review of several. The Mellow Mushroom recently underwent some updates to decor so some of these photos are dated. The pizza, however is still the amazing oven-baked, multi-grain crust made with enthusiasm and expertise that anyone living in Atlanta for any length of time has come to enjoy. Mellow Mushroom offers up something you don't usually see - a smooth blend between small-time-pizza-joint and consistency in product. I do miss the earlier pies and personality, but some of the locations preserve a bit of the latter more than others (a good example is the location in Emory along Lavista Rd). This location has a bit more of a Midtown vibe with some classic rock thrown in (I never thought I'd think of the Dead as classic rock, but there you go). The menu items have changed a little over the years - when I started eating at Mellow Mushroom there were only a handful of locations - now they are ubiquitous covering multiple states. The Midtown location has some fine craft beer examples that you won't find at other locations - that's one thing I like about Mellow, they will alter their offerings a bit to suit the locals. You'll find some great neon on the exterior and blue neon around the drink cases. The service here in general is very good, although when it's either very busy or very slow, it can be hard to get served if your sitting on the patio. My favorite Mellow Mushroom pies: Kosmic Karma or the Magical Mystery Tour - the pizza here and at all MM locations are a standout - perfect blend of whole wheat and refined flour with a douse of olive oil and sprinkle of parmesan cheese. I can eat this every day. Favorite beer served at this location: Founders Centennial IPA -- John (Longer review posted to my food blog)

Yelp
Mellow Mushroom, my go to get young people pizza place. There is one Downtown -- which has hard to find parking and an after-work vibe -- another in Downtown Decatur, which is in an odd location -- and then this Midtown fave. Always packed, but good for groups and families. Mellow Mushroom has some of the best pizza in Atlanta. This place is great for groups, particularly on a warm day. You can sit out, enjoy the outdoor seating or sit in and watch a game. It even has a decent bar. The only downside is that it is packed all the time with high-school kids. (Which makes it a great place to go if you are a high school kid.) The large plain pizza is my go to. It's smaller than others but decent. The crust is particularly good. The service has never been bad and its about 15 minutes to carry out. All in all a good find and there literally is no competition for good pizza in Midtown.
